It is not considered a glitch when something pixelized.The car is completely ethereal. I can't touch it, my hand just bounces off it, and it's floating 2 feet in the air.Ok Ma'am, I said. I'll be iright over to check it out.I stepped out of the office, walked down the corridor, and stepped intothe locker room.I punched In my locker code, pulled it open, and grabbed my supply backpack.Inside it were all the items and devices I would need to fix glitches and bugs.I pulled a small cylinder from my pocket, the size of a pack of mints, and twisted the top.initiate program spawn_obj, vnum: 4248, filename:   communicator.ItWithout a sound, a large device formed in my hand,rectangular and covered in buttons.I typed in a code and spoke into it.Vanira, this is Sander Tellus leaving the bcurrent map to fix a vehicular bug on the map lancing.MI.The voice of my superviser came through. The inventory should speak, but is a little laggy. When you first open it, it won't say anything but if you move left and right, it might say empty slot and such.How did you manage to complete objectives? I seem to be ableto grab the villager in the first level, creaper woods, but from there I don't really know how to find the caravan. It's quite close to being playable, alll that really needs to be added is a way for us to navigate.

Re: Seeking a good pair of headphones

Hi. Indeed, it's a bad idea to wear headphones all day long. Firstly, if you're using a synthesizer at the highest speed, you're directly throwing tiny sonic bombs at your ears. In second place, the vacteria inside the headset (and inside the ears also) will reproduce faster, and in third place, you'll lose lots of hertz of hearing if you do so. Headphones are great, but do not! Use them all day long, specially if you're a musician, recorder, or just if you wanna work with your ears. Our ears are our eyes man.Also, i'm going to ask another question: Can you guys please recommend me any headset that has supported frequency to 45000 or higher? I need them urgently as I'm editing stuff for my university and doing homework for the thingy.Thanks!

Re: Dissidia Final Fantasy: a Final Fantasy game we can all enjoy

Ok no one has taken the time to explain this, so I will do so. In dissidia, the field consists of a number of pieces which include yourself, the enemies, chests, and an end point. Your goal is to move your piece accross the field until you reach the end, taking care of anything and looting any chests that may be in the way. You do this by selecting your piece with the cross button, moving with the arrows, and confirming with the cross buttons. If you move between enemies, or into a position where they surround you on two sides, they may and will automatically engage you, and you will be forced to battle them. This only happens if they are both 1 square away from you. If you have not yet selected your piece, you can press the r button and explore your surroundings with a curser. Note that this only works in the first dissidia. Whether in this mode or while your piece is selected, you can cancel your movement with the circle button. Square is to bring up your consumables, which you can pick with the arrows and choose with cross. Triangle is to bring up the menu. I think that is it.

Nidza is correct about my first post.I kind of wanted that version to be a sort of at a glance, tracker, style version.I suppose, I still might be able to set that up. When I get more time, I'll be happy to try to maintain this, I'll go through everything myself. This way everybody wins. After the maintaining, I will need to make sure to keep on updating as other staff members add to the topic.The hardest part is going to be getting the post up to date, I may have to start from scratch, removing the people I know are no longer banned, and going from there. I do not know if it will ever be fully complete, but I will try to at least make it more current.

Cyber assault literally has the same death string as alter aeon, and I'm sure there are tons more examples out there. An example of a stock mud might be coffee mud. This leads me to conclude that this whole fuss about Prometheus being a clone is a heap of hot air as there are a lot of "clone" muds out there that have taken on their own identity thanks to the people who, you know, actually put an effort to write out 500 room descriptions and tweak things under the hood so that it has it's own mechanics and the like. Muds and moos aren't your average audiogame.The difference between Cyber Assault and Prometheus is that Cyber Assault was built off of TBAMUD, a codebase that was willingly distributed publicly. Cosmos was distributed against the developer's wishes, and continues to be used to create mediocre clones of Miriani without actually changing much in the database. Also I don't buy your argument regarding MUDs/MOOs not being like the average audiogame at all. It's still a game that should be subjected to the same rules and criteria that everything else here falls under. There are plenty of cores and bases to build MUDs off of (legally), this isn't one of them.

