Re: How to "split" Unrestricted Access

2017-04-21 Thread Chris Jones
Hi Irina,

Another option for you to consider is using parent groups to control access to
multiple companies, etc.

https://docs.bmc.com/docs/display/public/ars81/Using+a+parent+group+for+permissions+inheritance

Maybe you could create an HR parent group and grant access to that so HR people
are granted access to anything within this parent group?

**

Hi,

I would like to "split" Unrestricted Access in two parts - HR Unrestricted
Access and Unrestricted Access for the other incidents.

Is it possible?

I've created an additional field in CTM:People form called HR Unrestricted
Access, an additional Role and group with the same name.

I can't use multi-tenancy since we have a mix of customers and support
companies. Each support company can support each customer.

I can't remove Unrestricted access from all the users that have that because of
the same reason..

Any help is appreciated

Irina

Hi Tom,

You can check the Long Group Name field in the Group form as this will be
populated with the three Support Group tiers separated by a ">".

You may also need to check the CTM:SYS-Access Permission Grps form. You can
search by Support Group ID.

Re: Custom Filter Plug-In Failing

2015-09-10 Thread Chris Jones
If you're on Windows you can debug using Visual Studio by instructing it to
start the arplugin.exe during your debug session.

I haven't done it for a while but you may have to comment out the arplugin.exe
from armonitor.cfg as vs will be starting it.

There should be plenty of resources online describing how to debug Dlls. It
works in a similar way.

Hope this helps.

Hey Lisa,

It's probably one of them

The fields the Location spreadsheet would populate are, Company, Site,
Region, Site Group, DataTags Status

CTM:LoadRegion has Company and Region but is missing is missing Site and
Site Group.

Cheers

Joe

PS: I had not noticed the CTM:LoadRegion form so it was some help. I need to
find the others. Works a whole lot better trying to locate forms having
certain fields if you have DB access through queries to the meta-data :). I
currently do not so kind of using old school ways by searching it in the Dev
Studio with its search capacities.

The customer is on ITSM 7.6.04 SP3. I know about SP5 that SP3 is
nearly about 2 years old and there is a recommendation out there to step
up.

To the best of my knowledge, all of the data load forms for ITSM have a
naming convention of XXX:LoadYyy where XXX is a prefix of the
function you are loading the data for, and Y is the actual function
name. For e.g. COM:LoadCompany for company data.

Is this true for *ALL* the foundation data load forms?

If so I can't seem to find the one for Locations (containing columns
Company, Site, Region, Site Group, DataTags Status). Is this load form
differently named? I'm wondering if they weren't consistent on these
names on SP3.

What would really help me is if someone has a compiled list of all the
Data load forms that are used to mass import ITSM 7.6.04 data, or point
me to where this may be documented by BMC Software.

I am using ITSM 7.6.04 application suite. I need to take data backup of all

have already used in ARS 7.1)

1. Generate report of all records from HPD:Help Desk form, and create a .arx

2. In case of upload, use BMC Data Import tool to import back .arx files.

But from ITSM application URL, I am not able to generate .arx file for both web

Can anyone please suggest me, a show to generate .arx files from ITSM 7.6.04

Re: Plugin programming with remedy

2014-04-11 Thread Chris Jones
Hi Sweety,

As LJ mentioned, you can write plugins in C or Java. Another option is to build
a generic Java plugin that can run JRuby scripts directly within.

You can store the scripts as configuration data and so you don't then need to
build multiple plug-ins.

I wrote a document for the BMC Communities here:

ARS 8.1.00 migrating from one remote MSSQL server to another.
I had the current development  db copied and restored onto  the production db
server.
I changed the name of the db-server in the ar.cfg file to point to the
production db server and ran the installation suite kit.
After checking all of the db connection parameters I continue the install but
the installer asks for new media or a location for DISK1.
O choose the browse button and navigate to the location drive (E: DATA) and
continue.
Still prompts me for new media or the location of Disk1.

Has anyone seen this and is it a bug with the 8.1.00 installer?

