Nook or Kindle? Or any better ideas?

So my wife got me a Nook for my birthday as I am an avid reader, but she doesnt know technology very well. So far Im having a few issues with the accessibility with it; lagging text to speech, unlabeled buttons, and other typical Android OS stuff. Because of this we were talking about returning it and possibly getting a Kindle. I was wondering if any of my EReadering friends on here had better suggestions for a device. Im not sure if I should just get a Kindle or keep the Nook. I dont think Apple makes a device like that unfortunately. Thanks very much!

Hi.well thats just great.while salvaging a debris field I was down on brainstorming grabbing as much of its stuff as I could carry in order to build a ship.The system crashed and when it came back well lets just say things were mangled.I beamed back to my ship only to find my steps messed up, I resynced again, and found the ship docked.I uundocked and then got message about message about tractered uncharted corvets and it flooded the game and I had to quit.attempting to refuel caused the ship to just plain say it was full even though I left it on for a full minute the storage bay selection never came up.Ok fine, I had collected enough metals well a lot of em at any rate so I decided to build something, obviously I didnt have enough because things seemed to have gone bananas or something who knows.Shortly after that I got a system error and the game crashed again.I suspect that what I may have to do is once I come back on 
 is clear my inventory of all the useless junk and delete and rebuy my ship.After that I will try again.Right now though for all those on the game I think you should leave it for the night unless it decides to play nice I may try one more time.

@Jack,I dont understand your opinion on Samsung galaxy s series phones. If there are any accessible android phones, those ones are Samsung galaxy s series. Touchwiz home is very accessible and you can do almost everything on it. If you have used a Samsung built-in android jellybean, then in 4.4.2 everythings better. Samsung email is accessible enough and you could do what the app stands for. Samsung itself provides some nice features that you want to take away like S voice, voice control, ability to answer calls via homebutton and end them using the power button. This serie of Samsung galaxy devices is what comes close to iPhone, in terms of accessibility. From galaxy s3, to galaxy s6 everything changed. I wish you could try a galaxy s4 or s5 and then well talk. Then dont forget apps that are built in Samsung like the sound player which is a good app to listen music, and the Samsung optical reader which is a similar app to KNFB reader, very accessible
  by the way. Samsung camera is better than the one of android stock, it can detect your face and announce it via the front facing camera.In my opinion, I wouldnt recommend flashing or installing anything which would root your device and get outa Samsungs accessibility. As far as I know, Samsung has announced that Samsung galaxy s4 would get the new version 5.0 Lollipop.And I dont understand peoples point in removing extra features from their phones. (nothing directed towards you Jack)If you dont like them, just dont use them. Why dont you remove Stocks in iPhone or any other app from there?

So just download Skype into your computer, install it, then if you are using Jaws as your screen reader, then download the Jaws Scripts for Skype and install it as well. It is necessary for better chatting, because I dont know the better place to teach you. Hi.Id highly highly recommend the Iphone, you can read books on it with no problem. The kindle app is very accessible. I dont read books on the iphone myself but I know it can be done since I briefly checked out the app and found it to be very very accessible.

Hello,I havent read through this topic, so I appoligise in advance if I repeat what has been said earlier.Just some things things to suggest:The first one is a readme update: in its current state, a newbie player whos read it can only drink, eat and sleep. Thats enough to survive, but he cant attack with a bow, build impassable things, build a boat, etc. Someone long ago had saide that this game shouldnt have recipes to build things documented to make it like, for example, revelation. I disagree with this, because... well, the storyline says youve got a manual to build such things! So why should it be hidden to the players?The second thing is that Ive found some typos, both in the changelog and in the readme. If you want, I can email or pm you a corrected readme.Third, the tracking system is kind of crazy. Steps to reproduce: go to the shallow stream and track clay. Im happy to report that the soundpack is working. Another thing I noticed is when I pasted the path into the ClokMCL file, it didnt like the fact that the first letter of my name was capitalized so I changed it to lower case and that seemed to help.

Link in post 14 updated.Now, as of the latest Miranda NG dev alpha for 32 bit and 64 bit , if you choose MSN as a protocol,it now uses a Skype For Web Gateway thing. Log in with your Microsoft account, and you should be able to chat with your skype contacts without needing the Skype client. Unsure if audiovideo is supported, though most likely not.And of course, facebook messenger works alongside MSN using Miranda, though its of course seperate.

I think the games centre bug hasnt been fully removed. I was playing through on playing on the difficult difficulty. While playing through stage 18 i went to the games centre to level the spirit sword with the confectionary crushing minnygame for something different to do. As soon as I left the game centre the difficulty had reset.

As soon as I left the game centre the difficulty had reset.Also I think there is a bug with the sky fight minnygame. My skyracer was upgraded to about 23500 durability. When I played the minnygame, then played a skyracer stage, it remained at 3.

