Re: [AFMUG] So pretty

2017-04-21 Thread Steve Jones
Well i verified it stays consistent gigabit when bypassed or through a
600ss i had on hand (100mbs there) grounded or not it would keep
renegotiation unless it settled on 100mbps then it seemed stable. I took
the gig out of the mikrotik and it stabilized at 100mbps consistently, its
20mhz channels so i dont need gige anyway and everything else is fine, even
the force200 which is consistently running at gige.
Its 250 foot bbdge, and the terminations into the keystones are awful, with
exposed twistsone very small component in this carnival of clusterfucks
at the site. Once they come back and fix that and all the other
shennanigans, i may revisit it, but not to worried, ill never be running
the epmp2000 at more than 20mhz channels anyway.

I think it is referring to the snowflakes that suppress speech of people with
opinions different than them.

The bastion of liberalism, defenders of all human rights, suppress free speech
if it hurts their feelers.

Irony

Re: [AFMUG] 48V Meanwell UPS?

2017-04-21 Thread George Skorup
The only good reason for the remote control link is so that the BCM can
control the PS output voltage for battery temp compensation. The BCM
also instructs the PS to shut down when you hit the off switch. That's
all there is to it.

I could never get the BCM48 to limit charging current. It's possible
that the one I have has some kind of issue, but Ken said he saw the same
thing on his.

The BCMU360 and an SDR-240-48 combo is cheaper and works fine for me.
But like I've said before, just be aware that the BCMU is only good for
~240 watts continuous. I have several running 200-220 watts of real load.

Yes, it would be nice if Mean Well made the UPS40 in 48v. I know the
charging current limiter on that thing actually works.

Is there a 48V model? I have several Traco BCM48's, but I don't know
if they will work with the Meanwell PSU since it lacks the 'control
link' or whatever Traco uses between the TSP and BCM.

I think this map is for the CAF-II reverse auction, which is for areas that

certain states? Mark originally posted this, he would probably be able to

We haven’t looked at the integrated ones yet, those are up next for

we had a 450 fail due to water intrusion too.

it was in warranty,

at first they didn't want to cover under warranty,
(said we didn't weatherseal the connectors).

after a bit of complaining they did cover it.

Roland

We took it apart and drained
it and let sit dry. The AP booted up just fine but
failed a few days later on
the bench. We got the same response. "Out of
warranty".

Rev D is the latest, has been tested with all the Cambium products, with
Netonix an with Forrest’s stuff.

But ePMP has issues at times no matter what you do. You can always pull them
most of the way out of the rack to see if grounding is part of the problem.

Im dealing with a clusterfuck of clusterfucks at a site, but at least this is
pretty

But the question is for clarification on flapping ethernets with cambium, the
gigeapc and powerinjectors, this rev d should or should not see this issue?

[AFMUG] 48V Meanwell UPS?

2017-04-21 Thread Josh Baird
Looking for a UPS to complement a Meanwell SDR-240-48. I see the DR-UPS40,
but it's only 24V.

Is there a 48V model? I have several Traco BCM48's, but I don't know if
they will work with the Meanwell PSU since it lacks the 'control link' or
whatever Traco uses between the TSP and BCM.

I don't think we're turds, but you're welcome to your analogy.

It's in plain public view. You were invited there by the customer to get
your gear. There's realistically no way you could get harassed for a
picture.

Re: [AFMUG] Cambium 450i

2017-04-21 Thread David Coudron
We have received a bunch of new 3.5 GHz 450i APs. 5 of these were integrated
configurations, but one was connectorized. There is a noticeable gap in the
middle of the top where the faceplate seals to the backing very similar to the
pictures shared here, but it is not as dramatic. It is difficult to determine
if that is merely a cosmetic anomaly or actually extends past the seal and will
allow water into the case. Based on the conversation here, we are likely
going to seal the entire seam around the unit the same way we do the
connectors, vinyl tape covered with Monkey tape. Anyone see any issues with
that?

We haven’t looked at the integrated ones yet, those are up next for inspection.

Thanks,

We've had our share of water intrusion issues with regular 450 APs. Cases where

regardless of warranty status.

I constantly bitch about cambium not being forthright about a product flaw, but
they do tend to ultimately make things right, even on out of warranty products.

If the unit doesn't have a breather hole equalize air pressure then it can suck

we had a 450 fail due to water intrusion too.
it was in warranty,
at first they didn't want to cover under warranty, (said we didn't weatherseal
the connectors).
after a bit of complaining they did cover it.

[AFMUG] router speak

2017-04-21 Thread Dave

Ok,
to make a long story short. I am looking for a router (cheap-mid
priced) that will do a site to site vpn using Ikev2 and voip.

The issue is that Mikrotik currently doesnt support Ikev2 but it handles
the voip fine so a sonic wall had to be placed into the mix to handle
the vpn.
Not a big deal if we had vlans setup on this tower but we do not. So, I
had to create a bridge for the WAN port and plug the modem and sonicwall
WAN port into it. This is not good design. Which brings me here to see
if there is decent router that would do both?

Some cables are shown to have a water swellable tape when you look at

Does this stuff actually work? How does it work?
