[AZORES-Genealogy] Questions on name and help

2018-07-24 Thread 'Bob's AOL Accounts' via Azores Genealogy
Hi I have been looking for my family in Terceira, in the village of Ribeirinha.
I was looking through death records from 1890 to 1899, and in the year of 1898
I came across death Record #49 (and there is two pages) for Maria Evangelho,
that was married to Francisco Jose Bettencourt, it also shows that she is the
daughter of Joao Goncalves (looks to be) Couta and mother is (looks to be)
Luzia Evangelho.

Now here is my questions, one of the surname I am researching is Evangelho, no
I know that some types a female is given another name and it sometimes used
over and over, but I am wondering why the Evangelho name, for both daughter and
Mother, is it possible they wanted to keep the Evangelho name or was it used
for another reason. I asking to see if someone else has came across this. I
know where the Male has used the mother’s last name as his last name but I have
not come across it with the Mother and Daughter either keeping that last name,
or am I looking at this wrong?

Good to know that there's some content there. The librarian made it sound
like a catalog only - like an index. She said if I wanted information, to
use the CCA. I guess because I was doing genealogy she thought perhaps I
wasn't interested in other content. Cheri

You can also research on the Tombo website. Maybe someone else can

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Inventories (Inventarios) and wills

2018-07-24 Thread Margaret Vicente
Perhaps the staff is not aware of all the Arquivo contains. There's a lot
of content not just indexing. It all depends what you are searching for.
There are transcripts and there are documents with digital representation,
meaning they can be viewed and downloaded, unfortunately it's all in
Portuguese. The search parameter is not easy to use.

Here's the link to a transcript, accounting for Horta's 1874 expostos,
budget etc

http://www.arquivos.azores.gov.pt/details?id=1240760

Here's a digital representation of genealogical nature, they may have done
it either as a sample. Ribeira Grande, Estrela baptisms

http://www.arquivos.azores.gov.pt/viewer?id=1021142=1

Here's quite a bit of information of the Family Campos Medeiros

http://www.arquivos.azores.gov.pt/details?id=1347047

etc.
