Re: A Public Apology

When I posted on the Discord server a couple of weeks back to try to get stuff rolling again, this is why I did not do so in a confrontational tone. We're in very strange times, and it seems I was right on the money, I did not want to hound Jayde or for that matter, anyone. I will admit, the long silence did frustrate me and we still have a few things we're working on. I have been more active, checking the Discord when I can and not just relying on push notifications. But if I knew, for instance, that Jayde wasn't coming back for a while, I would have tried to get, for instance, the assets thing sorted and then catch Jayde up later.

Re: A Public Apology

Jayde, as someone who has done the whole mod thing myself, I'd like to congratulate you on taking care of yourself first and foremost, as you can do nothing else before doing that.  It's been said before but I do believe that it bares repeating, that you cannot help others fix their backyards without first looking at your own.Next, what you did is entirely within reason and character and goes along the lines of what Dark and others have done.  In his case I can think of at least one time where he was absent for quite some time and people began to ask about him... I seem to recall it being shortly after I was placed on the mod team along with at least one other person, though I could be wrong on that count.  In truth, we neither resented him for it nor did we try to hunt him down, believing his break was much needed given all the work he'd done for the forum and the database.  In many respects, I feel like this is more or less the same.  Whether you've meant to or not you've sort of been the front guy on this for awhile now.  I'm not sure if the others are naturally defering to you because you exhibit exceptional leadership skills or if they feel your age and your apparent amount of experience as demonstrated by the way you write go hand in hand and they look up to you for it.  Whatever the case, in many respects you've sort of been given the wheel and that's always a tough place to be.  That you took a much needed leave of absence is not something I can fault you for and, as best I can tell, there's noone else here who does.  Keep on keepin on and hopefully things will go better in the not too distant future.  Here's consistently wishing you all the best, and while I feel there probably isn't much I can personally do for you, you do know where to find me if the need should arise and you can think of any one favor.

Re: A Public Apology

Hi Jayde,Sorry to hear you’ve not been doing so well over the last month. Pleased to hear you seem to be doing a little better now. As for feeling insignificant, you’re probably one of the most well known people in the audio games  circuit, that has to count for something as far as audio games go, I’m sure you have a lot going on for you outside of audio games in the real world too. I have a ton of respect for you as a person and your opinions, also for how you handle yourself and issues which crop up here.Often when shit goes south, its yourself at the forefront trying to smooth things over and sort things out, so I hugely appreciate and respect the time and effort you put in here. Like others have said though, make sure you put your own health first, that’s way more important than anything going on here. We all have our own issues from time to time, and everyone needs some down time, so don’t feel bad for not being around for a while. As for the social element, if you ever feel down and need someone to reach out and chat to you can always look me up on skipe, I’m always there to help out a fellow gamer, even if its to just chat audio games, games in general or nothing to do with games at all, I’m always here, I’m paul.lemm0 on skipe if you ever want anythingPaul lemm

I recall once saying, more or less jokingly, that you should try leaving for a while to see how well the  rest of the staff team fares on their own. To be honest, I'm kind of glad that you (unintentionally) participated in that experiment in the end. Hopefully, everyone learned something from it. As for your apology, I agree with all the great posts above. It's OK. You're only human, as are we all. A notice would have been good, sure, but given your state at the time I can see why you wouldn't send it; perhaps from denial, convincing yourself that it's just a small thing and you'll be fine tomorrow, or perhaps because of a simple lack of spoons (mental energy).I hope the pills help and you'll be back on your feet soon, at least physically. And then, hopefully, mentally as well. We're not the best community to socialize with -- heck, we're a terrible one! -- but we're here if you need us, and there's a few Discord servers out there for voice chat. It's not the same and not enough, not in the slightest, but we'll do what we can if you want us to.And Jayde? Don't forget to be awesome. <3

Re: A Public Apology

Two things:First, thank you for the kind words. If I were a forum user with no real responsibility, then no, I don't really have to apologize to anyone for going dark for a month. But I voluntarily took a position of responsibility, then didn't deliver on it for awhile. That's not okay. And while I didn't just do it because I wanted to screw people over or whatnot, that doesn't matter. I still did it. It's poor conduct, and I don't intend to keep it up.As far as Aprone's claim, we have read it, processed it and are looking into it. With enough of the team otherwise occupied, we definitely haven't given this situation the attention it merits with the speed required. Again, we're going to do better.

