Especially when it comes to writing posts on new games in the new releases room or the articles room or the main page.Its okay for people to make mistakes when writing in a informal forum like the off topic forum, but when we have a new release or a news post to me, spelling errors are a big no no. Oh sure if you make a couple then thats fine, but at least either put your post through a spell checker or listen with your screen reader. I think dark wrote about this before and basically said he didnt have time to run through the spell checker or that the HTML would interfere with the spell checker. I disagree with that, if youre going to run a forum then at least spell correctly and use the correct punctuation.yes there might have been spelling errors in my post but Im not important in this forum, well okay maybe my opinions are but I mean I dont run it as in write reviews and updates for games and things like that.Also as for the HTML. write your post in one notepad window. then copy and paste it into the body of the page. I dont mind that and can put up with it. What I do mind is important topics on any webpage not only audiogames.net, that have spelling mistakes in them.Oh and one thing that really really bugs me is than and then. Then it began to rain. On my birthday it was hotter than hell. okay crappy examples but thats all I can come up with for now. I really dont get how people can get those two words confused. Ive seen it so many times in stories, in blog posts, sometimes on here too. I can understand if English isnt your first language but for those that speak English as there first language and do not have a learning difficulty like dyslexia, for example, O just dont get it.Anyway to wrap this up, yes I do believe spelling is very important when it comes to news post s and updating the DB. Re: How much does spelling matter Hi.Actually, with eliquence u can tell when youve wrote u or you. it sounds slightly different.But with voiceover on iphone you canttel the diffirence.and auto correct on iphone doesnt correct u for me, it just puts it as u. which i like to be honest its quicker when youre writing a text to write u and r and all that. As long as you dont go stupid with short hand I think its okay. A stupid example would be. h1 what r u p 2 2day. i wnt 2 de shps nd it ws fn. it would annoy me and Im sure you too. so Im not like that. But I do use some shorthand when texting. Re: How much does spelling matter Hi.As for me. My spelling isnt that good and my punctuation is quite bad. In school it didnt matter that much as tward has said before, but in college it mattered a lot more. But the thing was they never told me off because of my spelling. The courses were bad apart from one college I went to for a year which honestly was the best college Id went to. It was a mainstream college. The teacher Gladieth was a really good teacher. a lot of people thought she was strict but I thought that she was preparing us for the real world. Which is great. I found that the special colleges and schools are quite bad. I dont like them and dont think I ever will. To those blind or v.i people that went to mainstream youre very very lucky. Special schools are good for teaching you Braille and maybe if youre lucky theyll teach you a little bit about JAWS or another screen reader, but apart from that, I found theyre not worth it. Hi.I know Ive asked this before but I was wondering with the update to OSX I think its called, is it possible for voiceover to not read line brakes?I have a lot of harry potter fan fiction and text files.But when I read with voiceover it always reads the new lines.Is there a way to stop this? Because I know its better, faster less buggy and just works. Where as Flaws well has many problems.As for the KNFB Im going to be bying it because I feel that it would be a great app to invest money in. But I can see why people would want a demo. Id want a demo too but I dont think we are going to get one.I took a look at a device today in the RNIB and it was rubbish in my opinion. It was a portable scanning device that has a dazy player. wait what? Why does mostly blind devices like that portable scanner have to come with some kind of mp3 or dazy player? The voice for the device was horrible, although I will say this, the guy who was showing me the device didnt seem to get the fact that if you scan a page with pictures on it the OCR engine is going to get confused. But still Id not buy it. They wanted to pay £500 so thats about $750 I think. For me Ill be paying for the KNFB reader and if it does not work as they said it would, Ill be emailing them and Ill be getting my money back. And if I cant? will I be annoyed for a little while? yes, but will I get really angry? no. And Ive also herd of people demanding free stuff just cause theyre blind.For example: My nan and dad and granddad all think that cause Im blind I should get things for free, like a electric blanket and other things. There was this form thing I could fill out and get this stuff for free. I tried explaining that just because Im blind does not mean I should get things for free. I actually hate it and would never tell anyone to get something for free just cause youre blind or V.I. Anyway We found the pizza