[AZORES-Genealogy] Úrsula Leite - Nordeste

2019-09-01 Thread George Sousa
Hi all,
I could use some help trying to figure out what is going on with this
baptismal record
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-ND-SAOJORGE-B-1675-1706/SMG-ND-SAOJORGE-B-1675-1706_item1/P51.html
(fourth entry on the right).

Here is what I have so far...
"Urcela (Úrsula)

Em os vinte e seis dias do mes de dezembro deste anno de mil e seis sentos
e outenta e outo Baptizou o pedro? furtado Leite Con?ficiado Em esta Matrix
de Sao Jorge a sua ? a que foi ? ? ? Joam Leite e de Izabel Figueira foram
padrinhos francisco de ? da Costa e sua molher Maria de torres ?..."

I believe this is the baptismal record of Úrsula Leite (my wife's 7x great
grandmother). Úrsula married Amaro Pimentel (or Amaro da Costa) on November
20th 1715 in Nordeste. In the marriage record Úrsula's parents are listed
as Joao Leite and Isabel Figueira.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Margarida Resendes and Félix de Resendes Carvalho , Santo Espirito, Santa Maria

2019-04-09 Thread George Sousa
For the benefit of future researchers of this couple I'd like to summarize
what I've uncovered and clear the confusion that I may have introduded.
Special thanks to Tish and Cheri.

Félix de Resendes (aka Félix de Resendes Carvalho) married Margarida
Resendes on May 15, 1731 in Santo Espirito, Santa Maria (
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-C-1731-1751/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-C-1731-1751_item1/P4.html
)

Félix de Resendes (Groom)

   - Died Apr 23 1766 at the age of 65 (more or less) in Santo Espirito,
   Santa Maria (

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-O-1759-1793/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-O-1759-1793_item1/P27.html
   )

   - Born approximately 1701 and I'm still looking for his baptismal
record. Félix de Resendes had at least one sister named Margarida.
Margarida was born on August 8, 1708 in Santo Espirito, Santa Maria (

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1700-1710/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1700-1710_item1/P74.html
   ).

Margarida Resendes (Bride)

   - Died June 19 1776 in Santo Espirito, Santa Maria (

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-O-1759-1793/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-O-1759-1793_item1/P75.html
   )
   - Born July 20 1712 in Santo Espirito (

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1710-1720/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1710-1720_item1/P20.html).
In this baptismal record Margarida's father is listed as Sebastião de
Fontes Chaves. Elswhere he goes by Matias de Fonte Chaves.

Hopefully this is helpfull to those of you who have this couple in your
family tree.

George

Hi Tish,
I agree it is a bit confusing. Have you been able to find the baptismal
record for Margarida de Resendes?

George

P.S. I'm a direct descendant of their daughter Antónia Margarida de

[AZORES-Genealogy] Margarida Resendes and Félix de Resendes Carvalho , Santo Espirito, Santa Maria

2019-04-07 Thread George Sousa
Margarida Resendes and Félix de Resendes Carvalho are my 6X great
grandparents. They were married on May 15, 1731 in Santo Espirito, Santa
Maria (
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-C-1731-1751/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-C-1731-1751_item1/P4.html).

According to this record:

The groom’s parents are Manuel de Sousa de Matos and Margarida de Resendes.
The bride’s parents are Matias de Fonte Chaves and Ana de Resendes.

As far as I can tell this is consistent with RR’s work (Cap.º 34.º §
Primeiro, N.º 7).

However I’m wondering if the priest reversed the names of the parents of
the bride and the groom.

Here is why this may be a possibility. On August 8th 1708 Manuel de Sousa
Matos and Margarida de Resends baptize a daughter with the name of Margrida
(
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1700-1710/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1700-1710_item1/P74.html).
Is this "Margarida" Félix de Resendes Carvalho’s sister or wife?

With so many Margarida’s in the mix it’s a possibility. If so then RR’s
work is wrong. It’s also a possibility that Félix de Resendes Carvalho
married a woman with the same name as his sister. For now I’m going with
this. Some of you have attributed this baptismal record to the bride and
you may want to revisit this. If this is a confusing to you as it is to me
send me an email and I’ll give you what I got.

If you want more continue reading…

On June 19, 1766 Margarida de Resendes (widow of Félix de Resendes) dies at
the age of “setenta… or at least that’s my read). See
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-O-1759-1793/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-O-1759-1793_item1/P75.html.
If so, Margarida (the bride), would have been born around 1696 (not August
8, 1708). If so then my speculation that the priest reversed the names in
the marriage record is probably wrong.

