I recommend that you take a look at Abydos Designer for SRM - this will
allow you to define the process steps, QA, data capture, approvals and
rules for when Work Orders/Change Requests or other records get created.

Hi, list. It's been a while.
I have an open ticket with BMC on this, but was wondering if anyone else had
seen (or found a workaround) for this issue

ARS 7.6.4, Mid Tier, IE8 -- when I do client-side logging through the Mid Tier,
it sometimes* clears the contents of the log window, trashing the previous
contents of the log. This makes troubleshooting client-side workflow almost
impossible. In other words, on a complex action, you see
scroll-scroll-scroll-scroll - WIPE - scroll. And after what was obviously a ton
of workflow, there are a couple of dozen lines in your logging window.

*usually on window open, but not neccessarily - it also seems to happen when an
open window calls a Remedy form in a frame, like the Landing Console.

Help?

James,

I have seen the same thing and know where you are coming from. The workflow
logging from mid-tier need to be redesigned - it is not working very well. It
might be working at design - the fact is that it is not doing a good job.

With the User Tool workflow logging from the client was very easy. Moving
everything into the browser - we need a good alternative. The current mid-tier
workflow logging is not up to the job. I do think BMC Software is well aware of
this. They own consultants are.

A simple solution will normally work. Sadly it is often over engineered.

Does the order of the Set Fields or Push Fields If matter in relation to Index

2011-05-10 Thread Pruitt, Christopher (Bank of America Account)
Need some feedback from all your database SQL experts out there.

We have been having an ongoing discussion regarding the use of Indexed fields
within a Set Field If Action and/or a Push fields If Action qualification.

Here is what we are looking at.

You have a form with three indexes, Inx1, Inx2, and Inx3.

Either the Set Field If Action or Push fields If Action qualification is set
up in this format.

Form Field 1 = Database Field 1 AND
Form Field 2 = Database Field Inx3 AND
Form Field 3 = Database Field Inx1 AND
Form Field 4 = Database Field Inx2

The question is does AR Server evaluate the qualification as whole and
determine if any of the fields are indexed first and then pull a subset of
records to find the last value Form Field 1 = Database Field 1 or does it
build the records sets in the order the Set Field If Action or Push fields If
Action qualification is designed. Meaning it first pulls those records in the
Form Field 1 = Database Field 1, then Form Field 2 = Database Field Inx3, and
so forth.

Re: Does the order of the Set Fields or Push Fields If matter in relation to Index

2011-05-10 Thread Opela, Gary L CTR USAF ABW 72 ABW/SCOOA
Chris good question.

I had always assumed that the ARSystem just took the query, then
formatted it in TSQL and sent it off to the database engine. If this is
the case, then the database engine will follow the query optimizer
settings to follow the index trail.

If, however, the ARSystem actually does the querying itself (which I had
always assumed it hadn't) then that would be a good question for Mr.
Mueller.

Need some feedback from all your database SQL experts out there.

We have been having an ongoing discussion regarding the use of Indexed
fields within a Set Field If Action and/or a Push fields If Action
qualification.

Here is what we are looking at.

You have a form with three indexes, Inx1, Inx2, and Inx3.

Either the Set Field If Action or Push fields If Action qualification
is set up in this format.

Form Field 1 = Database Field 1 AND
Form Field 2 = Database Field Inx3 AND
Form Field 3 = Database Field Inx1 AND
Form Field 4 = Database Field Inx2

The question is does AR Server evaluate the qualification as whole and
determine if any of the fields are indexed first and then pull a subset
of records to find the last value Form Field 1 = Database Field 1 or
does it build the records sets in the order the Set Field If Action or
Push fields If Action qualification is designed. Meaning it first pulls
those records in the Form Field 1 = Database Field 1, then Form Field
2 = Database Field Inx3, and so forth.

Re: Does the order of the Set Fields or Push Fields If matter in relation to Index

2011-05-10 Thread Ben Chernys
Guys,

Just turn on SQL logging and you will see the answer.

If ARS did what you suggested in the last paragraph, ARS would be a database
engine. You can place indexes through ARS (recommended) or directly in the
database (not recommended but often done). The effect's the same.

Re: Web services qualification

2011-05-10 Thread patchsk
For a getlist operation, by default one of the input mapping
attributes is: Qualification
You send the qualification as input to remedy using this attribute.
This qualification is same as what you use in remedy user tool
advanced qualification bar.
You do not need to change XPATH element.

2011-05-10 Thread Papolu, Appajee
The log you show here is the plug-in server log, indeed the Plug-in Server
detected loaded your plug-in. BUT my point was more about ...