guy, who buy the way should have got a raze in his job for dealing with this moron. The man said, Oh Im so sorry if I had known you were blind I would have parked rite next to the college. I said, thats fine, its not a problem at all. Get this guys, he took a couple pounds off the pizza for us, I believe that he took £5 off. So he asks us. Do you need any help getting back to the campus? Before I could say anything this friend, says, no! we can do it our selves! I not joking around here, he actually shouted at the guy. He took the pizzas and walked off. I was not only shocked but it ruined my hole evening and I am not going to see this guy again.I said I was so sorry about that, he said it was fine and drove off.Thats not all, we get back in and this is how the idiot finds out what pizza is what, now keep in mind yes hes Muslim so cannot eat pork, but thats still no reason to do what he did. He opens the pizza and... sniffs it, whats so wrong about that? Well, he had a cold... so I dont know if any snot got on the pizzas. I hate it but Im telling you now Im not going back there.Thats just one example Im sure you guys have more. It really pisses me off when I see blind people like this. Id not try to scan a book with it since thats not what its for unfortunately. another thing youve got to take in to consideration is the font used. Star traders. Hi.Ive just started on what most people who like space games are talking about, yep, star traders RPG.I have one question which I really need answered. When I go to a planet and explore it, I can click on the load cargo button, click on 3 records for example then slide the slider to fifty or sixty five, then click on get cargo. but when I click on back after sliding all the sliders I just go back and can harvest and other things all over again. So I know Im doing something wrong but I dont know what.Could you help?Thanks. Re: For those who want it, the KNFB reader is here. Hi.Im using IOS 8 and theres been no problems with the app what so ever. well its ios 8.2 but even when running just IOS 8 it worked fine. Yes there was a bug where sometimes it would not go back to the main screen after finding no text, but all you have to do to fix that is press the pause button and it will go back. That should be fixed in the next update. but yeah I dont understand why people are having problems with IOS 8 its working fine for me. I have a question, what IPhone are you running it on? It works good on the five and five s, and Im guessing great on the six. but not so good on the 4s. I bought the Scottish voice but found that when using it if you go below a certain pich it sounds horrible or above a certain pitch again it sounds bad. A question Hi.My question is this, why are there still games in the database that are either to old,or dont work on newer systems.These games have been here for years and as far as I know, nothings been done. Why is this. If you run a site, the idea is to keep the site up to date, is it not?Sure some games might run on xp and some people might still have xp but honestly I feel that quite a few of these games could go.Oh and on another toppic, is anything being done about eric the cleric? Ive been to college for four years, each year was bad apart from 1 I.T year. Ive tried to make friends with sighted people in colleges but all they do is ignore me, or pretend to be your friend then go back to there own people and ignore you. Ive tried and tried again. Ive tried looking for jobs but got fed up and board. So do I sit around and get money from the government? Yes. Am i happy? yes. IS that the most important thing to me? Yes.I also know blind people with jobs and they are happy doing what theyre doing.Me, personally, Im going to try my hand at a pottery class for a term, then try my hand at learning the saxophone. I feel that if I give to others and to myself, then Im happy. Yes there may come a day when I have to get a job because of cuts and things like that. And when that day comes Ill be ready with my skills. Oh I dont have a CV yet, but well if you can show them you can do a sertan thing then if that day came, i doubt it would matter that much if you had the skills on paper or not. Plus you could always go back to college for a year to relearn, or put it down on paper that you know a sertan thing. Although I dont know if that would be possible. So what Im saying is this, when it comes it comes and Ill be ready.On another topic related to JAWS, have anyone herd of this leci thing? I personally think its a lode of rubbish.My reasons: 1. If youre new to computers youll expect laci menus everywhere, when that simply isnt the case.2. The amazing features are everyday features and I hate it when a company does that. Forgetting for the moment that you dont even know me, what exactly would that have achieved, Crashmaster?I understand finding a job is tricky, I tried, went through coledge we call it university here, to a point I couldnt go on due to visual subjects and such.I didnt have it smooth sailing, I had trouble with high turn over in agencies for the disabled in general, raw deals with equipment and issues on actually getting people to get things done.Which was why I left in the end.Even the blind org did not help