Turn Based Story Telling

Turn Based Story Telling

Hello. This is something me and a couple people on Klango used to do, or at least this is close. Basically, I as the topic poster will start a story, and you guys add onto it. There are only 2 rules:1. Try to read every post made on here to make sure you know the full story.2. Whenever someone says something, just go with it. Don't try to change their story. Meaning, if someone says the planet fell into a black hole, don't say "no it didn't, it blew up." Of course, it's OK to say "there have been roomers over the years that the planet blew up, but scientists have concluded that it definitely has fallen into a black hole."I'd love to see how this turns out. Here we go.You can't believe your boss made you work unpaid overtime tonight. Not only do you have a baby at home to take care of, but your husband is sending you angry texts wondering why you're not at home yet. You keep working while thoughts of how stupid your boss is and how pushy your husband can be go through your mind. He constantly nags and nags, you think he's to much like your mother. At least he doesn't call her and tell her about you, then you'd never hear the end of it. A few hours later, your idiot boss finally releases you from work. As you walk home, thinking of how you could sew him for not paying you for the extra hours at work, you trip over a rock and fall down a hole in the sidewalk. The combination of fear and Adrenalin from the rapid descent causes you to black out, and your last thought is wondering if this is karma for the constant negative thoughts running through your mind. You wake up a couple hours later, and find yourself in a cave. What happens next?

2017-12-10 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — New releases room : WintergreenKitty via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Swamp, zombie FPS by Aprone

Greetings Swamp community.  I am WintergreenKitty.  Any of you who browse the Introductions thread may remember me.  You may have been thinking; "Yo, I remember you mentioned you were gonna do all this cool stuff, then you just disappeared. What the hell happened?"  I do apologize for that. I ran into a fair bit of technical difficulties. That has hopefully all been sorted however, so here I am. Anyway, onto more interesting stuff. So, a bit about me.  I am a sighted, full-time Twitch.tv live-streamer, (well, except for the past couple months, due to the aforementioned technical difficulties).  I actually found my way to AudioGames.net as a result of my search for some quality games for my friend who is completely blind. I actually posted a whole breakdown of that in my introduction thread post, so I'm not going to retype that entire narrative here, haha.  Anyway, due to the rather high amount of enjoyment I've gotten from a couple of the games I've discovered on here, I intend on adding audio games to my regular streaming schedule.  On that note, I can honestly say that both Swamp and Manamon have got to be two of the most thoroughly enjoyable games I've purchased in 2017 (and yes, that is even including all of the PS4 and Steam games I've picked up this year).  Now, what I am interested in finding out first of all, is who in this community would be  interested in being part of a viewing audience for this sort of content.  Now, a bit of real talk here, regardless of whether the interest is highly overwhelming, or is 0%, I still fully intend on regularly live-streaming both Swamp and Manamon as, quite honestly, I very thoroughly enjoy these games.  So no worries, even if there is only one or two of you who'd be interested, it is going to still happen, as I feel both of these games deserve significantly more exposure.  The reason I would like to know the level of interest is more so I can get some feedback in doing my best to make this content as user-friendly for my non-sighted viewers as possible.  Providing accessible content on my channel is something that will be 100% new to me, and there are some things I'd really like to know like, for example: How accessible is Twitch chat? and How nicely do screen reader programs such as JAWS play with community-based programs such as Discord? Among a number of other things. I do actually have two programs which output Twitch chat in text-to-speech form, that I've used for other purposes, but alas, though they do have free trials, neither of them is free. I actually intend on beginning to broadcast Swamp at the very least, hopefully within the next day or two, and Manamon in the very near future.  Also, if there is a different section on this forum in which I should post about this to increase it's exposure, any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I am still very new to AudioGames.net.Now, I'd like to speak a bit on my experience with the members of the Swamp community thus far.  Overall, the experience has been incredibly positive. I don't actually know what their usernames are on here, but three players off the top of my head that certainly contributed towards making this experience so great, would be BlindSlayer, Marky, and Charlie Brown.  I'd personally like to thank you folks for assisting me in getting a hang of a lot of the basics.  You folks are some quality fellows. Also, I managed to get myself a lesson in humility after a round of CTF with a few other fellows.  You see, being a professional-level Dark Souls player for almost 7 years, at times, can really get me into the mindset of an overconfident bastard, when it comes to anything PvP related.  I do believe that I grossly underestimated the skill level of my opponents.  Turns out that being number 1 in the Demon's Souls Pantheon, and a top-tier competitive Dark Souls player does not translate into me being top-tier at playing a PvP game with my ears as opposed to my eyes, haha.  I did actually manage to get 4 flags, which I was quite proud of for my first performance, but those individuals on the enemy team were quite skilled indeed.  Overall, I would say it was an enjoyable experience, except for the whole part of, at times, getting killed repetitively on the spawn platform as soon as I respawned, before I could even move north/south and get sent back into the base (hint hint, Aprone may want to take a look into that, cause that's really kinda some BS, just saying).  I also found it rather frustrating that you do not start with an ax in CTF mode (honestly kind of curious as to why exactly that is, as I find it to be quite limiting in certain aspects).  Though, even with those issues considered, I do not wish to detract in any way from the high amount of skill those opposing players possess. I tip my hat to you gentleman; well played.Alright, well, I do believe this message is long and rambling enough already.  Looking forward to hearing from this fine

