Re: [Astlinux-users] Astlinux-users Digest, Vol 198, Issue 6
Thanks Ionel, I also do astlinux backups via scp to a remote NAS that way. What I've set up now are automated backups from local laptops into a disk directly plugged to the Astlinux box. The disk is powered on at specific times, then Astlinux mounts the disk, rsyncs some folders in the laptops into it and then umounts the disk and powers it off until the next scheduled backup. It's a cheap solution giving a second life to an old disk and it's working well so far. Regards. [Astlinux-users] Astlinux Telegram notifications
Hi, This message is to ask if adding Telegram (or similar messaging applications) integration to Astlinux in addition to currently available mail ones would be something possible in the near future. I use them with custom scripts and with Monit which is quite easy to achieve via Telegram API by executing a simple command line, but I'd like to do the same from asterisk-sip-monitor script (for example) which I think should be pretty easy with a few little modifications but as it's generated on boot time based on GUI configuration I haven't been able to get it working (if there's some way to customize that script please let me know). Also I think providing notifications via some messaging apps would add more flexibility. Thanks for your incredible work. Re: [Astlinux-users] Astlinux-users Digest, Vol 174, Issue 1
Hi, Thanks, I try to explain full details: I have 2 free DDNS providers: Changeip (configured from GUI) and Afraid.org (configured in a custom script executed after boot from /mnt/kd/rc.local). Apparently both are working fine and everytime there's an IP address change both domains are updated, but while there's no IP change after each check the first one is flooding logs with error messages showing it tries to update domain with a void IP field: "Feb 1 18:27:42 astlinux daemon.notice ddclient[2135]: WARNING: SENT: http://nic.changeip.com/nic/update/nic/update?hostname=domain.changeip.org= Feb 1 18:27:42 astlinux daemon.notice ddclient[2135]: WARNING: REPLIED: 506 Invalid IP address submitted. Check syntax. Feb 1 18:27:42 astlinux daemon.notice ddclient[2135]: FAILED: updating domain.changeip.org: Invalid reply." (*) Note the first log line in which the IP field sent at the end of the URL is void If I look at the file /var/db/ddclient.cache generated by first ddclient daemon, the IP field is missing: "## ddclient-3.8.3-07 ## last updated at Mon Feb 1 18:32:42 2021 (1612200762) atime=1612200762,host=domain.changeip.org,mtime=0,status=failed,status-ipv6=,warned-min-error-interval=0,warned-min-interval=0,wtime=0 domain.changeip.org" And if I look at the file /var/db/ddclient_2.cache generated by the second ddclient daemon the IP field is present: "## ddclient-3.8.3-07 ## last updated at Sun Jan 31 15:41:32 2021 (1612104092) atime=0,host=domain.privatedns.org,ip=XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX,mtime=1612103790,status=good,status-ipv6=,warned-min-error-interval=0,warned-min-interval=0,wtime=30 domain.privatedns.org" I'm not sure if the problem is exactly the same but I found this link reporting very similar behaviour which seems solved in latest ddclient versions: https://github.com/linuxserver/docker-ddclient/issues/11 Regards. -- > On Jan 31, 2021, at 9:14 AM, Gonzalo Ib??ez wrote: > > Hi, > > Any chance of getting ddclient updated (v3.9.1 is the latest) on next > astlinux release? > > I'm getting some errors with some domain providers (ex. Hi Michael, Thanks for your answer, I understand it and that analog lines are disappearing in most areas and specifically on professional environments (it's the same here in Europe) but expected still support for home / SOHO users and less developped areas; perhaps not new developments for old hardware but at least keeping support for them...one of the reasons I like Linux is that is a way of avoiding programmed obsolescence. Re: [Astlinux-users] Still problems with 1.2.7
Hi all, I run across a similar issue after upgrading from astlinux 1.2.6.1_1.8.37 to 1.2.7_1.8.37 on a x86_64 board. After lots of debugging the issue was that the "rootdelay=10" kernel option on the .run.conf file needed for my external USB flash to boot was lost in the upgrading process. I'm not sure if that was caused by the upgrading script or it was my fault for not rebooting after running the "upgrade with new firmware" and before running the "upgrade with new runnix" scripts (instead I run both update scripts in a row and rebooted later). After making a fresh 1.2.7 install and restoring my old ASTURW partition on it everything worked again. I hope this helps somebody. Regards. The details ... I dusted off an old Jetway NF96FL-525-LF with a 1 GB Emphase IDE DOM, a geni586-serial image with Asterisk 11. Since the box had an old version, I first upgraded to 1.2.6.1 extracted from the mirror.astlinux-project.org repository (I had to use an intermediate private repo to set the 'ver' file) All went well. I then upgraded using the Repository URL: http://mirror.astlinux-project.org/ast11-firmware-1.x to upgrade to 1.2.7 . All went well. I then reverted to the previous image (1.2.6.1), worked fine. I went back and forth several times, using both reboot and kernel-reboot. All worked. So then I started of scratch, I dd'ed the 1.2.6.1 Installer ISO to a USB drive, persuaded the Jetway BIOS to boot from USB and installed a fresh 1.2.6.1 via the AstLinux Installer (wow, that IDE DOM is very slow). I did a Initial configuration as normal, and 1.2.6.1 was running. I then upgraded to 1.2.7, reverted back to 1.2.6.1, back and forth several times, using both reboot and kernel-reboot. All worked. So, I don't know what to tell you Michael. Possibly you might want to try "dosfsck" to try to find any errors on your /dev/sda1 FAT16 partition. You may also try while in 1.2.7 "upgrade-RUNNIX-image upgrade" to install the latest RUNNIX bootloader, but I don't think that is the issue, but no harm to try. Hopefully these details may help you. Re: [Astlinux-users] DNSCrypt interest
Hi, I think DNSCrypt support would be a great idea and a perfect complement for Firewall and VPN featrures already available. I hope to see it soon in a stable release. Thanks Lonnie for your great job and regards. Please comment, Is there any interest in AstLinux supporting DNSCrypt ? As you may or may not know, DNSCrypt offers encrypted privacy for DNS, while DNSSEC provides zone authentication. Complimentary, each solving different issues. More Info: -- DNSCrypt | OpenDNS http://www.opendns.com/about/innovations/dnscrypt/ DNSCrypt http://dnscrypt.org/ -- At this point we are just looking into it, the dnscrypt-proxy 1.3.3 and libsodium 0.4.5 packages would need to be added to our Buildroot which could be a problem until it is tried. Would you use DNSCrypt ? Do we / customers really care ? Is DNSCrypt the longterm standard for encrypted privacy for DNS ? This is mostly an OpenDNS thing now, though a few other DNS prividers around the world also support DNSCrypt. The dnscrypt-proxy package seems fairly lightweight, implementation would be a simple checkbox and automatically configuring dnsmasq to use the defined static DNS entries directly or via dnscrypt-proxy listening on 127.0.0.2 . Re: [Astlinux-users] FOP2 question
Hi Lonnie, You were absolutely right: the problem was simply that my lighttpd server wasn't serving fop2 root directory; a symbolic link on my lighttpd root directory to fop2 root directory solved the issue.