Re: General fighting game banter

There werent too many stages in marvel vs 2. I guess another reason why I like that soundtrack so much is because I can just throw it on and listen to it for the heck of it. I remember reading stories of some kid's dad looking at him funny because he was bumping his killer instincts soundtrack. If I decided I was gonna throw on a street fighter or donkey kong country soundtrack at some non game related social event, people would probably look at me funny too. However, marvel 2's soundtrack has enough to stand on it's own if some jazz ensemble decides they want to throw it in as one of the songs they're performing, and no one would be none the wiser. Someone could be like wow this song has some sick rhythm and really intricate notation! What is this? And I would be like o this is from the marvel vs capcom 2 fighting game series. Then that person would be like get out of here! This is video game music? It sounds so good! And I would be like yeah,, absolutely!Everything I said can be applied to the streets of rage soundtracks. Do you know that people were actually requesting that the composers of that soundtrack come to their clubs and DJ for them. I feel like if we have to always restrict ourselves to familiar character themes, then people will become tired of the thousands of remixes available. I know I'm already burnt out on Ryan's theme lol. It's good, but you can only hear it so many times in so many ways before it becomes tiresome. Video game music composers should have some freedom to Express their creativity from time to time so things don't become monotonous.

Help regarding enemies in BGT.

Hello Audiogamers. It's been a longtime without posting, but here we go. So I have learned quite a bit from open sources that I had before, but I do not try to clone. I just learn and recode all over. And those sources, are not big fancy once that you expect. Those were actually mason's sources here on the AGarchive. Anyway. I have a game that uses sound positioning 1d. There is an enemy that spawns every a few seconds, and that enemy has a random position to spawn on. However, the enemy does not spawn two times in the row or more, instead it only respawns when it dies. And though I wanted to write a class for enemy, but it wasn't prior to my knowledge. Especially when we consider that the game is so small, and I don't know what variables it needs for a good class. Anyhow, my question is the following: How do I make the enemy walk towards your x position every given time amount elapsed? Because the sound is positioned at where it randomly spawns, and it does not walk where you go. So I , for vague, tried to do the following, and guess what, it didn't succeed. Partially because I didn't know how to do it, and a part of it is not supposed to work this way. I made a timer called walktimer; Inside an if statement I wrote:if(enemypos==enemypos and walktimer.elapsed>600){enemypos+=1;}But, it did not work out. So what are your suggestions?

Re: When I thought the blind community can't surprise me anymore

Okay, I've seen where people have been saying that producing braille is perhaps a wasteful thing now, and that almost everything can be found online. However, let's look at the case where a student is looking at a lesson where maps, diagrams, or graphs are being used. As far along as screen-reading technology has come, it can't read those things. My daughter is just now finishing up her fifth grade year, and, because of what I have mentioned, somewhere between a quarter and one half of the math work was almost completely inaccessible because the screen-reader couldn't read it. So, the argument that braille is a wasteful thing is not exactly a viable point to stand by when it doesn't take into account all cases where it is essential. I will agree that there are many cases where braille is not really needed, but until screen-readers can somehow be programmed with optical image recognition and better optical character recognition, we'd be in good shape and I could get behind the idea of not using braille for most documents.

I feel like I used to have perfect pitch but my progressive hearing loss has pretty much killed it.  But I think there are different levels of pefect pitch. I'm able to play things back but sometimes I'm one half step off and just have to go to the rite one. Idk, it's strange. I haven't been in bands for a while now though and I do primarily Hip-Hop music and when you deal with sampling and stuff that's actually recorded, and  not perfection  (real human instruments tuned a tiny bit off or differently) you pretty much lose the idea of conforming to a standard of what a note is.

I have the sort of perfect pitch that lets me learn songs easily on piano or by voice without reading music. What's going is that runways are devided. For instance, in order of runways, you have 1, 2, 3, then sometimes a1, a2, etc. However more often than not, it'll be; 1, 2, 3, a, and b. If the group you get is a and b, not a1 etc, after runway 3, if you have to take off from say, runway a2, when you hear concourse a, turn go inside it by turning left or right, depending where you hear it; then you'll see a1, a2, etc.