AD: Aramea Launches fresh innovative product for the BMC Remedy platform

2014-02-17 Thread Chris Jones
Hi All,

Apologies for the repost but the links in the previous post caused it to be
blocked by some email systems

Hope you all had a great Valentines weekend!

Aramea RAQL is a new innovative product designed for the BMC Remedy AR
System application.

RAQL is the Remedy Advanced Query Language, a language modelled closely on
the familiar syntax of SQL.

RAQL statements of SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE are parsed and executed
through the Remedy API and so can access and affect only the data that the
Remedy user login is permitted to.

Aramea RAQL statements can be used to replace the use of SQL which greatly
benefits multi-tenancy environments where use of SQL statements is
particularly dangerous as the Remedy database user has access to all the
data on the Remedy server.

The Aramea RAQL server software provides both a front-end access to execute
statements through the Mid-tier and Remedy User Tool and also a Filter API
Plugin for filter workflow.

Aramea RAQL can also benefit companies where access to the database to run
SQL queries is restricted, particularly for professional services teams.

The Aramea RAQL client software can be used to run statements on any Remedy
Server without the need to install anything on the server.

Ad-hoc join statements can be defined without the need to build join forms.

Aramea RAQL can also be used to facilitate a much more streamlined
implementation of any Remedy integration projects.

The Aramea RAQL Java library allows you to interact with the data on the
Remedy server through just a couple of lines of code, thereby reducing time
and cost when developing integration software.

The power and flexibility of Aramea RAQL allows for many uses, whether you
need to simply replace your SQL statements to protect data or you have an
integration project.

Here are some examples of statements to highlight some of what can be
achieved using RAQL:

Creation of a new Task within a Change Request

This example shows that by using RAQL you can create a task for a Change
Request with a single statement by using information from the Task Template
and the Change itself joined to provide the data for the INSERT statement

INSERT INTO TMS:Task

(TemplateID, TaskName, Summary, Location Company, RootRequestMode,
RootRequestName,

RootRequestInstanceID)

VALUES

(SELECT T.InstanceId, T.TaskName, T.Summary, 'Calbro Services', 'Real',
C.Infrastructure Change ID,

C.InstanceId

FROM TMS:TaskTemplate T, CHG:Infrastructure Change C

WHERE T.Summary = 'Standard Update of CMDB'

AND C.Infrastructure Change ID = 'CRQ0001')

As this is not SQL but RAQL the relevant workflow will be triggered for
Submit filters when the statement is executed.

Extracting all attachments from Incident Work Logs

This example shows the use of a special RAQL function used to extract all
the attachments, again in one simple statement

SELECT TO_FILE(z2AF Work Log, 'C:\temp\attachments') FROM HPD:WorkLog

For getting just the list, the ar.conf file should be more than enough for
plugins used by the AR Server and applications installed on it.

You could also probably try to identify most of their types from the
configuration parameter name related to each of the plugin - I think most of
them have the type in the configuration parameter name..

**

Everyone,

I apologize in advance, this may be a dumb question that's answered in the
install docs, but dang if I can find it this morning.

The long and short of it: I want to set up a quick ITSM install and poke
around / evaluate / get an idea what I'm in for. I've downloaded
BMCRemedyITSMSuitePreconfiguredStack8.1.00.Linux.tar.gz, which just appears
to be an ARServer/Midtier plus all the ITSM bits. Cool.

So I set up a DB, set up a VM make sure it's got all the Linux bits that it
needs and plenty of disk space, fire up the installer, and it asks for a
license key. Presumably because there is so much data in the ITSM install,
it violates the no more than 10k records condition of a demo-licensed
arserver.

Cool, cool. I can go get an eval license off the BMC site.

But I need the Host-ID.

The only place I know to get the Host-ID is off the arserver license dialog.

Which I don't have. Because I don't have an arserver yet!

And while I could go on . install the arserver, get the hostID, go get my
eval license, then come back and install the rest of ITSM, it seems like
it'd be awful nice to be able to use this all-in-one installer and get it
over with all in one go.