A Public Apology

2021-02-12 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : Jayde via Audiogames-reflector

A Public Apology

Hi, folks,The more observant among you might have realized that it's been nearly a month since my last post here on the forum. I'm here to explain some of that, and to offer an apology to every one of you that I may have let down in so doing.I'm not going to go into a ton of personal detail here, but I'll sketch the outlines of what has been happening in my life in such a way as to hopefully help you understand why this topic even has to exist.First, I've been feeling off and on unwell for quite awhile now. I have had intermittent stomach problems for my entire life, and over the last couple of months, they seem to have changed a little. I'm investigating it, and there doesn't seem to be anything horribly wrong with me, but it's still been tough to deal with. The smell of food has been making me nauseous enough that there were two and three-day periods where I was eating meals one bite at a time, over a period of hours, if at all. I've been tired and listless (more on this later), and while I haven't experienced any real pain, I've been quite uncomfortable a good deal of the time. I am changing my diet and now taking some pills which seem to be helping, so let's hope I've experienced the worst of my physical ailments.Second, I've also been mentally unwell. I'm not suicidal and I'm not self-harming (unless you count the weird eating/food stuff as a form of self-harm, that is), but I have felt extremely small, insignificant and alone for quite awhile now, and those feelings sort of bubbled over during the last month and a half or so. I live alone and am not getting enough human contact, and that's making things worse. I know full well that some people have it way worse than I do, but for me, it's been plenty bad enough. At last check, I do not have clinical depression, but this period is probably the second or third lowest of my life. And it just so happened to coincide with physical symptoms. In fact, knowing what I do about concurrent disorders, they probably fed off each other a bit. If any of you know how this feels, you have my profoundest sympathies.I was not active here on the forum, nor on the discord server. I wasn't really checking in with anyone, except to occasionally muck about on Facebook or YouTube, and even that was spotty. I read a lot, slept a lot, lay in bed a lot, and ultimately did not perform my duties as an admin of this forum. For that, I humbly apologize. I should have informed the staff team, at least, far sooner than I did. I have since done so, and the general consensus seems to be that while they would definitely have appreciated better notice, they understand the way that life can sometimes kick a person in the teeth. I'm here today telling you this because I know that I bear responsibility for my inactions. I vow to be better about this in future.I hope that for most of you, this candid explanation is enough to explain and perhaps even excuse my absence. For the rest, I'd like to point out that this is really the first time I've done such a thing, so my silence is not an indicator of pattern behaviour. You can reasonably expect not to have to deal with this from me going forward. If in future I feel that I can no longer fulfill my role on the team, I will resign from my position. Failing that, if I am overwhelmed and needing a break, I promise to inform the team first rather than after the worst is over. I would generally rather give notice than ask forgiveness, after all.The staff team at large appears to have been going through a period of lower activity lately. I cannot and will not speak for other members of the team as to why this is the case, but I want to reassure you, as a current administrator, that yes, we're still here, and yes, we do care about you. We intend to do what we said we would, and are working hard to get back on track.Once again, I apologize for these complications, and vow to do my part to make right by those of you I have upset or disappointed by my inaction.

Racism and such isn't cool. Let's get that right up front. My concern there is that racism and anger issues aren't the same thing. That being said, we all make mistakes, so I'm not here with a torch. Frankly I'm just going to wait and see how things go. I hope to see no more racist outbursts, as I look very unkindly on such things. You don't have to prove yourself to me. That has always seemed kind of high and mighty to me, when folks say that. If you'd hurt me personally and wanted my trust back, then I'm probably going to tell you that it takes time and that I'll have to see meaningful results. But you didn't. You just sort of went boom one day because you'd had enough, said some racist stuff and got banned. If that's the last time we see you do that, I'll be happy. 'Nuff said, really.