Remember that there are companies that have been waiting for this moment, such as [Bigelow Space Industries]. They were the ones who tested an inflatable ISS module awhile back, and have plans for launching larger modules to build independant space stations. We could even one day see in orbit construction of modular space ships, on top of SpaceX's Starship.

Re: Sable Alpha is here!–free to download for Public alpha testing!

Paul, I hope you'll pardon my candor here, but I need to say that the door and size transitions should be combined into one item, as they essentially serve the same purpose.This would have many benefits to project creators.First, any transition could be sized to the creator's wishes.Second, it'd probably reduce code and menu clutter with only one item being needed.Third, the destination of any transition could be changed easier, as a creator wouldn't need a fixed item on the other side of a transition, just a set of position coordinates to drop the player at.This could be changed from the object options menu at any time by going through the same prompts the creator used to first set a transition's destination, IE, taking the creator to the map and asking them to place the exit with enter.A non-destination transition could be set as well, by simply pressing escape when asked for a map name.This way, a project creator could design maps without first needing to create all destination maps beforehand.Later, when a destination is needed, a creator could simply make the map and link to it.This could also be a way to allow creators to flesh out a game world with doors the player wouldn't be able to enter, or transitions that don't need any kind of exit point, but simply do something like alter encounter rate, change music etcetera.This brings me to my next proposal.The lock/unlock requirements for transitions should be moved into the event trigger system.This would:1. Allow creators to more easily set and amend lock conditions without changing other transition properties.2. Allow creators to lock off parts of maps until a quest is completed.So you could have a sized transition of a line of tiles that would check if the player had killed a monster or found an item before letting them move into an area of a map.This could have major implications for scenario creation, as well as level balancing.Well, I'll shut up now, before I dig myself into a huge hole...Later!

To the original topic:If this person is spending their own money on books and then erasing them, that's their business. If they're erasing borrowed materials/ stuff belonging to the general public then that's a different story.I have a multitude of weird fetishes, possibly caused by impairment of multiple senses. Some are sexual, some are not. While I don't care to admit to what these are in public, suffice it to say that while harmless, they make dating a bad idea.I think braille is important to learn. Personally I have limited use for it beyond labeling the buttons on the microwave etc. I used braille exclusively in school until grade 5. Come grade 9 or so, most everything was computer. For me, reading was never a pleasurable activity. It was tedious as hell. As fast as I listen to my synth I doubt very much it raises a candle to being able to glance at a page and get most of the pertinent information in seconds, but it sure is better than 30 - 45 words per minute.The behaviour described in the OP just sounds like typical sensory compensation to me. Is it any more unusual than say, ASMR? I don't think so. Yet that's not a blind specific thing.

Re: Sable Alpha is here!–free to download for Public alpha testing!

@LemThanks for your thorough response, I have three comments on it.1.  I think that going into a second round of testing after Crimson Eclipse is a smart idea.  Learning what could be improved after a full game is released and played through will give you valuable feedback that you can't get from smaller test projects.2.  I fear that your plan for only rewriting Sable in C# if there is enough interest in the BgT version, while sensible from an efficiency point of view, might hurt you in the end.Given that BGT generally has a bad wrap by the average non coder, weather that's deserved or not, and the issues with anti virus false flagging, I'm concerned that combined with the lack of internal scripting support and deep customization for RPG's of other genres, you aren't going to get allot of sales.Consider that most experienced coders would either not need Sable, or find it a useful framework but likely feel too limited by it, while most people who are interested in the game right now are younger and don't have access to their own money.If you measure success by the number of mid to large sized projects created with Sable, you may be disappointed there as well.  The audio games community has a bad track record when it comes to team developed games, and lately, longer term projects in general.Our biggest games are often made by a small handful of solo devs over a couple years, or sighted indi dev teams who are external to this community, and in the second case, they will likely have their own more powerful engines to work with.I believe that the only way you will be able to have what you want is if you base it on the number of downloads or the level of hype, and expose enough of the engine to experienced coders for them to have an interest in using it.3.  It's not your responsibility to make sure that people are original, you just give them the tools, that I agree with completely.However, looking at it from a big picture point of view, I can see how this could go wrong without enough customizability, or even with it, just based on the past.I want to make it clear that those concerns have nothing to do with you though, and that I wouldn't blame you if people started misusing your engine, in the same way that I don't blame Philip for making BGT just because people use it to make crappy online FPS's and sidescrollers that all copy off of each other.

