Another way to reproduce: 1) From Draw, Writer or Calc. 2) Go to Insert/Object/OLE object... menu 3) Insert non OO OLE object that displays as metafile with gradients and bitmaps. I reinstalled 2.4.1, first converting the rpm's using rmp2tgz. The install failed. It seems that the install scripts were run in the wrong order, the newly installed files were deleted. I then reconverted using alien (alien -t -c as root). This worked. With this lead, I reconverted the 3.0 rpms and reinstalled. Now I get different behavior, namely, a popup complaining about missing vcl files.