Re: A sincere apology

Alright, so i don't know what even really happened to cause this thread to be a thing in the first place, so I cannot speak to forgiveness or non-forgiveness on my end directly, since I have no ties with the one who created the thread apologizing. What I will say is to the couple of people telling this person to ignore the forum and not apologize, that is just ridiculous. That is basically saying that there is no need for apologizing after you backhand somebody in the face. And I know I know, the reason given was because then it opens the apologizer up to attacks from bitter morons who want something to swing at. Well that says more about the other people on the forum then it does about the one opening up that opportunity. Purely just sad. if he wants to apologize, dear jesus let it happen people and don't advise him not to. That is ridiculous. And if he makes the same mistakes after being attacked by the bitter brainless fools, then so be it. it is what it is. He will get banned again and we can all go along with our day. Honestly people, put some logic into all of this. And yeah, from the sounds of it, he really does need to prove himself to get back into the good graces of the people, and that is fine.@mechaSkyGardian: good luck to you, and I hope that you are able to show that you have changed. And to all the bitter geniuses wanting to get their shot in, just be warned that it never ends well, so you would be smart enough to leave well enough alone. That is where I will stop this post. i just wanted to give my thoughts on the matter. Good wishes to all.

Will the actions backup the words? I don't know, but I am for giving this person a shot. there has been a lot of harshness going around this year, and yes I have had my part in it unfortunately. There has been a lot of anger this year due to everything that's been going on, so what mechaSkyGuardian wishes to do, I feel, is more than welcomed.

I agree with Exodus and Lucas equally here, both make great points.  A. Don't open your self up to this by creating a thread even if your intentions are good (if you want to apologize to the mods do it privately) and B. Don't let the mob drag you into a conversation, because they just want a punching bag to express their own problems on and your a perfect target.Good luck to you and we'll see how things turn out.

Re: A sincere apology

Okay here's the thing. I think topics like this are primarily created for validation purposes. Either they are created with the hope that people will forgive you, or with the hope that people will say "wow LOL I don't even know what you did in the first place" which is basically forgiveness anyways. If you just conduct yourself like a normal forum member without making topics like these, people will forget about what you did pretty soon unless you keep doing it over and over and over. I think the same about the "Oh no people were mean to me so I'm leaving" influx of topics unless you have a good reason. Those are primarily (only?) for validation as well.

Re: A sincere apology

Never apologize in 2020 op, you're just basically laying down in front of the mob that you pissed off and are allowing them to further kick the shit out of you. Having voluntarily placed yourself in such a place of weakness only to have everyone start attacking you again will lead to you feeling increasingly more defensive as the attacks pile up and you'll end up lashing out in the end. This will complete the cycle and will only make the people who piled in on you feel vindicated in the end. My advice to you is as follows:1. Forget this thread ever existed, do not further engage with said thread, do not pass go and do not collect $200.2: Given that you've taken your punishment for what you've done and have come back, just conduct yourself like the chill forum member you are/want to be because something something actions something words something something..3. You'll never be able to prove yourself to some forum members, who will always think that you're a little assshole that needs reminding of this fact on a regular basis. Do not engage with them and do not further debase yourself attempting to prove something to them that you'll never be able to. Doing so will dump you back in that getting defensive lashing out cycle I mentioned earlier.

That's why you went off in German in your post and crossed so many lines and brought Nazis into it, because of your anger issues then you come back to work things out?I'm not buying it. You're right back in a place that you have anger issues with, right back here after your ban. Now, I dont know if you got any help for your anger issues while you were banned, and it's not really my place to say but hey ho, the blind community can't keep their mouths shut so doubtless somebody will tell me anyway...but even if you got help, my point is you are right back here, with the same people, in the same group, that you got so, so angry at and lashed out at.Oh and FWIW I think blaming anger issues is flimsy at best, you had issues, as I recall, with the mods and the rules and so on and so forth, so is saying oh I had angr issues just covering your butt or something instead of going into detail?

Re: I owe you an apology

I'm with Djleks on this one. Minus the yawn.Apologies are a great start, so it's nice that you made this one. But what I hope for is that you stick to this. It can be difficult, especially if it involves changing behaviour. God knows I've fucked up enough in life to know. You do get points for pretty much being unequivocal about it though. It wasn't "I'm sorry but", or "I'm sorry if". It was pretty much just "I'm sorry", which is the best sort, in most cases. So while I'm not wholly convinced, I have hope. And the only thing that will convince is time and exposure, which you've got plenty of time for. You've never really upset me personally in any way that'll stick, either, for whatever that's worth to you.