Any MMORPG rrecommendations?

Sorry if this has been talked to death, but I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for online mmorpgs? I logged back onto Core Exiles again after several years, and it seems a bit quiet. I'm particularly looking for something with a strong player base. I've also recently played Alter Aeon and Cosmic Rage. Thanks for any suggestions!

@65I'm kind of the resident "I didn't know that was a fetish" person, up to and including that accidentally attended a branding story, and I don't know what yours are nor do I particularly care, but you probably can date.  If you're not 18, wait till then, then get on FetLife or something.  I don't particularly think I should go listing off example FetLife groups or anything, but suffice it to say that it's pretty trivial to find people who want to literally be hung up-side-down from the ceiling and beaten and that's basically kink vanilla.Threads like this annoy me because everyone who needs to feel normal always decides to pick a fetish and "well at least I'm not" and it's just like seriously: 400 gay guys meet a block from here every month because they enjoy dressing up like dogs (and being treated like dogs, to one extent or another) and it's public, you can just be at the bar at the right night and there it is.

Re: General fighting game banter

Hmm. Think we might have to disagree respectfully here too. I see what you mean about jazz being more playable at a non gaming event, but I don't think that makes video game music any less creative when it's not jazz. I'd be right along with that kid rocking to the KI soundtrack, or even the Samurai Shodown 2019 soundtrack.And to be clear here, I do enjoy jazz. haha. I could go on and on about soundtracks that I could put on and listen to regularly. haha. But I do see what you mean about jazz or the SOR funk type soundtrack being more accessible to perform at a live venue. And funny you mentioned Ryu's theme, because there are several street fighter themes I love hearing remixes of. Ryu, Guyle and Ken just to name three. lol I love hearing what people do with them. Ken's theme redone by a pair of duelling guitars was fantastic. And anyone who can play Guyle's theme as an electric guitar rock piece is awesome. I love playing it myself. Jazz can be good in video games. It's just never complimented the fighting for me. But that's just me.

That site seems to be out of date, as some of those links lead to websites that don't exist. I know that PCS Games, L-Works and PB Games work on Windows 10 and Jen, though for Jen you will need to download the Narrator extension for audiogames if you're using Narrator. If you're using JAWS, you can't play games unless you turn it off since JAWS is complete crap when it comes to games, and Windows Jen will delete JAWS and prompt you to either install NVDA, System Access or Window Eyes, or use Narrator which is very similar to NVDA.

Ok, that guy definitely has a weird thing going on with him. Don't think it'sreally harmful, though. No one hand types books anymore, thankfully. I'm sure whoever writes them out are being financially compensated. Still odd. Woopie, erased braille... Get some fucking sandpaper lol.Honestly the only thing I'd find braille useful for me nowadays is math. I can't even remember the last time I read something with braille, be it on a display or on a paper in a book. Probably in high school. Print isn't like braille because blind people can't see braille. It's a writing system for sure and anyone who has to should learn it, as with print. But everything online just makes everything so goddamn easier. The day colleges don't charge anyone out the ass for books after they paid for classes will be a good day for me. Braille books are big and bulky, and for one math book, theirs like 10 braille ones. I know I said braille is useful for math, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's been hte same for some other books like history and such. Come on, that's ridiculous.

Nolan had made some inquiries with a sales rep and the figure they came up with was 15,000$ USD, plus signing an NDA. Hm, well if there's no need to care about previous tiles, there may be no need to retain them in memory either. When moving forward, can they move left or right? Or is it just a straight line? How far ahead can they see along this path? Internally what you could do is just move the player back when they cross the threshold and randomize the tiles ahead of them, perhaps something like this:import random

x = 0
world = []
for a in range(0,10,1):
world.append(random.randint(0,50))

print(world)

count = 0
while count < 5:
if x == 10:
x = 0
world.insert(0,world.pop(9))
for a in range(1,10,1):