Did you perform the necessary configuration to have your AR Server see your
specific plug-in?

When AR Server Plug-in Server both are C implementations -- the plug-in
listing is all in ar.cfg. However when we implemented a Plug-in Server using
Java -- its configuration is transitioned over to pluginsvr_config.xml.
However, just configuring the plug-in server is not quite sufficient. You still
need to include ar.cfg lines I quoted earlier so that -- your AR Server knows
about your plug-in, then knows which plug-in server hosts it -- thus it can
reach to it when/if necessary. I still suspect you have not finished ar.cfg
side of the configuration. Please confirm otherwise.

Re: Reset Password At Login, Web Version

2011-05-10 Thread Drew Shuller
Yes, I've got that set up so that the user has to change their password as
soon as they log in for the first time. It's working on the web but not the
user tool. I haven't been able to check to see if the init form is being
used (I'm pretty sure it's not) but I do have some workflow that's checking
for the user's group, when the Home page opens.

I concur - very frustrating working with midtier logging, this is going
to get more and more visibility as clients are pushed to the web client
and developers are forced to troubleshoot solely from the web client for
ITSM 7.6.x + applications that are no longer supported in the thick
client.

James,

I have seen the same thing and know where you are coming from. The
workflow logging from mid-tier need to be redesigned - it is not working
very well. It might be working at design - the fact is that it is not
doing a good job.

With the User Tool workflow logging from the client was very easy.
Moving everything into the browser - we need a good alternative. The
current mid-tier workflow logging is not up to the job. I do think BMC
Software is well aware of this. They own consultants are.

A simple solution will normally work. Sadly it is often over engineered.

Hi, list. It's been a while.
I have an open ticket with BMC on this, but was wondering if anyone else
had seen (or found a workaround) for this issue

ARS 7.6.4, Mid Tier, IE8 -- when I do client-side logging through the
Mid Tier, it sometimes* clears the contents of the log window, trashing
the previous contents of the log. This makes troubleshooting client-side
workflow almost impossible. In other words, on a complex action, you see
scroll-scroll-scroll-scroll - WIPE - scroll. And after what was
obviously a ton of workflow, there are a couple of dozen lines in your
logging window.

*usually on window open, but not neccessarily - it also seems to happen
when an open window calls a Remedy form in a frame, like the Landing
Console.

Help?

Re: Web services qualification

2011-05-10 Thread Chintan Shah
Vamsi, the problem with that is client has to know Label/DBNames(dont remember
exactly which one is needed in WSDL). The idea of web-service is to hide that
information from them, hence places where only particular fixed parameters need
to be passed, they can be passed as XPATH elements.

That way the client does not have to build the entire qualification and just
need to pass parameters.

eg. using Qualification XPATH Element, client has to build query that might
look like this
'Test' LIKE '%Test%'.

using Parameters, client only has to pass value '%Test%'.

Also, its easier for client to manipulate WSDL if input parameters are properly
specified.

Again, this goes only for operations where we know what we want to query. If
client comes back and says I want to query on every field that is on your
ticket, then Qualification attribute makes complete sense, since you will be
generalizing your WS operation at that point.

Thanks
Chintan.

For a getlist operation, by default one of the input mapping
attributes is: Qualification
You send the qualification as input to remedy using this attribute.
This qualification is same as what you use in remedy user tool
advanced qualification bar.
You do not need to change XPATH element.

ITSM 7.6 OOTB there is a form called HPD:Incident Interface, also
there are some OOTB webservices to create/query incidents.
HPD_IncidentInterface_Create_WS
HPD_IncidentInterface_WS
You can start from there.
You do not want to make any changes directly on the OOTB forms.
Most of the times during integrations we end up creating a staging
form for incoming/outgoing messages to store data and to do
translations, before submitting into main forms.
Incase of incident you can create a staging form, collect all the
information there, process the data and then finally submit into
HPD:IncidentInterface form which will then create the incident
ticket,worklogs and relationships.

You need to install some libraries on your IIS/Apache/other webserver
and then generate keys to share with org A, and you need to register
their keys in your key store.
Please review the integration guide that comes with remedy download,
which has a lot of information related to remedy webservices and
registering certificates.

But most of the times you do not directly talk to another
organizations systems directly from remedy itsm unless you host
another remedy env in DMZ.
You will have a middleware (webmethods, tibco, custom built) which will
take the message from you, do some translations and transfer it to
other organization vice versa, handling the
queues,connectivity,security etc.
