Character field data base name is showing as Database ID

Hi All,

We have created a new regular form in this form we have the character
fields are present when we are moving the form .def file to one server
to another server one of the character field data base name is coming
as data base id automatically .
Please find the below environment details :
Server Version: 5.01.02 Patch 1494
Operating System : HP-UX B.11.31
Data Base:Oracle 9.2.0.8.0-64bit

Can you please guide me why it is taking as data baseid instead of
data base name

Filter spliting into separate workflows

Hi All,

We have a requirement for A form when ever this form is submitted then we
need to push the data to Form B in this requirement we have written on
Submit and modify mode on form A to create a new record in form B given a
filter execution order is 1000 currently it is working fine  in this filter
we have mapped around 178 fields to push the data to form B .
Few cases the field values are pushing to  previous values(Updating ) on
form B .

Currently we are thinking creating a new request with the all mandatory
fields for form B fields separating the workflows with the execution
order 1000,non mandatory fields which are left from 178 fields planning to
create new workflows for each field so around 155 workflows need to create
and these workflow if no request match take no action if any request match
modify first match request with the execution orders will be the same 1000.

If I Implement like this way is there any performance issues will occurred?
Do you have any solution kindly let me know .

Remdy regular form fields properties

Hello All,

I have a regular  form which has a table field which gets data populated
from some backend table the table qualification is ('Supplier=$Supplier$
and Product=$Product Name$) displaying the name of back end values are more
what i want to display only 10 records when i click on some button (For e.g
Displaying total records are 20 when i moment click the button it should
display only 10 records and when i moment second time click on button it
should display reaming 10 records)
Kindly Suggest on this

One more question .
Once we  change the attribute value of as  Yes =“1” and No =“0” form the
front end radio button field is displaying like (field  No  Yes).
I belive it was taking assending order while displaying the fields.
Is there any workaround on this?

Hi All,

We are working completely customized BMC remedy application 5.1 version.
I have found one filter which is firing on Submit Mode .
In that filter setfield action Exact code is below
 'Target Date'=$PROCESS$ Application-Bus-Time-Add $TIMESTAMP$
$Target Delivery Lead Time$ 4 $Global Country$

Target Date and Global Country field is present in my form .

Could you please explain paramaters of above syntax ,how the Target
Date field value will set ?
 what does mean by 4?

Disable change flag

Hi All,


When we have a list of records in a form after a search and we scroll up
and down without making any change, we must never get the question Do you
want to save the request.

As we know we can do the  field to make disable  change flag should be
enable so that it will not ask for the Do you want to save the request


Could you please guide me how to use the Disable Change flag using the Run
process .
I have written one workflow which will fire window open,Load ,Display
Run if: $Operation$!=CREATE
If action : SET CHANGE FLAG 0

But it is not working ...

Requesting you to guide how to resolve.

I am not getting any error but my issue is not resolved when I am
searching records in form if i move the cursor one record to another record
without any changes it is asking for Do You Want to save the record.

Email Id validation in remedy

Hi All,

Could you please guide how to do the below requirements .

*Requirment1 :* Whenever there is a Space  Email Address remedy  should not
allow to create or save the form .
This space could be at any place in the email field, could be at the
beginning ,middle or end of the email ID.
So ideally this field should not accept a space anywhere in the field.

*Requirment2:*If there are two or more email ID 's in the email  field then
those should be separated by a semicolon (;), so if there is no semicolon
(;) between two email addresses then remedy should not allow to save form
It should throw any error message
Requesting you provide the suggestion on this.

How to monitor Remedy server

Hi All ,

I want  to monitor below things .

1. How many users has logged in to remedy server?
2. How many forms have been modified by users?
3. How many session that users has started at remedy server?
4. How many users have been logged into UNIX box?
5. Is there any Back up activity happening on any of the production
remedy servers ?
6. At UNIX level check how many process running currently and which
process taking long time and too much memory?

Could you please guide me how to check the above points.

Yes I have checked log enabled on the user tool ,API and Plugin logs
are enaled so i disabled all log and checked i am getting the same
error .

we are facing problem when i am opeing the Problem Investigation form
in a search mode when i click the search getting below error.

how to get the values instead of ID's in the Database table

Hi All,

I have 1 Mainform and 3 other regular forms mapped with the fields of
Main form respectively on the basis request id of other regular form.
The mapped fields have menus attached to it.
I can see the values properly in the Main form.
But in the Database of Main form  I am unable to see the values and I
am getting  the ID's on the fields related to Othere regular forms.
Please let me know how to get the values instead of ID's in the
Database table( Main Form)?

Hi Ann,

In the main form i have filed A  this field A is dependent on
prooduct and producttype value when the user select product and
product type value so i need to pass the product and product type
dynamic values to another form i.e regular form for getting the Field
A value for this approach i used Search menu.

Another form filed B( B filed also dependent on product and product
Type) based on the user selection of A filed value  it should derived
B filed value.
In this form  i have CReated A filed and accordingly i have mapped
with B filed data In this approach getting the values  i am using
Serach menu.in the search menu qulication i have given Database ID of
the main form Filed A Id and product and product Type Id's.

ITSM 7.1 Audit Log

Hi ,

Currently i am using ITSM 7.1 problem management .My question  is how
to use the View Audit Log .
I am aware of below .
On the Problem Management console, click the Search Problem  Console tab
 Open an problem Ticket .
 In the navigation pane, choose Functions  View Audit Log.

