Yeah, I've definitely addressed all those questions before, but to sum it up:1. I'm intending that the game be for PC primarily. I'm not at a point where I'd want to release it to mobile, as that's a whole other environment.2. I'm intending to sell it, which means that yes, I'd be willing to compensate a coder for their time, but I don't have hard and fast rules on how that would get done. We'd have to talk shop if someone was interested.3. Turn-based JRPG is what we're after here. Movement similar to A Hero's Call.4. As far as complexity, a few points. Entities need to be able to modify their AI based on conditions (i.e., if you use a fire spell on a monster, it can respond with an ice spell, and other such things). Multi-person party that can be changed on the fly (again, think A Hero's Call). Zoning on maps (for instance, a road is safe but the surrounding map has random encounters on it). Rudimentary day-night system, and NPCs (including enemies) which react a little differently depending on whether it's day or night. Skills and spells learned via level-up, some of which have their own interactions (i.e., rage for barbarians, shadows for illusionists, learning certain enemy spells for scholars, etc.).

at post 17 not really, i can't pay outside of algeria, or, at least not yet for me, however i do have legal access to the pro sound effects intire online collection, any sound design i do is free and from my own time and hie quality as welli do agree that the audio industry is expensive indeed, but form wher i come, you can get greate beter sounding results if you're creative enough and with the right use of the tools at yur hands, simply because your daw contains most 80% of the work that other plugins mite do for you, i realisd this when i began using basicly a huge selection of free plugins that does difrent stuf here and their, but i can't quite say that they're not useful either, like reverb plugins or other effects for that matter

lol Frankly, I don't even want to worry about sound yet, since I don't have coding lined up. That'd be a lot llike kitting out a car with all the bells and whistles (leather interior, a great stereo with a sub-woofer, sunroof or a pop-top, nice paint job, custom body) without sticking an engine in it. And a car with no engine is basically just decoration. I need an engine before anything will run.

If you use the minor symbol cards, you can fill up your hand with cards of a given type pretty quickly, so you'll eventually get guaranteed level-ups in a specific type every action you take, no matter what you do.

Hello,the leveling was changed several times, so it is not really explained anywhere currently, but here is the basic idea:Each card has a specified level which is announced when you read it's description with the E key. For example, if a card is fire 4, it means you need level 4 to use it in the fire type. But how do you gain levels?Essentially, at the beginning of your turn, if you have at least 4 cards of a certain type, you gain a level in that type. At any time, if you have a card of a type you can't use, you can discard it. This will give you plus 2 level in the type of that card.Each type also has a card to increase it's level by 3, which can be played as long as you are this particular type. Such cards are normalisation for normal, salutation for fighting, shady mind for dark and so on.Thus, probably you have discarded a card and gained a level, or had 4 cards but not so in the other battle.If you have any other questions feel free to reply and I can try to clear it up.

Sound Design, and royalty-free sounds in particular, is a very expensive hobby. I started investing money into that business back in 2016 and have invested way over $1 since then. But then again, you can come up with something really great by just using the free stuff from freesound.org as long as you are creative enough, know your tools and have some decent effects to work with, which might end up costing some money too, but by far not as much as the sounds do.

yeah He said he had 34gb of sounds. THat really is a drip in the water if you look at something like  the total of the Sonnis.com audio bundles, each of which is about 10-12 gb. They've been releasing a yearly bundle since 2015 meaning that he could easily have 55gb of sounds just from those.

@Trajectory: From the looks of it, this iteration is in BGT, i.e. the prototype, as proof of concept. Paul did say he had definite plans to move this over to a new, more modern language, though from the looks of it this first generation is what's going to be released first, and then the next gen will be in a new programming language. Scripting is a definite possibility then through Lua.

Sadly, Sable is a dead end. Since it's built in BGT they can't implement scripting, which means you won't be able to customize your gameplay.Sable could potentially flourish if they were willing to open source it, because then people could develop games with their own custom modifications to the Sable engine. Otherwise, it's just a rehash of the Audio Game Maker debacle, for those of us who were around back in 2006.

Bingo. I won't even consider sounds or music that isn't legal. I mean, I'm sure if I dug around enough, I could take some Final Fantasy/Chrono Trigger sounds and music and probably end up with a pretty believable soundscape for the game, with a little extra splashed in. But I am absolutely -not gonna do that. This needs to either be wholly original, or, more likely, it needs to be legally obtained and modified.The true hurdle at least so far is code. I understand code logic, sorta kinda, so I generally know what is and isn't possible. But I can't actually do programming. At all. Completely useless in that sense.

If you check out the Sable thread, I already asked a question there to see if the sort of things I wanted could be handled. It was demonstrated that the sort of complexity I'm after is well beyond Sable, at least thus far.That doesn't mean Sable is terrible. I'm not against it. It just won't work for what I want to do with this game.And when I say most of my heavy lifting is done, what I mean is, I have design docs for stats and gear and whatever else. Literally all I'd have to do is write out a script, create the proper entities once all the underpinnings were built, then get into the sound side. I have exactly zero experience with sound on my own end, but I am a musician, so I have an idea of what I'm after. Whether that means digging up tracks off the internet and paying licensing fees, or creating a custom sound track, I don't know and frankly I'm not that far along.

Short answer: I'd still like to make it.I had a coder lined up back in 2017, but that ultimately didn't work out.I had interest from a coder in 2020 as well, someone who was going to look at using their engine to try and build it. They asked me to provide a basic prototype, something simple to sort of test everything I was looking for. I did that. Haven't heard too much since.So I'd still love to, but I'm getting the sense that if I can't find a dedicated coder and at least one sound-design person, it may never actually come to fruition. Most of my heavy lifting is done already, mind you.