Re: Tips and tricks on using the command line.

For Mac users, if you downloaded the applications from outside the App Store, when you try to open it, you may get an error message stating that the file is damaged and can't be open. And then it gives you the option to move the file to the trash. That because of the Gate keeper. to fix this, open Terminal, and type the following:sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Lockedapp.app.For example, if I had an application called "Bla.app", and if Gate keeper blocked this app, I would type this command into Terminal: sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Bla.app, and hit enter.Note: You will need to enter your password to make changes to the system.Hope this helps for new Mac users who having trouble run certain apps on their system.

Reread the post above from Lucas, you might wanna set a message like this on your login screen. Sorry if this post seems  hypocritical, I've seen developers shy away from posting pretty amazing projects  for fear of comments such as this. It’s just plain discouraging overallI clearly outlined my point-of-view and what I considered he had said. Post 40 was destructive because, as I said in it, I don't see a point to this editor. That's my point of view, not yours, not Lukas's, not anyone elses but my own. The other stuff in that comment was certainly not destructive towards the editor and more towards what I thought he was trying to do -- in other words, make his IDE look better just because you supposedly can't write BGT in it -- a method which I described in that post. I have clearly outlined my constructive criticisms above -- just rewrite it in a programming language that's not bound by game-specific interfaces like C++ or even C#. Hell, even rewrite it in PureBASIC!As for your notification that you'll destructively criticize anything I'll make, fine by me -- I'll just completely ignore you and, if I don't, I might as well crush your arguments while I'm at it to humiliate you right back. Your post said, and I quote from it: "These are the exact type of comments that discourage future developers." Perhaps these comments discourage future developers on this forum, but definitely not in the other developer communities out there! You look up new programs on the internet and what do you see? Why, criticism of all kinds, destructive, constructive, and maybe even other types I can't think of! What do the developers do about it? They either ignore it, or try to figure out the constructive side of the destructive criticism, or do something else. Your idea of me putting that on my login screen is laughable. Sorry, but I'm not doing that. You certainly can on yours, though! Another form of supposedly "destructive criticism" you'll find on developer forums is the major question that stumps most new developers of, "How will this program help me? What does it provide that other programs do not?" So far, the starter of this topic has not answered either of this questions other than to say that this program helps with code folding, something I never use anyway.

That, plus the game being quite buggy as it is. Now it's true I didn't encounter any game breaking bug as of yet, but one of my friends didn't have this chance and had to deal with a giant spider skeleton crashing the game, and had to start over.

Re: Ride, new code editor for blinds

@Rastislav Kiss, Visual Studio is only for a few languages my ass. Excuse me, but are you deliberately trying to make your editor look better than an editor that is probably older than you, and that is made by a company with way more experience in this kind of thing than you are? That's a very bold statement to make and clearly shows you don't really no shit about visual studio at all. Visual Studio has, out of the box, support for Visual BASIC, Visual C#, Visual C++, Visual F#, SQL, Azure, and several others. Install VisualD and you have support for the D programming language. Install RemObjects Elements and it adds RemObjects Silver (Swift), RemObjects Oxygene (advanced Pascal), RemObjects C#, and RemObjects Iodine (Java). Let's not forget that all four of these languages -- Silver, Oxygene, Iodine, and C# -- that come with RemObjects not only can compile to the .NET platform, but also have the support to be built for Mac OS X, Android, JVM, and native code! So, excuse me for sounding harsh when I say that it sounds like your trying to make your editor look better than visual studio is... sorry, but that's just not going to work. I can easily write BGT code in it: I create a new blank solution, add a text file with the .bgt file extension and boom, I can write BGT code in it! Sure, I won't have all the advanced functions of a programming language editor but I can still write code for BGT. Let's not forget that looking on the Visual Studio marketplace for other languages brings up many, many others, including Kotlin, Liquid Languages, Java, Razor, SQF, C#, Pascal, Twig, and Flow. And that's not counting the numerous languages visual studio code supports either! So, yes, I shall continue to consider your editor pointless and an absolute waste of your time to write (unless it's for educational purposes, which is fine) considering the truly integrated development environments out there that make this program absolutely vanish off the internet in comparison. Again, I seriously don't mean to be rude, but that post -- 37, specifically -- made it sound like you were trying to make your editor better than visual studio just because you and you alone couldn't write BGT code in it.