I’m posting in part because some of you have this couple in your MyHeritage
database and some have recorded August 8, 1708 as the birth date of
Margarida the bride. This may be right but it may the birthdate of the
bride’s sister-in-law (also Margarida).

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Boston Churches

2017-05-20 Thread George Sousa
Good eye Cheri... except this is one where family history fills in a couple
of gaps.

The bride that I'm looking for (who is the child in the baptismal record...
Maria) is indeed the daughter of Antonio Andrade Chaves (my great
grandfather) and of Maria Jacintha d'Chaves. Although the father is not
named in the baptismal record, Antonio Andrade Chaves would later legally
register this child as his daughter. In terms of the last name "Rosa"...
this one baffles me a bit... however Maria Jacintha d'Chaves' sister, Anna
Jacintha de Chaves, would also give birth to an illegitimate child and her
child's name as an adult is Antonio Chaves Rosa (and his father's last name
was Moura). I believe "Rosa" was a family nickname. These ladies had a
grandmother by the name of Rosa (who as it turns out had their mother out
of wedlock as well). It's entirely possible that this family nickname came
from this grandmother named Rosa. Clearly where the nickname comes from is
pure speculation on my part... however I'm very confident that "Rosa" is a
nickname and that somehow this nickname became a legal last name.

On a slight tangent... what's with all the children being born out of
wedlock ;)

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Boston Churches

2017-05-20 Thread George Sousa
Thank you Joanne!

This is a bit off topic for this group but does anyone know if it was a
requirement to register the marriage with the local town. I believe the
couple referenced in the side not of this baptismal record is also the same
couple listed in record 5 of
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-63P9-9WD?mode=g=1469062.

Am I on the right track?

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Santo Espirito, Santa Maria - Help with a couple of names

2017-03-27 Thread George Sousa
Thank you everyone!

I'm sure this happens occasionally for those of you have been doing this
for a while... but of late, as I work my way up a certain line, I sometimes
find a connection to a different branch of my family. I believe the
marriage record that I posted in this thread is yet another example.

I thought I would post this for future reference as I'm very confident that
the Groom's parents are Jozeph de Rezendes Carvalho and Maria Leandres
Moura. This couple is part of another family line that I've researched.

In terms of the Bride's parents... I haven't run across this couple before
but I'm confident that it's Manoel da Fontes Chaves and Maria Pacheca. I
will post back to this thread if I find otherwise.

Thanks again to all those that offered help.

George

[AZORES-Genealogy] Santo Espirito, Santa Maria - an unfamiliar last name?

2017-03-20 Thread George Sousa
I would appreciate your help with this. Can anyone make out the last name
of the paternal grandmother of Antonia (last entry on the right)?

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1825-1851/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1825-1851_item1/P245.html

Here is what I have...

It's an unfamiliar last name. If you would like a second place to look at
her name it can be found in the marriage record of the child's parents
(entry on the left page).

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-C-1820-1842/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-C-1820-1842_item1/P86.html

Any help with this name would be greatly appreciated.

George

[AZORES-Genealogy] Name of Child (Santo Espirito, Santa Maria)

2017-03-16 Thread George Sousa
A second set of eyes on this would be greatly appreciated because I'm
having trouble with this child's name:

Here is the Link to her baptism... http://culturacores.
azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1765-1779/SMA-VP-
SANTOESPIRITO-B-1765-1779_item1/P94.html (2nd entry on the left)

As was discussed earlier surviving childhood was a significant challenge
and I believe she died just after turning two. Here is the link to her
obit... http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_
digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-O-1776-1808/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-O-1776-1808_
item1/P4.html (5th entry on the right)

Is her name Ezideria or Izideria... it looks similar to the modern form of
Isadora.

For extra bonus points... this couple has another child about three years
later and they name the child a suspiciously similar name. Here is the link
to the second childs baptism...
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1765-1779/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1765-1779_item1/P147.html

Although it's a similar (or perhaps the same name of the child that has
died) this one baffles me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

George

By the way, I'm a direct descendant of the second child and I have found
many other references to her and it appears that there is no consistent
spelling of the name.

Thanks again...

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Florianno - Vila do Porto, Santa Maria

2017-02-22 Thread George Sousa
Thanks Cheri...
I was having a hard time making out the 'b' but I see it now. It's written
in a similar way to the 'b' in 'baptizado' in the 10th line. So my read is
that he has written 'trabarador', which may be an old form of the
word 'trabalhador'.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Vila do Porto - Santa Maria (Pedro Francisco de Bairos and Anna de Andrade Poim)

2017-02-13 Thread George Sousa
Hi JR,

I am a direct descendant of Anna de Andrade who was born in Vila do Porto
on March 16, 1688 (
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-ASSUNCAO-B-1667-1697/SMA-VP-ASSUNCAO-B-1667-1697_item1/P94.html
).