Hi.I am trying to play brogue speak again and beat this game, but I am missing some informations.How I can check what is around me on each direction.For now I am using x key which auto explores a map.How I can check my health or how strong I am.I know that strenght can be improved by equipment or maybe potions.How I can rest.I see that I can enchant somethink like weapons, but I dont understand what it gives to the equipment.I dont understand how potions works.I see thatthere is for example a green potion f and green potion e, siren potion i or siren potion e etc.I see that we dont know, what these potions are doing.Some gives me a strenght or life but some has a poison gas, and I am dying when I am filling this.I dont understand how potions are working, is it ramdom, or maybe I have to learn how some potions are working.

Racially-motivated violent crimes have dropped steadily since the beginning of 2010-s, and the common traveler is unlikely to face any major problems.In addition, sometimes, especially in smaller cities, people of a different skin color can attract the attention of random pedestrians. They may stare at you more often or try to talk to you, so keep this in mind.

I'm not from Russia, but I've met a few Russians and had the chance to hang out with them for quite some time, and they are really friendly and welcoming. Of course, everyone is different, which means that not every Russian you meet will be friendly and caring and welcoming; however, in my case I can say that I felt really well in their presence.

I have a Acer spin and I can use it like a tabblet only the NVDA gestures just aren't there. There's no gesture to get to the desktop or to navagate really. I could put more time into learning it but it's not just that well made.

well, I guess I'm the odd one at that, since I mostly use the phone for most not programming related activities, including online schooling, emails, youtube stuff, entertainment that's not audiogames, etc. Maybe because you are reading this message, you're thinking I'm using an iPhone since it allowes more productivity and such. @1 I played the demo of the game and it's very good. It's an horror based audiogame that you're in a cave and need to get an artifact from it and escape it.I don't speak spanish very well, I speak Portuguese that's a bit closer language to it, but the developers said in a stream that they plan to release an English version of the game at some point, but I don't have much information to share about it. The devs are very friendly if you want to send messages to them.

so basicly its just not as fast. i know of a gaming tablet that has a keyboard and a controller built in somehow. the gpd win max. and all tablet mode does is have you use the tiled start menu and maximise all apps

If you absolutely, absolutely had to use a Windows tablet, Narrator would be my screen reader of choice; seems to handle things slightly better. Also, Tablet Mode doesn't actually dynamically change content, probably just some OS settings, certainly nothing over the web  and most likely not in 3rd-part programs.

nothing will beat a keyboard for getting stuff done in the fastest way. Think about this, Why do I use my computer a lot to do even the basic stuff when I could get it done on my phone? I only use my phone for a few things when it comes to the net. I have to check my banking stuff on their as it is easier to access it their. I also use it for emails and a few other services.

An NVDA Question

Hello everyone.So I have been using NVDA for quite a while now, but there is one thing that I have always wondered about, and that is: is it posible to use a mouse or trackpad successfully with NVDA? I know there are options for it in the NVDA settings, and I have tried to take some time to explore them, but I have never been able to decide whether or not it is really usable. So what have y'all determined when it comes to this topic? And if you have any suggestions to make it usable, I would love to hear them. Thanks guys.

attempt looking at the example config file, or you can attempt to find defenders server file with a much better written help guide for setting up and moderating the server through the command line and the game.

The ds and ds light have a very similar layout, I think the brightness thing is the only difference. I never owned a dsi though, so I don't know what the layout for that is.

Aah, download play. Me and my friends used to play a lot of games on our dsi's. After getting a 3ds in october of 2011 I was the cool kid for a while. Have never owned neither of the original ds's. I have 6 dsi's though.One of them fell 30 feet to the ground and it still works.

Ds games save right to the cartridge so you dont have to worry about buying a memory card or managing save data. All of the games I own have some kind of save feature and I have over a dozen.Forgot to mention that download play and multi-player is pretty doable also as I used to utilize it a lot without help for transferring  pokemon between games.

It's as easy as plug and play, mostly, and the ui doesn't wrap. If you have both the ds and gba slots occupied, the ds game is the topmost option, and the gba game is second to the last option going down. On the bottom left is brightness control which you can either touch or activate with the arrows and button. The menu is laid out like an upside down t, with a column of menu items going down, and a row of menu items at the bottom. Ds and gba startup icons will not be available unless you have cartridges plugged into those slots. The ds light has 4 different brightness settings as opposed to the original ds's 3. Besides brightness, there are a few other things you can configure, like the date, time, your birthday and you even get a special startup animation on your birthday. You can also set up an alarm Clock to wake you up, set up wifi and access a chat room to communicate with other ds users near you. Most of this isn't doable without a way to read the screen of course, but for just playing games you'll be absolutely fine.

helloI found a nintendo ds lite for something around 30 dollars, and as far as i know this thing is in good condition and thinking about getting it, but this console is japan region and sighted will not be able to help me to understand the ui. Can someone explain what this console can do and how? How to launch ds and gba games? And maybe other useful info what you want to share.

I just recently purchased the Razer Blackshark v2 for like $100, and it's quite good for that price. They sound much better than Airpods, although that is because they aren't in-ear headphones.

@32 they are in ear headphones witch you said you don't like much. I have a set of Jabra elete 25. I was able to get them along with an SD card, JBL charge 4, and a nice cable for my headphones for free from traiding in a few Apple devices.