Does jaws 12 have OCR? I have jaws 12 on windows 7, and since i don't want to pay to upgrade to 16 or 2018 since i'll have to pay like 1000 bucks to upgrade 5 versions to 2018, version 12 is the one i'm stuck with. Is there any built in OCR or anything I can install to use it? I've only just discovered that it works on pdfs, up until last week I thought those were completely inaccessible. I also would be able to actually use steam. I don't want to use NVDA unless I really have to, any solutions? I'm using windows 7 remember, so I don't think there's built in OCR like in 10. I will probably have to use NVDA for this, but if I can I'd prefer jaws.

What do people think about the bose qc35 II head phones

Tomorrow a nice new bose QC35 II headpone is coming. Yes, it is sort of a early christmas gift. So, what do people think about these? Is there any accessibility problems? As far as I can tell, these will not replace my Sennheiser HD 380 Pro headphones that I am currently using to listen to music off of my desk computer and IPhone and what not. As best as I can tell, the QC35 II headphones will be a pretty good wireless headphone per say. This will be good for those times when I just do not want to deal with those wires. A good example of this is podcast listening. Plus, the noise cancellation should be good if everything I am reading is true. Do people Not like these? If so, why? On the other hand, if people like these, knowing what is liked about them would be helpful too...

Re: Flexible survival mud

Re: Flexible survival mud

Well on the one hand the premise is certainly a little odd and I won't pretend that some of the descriptive language and a few of the in game mechanics can be on the rough side, eg, you do get descriptions of your characters genitalia, and some of the actions such as losing in combat directly equate to rather overthetop intercourse, and you can actually milk your own character to get a debuff combat item. On the other hand, if you can accept the premise there are a lot of  ways to limit the game's output, for example the perks graceful in defeat and self control mean that you won't ravish or be ravished by monsters after combat, and the perk cold fish means that you won't randomly start getting messages  about your characters' increasing libido. I'd actually say on the hole the game is less adult than the single player version, though mostly that is because the single player version has far more combat. In community terms, I have been quite impressed. There are a lot  automated controls in place to insure that you can make it clear what you are and aren't interested in, but even if you don't set these, nobody will try to get you involved in something you don't want to, that seems to be a major part of the game's etiquette. when I started the mud I was careful to set my rp preference to none, since erotic rp is definitely not! something  want to do for a start it'd feel rather too disloyal to the wonderful lady i am married to, without whom I'd likely still be suffering far too major genophobia to go anywhere near a game like this, however when i did try a little in character chat and introduction just to test the waters, people were absolutely fine, just discussing character backgrounds and the world and such and nothing unsavoury. While I am enjoying the game quite a lot, the quests, the activities,  the rather unique combat and the world,  it is certainly not everyone's cup of tea.

New to chrome, a couple things.

So after dealing with the slowfest that's Firefox 57 for a bit, I decided I'd give Chrome a shot, I was meaning to for a while.I actually really like it, but a few questions. For Facebook users, has anyone else experienced this? I just logged in using Facebook mobile, however the layout I get seems to be something inspired by the Facebook app on my phone, not the slimmed down Facebook mobile that I'm used to seeing. Is there any way to get that back? If I use Facebook using mobile it's usually because I just want to check out a few posts or post a quick status, the extra clutter is kinda meh.I looked through all the settings, but couldn't find anything.Secondly, on Firefox, even with screen layout off using this site as an example, not sure how it worked but I grew accustomed to it automatically removing certain unneeded blank lines, however Chrome doesn't seem to be doing that. Is that a thing I can activate?Lastly, as I've been writing this I've noticed that every time I press enter NVDA reads everything I just typed. Is there a way to stop it from doing that? It's not really that big of an issue, but it does bother me slightly.Any help with these would be much appreciated.Thanks.

