I would like a progression or levels so that I feel like I'm going through a campaign or progressing in some way.Perhaps it could be as simple as you're a general jumping through 3-5 year chunks and every so often one of the factions calls on you to lead ships to win a battle. I just want something that will progressively make the game harder while making me feel like I'm part of the story somehow.I would also love to see a high scores board. This game would also be perfect for multiplayer battles, similar to Starcraft. Rather than making it turn-based, both players could set their ships at the same time, then the maps only sink once both have made their moves. Then there could be rankings.

Yup. You're talking about a bit more of an extreme version of what I'm on about.I take the points you're making and I mostly agree with them, actually. If NFB does precisely that, then that's something of an issue. ditto to anyone else.What I'm saying is that when it comes to things like talent shows, I'm willing to give you some points, at least, for coming out and trying. That takes courage, and unless you are a complete and utter disaster up there, then you made something of yourself and deserve recognition. Do you deserve to win just for showing up? Nope. But recognizing your effort is a good thing.If I'm judging, I'm not going to say "You were really really good, but you didn't quite make it" to someone who clearly needs a lot of work. If my opinion is sought, I'm going to say something like, "We had a lot of good competition this year. I'm really glad that you came out and gave it a try. Try to work a bit more on such-and-such, because we'd love to see what you can do next year." That doesn't actually tell them they were awesome - quite the opposite - but it doesn't spit in their face either. Because I want them to feel glad that they tried, glad that they came out.And if we're talking a straight-up talent show, not a competition, then the best way to set that up is to do auditions beforehand, and cut the weakest. If that isn't done, then it's more about anyone who has courage coming up and doing whatever it is they do. And at that point it stops being about competition and starts being about bravery and public performance and all that jazz.

Hey all.So here's the deal. There's an open source spanish game called fifo, lifo or leafoe for us. It's a medieval exploration, crafting, battling and clan style ish thing.The instructions of how to set the thing up are in the same open source project, and if indeed there's the spanish version getting continuously updated at www.lifo.es, I wanted to bring this thing to the english community, obviously translating it for you all.But obviously I need some help. I'm at the university studying programming and music, and might not have lots of time to code or moderate the game itself, so basically that's why i'm searching for a development team if you guys are interested in this project.The game is browser based and the languaje is PHP, obviously having grafficks as it was originally not intended for us blind people but was pretty accessible. This is what i'll do:I'll translate the game's messages for us all except the variables. I'll explain later on to my team what they do, but in most cases it's pretty self explanatory.When  the back the scenes work is done, we'll luckily host the game worldwide, quoting the original author and changing the name to leafoe as it goes phonetically with lifo in spanish.Finally, we will constantly update the project. As I told you all, I might not have all the time to moderate and add new features to the game even though I do have the knoledge to do so, and that's the main reason I'm searching for a team.The game is freemium. I'm of the opinion that telling someone they're good even when they aren't leads to more pain down the road. They may feel disappointed and hurt now, but consider what would happen if they go onto a higher level of whatever activity they take part in, only to find out they aren't even in the same league as the others. They built this sense of hope and confidence in something they weren't actually good at, only to find out when they reach a more professional level is going to be more devastating than finding out sooner.Also, if people get awards for fake accomplishments, there's harm in that for  sure. It teaches them it's OK to just be present, you don't need to put any effort into anything. It teaches them not to set goals and not to fight for the things they want in life. It also isn't fair to the performers who do fight and work hard to get where they are. It compresses the field of competitors into a single class, and takes some of the accomplishment out of outstanding performances.

I agree with the mods and admins actually coming together in a conference call rather than an email list. The list can be used to maintain things, but a lot of actual talking needs to be done that can't happen when people take hours, or days to respond.Namely, once a decision has been reached, other mods or admins do not need to be coming in and overriding anything, because that is not OK. The time for discussion is before the vote. Once the vote has been complete, tallied up, and so forth, then the decision whatever was being voted on is now in effect. If anyone wants to bring up terms and so forth, like how long a grace period, etc. again, the time to do that is before the vote. Once the decision has been made, is in absolutely not OK to come in swinging this big stick around and saying, no, we're actually going to do this.If any one member on the staff feels that they can't respect a decision once it's been made, that person should reflect on whether or not they are capable of fulfilling the duties that come along with their position. So talk with one another. Hell, set something up where once a month, you work out a time to have an actual voice conference to talk about issues. At this time though, I think that everyone should get together and actually try to get to know one another for a while before talking about forum business. Maybe that will help in making everyone feel like they are part of a team, rather than a loosely governed group of entities after somewhat of the same goal.Either way, I'm of the opinion that this has to change, because the staff is really not looked at favorably right now, and continues to collectively shove its foot up its own ass. Things that make it even worse are bad PR, and I feel that's a majority of what we see in the moment.P.S. Obviously, there are times in which things do need to be done in the moment, and you work out the logistics after the fact. Large flare ups and so forth demand a more immediate response with more hard hitting measures. However, knowing when that type of response is appropriate is definitely needed. I'll therefore somewhat echo my sentiment from above and say that any staff member who feels that they may not be able to make that kind of judgement might want to take a look at whether they 're really able to be an effective member of staff.

