Hey just wanted to let you know that Im getting the same problem as everyone else with the latest version, 2.6, I recorded it with stereo mix for reference purposes.This is a recording of Run For Your Life Version 2.6, downloaded today at around 7 30 AM Pacific from the link given in post 49, completely unmodified. Im running Windows 7 Pro 64Bit SP1 on a 2007 Toshiba Satellite Pro U500 with all drivers and runtimes updated to the latest publicly available stable versions.https://www.dropbox.com/s/ba0wh95z87tsmbb/Bug.mp3?dl=1The only other thing of note, is that the very first time I started the game after getting it, the error occurred as it does now, but an empty document called file.txt was also generated in the games directory. No one truly likes a button masher, and even if it is the point, which I doubt, then that just means that it will very quickly fade into obscurity like all the others, problem is, this game has too many non button mashing aspects to be a true button masher, but right now in its current form, its imbalanced, causing it to be sort of like that, but I dont really think thats what the dev was going for, fast paced and button masher are two different things, and Im guessing this is supposed to be fast paced. The size of the playing field, which is quite a bit too small for the amount of items that could be falling at the same general time, especially since they can all follow you. B. The drop rate of the items, which should ideally start out much slower than they do now and progress from there naturally. and C. Re: New game from Oriol Gómez: Run for your life! I think the main problem is that you are immediately thrown in the very deep water even though it still gets harder after a while. This makes it very hard to actually improve. On the other hand it´s also understandable that we don´t want too many very easy levels or you could get bored running through the easy stuff before getting to the hard parts. One prime example is bopit ultimate, which while lots of fun to play, takes quite a while before it gets really difficult (for me at least). On ultimate I managed to get to level 29 at one point and then lost. I tend to lack the motivation to try improving that because it takes so long to get through the 28 levels before where you left off, plus there is substantial risc of making a mistake before you actually hit level 29 again.I think what this game needs is difficulty levels. The easiest should be a lot easier than the game currently starts out being (yes I know, thats probably boring) But should still get progressively harder the longer you play. For the very easy levels you could even put in a limit to your maximum hp so that people wont have 6 million hp once they get to the harder levels. Level 4 has been my best thus far, but as I said, I want difficulty via a hard game to judge, not difficulty because most sounds are centralized so that its harder to tell what is where and because the game just throws an insane volume of stuff at you to the point you cant tell what is where. I dont believe it is specifically oriols fault, many audiogames do this (troopanum was particularly bad). Perhaps however the game should be a little more like blind swordsman and a little less like troopanum? that is what I mean regarding difficulty. Re: New game from Oriol Gómez: Run for your life! blind swordsman isnt actually a supershot clone, which is precisely my point. it has very simple mechanics, but a very well defined engine and use of judgement, it requires you to think about whats going on rather than just throwing a huge bunch of sounds and insane objects at you. Its not really to do with speed, so much as it is to do with mechanics and design, ie, designing a game where a player has to learn the engine and make judgements with respect to that learning, rather than a game that just defaults to hear and react. Hi OriolI have a suggestion: I advice you to change the landing sound or the foot steps sounds, because the landing sound seems like on a normal floor, I think it is concrete or something, and the walking sounds seems like on wood or plastic floor, in short: the foot steps sounds and the landing sound isnt compatible with each other, I advice you to change one of them to make it compatible with the other, and thanks for the awesome game Oriol, its amazing, continue this great work. I like the game, but the sterrio field is uncomfertible for me because the sounds are to close together.other than that, I wish I could pause the game, and plus, there needs to be a sonar sound when the enemie is in the center of my screen making it easy to avoid.when I said uncomfertible, I ment the sound doesnt move from right to left and left to right. New game from Oriol Gómez: Run for your life! Sorry for posting this twice... I posted it in general game discussion by mistakeHi everyone!I have made a new game, and I think this time you are really going to enjoy playing it.It is called run for your life, and I got inspired by a game from sammy center called avoid the beeps, though this game is vastly different.In this game, you have to avoid falling objects, collect bonus items, avoid falling in smoke bombs... And enjoy the immersive music, which changes according to your health!This will be a first version for the following reasons:1. I still have to record speaking files to explain when you get a bonus. Even though there is a learn sounds option, sometimes it is easy to forget what they do.2. The game still uses your screen reader to speak most things, and I want to record my own voices.3. There are still many bonus items to come, and many other fun things that I want to code.Please, check it out and read the readme file.If you have any suggestions, bug reports, or you find something in the readme that needs further explanation, please comment. Re: New game from Oriol Gómez: Run for your life! @Oriol, amusingly enough when I saw the title of this topic I laughed, I didnt know new games from you were that scary . Great sounds and music, I especially like the different death quotes. I do however have a couple of issues. First, when I first played the game the music was so loud I couldnt hear the game. I automatically hit pg down, and that worked to turn the volume down but it wasnt mentioned in the readme, also until i restarted the game I didnt seem to be able to use the arrows to move after turning down the volume, though Ive fiddled with the volume sinse and not replicated the problem. About the game itself, firstly Id like a get ready sound before the start, sinse initially Id died when I barely realized I was playing. fun for arcade weerdness, however again this suffers the problem many audiogames do of just chucking a bunch of random stuff at you as much as possible. It seems the falling objects falling sound plays wy before they hit the floor, meaning avoiding them seemed very based on luck sinse it wasnt always possible to tell what was falling and what had landed, quite apart from the higher background volume. I think part of this was that the sterrio field didnt feel particularly well defined here, most things seemed to happen in a narrow band at the center of the field without using the extreme right or left for gameplay elements as much. Im all for difficult games, but Id rather a game be difficult because I know what is going on and am learning reactions and judging the engine than just because Im trying to understand a complex bunch of souns squashed together. Then again of course, Ive not played the sammy center game so I dont know if this is similar or not. Hello,After playing for a while, Id like to offer up some thoughts.While I can see the idea behind wanting a center sound, at the same time I think it will make things a bit too easy. The thing is, the items are always tracking you, so its more about reaction times in a way. Sometimes when the item is far away from you its volume goes quiet but as it gets closer you will hear it get louder, but thats only if the item was righta cross the other side of he screen in th first place.The game is not supposed to be easy. I can make it to level four or five on most runs now. You have to pay attention to where you are and yes, where the items are, jumping definitely helps more. Of course there are bound to be those very aggressive items that just wont leave you alone and youll seem to get hit by them no matter what, but that could, in a way, be part of it. I end up dying more on the barriers than from the items falling at me which is kind of sad. THe readme mentions a fire protection bonus.