Re: I owe you an apology

Thumbs up from me there too Jaiden. AS Brendan said, apologising when you've messsed up does take some serious insert courage based synonym of choice, (guts, stones, lobes, whatever). In fairness, most of the drama you do seem to have been embroiled in from what I gather was more a matter of short temper and snap responces, than literal vindictive meanness or a desire to cause trouble for it's own sake, and several long time members have done much more dodgy things before settling down. The hard part now, is going to be remembering this apology in future, so that you make sure not to get into situations where you might have to make it again, though I honestly believe you actually will remember, since you've always seemed like a decent  fellow to me.

If you're going to replace your drive, it makes a lot of sense to go for an SSD because it will greatly decrease read/write times. As to your appology I don't really follow this forum a lot, but it's great that you realize your mistakes. Re: I owe you an apology

You know, it takes a real man, or woman, to first realize that they are wrong, and then apologize for their actions. To often I have met people who realize that they are wrong, and they just don't care that they are wrong, or I have met people who have realized that they are wrong, but rather than  apologize they still try to justify their actions. In my book there is only right and wrong, no inbetween, no grey areas, just right and wrong. So I thank you @Jaidon Of the Caribbean, for being man enough to admit you were wrong and apologizing for it. We need more people like than in this word.

I owe you an apology

Hello everyoneToday I was reading through my old posts, and boy were they nasty. I feel like a schmuckazoid for going off on so many people, and for little reason back then. I'm still not perfect, I still have my jerky posts, but I feel like my older posts were out of line. Way out of line, and I really, and genuinely think I owe many of you an apology. It may not matter to y'all, but still, I sincerely want to tell all of you who I went off on sorry. Truly I am.I also want to apologize for being all talk, and no action. I always blabber on about what I wanted to do, and yadadadadadadadadah. I promise, I'm going to do something fun and different for you guys, the minute i get my hard drive replaced its serious business.I lastly wanna say sorry to Adel and Eben. I haven't been doing much for BEV, but that will also change.Last year was not a good year for me at all. I feel like it was the worst one for me up till now. Last year is worse than quarantine, and i really wasn't in the best position. And I know, I brought that baggage into this year as well, but I'm tossing that baggage in the bloody mud volcano. I'm sorry as well for the drama I've been in, and I'm cutting that out as well. Well guys, that was my apology on this Eid And I'm keeping all the promises I made. Cheers to the future, I guess. Monono, I know, it's to the future.Laters

Re: An apology

I don't know much about mason, but I have no room to judge his level of maturity, emotional stability, or ability to learn. Mid 20s can still have those same effects, it is a definite thing for teens, but could still be common for 20s. When you are in your 20s you are figuring out how to navigate this world, so the stress is not easy, and that may induce the recently dismissed teenage behaviors. Can't prove that, but it is a possibility. And for blind people navigating in this world is even harder, so the stress is a lot higher. I didn't mean to get off topic, just wanted to note that those behaviors may still be occuring due to stress and without knwoing how to handle it, he falls back on teenage like thinking because that's what he has known for longer. Again can't prove it, but it is a possibility.

Re: An apology

In post 1 you see that you are a mess of problems. How do I know? Because I am a mess of problems too. Every teen is a mess of problems. Just to list a few problems several teens have: impulsive, selfish, power hungry, emotionally unstable, and don't listen. Obviously not every teen has all of these problems, but these are very common ones. We try to fix our mistakes, but our age knocks us back down over and over. You can do small things to improve such as reading articles of how to improve, and taking walks to cool off, but as far as modifying behavior, no matter the desire to change, our age will resist a lot of the skills we are trying to improve or develop. You will still make progress, but your age will heavily resist it. That  is just apart of being a teen. I'm not saying you shouldn't try to modify your behavior at all, I encourage you to modify it. But know that until mid 20s, maybe a little earlier or later, your age does resist a lot, so be patient. Reading about improving behavior and taking walks is more than 90% of teens do, which already makes you more ahead of improving yourself. So next time you are frustrated because you do not think you are improving fast enough, just remember about being patient with your age, and doing those 2 things is already putting you ahead. This is what I do.Another thing you should do is get out of your room often. I don't mean go out with friends, I don't mean find a job, just get out of your room. That's the place where these self destructive thoughts live and grow. Have a conversation with someone in your room and outside your room and notice the difference. You will be much more open to changing and new ideas when you are outside your room.I will attach my folder of articles in a db link below, so you can use them yourself. They are extremely powerful and have helped me several times with keeping my desire to improve.https://www.dropbox.com/s/m7cp8hztf1ajs … s.zip?dl=1