Boy do I ever love goalball. Luckily I'm still on a high school team but that'll change soon and I'm gonna need to find me a new place to play. Currently I play for Kentucky School for the Blind, because it's the only option I have but I someday hope to play on a more realistic team that ain't run by a school. I also hope to compete against good teams, as almost everybody in our conference can't stand up to a hard throw.I also participate in track in field, but rather a lot more of the track part. I love running.

Suffice it to say that I had my reasons, but I apologize for doing so.Second, if you're that up in arms about the unfairness of it all regarding access to media - and hey, I hear ya there - instead of just pirating or trying to encourage others to do the same, why not try and use the power we have to make a difference? It doesn't always work, but it beats just sneaking around in the dark hoping we don't get caught, and then howling when we are inevitably told that we shouldn't be doing what we're doing.In other words, there is more to this than "it's not fair so let's pirate". This goes back to using one's power for good. Everybody's got a little, and if we work together, there's really no saying what could happen eventually.

@156: While I can’t read the error report,here are some general tips.Rename the game folder to something with no spaces. Don’t know if that will help, but it’s worth a try.Make sure you install all of the visual studio, just in vase you’re missing something.Create a short to world client.exe with Locale Emulator, so that that you can always run it with Locale emulator.Hopefully one or all of these tips will help you.

Now anyone can play no matter what kind of network they're using. THe obvious exception to this is a network that blocks outgoing traffic on the port(s) the server is hosted on. Even so, this is certainly better than how it used to be.There should be a keystroke to announce the information about the number of games and connected clients you receive when first connecting to the server. This would be useful to keep track of what was going on without having to disconnect and connect again or constantly check the game list.Some of the messages should be changed to better reflect what's going on. For example, you always receive the message that a particular person has left the main room. However, this isn't all that clear because that person may have joined a game, created a game, or left the server entirely. These messages should better reflect what's actually going on.Speaking of creating games, it should be possible to either password protect and/or hide them from the list entirely. Along with this capability,, there should also be a way to invite specific people to join your game. Oh, private messages wouldn't be a bad idea either.These are things that could be improved in the future. I can't express just how awesome this new system is! I've wanted this for years! Thank you to everyone involved! The 4 month wait was worth it!

Slippery slope territory, that talent show. As a performer myself, I understand the idea of recognizing talent and not just making people feel good. At the other end of it, though, who does it really hurt? I'm not wholly at one end of the spectrum or the other on this. When I go to karaoke and someone gets up there and really, really blows it, I don't boo and I don't go tell them they sucked. I just don't cheer too loudly, I don't make a huge effort to congratulate them. If it is someone I know and they ask how they did, I'll respond truthfully but politely. I think it's important to encourage people even when they're not great at something, but I think it's also important not to just buck them up on false hope and praise. Be realistic, but be kind.