When i click the Audit Log i am getting audit log window is displaying
but the data which it displays is not clearly.

How to get The correct data when we click the View Audit Log.

If I want to use the external authentication what are the changes
required in remedy side.

we are planning to implement global login functionality but we are not
using the LDAP directories planning to use CSP Directories to
authenticate against username and password.

Could you please guide me how to use eternal authentication for midtier.

Could you please correct me if I am worng for below statement.

we have login.jsp file so in this file internally call the
LoginServlet file may be in the servlet  file is connected to the
application database and check the username and password if the
authentication success able to login to the midtier .

Yes your right we are setting only three numbers (The Database in put
length is also 3).last two day we are getting the error .what could be
the reason could you please let me know .

Midtier querie

Hi All,

I am looking for midtier gloabl login implementation .we are not using
LDAP server to verify the userid and passwords
we are planning to implement in  Security Platform it  provides
authentication (i.e., logon) services for UserID holders and other
user domains. Security Platform uses a single sign-on approach.

we are using ITSM 7.1 version
Basically I am looking for some solution like if a user is logging in
using Mid tier he should be logged in automatically if his user
credentials are present in the Security Platform.

Does anybody have any idea about this, or anybody has tried this before.

How to validate username and password

Hi,


My Requirement is whenever a User logins to remedy User tool,i have to
validate their user id and password.

There is a java Program/Perl script which is used to validate this,  i
have to pass the username and password in to this program.

My Question is how do i call this Java Program/Perl Script when i
login in to the Remedy User tool.

Uploading CSV file data in form

Hi All,

How can  I upload the file containing data in the remedy form. I want to
Create a Attachemt filed in Form when evevr user want to Upload a CSV file
Csv file containg the data (Form fields data ) once uploading done we need
to update the records in form (e.g.open tickets need to update the status
to Close ).
1) How to create a pop up window where I need to upload a new CSV file.
2) After we upload the file the form should use that CSV and update the
multiple records using the CSV in the form

toll or  need to purchase any licenses .

My User will provide bulk of data in CSV file format  if your
importing data is it possible to  create a records in remedy? As of
now the user is creating manually we want automate ticket generation
for particular form.

Thanks for your reply .In my application it is happening when I closed
a ticket and also I can reopen the ticket but my requirement is how to
restrict this functionality for a specific Group.(In that particular
group cannot do closed to reopen ).I have customized form User form
also present in my application in this user form I can create a users
that user can access my application .
How to do please help me on this ASAP

DSO Issue

I want to send one form data in to another form two different AR
servers when i am submiting form of source server the same date is
pushed to another server with specified form in That i have created
one DSO and fileter i have created in the filter i am calling my DSO
The data is not pushing to Target server .

Could you please guide me .

I have checked below command to check whether the serverds is running or not

ps -ef | grep serverds | wc -l I got a reply 1 that means I think
server is running properly could you please sugessest if anything
wrong for checking  the server running or not.

I have checked corresponding line for serverds.exe is commented or not
please find the below .

/opt/ar/xserver/bin/arservdsd -s xserver -I /opt/ar/xserver.

Could you please tell me is anything i need to check .

Q) Can you sending server, see the destination server? at an operating level?
Yes I am able to see the destination server name .when i am
configuring i can  able to see the Target server name and also forms
which are present in the target server.
Q) is the destination server declared in your hosts file?
 No not yet decleared could you please guide how to set the server
in host file and also tell me the path .

 On unix the hosts file is in /etc

 On windows its in windows\system32\drivers\etc

 If you look at the file you will see the format for entering server names.

 You must use the server name that you use in the dso mapping e.g.
 Y.bst.com and the ip address.

 Then restart dso processes on both  machines.

 When it fails are you seeing anything in the arerror.log
 ?

Integartion with ITSM Module and Customized

Hi All,

we are using one serverA is completely customized with the server
version is  7.5  and another serverB is ITSM problem management with
the version 7.1
I am looking for single interface to view all the tickets information
associated with the ServerA and ServerB
Is it possible to achieve my requirement?
Do you know a better way?

Could you please share your Ideas and suggestions

Cannot establish a network connection to the AR System server

Hi All,

I am unable to access the server i am getting below error :

ARERR [90] Cannot establish a network connection to the AR System
server : servera : RPC: Miscellaneous tli error - System error
(Connection refused).

When i am trying to restart the server below error i am getting.

ld.so.1: arserverd: fatal: libclntsh.so.9.0: open failed: No such file
or directory.

In arrerror log file Below errors:

My question Is like I have form with field FirstName when i am going
to save the form i have given the field value Test and when i am
searching for record i have given filed value test it is showing
warring like no request match error but My requirmrment is it should
display .

Please help how to do .

Hi
the Work Info tab on a problem management  ticket, once user select a
work info item to view, user should be able to view the other work
info items without coming in and out of the 'Investigation Work info'
window all the time.

For Example: In work Info Tab has about 19 work info items and user
need to open/close 19 windows to read all updates.

Once user selects one of the work info item and view in investigation
info popup , he should be able to navigate through remaining work info
items in same popup for same session



Appreciate your suggestion/ideas.

 Your only other option would be to customize the table field on the Problem
 Investigation form to show whatever additional columns of data you are
 looking to view all at once between all the work info entries.  I'm not
 exactly sure what you are trying to accomplish, but if you're simply looking
 for a running log of all the work info entries together, simply use the
 Report button below the work info table.