job seeking sites and other things.Firstly why does it matter what the sighted think.In fact there are more that know me than I know and I never associated myself socially with normals at all in university that much.Also, I sometimes find it distracting at times when more know me than I know.Shouldnt there be a question mark there? Its not the jobs that makes a person, its there skills and how much they want to put into something they do.Having left highschool and being able for the most part to breeze through with the various blind related job courses behind me the world was my oister.Huh? What blind job courses? over here in the UK we dont have those.Ah maybe the RNIB, where you can learn to talk on a phone and sell products, thats not a proper job or course. RNIB are shit anyway. There prices for all things are way to high and there staff, well most are nice but some from what Ive been told are quite rude. Although I dont have factual evidence to back that up myself.I had it all, I had a possible job, of sorts and I was ready to conker the world.How wrong I was.My life skills course got me down quite quick, bored as heck, I used to eat 20 dollars worth of kfc a day, eat 2 packs of chips and biscuits a day just to get through the boredom.That really isnt healthy...Id recommend juicing if you want to live a healthy life stile.Maybe steamed veg too. See, I like that kind of stuff and even though I dont get much of it, I will when I move, I take it when i can. Id use XL because it is easier to wiz around the table format and use the formulers.Although if youve not used Xl then it might be quite tricky. The ups and the downs of it all.Someone once asked me, if I could get my site back, would I do it. I said straight away, no. They were shocked. Ive Always thought my chances of finding a partner were impossible.I had a girlfriend, a couple months ago, it didnt work out so I said it had to end. Oh my friend Amin, AKA Bashue would, but hes blind too. Although to be fair on them, I didnt go and introduce myself so Im going to try to do that in my pottery class and see where that gets me. The one thing I cant stand is when they guide you to your seat chatting and all that, then they go away and youll never see them again in that class or outside of it. There were a couple women who guided me and Amin, which was nice and they were nice, but again they werent our friends, just people that guided us. We never asked to be friends but do we have to? A sighted person can just go up to another person and say hi and bang! theyve got a connection. How does that work anyway? Why cant the blind, or should I say, why cant I do that? Maybe its cause I dont say, Hi Im brad, or maybe its something else. I dont know. Re: Guess What! - Window-Eyes 9.0 Beta Discussion Thread Hi.Let me start off by saying Im an NVDA user and I know Ill contiyu to be one.Personally I find tables fine, you just use alt control up left rite and down to read. As for all new web support Im not seeing anything so far that will convince me to change. We have the cube for twitter for example.Im not saying this is a terrible screen reader, honestly I cant really since I tried window eyes ages ago and didnt really like it, what Im saying is all this hipe, not by you guys but by the podcast guy is kind of annoying. Its like hes saying. We have the best screen reader ever. its totally new and has never been seen before! I dont know maybe its just me, maybe Im stubborn and sticking to NVDA but four now Ill be that way. Although saying that, I cant wait to see the new improved narator. I like windows eight narator its nice but windows ten should be better. Has anyone herd the new narator in action?Sorry for going a little off topic. Its a lot slower than NVDA, it... cuts... up... things... on... youtube... when... reading... headings... I understand that last part might have been annoying but I wanted to show you how it sounds.Voices.Well we have e speak, and eliquence sapi and a couple others which I feel dont need to be there like, tripple talk? I think its called. These kind of voices are not usable even if you change the number thing after selecting a voice.I wont go much into this but I feel theyve copied NVDA a little here, of cource screen readers will copy one another, the internet being one thing they do all copy, JAWS, NVDA and WINDOW EYES, all have the h= Heading, b= button, l= list in NVDA and JAWS, in window eyes I think thats the key for links.Anything positive to say about window eyes? Im sorry to window eyes fans and tho se that are excited about the release but no, theres nothing I can say thats positive about window eyes. It crashed on me the first time, didnt lode the set files, cut sentences up which didnt need to be cut up, oh and for those of us who use youtube, well lets just say youre not going to get to your flash object with the O key, I have no idea how you do it but I hope it can be done.Over all with the little testing Ive done. Id have to give it a 1 out of 5. Hmm it just sounds more grown up )My idea is this, would it be possible to assign keys to the buttons on the site when posting a topic?For example. post topic Alt+Shift+P and so on?I think it would make navigation just that little bit quicker.