Hay Nick.Im not exactly sure where youre stuck.If youve managed to get past the platfroms and press enter on the terminal, then all you have to do is keep jumping to avoid Remnannt until the next phase kicks in.If its the platforms youre having trouble with, it may not really be your speed thats the issue.You see, to make timers an existing thing, Ive had to wrig up time bombs in places the plaier cant reach, with a dummy virus that dies when the bomb goes off and then set it to end the stage and send the plaier somewhere else.The only problem with this is that if the plaier dies once one of those bombs is triggered, the timer; for some unexplained reason; doesnt reset.Ive tried to work around this by not making the timer start until the player gets a cirtain distance into the level.Ive tested the platforms in that level and found that its possible to reach the termina
 l at the end without difficulty, but I can always increase the time if this is a big problem.Unfortunately, there will never be another update to AAC, so the bug that might be causing your issue will never be fixed by Aaron Baker.Please let me know which part youre stuck on, because I might have forgotten to put the platforming part into the walkthrough.Later!

It is not generally true that only samsung has been advanced in terms of accessibility. Google is constantly working at it and gets even better. And another reason for me to switch over from an Iphone to android is that I am not sticking to only one speech engine or screen reader. There are a lot of different systems for the blind going around in android. Theres talkback, theres the new and rappidly improving screen reader shineplus, wich can be turned on and off without difficulties, even mobile accessibility has been updated, wich combines a screen reader and a little program suite. And another approach to this topic are closed systems like Blind navigator or blind comunicator, equal eyes or the blind shell, wich are complete program suites and can be used as launchers if you prefer. There are even modular systems like Project ray or georgie. Sure, the suites are another kind of aid, but if anyone looks for something very easy to use or has difficulties to use the an
 droid UI, it has advantages for them. In terms of speech engines, there are Vocalizer, eloquence, acapella, Svox, svox pico, the Google TTS, Espeak and some other wich can be used system wide. Just to sheet some light onto the actually existing offerings of android in this term. That where reasons enough for me to switch.

@momo7807 Dude, the game is being taken down so that only the testing team can test it. Would you rather have all of these crashes, perges, and stupid annoying bugs? Or, would you rather the testing team test the game, get rid of the pests, and then... open it up to play and make it more enjoyable? Danny is not doing this to be a jerk; hes doing it for the benefit of his players. So Id say let Danny handle this in any way he pleases.

So it seems that in spite of the testing teams efforts, the newly released update is going to have to be pulled back for further testing. The current testing team is being disbanded, and a new one formed. Unfortunately this also means that the server will not be open to the public for, at the very least, a few weeks. Alright. I want to know who, and why, they decided to blote the database by buying 10 cruisers, 20 deep space miners, and a few planet crackers to go with it. Because of this, I might need to purge and put a limit on how menny ships a player can own baste on rank. Im sorry but this is getting bloody stupid, you dont need an entire fleet of 20 vessels.

Awesome. Will download this immediately. On a side note, could someone please answer my post regarding the hyper yoyo? I went to the weapons list in the extras to see if there was a clue there on how to obtain it, but the translation that is provided is so bad and makes no sense. Ive checked this topic thoroughly for the answer, but its not here. I again searched the entire synthesis shop in 16, and there is no hyper yoyo. Ive tried using 6-1 as I did to get the original yoyo, thinking that now that I have the regular yoyo, the super yoyo, and triple yoyo, it might work, but that does not give me the hyper yoyo now, still only an original one. Please help.

Danny asked me to post this on behalf of him as hes currently working hard away at coding and getting a fix to his new testing team.So it seems that in spite of the old testing teams efforts, the newly released update is going to have to be pulled back for further testing. The current testing team is being disbanded, and a new one formed. Unfortunately this also means that the server will not be open to the public for, at the very least, a few weeks. People who are interested in testing can add danny on skype at dannystandley1. If you are looking to play a game, this is not for you. If you are looking to help the development of a future game, then feel free to apply, but keep the following in mind.Testers will be required to speak fluint english, present bugs and reports in a meaningful linear way, and be able to follow objectives and goals assigned to them. If Danny says we have to test teleporting to grandmas house it means test teleporting to grand
 mas house, not to do cargo deliveries and bounty missions.Any progress made in the testing versions will not be kept in the released version. Purges and restores may be common place, so dont complain when it happens. Hopefully we can work hard to crank out a far more stable game for us all to enjoy. If you fall short of these requirements you will be disbanded from the testing team.Thanks for reading.

Well, here is my view point on this, as the developer of the game S Quad Racing. The biggest challenges for me are for one, not wanting my game to be boring because I get some mechanic(s) of race cars wrong, -- even though Ive convinced myself that I should just do it the way I envision a fun, action packed, addicting arcade style racing game to be. Second, there is the sounds issue. It can be hard to get sounds,  I only have 8 or 9 vehicles to choose from which means I will need members of the community to build cars for the game, as Id like there to be a broad selection to choose from and unlock and such. Those are personally my only issues being a single game developer. I try not to give release dates, instead I provide people with audio demos and status updates so that they can always be in the know. But other than that, I find the process of coding and testing to be quite enjoyable. If you think ab
 out it, its a game in itself, --- complete one obstacle, code (make some progress), and then there is another obstacle which you must over come. And the reward for winning the game known only as programming, is a finished project. OK Im sorry for that extremely long rant like post.