Anna de Andrade married Mathias de Freitas in Santo Espirito. From what I
can tell the parish records for this time period for Santo Espirito are not
available but I have baptismal records for five of their children (all born
in Santo Espirito).

Anna de Andrade's baptismal record states the following...

"Em dozaseis do mes de marco de mil e seis sentos outenta e outo Baptizeu ?
o Vigario a Anna filha de Pedro de Bairo e de sua mulher Anna de Andrade
forao padrinhos Manuel Gomes filho de Andre Gomes, que Deus tem e madrinha
Francisca de Andrade... era ut Supra"

I believe that the record that I posted earlier (http://culturacores.azores.
gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-ASSUNCAO-C-1649-1681/SMA-
VP-ASSUNCAO-C-1649-1681_item1/P39.html ) is the marriage record of Anna de
Andrade's parents.

My first cut at interpreting this record (which has some damage) is the
following...

"Em Oito do mes de Janeiro de seis sentos e outenta annos Recebi in facie
da Santa Madre Igreja o Pedro Francisco de Bairos filho de (P)edro
Francisco de Bairos e de Sua Mulher ? Magalhaes de ? (ja de)funtos com Anna
de Andrade poim (possibly alpoim) (filha de) Francisco de Andrade de puim e
de sua mulher Maria de andrade de m(el)lo. Forao padrinho pedro de
Bairos..."

I believe the consensus (from those responding to my earlier post) on the
name of the Groom's mother is "Durciana Magalhaes".

JR, do you think I've missed a generation?

George

The Internet is a wonderful place to look stuff up... I take it the RR book
is "Genealogias de São Miguel e Santa Maria" by Rodrigo Rodrigues.

Margaret... I too am a direct descendant of this couple. Slowly I've been

Angela... what is the RR book (it sounds like something that I should learn

2017-02-05 Thread George Sousa
Thanks all...

Now that I re-read the record (having the benefit of all of your thoughts
and input) the record is pretty clear. It's the first of this type that
I've seen and it threw me for a bit of a loop. But that's why we're all
here... to help and to be of help. And a special apology to José Alves
Cabral (the Vice Vigario) for the flippant reference to "Vinho" ;)

Thanks again.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Bernardina filha de ? on February 19th, 1784 - Santo Espirito, Santa Maria

2017-02-05 Thread George Sousa
I may have to file this one in the Cheri Mello "too much vinho" file but I
would appreciate your interpretation of this...

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1779-1792/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1779-1792_item1/P85.html

As far as I can tell the page on the right reads...

Any thoughts on who the parents are? Is it Gonsalo de Andrade and Antonia
Margarida de Chaves?
Who are the grandparents?

Any help and insight is greatly appreciated.

George

[AZORES-Genealogy] Santo Espirito, Santa Maria - An update on Anna and Clara

2017-01-29 Thread George Sousa
Last week a number of you gave me your thoughts and advice on determining
if these two couples...
(1) Manoel Fernades Lordello and Clara Andrade, and
(2) Manoel Fernades Lordello and Anna de Andrade Moira (Moura)
were in fact the same couple or two different couples.

After a bit of sleuthing I've been able to determine that these are two
different couples (with as much certainty as one can have looking at fading
early 18th century documents).

Although I've not been able to find the marriage record of the first couple
(Manoel and Clara), I found baptismal records for six of their children
including what may be their first, Manoel, born on April 4th 1702 (
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1700-1710/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1700-1710_item1/P18.html).
This couple had children in 1704, 1708, 1712, 1715 and 1718.

Couple number 2 (Manoel and Anna) were married (as posted earlier) on
September 29th 1709 in Santo Espirito, Santa Maria (
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-C-1708-1730/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-C-1708-1730_item1/P9.html
)

I found three of their children and they were born in 1710, 1713 and 1716.

Looking at this you can tell that this is not a second marriage for
Manoel... These are two different couples with eerily similar names living
in a tiny village on a tiny rock in the middle of a very big ocean.

Mystery solved...

Thanks all.

George

2017-01-28 Thread George Sousa
Thank you Maria Elena... I would agree and that is the way I interpreted it
as well.
Now I have to figure out if Anna Moira (Moura) aka Ana de Andrade Moira
(Moura) also went by Clara de Andrade or if these are two different women.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Help with Father's Name (Santo Espirito, Santa Maria)

2017-01-27 Thread George Sousa
By the way... with the help of some of your suggestions made to me after my
initial post in this thread I'm almost certain that I've found the marriage
record of the parents of the child.