@24Because people like you will just spawn a dozen unoriginal spinoffs using it, get in dick measuring contests with others doing the same thing, then abandon them when you get board anyway having not improved them much at all.Better to try and give it to someone with the skill and drive to do at least something valuable with it... Rather than tossing it to the wolves. Maybe if we didn't have such a problem with clones, but we do, so...And I get that you want free stuff because of paypal restrictions, but if you were less of a pest, people would be more likely to buy it for you anyway.@1I'm with those saying I'll wait for change, but I wish you good luck tackling this man, and I feel for you. I always try to be constructive when I criticize you, but many of these recent topics were full of people just being downright nasty, and frankly, neither you nor anyone else doing what you did deserves that kind of treatment, let alone around free and donationware computer games on the internet. So please don't think that most of us at ag.net agreed with the things they said, no matter how upset we might have gotten with you.

@31 he can't understand that, because all he can do is make clones with copied codes and sounds.

Re: An apology

Please get a clue before you speak on such matters, as it is evident you have none. Most of his games are not paid, but some of them do offer paid services. This means that you can play them for free, but if you wish, you can pay, and help sponsor the server. Tomb Hunter is a paid game, and the crime one is free but with a paid additional mode, so you still get to play all the levels, but consider it as DLC to pay for endless. You yourself were asking about free VPS a while back, so clearly, you do understand the VPS' take money to keep up, and why should someone constantly pay out of their own ppocket for it? Also, since the cost of a VpS is recurring, so should the donations or payments to keep the server running. Maybe there was an initial hike of income when TH came out, but also, there's more to think about than just sustainability. What about reinvesting some of that money to try to buy better stuff to help make better games, like a better computer, or a larger server. And then, what about profit, because he worked to make those games, he deserves to make money off it that just goes into his own pocket. So please stop looking at things so one-dimensionally.

Re: An apology

@Mahdi that's a rather inappropriate thing to be saying, I don't think he's acted in such a way that he thinks it's all about money. Just because someone doesn't choose to open source their work, doesn't mean its all about money, further, it's none of your business.

Re: An apology

Greetings Masonian.I do believe that you are very sincere and even contrite; you've proven this in post 1 hence the reason why I contribute to this topic. Forgiveness ought not only be given 7, 77 or even 777 times but infinitely. I cannot comment on you being a programmer/coder or even a moderator so I'll have to give you the same advice that I'd give anyone else who has a troubled mind/heart/soul.It is indeed very difficult to not retaliate in the face of adversity, I’ve retaliated in a tit for tat manor more times than I can count. I can also relate to hating myself and wanting to just lash out at people because they annoy/anger me. I can also relate to caring about people and all I get is darkness thrown back at me. I do indeed know what to do about it but the solution I offer is not a quick fix and it’s no free lunch I’m afraid. Even if you visit the feeling easy seminar, people are still going to attack you. Even if you read the following letter and poem, even if you apply the principals written therein, you’re still going to be tempted to attack those who attack you. The warrior spirit will tempt you to keep on fighting for what you believe is your right and even though you have the right to be left alone and not be impugned, fighting for it in a punitive manor is not the way to go about securing your future and living a life of peace and prosperity. The truth shall set you free and the path of peace and absolute pacifism is indeed the only path that can guarantee clarity of mind, as well as aiding you in your return to sanity. Before you jump to the wrong conclusion, no I’m not saying that you’re insane, the return to sanity means the return from you being controlled by the darkness within you. It is the darkness within you that can and does lead to insanity; believe me, I’ve travelled down the path of insanity and I know how it feels to have the majority of my thoughts being controlled by those around me wanting me to harm others be it verbally or otherwise. What they don’t know is that it is they that inevitably seek to cause us harm because of the darkness within them that tells them that we are to be tempted then punished if we give in to temptation. This manual explains this concept better than what I’m doing now and this summary briefly outlines why the way of absolute pacifism will assist you in your current endeavour.I hope this has been of some assistance to you and remember, to walk the path of peace and absolute pacifism is to walk the path of absolute perfection and vice versa. Kind regards, Amin Abdullah.