What are your thoughts on this?Im also happy to announce, to those of you who dont view the s quad racing page of my website, that gears and vehicles have been implemented. That brings me to another question. How do you like the idea of instead of a value based vehicle builder, (thats quite unrealistic anyway), if I actually had players build cars from the garage, using actual material and parts they would have to buy, and I think I might make it so that people must earn building licenses for both tracks and vehicles.

LPR pointed out a problem with the game if you went to the save/load game windows and hit cancel before typing a file name. Ive reposted a fixed version at the same download link.Changes from 0.4d to 0.4e- Pressing PgUp and PgDn now adjusts the sapi rate.- Fixed a bug that could cause the game to error if you choose load or save and press cancel before typing a file name.

Hello.So, I looked a bit at the game and urg, there is a lot to do in there.The thing is that for example money is displayed in scrolbars, which just give out values like 1, 2 or 11, so I dont know how much money I spend there, for example for a contract with a trainer.A Theory I have, is that for example 1 is 1000 dollars or 52 is 52000 dollars, but I am not sure about that, I just came up with that idea.Could you upload the press your luck game to dropbox? [[wow]] that many ships ha?Well to be honest I used to be like that, but now I have the ship I need and thats the only one I fly.So, I start with a small light fraiter.When I have enough for the next class up I get that.Then trash the other, then I do that right up to fantom.I always have a portal back to inderian.Next I get my nova galactic.That ship I keep.I will do the same for exploration, I will probably get the lockheed and maybe then another explorer class maybe.As for battles I have no crew as such but I may experiment on some of the bigger or smaller battlers to see what they are like.The nature of me playing and not being able to play for much of the time means that I may just end up as a minor cargo hauler maybe with rp if I can get a big enough ship with crew.Why you would have 20 ships to yourself is just bad as.Now if you had a faction that would be a different thing, or an in game company 
 again different but I dont think we have the playerbase for that.Last night in inderian it was quite unstable but once i got off it well it was ok.I had been playing for some time so well.As for the current tester team.I wish you good luck, and if danny wants me back Ill gladly join back and continue to do what I can.However if its deemed I am not wanted I will not stand for realection testing with realitysoftware and before when it was reality gaming was fun.For the last 2 years when we started with sounds and stuff I had a lot to do.But with dmnb right now there are enough people testing it that I feel I am not really needed though Id like to test other things maybe.Its been fun however long that lasts at any rate.

I think you should slowly decelerate if you release the up arrow but still have a break as well, that seems more realistic. Unless youre implementing slopes, if youre going down hill, then only a break could slow you down, not just releasing the throttle.Also, having to build your car from the ground up in a garage sounds way cool.Just throwing my 2 cents out there.Keep up the good work man, I cant wait to check out what you come up with.

Hello there!I would find it more realistic if you leave in the slow deceleration of the car when you release the up arrow, and put in a break button too, so you can quickly break the car.To your second question, yeah, building your car from the ground up sounds quite cool.The thing is that if you have special parts that for example the waight is an important factor.If your car is heavy, it is harder to accelerate the car, but it would be a bit faster. Or if it is lighter, the same thing, just reversed. Cause if there is a huge number of parts for the car, and there is just no difference between them, that would take the fun and the strategic element out of the game.Greetings Moritz.

Hello,I seem to havge found a bug that is very annoying. I moved some people away from the crash sight, and had a team of two people there who couldnt move. I then made everyone else travel. They arrived at the first ridge OK, but then when I tried to make them travel again, they didnt move, even though the task was set correctly. They just all stayed at the first ridge, and I tried this four or five times and they all just died. I cant explain anything else, although, is food required to travel? Because everyone had a food shortage.

Well, not all of us have disk drives, or an accessible virtual box. Virtual box for mac is of the least bit accessible. Anyone who has fullproof gotten this to work, could you please share with us your xp vm preconfigured? Yes, virtual box may be somewhat accessible on the pc, but for mac its accessibility is bordering on nonexistent. And as far as I know, Computer Room Services are only selling Time Adventures, not Private Detective School. They used to, but its not on their site, not anymore anyway. Moderators correct me if Im wrong or if theres an alternate source to buy it, but as of today when I checked theres no way of buying it so it seems like working around the drm is what well have to do. As for the other games Im glad theyre hosted somewhere where hopefully it will be permanent. That Jokuri site has been up for years now and seems to show no sign of being taken down.

I am impressed. Playing the CW2 map with 7 AIs including 2 friendly AIs I was able to use cannon towers to hold off a vastly superior force for 30 minutes on two flanks. Eventually Catapults began bombarding my position. The knights and archers came in to mop up,; they broke through my lines within two minutes.The AI does not bog down my sstem at all.On another note, sometimes I would hear events 10 seconds after they happened while using screen readers. To fix this open soundrts.ini and findsrapi_wait = 0.1Change tosrapi_wait = 0.05