I have been reading these topics and I believe that it's time for me to chime in. First, the quote on quote need for media. You don't. Is it cool to be able to talk with somebody about a new movie that came out? Hell yeah it is. Do you need to? No, you don't. Here's a little insight into me. I have grown up for 15 years of my life and have only watched 10 or so movies. To this day, a period of a couple years, I am a healthy, creative, and perfectly normal individual if you don't take my blindness into account. So, to all of y'all screaming about the necessity of movies, I say bullshit. There is a key difference between a need and an amenity, something that a lot of you seem not to realise. Most of you are classifying an amenity as a need rather than a want. Now, consider this. Let's say I just have had a crappy day, deciding to be an asshole and reporting audiovault to several streaming services. What is going to happen? There is a chance that some service providers won't give two shits about it, but as I report more and more movies as being pirated the risk of them deciding to do something about it rises exponentially. If you disagree, by all means, post on here and I'll gladly do my best to report the content on the site so we will both witness the outcome. Will the providers sue you? Probably not. They will most likely demand you take their content down first. However, there is no guarantee that, should you get another server to host the content on, they will be as generous. Some of you are probably thinking "Well aren't you such an asshole?" Yes, I partially am. I get it. People can't access the content within some countries, but that does not give them the permission to break the law. We are back to movies being an amenity, not a need. Yes, it sucks that some currencies have bad conversion rates, yes, it's terrible that some countries do not have access to the content, but that's the world we live in. It isn't going to change just because a few people bitch, that's frankly what a lot of you are doing here, about it. If you are going to disagree with me about movies being an amenity, consider this: Were movies a thing in 1000s? Were movies a thing when this all began? No, they weren't. Was food a thing? How bout water, shelter, space, the list could go on. If you are currently considering writing a reply that goes along the lines of "So you're saying that pirating books is okay?" Nope, it isn't. While there were tales and stories way before movies, they can be accessed virtually from anywhere, and are certainly easier to legally get a hold of today. You can try and apply the argument of unequal currency and bad transfer rates to books as well, and will partially work today, key being partially. Thing is, there is way more stuff online that you can find in regards to books. Yes, it may not be most recent, but that's where the amenity areas come in. Do you need the most recent novel? No. Now to all of you posting sarcastic remarks about the moderators, Griff included. Your posts do not help in any way. In fact, they probably cause more bad blood between you and the admin team. Do you think the decision was an easy one to make? Have you considered being in an administrator's shoes? Clearly not when it comes to audiogames.net. While I am surprised at the closing of the Audiovault topic rather than it's deletion, my understanding is that the moderator team only deletes topics that have gotten way way out of hand. That topic didn't. Plane and simple. I'm simply tired of the mods receiving negative feedback about every little wrong thing they do. Hang on, let me rephrase that: I am tired of seeing moderators receiving negative treatment just because YOU, note the upper case, think they did something wrong. Were I a Mod, I'd have said "screw this" a long, long time ago. It's enough. Do not try and claim that you would be fine with others treating you like that, because we all know that you wouldn't be. I get that you're pissed about the decision the team made, hell, I won't be surprised if everyone on this forum knows your stance because you made it abundantly clear, but that's why that close button exists. Go outside, relax, howl at the moon about Jayde's unfairness if you want, just take a break. On another note, why is Jayde being given a cold shoulder? You do realise that the decision was agreed upon by the entire moderator team? Is it because Jayde is the new guy? Why are you all not treating Liam, Aaron, Carter, and everyone else with equal dislike and distaste? Hypocritical much? Also, somebody said that you can't watch movies without audio description and get the same experience as a sighted individual. Here's a fun fact: Even with the audio description you would have a different experience. It will bring you closer, but it will never be the same, never. Those 10 movies I mentioned earlier? Yeah, all without audio description. Guess what? They were still enjoyable

Two things.First, I don't think anyone interested in rational discourse is saying that the NFB is the one true way. It is one way, and obviously it does work for some people or else it wouldn't keep going. But the only way? Hardly.Last, I suspect that if your eyewear got grungy, you'd very likely be able to nip into the bathroom and clean it, or that you could swap out your soiled set of sleep shades for a fresh pair. I may be dead wrong on this, but that would be my expectation.

That is true, how ever i didn't hear it and there is also not so much i can do about it, it's how my pc sounds mixed with some cars propably.Btw version 0.11 is in the works, fixing and changing some things. How ever, i will release it when i have adleast 2 enemies so i can get the cv stuff away. This version how ever will also add the hell mode. IN that mode you have basically survival mode, but with falling rocks, pits and all that (not) nice stuff.

I tried it out, and i like it so far.  However, I can here the background sounds of your computer, and some of the voice clips have large gaps of background sound in the beginning and the end.  Is it me or is their just to much echo with your voice.