Does anyone know a way to get the host-id off a system before you put up an
arserver?

thanks,

-Andy

I'm not sure of your question. Process Designer will create TMS tasks for

Re: Error 506602: Creating a task for an incident using Process Designer

2013-08-08 Thread Chris Jones
Why not have Process Designer create the task directly? Any tasks in the
process will be created as TMS:Tasks anyway when the process is running for an
Incident.
You can have the process use a condition to decide if the task is assigned or
not and you should not need to create the supporting data such as TMS:Flow, etc.
Regarding your first task running automatically, is the value on the Incident?
If so, you can use a Set Outcome action to automate it.

 Hi Chris,

I am using the process designer action to create a new task. Currently I
have three tasks in the process designer which are actually checking for the
qualification when to generate a task. My third task action actually creates
a record in TMS:Task form. The question here is there are numerous core task
forms like TMS:Flow, FlowBuilder, Association,MetricsSummary etc, do we need
to create separate action for each such forms or abydos has got its
workflows for all the necessary forms.

Also Chris, I would ideally want my first task action to be triggered
automatically (where currently I have to manually go and supply a value for
an outcome) which in turn closes all the three task and generates a new task
(from third task action) which is actually throwing me the mentioned error.

I have provided all the mandatory fields for TMS:Task; am i missing few more
 fields.

Another option would be to go back to your earlier question on the Abydos
Task Type ID field. In your Create New Request action you can set this to
the p_task_id keyword which should prevent the error message you reported
from appearing.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your reply.
ProcessFallout.xml
http://ars-action-request-system.1.n7.nabble.com/file/n111223/ProcessFallou
t.xml
I will present to you my scenario in detail.
Once an incident is raised (New status), we have an external system which
will be doing some diagnostics and setting a value to a field based on the
diagnostics(lets call it zQuailifer in HPD:Help Desk form) and changing the
status to In Progress, now at this point we want process designer to
trigger the process and check another customized regular form (template
matrix)and select a template id based on this zQuailifer field and populate
the task/tasks for that incident based on the task template/task group
template id.

Can you please suggest how can we go ahead with this scenario. Currently I
am having the process like this:

Task 1. Fetch Outcome (this basically fetches the zQuailifer from HPD:Help
Desk form) Dependency Link 1 ( with AND type and value as PT) Task 2. Set
Value (this fetches few parameters from HPD:Help Desk form) Dependency Link
2 (no conditions) Task 3. Generate Task (this creates a record in TMS:Task
form with values retrieved earlier)

What i got from you is not to have Task3. Could you please suggest me a way
to query this template_matrix form based on zQualifier field.

Please find attached my process xml.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Saurabh

Jason,

Assuming that you map your QA answers to SR Type fields on the Service
Request, PD can use the values from these fields in the process to determine
the path to follow in the process, or use within actions (email messages,
pushing to other forms, etc)

Additionally, when the process creates a fulfilment request, it can store
the id of the request created to be referenced in further actions should you
need to read values from or update later on in the process.

The impact is:

From what I remember, the create request task in PD is just a push to the

trying to push to.

I remember the one thing that was missing was if you had a task to create a
change/incident from within another change/incident, it wouldn't push the
relationship to the respective Associations form.

Subject: Best practise on how to integrate/import XML-Datafiles to ARSystem 7.5

Hi all,
Has anyone a useful, relative simple and proven method to
integrate/import XML-Data files into ARSystem for the following scenario ?

The XML-files will be provided in a daily routine from ARIS (a business
process and design tool) to feed some ARS Forms. The transfer point for
the XML-files will be near or within the ARSystem database instance.
Before the XML-data will be imported to ARS Forms a consistency check
with existing data must be implemented to see if the arrived data is
o.k. as well as a way to check what the delta would be against existing
data. A delta.log should be created as a final approve for the sender to
import the new data.

I was thinking of a Vendor or View Form, providing the possibility to do
the consistency check with ars objects/workflow, since the customer has
no AIE. However, the challenge is, neither remedy nor aris follow the
xml-standrd with their files. Remedy is calling them ARSXML, ARIS
anything similar. I assume, therefore, no Vendor Form or View Form can
be created/bind with the ARIS xml-file.