Sorry Enes, I really don't know.I mean obviously sites like anandtech will have agonizingly complete breakdowns when it comes out, but before then...Well, the newer Latitudes can't hold a candle to the old ones like Orco's 830 when it comes to durability and easy maintenance, they don't use magnesium reinforcements any more, the keyboard isn't as tightly attached to the case, and on most of them, you have to remove the hole back plate, including numerous tiny screws and easily breakable plastic clips to get to the hardware, though when you finish that, you do have access to almost everything; fan, HHD/SSD, RAM, battery, even wireless card, ETC.Also, your just not going to be able to afford a new one, so without a ton of digging in the more obscure deal sites, here's the best one I could find.Dell Latitude E5470 Refurbishedhttps://www.amazon.com/Dell-Latitude-Bu … 7817224011Here's a good reviewhttps://www.notebookcheck.net/Dell-Lati … 556.0.htmlOnly things they don't mention are that the g, h, f, and D keys, function keys, and especially enter key are smaller than usual, and of course the model on amazon has a 500GB 7200RPM HDD not an SSD, a touchscreen, and no fingerprint reader.

I am tempted to try out this game, but the premis is just creepy!LOL, I have never thought of myself as prudish, modest for sure, but not pathologically so.I like the sound of the jobs and crafting, and even the combat sounds interesting for the way it lets you pause and read.Maybe I'll just keep an eye on this topic, and see how you all like the game before I try it out.One thing that turned me away from it initially was that I thought there would be a lot of strange people trying to push you into graphic roleplay, but if that's not the case, it may be worth a look.

I'm bad at a lot of stuff, just start playing through the games, and you'll start to pick up some skills. A lot of the games are definitely not easy, and I have only beaten  two worlds, but you'll get it in time, there's no long-term penalty for losing so just stick with it. Eventually you'll probably rock at all those games.

hi guys,So this editor does work and does it's job grately. The features I miss in it is the ability to open files from other drives and if i open a file which doesn't have indentation it should divide the code into blocks using brases( I mean {}). that way ride will save me a tun of timing which I need to spend for indenting my c++ style code so that I can navigate with ease. Keep the job up. It doesn't matter in which language you wrote it, only what matters is your program should work.Regards,Amit

My complaint about not being able to choose components not to install comes from the size of JAWS. If I allow only JAWS itself to be installed, it is less than 20 MB, but if I allow the remote access components to be installed, the size jumps up to over 150 MB.With that in mind, and that I have no need for remote access functionality, I always marked those components to not be installed. So now I'm forced to install over 140 MB of bloatware I'll never use.Stupid, stupid, stupid!

To add to my CP struggles. The Ice World is a nightmare and any game with a polar bear in it is liable to kill me enough times that I'll probably lose the level. The second path I just found in the volcano has ridiculous walking bombs I never seem to escape, which is particularly problematic in the second one where you're supposed to let them explode, just not near you (THEY'RE ALWAYS RIGHT NEAR ME WHEN I START THE GAME AND THEN THEY CHASE ME IF THEY DON'T JUST STAY IN MY WAY). I have only gotten to the third game in the City once, and I'm beginning to think that I was extremely lucky, because I'm lucky if I can get a positive score on the letterbox thing and the big rats always seem to get me before I get any of their tiny buddies. And don't even get me started on the darkness World. How am I supposed to get better at these things if I can't even complete them?

Re: Can't install jaws 2018 no matter what I do

Whether they want it or no, one day they will have to rewrite it and even they know it. About the new installer, it's just a great thing they god rid of that ancient stupid installer that takes 1 hour to download .net framework and 30 minutes to get the OCR package. This new one took me 5 minutes to install jaws. Not as fast as NVDA, but that can't be even expected due to how many components jaws needs. About choosing the components you want: The previous installer allowed you to choose between typical and a custom install, while the new one doesn't. Either this is an oversight, although the custom install was mostly there for choosing some legacy components that noone uses nowadays like hardware synths, and also most people didn't even use the custom install option so they wanted the install process to be as simple as possible since they had to make TTS speak through the entire process.