That, however, circles back to one important question. Why is that the only "right way?" There just isn't enough research which validates the claim that the NFB's training methods are any better or worse than others. Sure, they talk a big game, and say that a large percentage, the number escapes me now, of center graduates are employed, as opposed to blind people who either had no training whatsoever or used methods which weren't related to structured discovery. however, as has been proven time and time again, actual cold, hard facts regarding quality of life, never mind employment, for blind people are thin on the ground. Their claims are dubious at best, and I feel that it's doing people a disservice who are searching for help with these kinds of skills.Also, when you wear a blindfold all day, that thing has to be grungy as hell by the time you take it off. I remember when I played goalball, and we had to wear those blacked-out goggles. They were all sweaty and gross by the end of a game or practice. I honestly can't imagine being forced to keep it on for an even more extended period of time.

@Jade I told you last time over the closing of the BMMV thread that I didn't view any of this as a personal vendetta. And that's still true. If you could look in my head you'd see it, and that I don't think anyone's out to get me. The truth of my behaviour is that I think you're just being  a power tripper again, so I thought I'd point out who it was who helped turn this thread into something that needed moderation. I fully intended for this thread to be totally above board and a proper thread to discuss audio described content legally. I also in a winking way said we could discuss the setting up of an alternate forum as long as we didn't reference any pirated content or sites that host it. I meant it. There was no need for this thread ever to break any rules and require closure, which is what Aaron said would happen. I actually don't give a toss if this thread is closed. If you'd have just let Aaron carry out his reasonable compromise, I wouldn't have said a word. But again, you had to come in within no time and decide you had to dominate the situation . It's like you won't let anyone do a moderate bit of moderation, you had to come in and show everyone how much tougher you are. And finally before I give up on this, you basically accused me of being delusional over the idea of this thread being closed as part of the moderation, and yet there it is in black and white, exactly what Aaron said. Then you said you didn't reword Aaron's statement to anyone's disadvantage. It was to my disadvantage because you used it to show how I had a victim mentality and thought everything revolved around me.

Liam, I hope that by "discuss", you intend for there to be an actual conversation between the moderators, because I think we as users can all agree that the email list you appear to use as the sole method of communication is simply not working due to the different moderation styles of Aaron, Jayde and yourself. I think that an actual conversation will help to make it very clear what each person's stance is on several matters relating to the forum. A conference call would also allow for some actual discussion, not the I-posted-it-on-the-list-but-no-one-replied rubbish we keep seeing, which just leads to confusion and discontent among the users of this forum.Just as you as moderators and administrators have expectations of us users, I think that it is only fair that we have expectations of you. As one example, I think that it is inappropriate and unprofessional for moderators and administrators to be publicly disagreeing with each other on matters relating to content allowed on the forum; these disagreements should be sorted out before any such posts appear on the forum. You want this forum to be respected, but you cannot honestly expect this to be the case when you are not united in your stance. Another expectation that us users have is that you find out what has happened to the webmasters. Do you even know if they're alive? And if they're not in a position to continue looking after this forum, do you have an idea as to who will take up this responsibility?This might be controversial, but I'm calling for Dark to be re-appointed to the email list (since this is the only communication method you have) to serve in an advisory capacity. I think that, due to his former widespread support and the lack of general discontent among users when he had this duty on the forum, he should be able to offer his opinions on matters of moderation, but he should not be allowed to make any decisions on his own; essentially, if you think that his expertise would be valuable in a controversial situation, you would ask him for his stance and how he would handle it. I think that this would be useful to help draw a line between Jayde and Aaron, who have almost opposite moderation styles.

Frastlin,This game was envisioned as more of a pure strategy game.  We're working on some more story based games in future, but Expanding Known Space was an early project we returned to.  It also is laying groundwork for where we want to go with a possible Interceptor sequel.  In terms of story ideas for possible use, I'm all ears.  We focused at first on the lower hanging fruit to start with.  As you can see, this game is more ambitious than either TKS or Interceptor.  The TKS expansion we're working on incorporated a number of the ideas people here and elsewhere suggested.  Trying to combine it with EKS might be a little daunting, but I think when we release the TKS expansion it'll have a little more to do both in terms of commercial opportunities and in terms of combat.  The main problem with combining the two games, as I see it, is both a historical time period one, and a mechanical issue.  The two games take place 300 years apart.  Further, it'd take a lot more infrastructure to handle the buying of goods on planets, the tracking of commercial opportunities, and the military aspects of the game.  I agree, though, that would make for an intensely complex game with a lot of potential for interesting play options.Keep the ideas coming.  Take care,Jeremy