Re: Warsim, text based randomly generated stratogy

This seems like a really cool and well thought out system.  Bravo!I'm excited to try this out, as I believe it could add a valuable element to each playthrough, and the origin options are almost endless as well.I also love that you integrated some of the ideas about bandit king popularity!I do think that your chance of assimilating groups should depend on your current popularity and number of bandits and weather or not you own the places bandits like to hang out plus any anti bandit laws you may have and how much gold you've got though.Also, it could be neat to have more outcomes when interacting with a group with empty land, such as the warlord trying to sell the land to you at a markup, or joining you out of fear as a bandit warlord in your army and giving you the land, or giving you the land in exchange for his freedom/becoming a prisoner rather than being executed if you have anti bandit laws EtC.More origin stories, like from taverns or pits would be interesting.And I'm glad that you added some more potential rewards when destroying a kingdom, though I still wish you had more choice in it, I.E execute or imprison the king and depending on who started the war first, if their laws generally line up with yours, if they are considered a more noble race, what your relationship/trade root status was before the war started, if you used mercs or not ETC, you could lose or gain popularity for doing so.Same goes for executing, imprisoning, enslaving, or integrating any remaining units.Their king offering vassalization/money in exchange for keeping his last land and running away or getting killed trying if you say no would also be pretty awesome.Oh and I still think being able to integrate your monster cages into your courtroom trapdoor for extra popularity loss is a fun idea by the way...  Mat1211 gets the credit for that one though.P.S. The word "bandit" now sounds meaningless after reading that changelog.

OK so I'm trying to understand what's happening there. It says to use the steering functionality on your game controller, and I don't know what the keyboard equivalent would be. Also, it seems to auto activate hyperdrift each ttime a sequence with steering happens, or is that just manually being done? The hyperdrift sound is really quiet, a good deal quieter than usual. What happens if you don't drive in the right lane, do you just take a big bunch of dmg?

Math is definitely the application where tactile is better. Though I learned it more readily with a larger tactile representation like strings/ pegs on a board as opposed to a braille diagram.I can't help but wonder how effectively you could represent graphs musically? I mean, you could do bar charts with tones which last for different durations depending on the length of the bar. You could probably do something similar with a pie chart. I can imagine a musical representation of a scatter plot as well using beeps and panning.I don't miss braille text books. Heavy, bulky, slow and fatiguing to consume.

Re: Best computers for a beginner programmer and game developer

As long as you have any I3 to an I7 processor released in the past 10 years you should be good. Anything besides that, no idea. Even low powered M3's like in the gpd win 2 should handle things like this. The nice thing about audio games is there is not too much they can do to tax computers for the most part.

Launch Success! The core landed safely on the drone ship "Of Course I Still Love You", and Bob and Doug are now going to coast for the next 19 hours before auto-docking wth the International Space Station. It seems SpaceX may continue the stream until docking is complete, which will happen Sunday, May 31st at 10:27am.

I think there have been a few attempts at a collab, and there are a few people working on a few things, though motivation and time are precious resources. Such an engine is also on my todo list, though i'm currently occupied dealing with a few things in addition to being backlogged with other projects. If you need any examples or have any questions for your own project however, feel free to ask.

Re: Prometheus back online!

Unless the races actually make sense and have some balance now than I'm not that interested.Besides, Jack often went on paranoid powertrips and added shiny new features rather than fixing bugs, which, if unchanged, means that this will probably be down again soon.It's sad because I liked certain things about Promo allot.  The ship builder available to anyone and the ability to list created ships publicly if approved, the teleporter beacons even if they were OP as hell, the space stations with enemies even if the NPC's were just Prailor ripoffs, and some of the people were pretty cool too.

Re: Aurora 4X: What do you want to see?

Hi All,Lordlundin and I tried our hand at recording an audio tutorial today. It was just going over the economics window and talking about the game accessibility, hardly professional. I hope it helps some of you and isn't a turn-off, since we don't actually get much of anything done in the time, just talking a lot about the game windows and such. Next time around he'll play and I'll commentate, and we'll have a chance to actually do some ship design and such. It will hopefully be posted soon, once he's had some time to edit it.
