Do you have AIE and/or Recon jobs running at all? Are those engines even
installed anywhere?
I have also seen this with special characters being passed in Diary fields.
That was a few versions back but something to look at.

Creating Request From Request Console Causing Server Crash

2009-12-01 Thread dcharters
All,

I have a 7.5.1 patch 2 server running ITSM 7.5.1 patch 2. Every other time I
create a Request from the Requester Console (SRM NOT Installed) my services
crash and I loose my plug-in server. I restart the services but the plug-in
server is still down.
The fix is to comment out the plug-in lines in the conf file start the
services, delete the error event in CAI Events, then un comment out the plug-
in lines and restart the services.

Has anyone seen this before or have any idea why this might happen?

App Server: Solaris 10
Database: Oracle 10G
Database separate from App server

Are saying that when using ITSM 7.6 you should not use the Dataloader tool

Re: Is JDK 6 Update 14 Compatible?

2009-07-27 Thread dcharters
As I mentioned 7.1 CAN have issues with some of the upper JRE version. 7.5 is
more compatable except I know there is an issue with 7.5 and JRE 1.6_16
unless you are running the latest patch.

There are some known issues with some of the upper level releases. I would
recommend staying down in the _6 or less. Some of the new ones will work but
some won't, so again if you want to be sure stay at _6 or less.

ITSM Patch 5 failing

2007-10-03 Thread dcharters
Listers,

I have ARS 7.1 with Change, Problem Incendent, Asset, SLM and CMDB 7.0.1. I
installed Ptach 4 of each version initialy. I am now trying to install Patch
5. It has failed on 2 seperate servers multiple times. It fails on importing
some of the definition files. Has anyone seen this before?

There are a few issues with Patch 3 depending on how you install it. There is
a KB article on the issues.

Re: Freelance vs Consulting Firm

2006-08-22 Thread dcharters
I like the High-Brid aproach, go 1099 through a Remedy Partner. This gives
you some freedom and the ability to build solid relationships. It can be very
hard to find a firm to go through that isnt trying to gte a huge margin on
the deal or try to make you wait 30 days. I had 1 company think there was
nothing wrong with a $100.00/hr margin to the firm. I had another want
$50.00/hr and didnt want to pay till the company paid. All the firm does is
payroll and they get $2000.00 a week. Think for that kind of margin they can
fron the cash.

Just my 2 cents.

Windows 2000 and CMDB Performance Issues

2006-08-08 Thread dcharters
Listers,

I am creating a CMDB 1.1 Patch 3 with ITSM system. ARS 6.3 ITSM 6.0. We are
seeing many serious performance issues and we have not even started any heavy
testing. The CMDB times out when trying to do anything with it and we can not
hardly even search for a Ticket when an Import is running. A friend mentioned
it is because I am running Windows 2000 Server for the application server.
Has anyone heard this? If so is there any documentation or specific things
you can share about Windows 2000 and CMDB etc...

Also has anyone else experienced performance issues like this with CMDB?

ARS 6.3, ITSM 6.o, CMDB Patch 3, Application Server=Windows 2000, Database
Oracle 10G on a very beefy AIX box.

David Charters