no no I'm not talking about the speed of the audio file it self, I'm talking about the speed of the action, I want it to wait until the first audio file finishes witch is the step and then I want it to play it again, because if it doesn't wait it'll keep going and that will cause a bunch of files to play at the same time, that leads me in to an other problem, audio files interrupt each other, how do I fix that? Hi.I engage in horse riding, mostly dressage and cariage driving. When you are blind this is sorta hard to get into in germany if you don't want to rely on blindy organisations, as I do because they are farely limited in the stuff they teach you and they deam basic things about horses to be dangerous for blind people, even though they are totally not.For some time now I wanted to do some Aikido as well, problem is that there are no martial arts schools teaching that over here. We have Judo, but every blindy seams to be doing Judo, all but some examples, and i want to do something different for a change.Greetings Moritz.

I used to do item duplications all the time as a kid. It's scary because you wrisk corrupting your data, and one of my games glitched so bad that it made me start a new game at one of the houses along the way to indigo plateau which is on rouge 26.

Glitching, but no limited to, clonning Pokémon or items through changing box in Bill's PC and turning offf the console. I'm talking about the complex ones to even get more of 6 Pokémon in your party and things like that. (I saw that of the party in a TAS video!) hahahahah. But they're very technical.

about tactical battle and maps

Hi. After hearing some of Jim C Hines goblin quest books, I fancied something with old school dungeon crawling, so remembered a couple of the tactical battle maps. I was playing dungeon by alan  Tompson, the one where you just control one character and can play a dwarf, high elf, paladin, wizard, rogue  or warrior since I wanted to simply things as far as units control goes and explore. The game is fun but the secret doors thing seems really weird, since whenever I search a few times a secret door pops up and then I need to search again to get rid of it, which is quite time consuming. Has anyone played this map and got an idea how things work? I'm using the version from the audiogames archive.

TouchId should be working about 97% of the time. If it's not, I can think of a couple things. First thing first, it will always fail if you try to use it with damp fingers, so be wary of that. Now, I can think of two things that might be affecting it. First would be that you might have kind of rushed the fingerprint enrollment process and screwed it up a bit. You could try to enroll another finger and take your time and follow the instructions, noting when it says lift and change your grip etc. That way, it gets a full fingerprint when it might only have a partial now. The second thing is whatever case/screen protector you are using. I use an Otterbox that has a plastic thing over the home button, and I did notice that it sort of saps a bit of accuracy. The plastic bubble would start to peel up from the screen protector, and I'd keep pressing it down, but then it would peel more, so finally I just peeled it all the way off and threw it away. I did notice a definite improvement after that.

I have done no such thing. I reworded it, but not to anyone's advantage or disadvantage.The only difference between Aaron's proposal and mine is that mine could be done right now, or very soon, while Aaron's gives a few weeks more time to cobble something together. I personally feel Aaron's stance is way, way too soft, given what we're talking about, and given the grace period already provided, and given the fact that we've got an alternative forum available, and said forum seems to be getting its metaphoric feet under it.Aaron posed his idea right here for all the world to see. So did I. If he's in the wrong, then so am I; if he's -not in the wrong, then neither am I. As he said himself, this was not specifically put to list first.The issue I have with you, Flackers, is that you're supposing that you know my reason for wanting to accelerate things. If you think it's because it's your topic, and that I'd be gentler on someone else, you're dead wrong. If you think it's because I like being contrary, you're wrong. If you think I feel I've got a score to settle with you, you're also wrong. Frankly, I'm just getting tired of people thinking they know what I'm thinking, and, far worse, ignoring what I say when I tell them my intentions. At that point, what you're doing is tantamount to declaring that I am lying. I have done many things here, but I do not lie. If I tell you that my intentions are such-and-such, you can be awfully sure that's exactly what my intentions were. So when I tell you I want to speed up Aaron's plan only because we've already got a workable solution, because we no longer have a good reason to extend our grace period, why not take me at my word, step out of the center of the universe and regain some perspective? Aprone voiced his openion about Jaid and they were very constructive and he presented it in a calm and unagrivated mannor. I think this is a great idea. In all political areanas the parlementary proceedings are publisised so the public can debate and foster their thoughts and openions about each individuals because we know their deliberation styles and we can know whether or not Jaid is the dictator we the AG.net forum makes him out to be or if he is just a chill guy acting on behalf of his team. In My openion, Aprone did nothing wrong. He just voiced his honest openion to the point where Liam wanted to know what he thought of him.