Re: Ride, new code editor for blinds

I beta-tested it and didn't have much practice with it, but what I do know about it makes this little editor completely pointless.Hmm really? Well, I can't imagine how non-released plugin can help me in coding. Also taking in fact, that Visual studio is only for few languages, I want to see you writing bgt code in it.But anyway, if we consider VS useful or not, I think it is absolutely off-topic to attack Ride with something, that was not released yet.If you write instead of your aggressive messages simple announcement, that you saw similar plugin for Visual studio, I'll say nothing. Also if you simply write, that Ride have its limitations, that is also okay, because it have, that is reality. But only blindly criticizing it, marking it as a pointless and stupid, when in the final comes out that you compared with piece of code which we never saw and is not released yet, well, that is little bit off or not? Also to the others, Ethin wrote that Ride works only on my computer and noone others. While I think he did not tried it personally yet, I will appreciate your feedback. But not only in form it don't work, I need to know exactly with what you do have problems, so I can fix it.It is true I designated Ride primary for my needings, but I think there are other programmers who may find it useful, so I want to make it as usable as possible. For example, there was wrote, that Ride does not read some characters properly, including spaces and similar stuffs. That may look like a bug, but it isn't, or better sayd is, but Ride is ready for this situation. I have also expected this problem during programming, so I equipped Ride with effective solutions.First there is a character substitution possibility. When you screenreader does not read for example space, just target it by cursor and press ctrl+d. Then, wrote "space" to the newly opened dialog, and next when you cross over this character, Ride will represent it as a space. You can also make specified characters to be spoken in strings, for example when you are browsing lines. This is useful typically in the case of { and } symbols, where you can define referring descriptions for them by ctrl+r shortcuts, again targeted on the character, and Ride will then always change them by your description when speaking some string. And it is also good when you want to make screenreader silence on some characters, for example NVDA is still reading basic parentheses, what I don't like, so with text Rendering ability of Ride, I am able to prevent it from doing this if I want.@Lukas: Your suggestions look pretty nice. I have thought about something like Project explorer in Eclipse before, but I preferred earlier release of Ride, because I needed its help in my projects immediately, but now, when things are done and they work, I can think also about this feature. Only problem now is, that Ride is not programmed full in Ride, so I will need to make indentation in it. About autoindenter, and other stuffs, they can be of course also added, but I must to think out some system how to separate them, so user have access to them but Ride stays universal. I already know people who are actively using it also for other stuffs like programming, so it would be good to not tie to a specific language, but make it as an plugin for example.I have already seen your email message, I will respond soon, so we can discuss it privately in our native languages. Best regardsRastislav

There is an attack phase and a movement fase.  First press X to select the character, moving to where you want, and confirm.  You will know when you move outside the grid, because you will hear a hideously unpleasant sound.  When done moving your characters, press the circle button and the music will change.  Once again select a character, and again to confirm your attack.  When a character is selected, the square button will take you  to the items and skills selection.  The L button will cycle through enemy targets, and the are Button through friendly.

hmmm I wonder. I've been thinking about this. are you going to have ship engine sounds in the game? because I'm wondering if you could for example target a vestle, when the vestle is targeted you could have a series of beeps like you would get for missile tracking. the closer the beep sounds are together the closer the vestle is. you could have the beeps and the engine noise of the specific vestle changing in relation to where you are. so you could hear it off to your left or right. increase in pitch of the targeting beep could mean it's above you a decrease is below you. when the target is centered you could have a constant beep or a different type of sound.before you you go into the actual game you could have a training mission. some mainstream games do this. this would talk you through the main controls you would need for flight navigation etc.how are you going to deal with hyperspace? depending on what you say I might have some ideas on that.

I use to use juice, but that thing hasn't been updated in like forever. Then I tried accessible podcatcher, but some feeds wouldn't work with it.Now I'm just using iTunes, even though some podcast episodes refuse to work for some reason. It seams, no matter what application you use, there is always going to be some sort of problem with it.If juice was fixed up a bit, and kept up to date, I would gladly go back to it.Juice was great for its time, accessible, and opensource. It even had a bunch of podcast directories to brows through.I think these days most, if not all the ones for mobiles let you search directories.Accessible podcatcher had a directory, wich was always a huge mess, seriously if I was that developer I think I would just get rid of the directory and have a nice, easy to use podcatcher.I guess that's what you get when you allow the users to submit feeds directly from the application.I haven't used accessible podcatcher for a couple of years now, so for all I know, things could be different.I stopped using it around the time when the developer was breaking up his applications into separate installers.I'm not even sure if his programs are still around. It's the same developer that brought you all those accessible BBC apps, and I'm sure most of us still remember that accessible web browser, webIE.

Combat would be in real time and part of the flight sim, when flying to and from planets. Just like elite. The main trick is allowing the player to identify and chase ships and objects through space.I'm experimenting with simulating a doppler change in tone to provide a more immediate indication of whether an object is moving towards you or away, in combinaton with amplitude and stereo positioning.I'm using simple sounds built into the language, which includes 8 different simple waveforms or voices.Objects and ships would sound like beacons playing a simple pattern very fast, so you can distinguish between missiles and ships. The pattern reverses when the object is behind you. It's all experimental at the moment. The size of the universe is undetermined at the moment. At minimum, it needs to be large enough to explore, and allow navigation while avoiding anarchy systems. But we're talking hundreds of star systems at the least. The universe would be procedurally generated, with a few creative touches.I'm still working on the method of creating a simple solar system, and how much it could contain. This has to be joined up with the ability to create missions and spawn ships, both enemy and neutral.