I checked some ARIS documentation to see on what database it is running.
Standard install is Derby but also can be installed to MS-SQL or Oracle.
To Derby Database jdbc may connect to.

I have posted this request on BMC's community as well
https://communities.bmc.com/message/342360 for those who would like to
share their thoughts and experience with me. All other are kindly
invited to do via ARSList.

Any other way or hint on how to achieve customer requirement in a way
Vendor or View Form would do - is very welcome ?

regards. Ser Lif

interface forms right? You could probably do a set fields $service request
ID$ or the instance ID into the SRID fields o the interface form you're
trying to push to.
I remember the one thing that was missing was if you had a task to create a
change/incident from within another change/incident, it wouldn't push the
relationship to the respective Associations form.

in making it happen).

A feature that was added in SRM 8.0 and has really helped us steer clear of
AIFs are the Autofill Actions.

https://docs.bmc.com/docs/display/public/srm80/Autofilling+responses+in+an+SRD

So far this has provided the the ability to look up (Set Fields if you
will) configuration data that helps route the request to the correct
fulfilment app and/or Support Group.

As an example we built an ITSM Process Designer workflow because we thought
it was the only way (besides AIF) to create the dynamic process we needed
(configuration based fulfillment and assignment). Turns out there is a
major flaw in ITSM PD that doesn't create the linking records between
SRM:Request and the fulfillment apps (I call it a flaw but it is working as
designed, they just didn't finish the design). Since we started building
the system on 7.6.04 and upgraded to 8.0 we overlooked the introduction of
Autofill Actions. We were able to recreate the process within SRM and
everything worked as expected. Although I do miss the ITSM PD revisioning
and ease of import/exporting just an XML file to transfer between
environments.

have done more easily by customizing the Assignment Engine in retrospect.
The requirement I couldn’t meet was a custom type of assignment rule which
should have been included out of the box, the ability to assign to
different support groups based on Location Company. Still, since I got my
start purely doing ARS development I can’t help but feel a sense of
nostalgia for the days prior to working on ITSM so despite it taking
longer, it ends up being fun enough that I don’t mind.

 Shawn,

You're right. To me, AIF is always the answer at the end when out of the
box SRM solutions have been exhausted. Personally, I like to always save
that as a last resort or when the complexity of the service demands it.
I've found when I do that, it really forces someone to get creative with
 SRM and the standard functionality.

It may be overkill, but I haven’t seen anyone suggest an AIF (Advanced

whatever you want with it, and it will definitely allow you to have
multiple levels of conditions and such. The catch is that you’re doing
development so it’s not as fast, but where building a basic service request
form should take you 30 minutes the AIF may take you half of a day instead,
assuming you are familiar with ARS development

Re: Please help me

2013-07-04 Thread Chris Jones
Hi Robin,

Is there a specific reason for not supporting the View Form?

You could use the APIs as Mahendra suggested, or you could create a stored
procedure on your ARSystem database to pull the data into a temporary table and
have a view form of that.

Performance won't be a good as a View Form of the external table but if only
50-100 records then it may be acceptable.

Chris

When user enters a value in a field in Remedy form and press Enter, pull
matching records from an external system and display them in a table field.

External System:Telecordia Granite/Oracle

Additional information

1.The matching records can be many records(50-100)

2.Direct interaction with external system database is not supported.

3.Not required to store returned matching records in Remedy system.

Proposed solution

I proposed view form based solution, but the external team is not supporting it.

Please help me if you know any other solution for this requirement.Thanks.

Re: error when trying to open file in 7.6.04

2013-06-24 Thread Chris Jones
Hi Mahmoud,

For the PERFORM-ACTION-OPEN-URL to work, you should first check that the URL
works when entering directly into your browser.

Normally this would be prefixed by the http:// protocol indicator.

If you are trying to open a file on a network drive you could try using
file:// instead.

But basically once it works in your browser directly and the web server has
permissions to open it, it should then be fine.

Chris

It should still be an active link running this command, so you may need to
specify the network path to the server's D drive, so for example

file://server.domain.com/D$/test file:///\\server.domain.com\D$\test