For those that are interested here is the link.
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-C-1708-1730/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-C-1708-1730_item1/P9.html

The record states in part "...Manoel Fr^z filho de Domingos Cruvello
Lordello e de Breatis (Beatriz) Fernandes ja defunta natural desta
freguesia e Ana de Andrade de Moira (Moura) natural desta
freguesia filha de Costantino Velho e de Francisca de Andrade ja
defuntos..."

Now I have to figure out if Ana de Andrade Moira (Moura) also went by the
name of Clara de Andrade or if the priest had a very creative way of
writing Anna.

Here is the record
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1710-1720/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1710-1720_item1/P63.html.
It's the last entry on the second page.

Do you see Anna or Clara? I'm hopping you see Anna ;)

George

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Help with Father's Name (Santo Espirito, Santa Maria)

2017-01-27 Thread George Sousa
For whatever reason this name (Lordello or Lordelo) is quite common in
Santo Espirito (Santa Maria). I'm not sure how common it is elsewhere in
the Azores. I've not seen that name in Faial da Terra, Sao Miguel. The only
other Azorean parish that I'm researching. I'm curious if that name shows
up in other islands.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Help with Father's Name (Santo Espirito, Santa Maria)

Second Record on the right...

Can anyone make out the father's full name?

I see "Manoel filho de Manoel ? Lordello e de Ana de Moira..."

Could it be "Manoel Fernandes Lordello" or is it "Manoel Figueiredo
Lordello"... or something else?

As always... thank you for your help.

George

A bit of background for those that are interested.

I'm looking for the baptismal record of Manoel Moura Curvello son of Manoel
Fernandes and Ana Moura, The obit record of Manoel Moura Curvello (
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-O-1793-1810/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-O-1793-1810_item1/P4.html)
states he died on June 18, 1793 at the age of 77 (more or less). That make
his date of birth around 1716 (consistent with the above record).

 Victor,

The "cloud" is not free... And while I do agree that on principle it
would make sense, the truth is that the thing that's REALLY expensive on
the cloud is storage. You can get Amazon Web Services to scale easily the
number of servers, but telling that each of those servers would have to be
able to store and replicate several Terabytes of data would probably
consume the budget for the whole archipelago quite fast.

And it doesn't make sense to have several servers all going to the same
storage server wherever they store all those images.

 Things that would make sense:
 1. Allowing Familysearch to serve those images (pros: free, and no work
necessary; cons: nobody would use the CCA servers ever again).
 2. See 1., to be honest.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Santo Espirito, Santa Maria - Francisca filha de Joam de Moura and Laurencia Roza

2016-12-26 Thread George Sousa
Thank you Theresa and Margaret!

Margaret, in terms of the name '*Joam*'... I understand that it is an
antiquated spelling of the modern form João. I've gotten in the habit of
recording the names by the spelling used by the priest. You've got me
thinking that I should switch to recording the modern spelling. I'm
curious what you (and others do).

Thanks again for your help,

George

[AZORES-Genealogy] Santo Espirito, Santa Maria - Francisca filha de Joam de Moura and Laurencia Roza

2016-12-26 Thread George Sousa
Baptismal record

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1779-1792/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1779-1792_item1/P117.html

(left page)

I could use another set of eyes on this record.

1. I think this is the Baptismal record of Francisca (although it could be
Francisco). Anyone else see this differently?
2. Can anyone make out the last name of the paternal grandfather and
grandmother?
3. What about the name of the maternal grandfather?
4. What is the last name of the child's godfather? Is it Braga? or Braganca?

Thanks for your help.

George

What follows is my read of the record

Father: Joam de Moura (from Santo Espirito, Santa Maria)
Mother:* Laurência Roza* (from Santo Espirito, Santa Maria)

Paternal Grandfather: *Joam de Santos*? (or is it *Fontes*) and a last name
that I can't make out
Paternal Grandmother: *Maria da Margarida* (possibly *Fontes*)

Both paternal grandparents were baptized in Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora
da Assunção (Vila do Porto, Santa Maria)

Maternal Grandfather: *Manoel de Souza*? (I'm having trouble making out his
last name)
Maternal Grandmother: *Anna do Rozario*... she is deceased.

Both maternal grandparents are native to Santo Espirito, Santa Maria

The child was born on the 25th of January 1787 and baptized March 6, 1787

Godfather: *Gonçalo de Braga? or Braganca* (son of the same *Manoel de
Souza*? and *Anna do Rozario*)

Hi JR,

I believe I got the right marriage date. Here is the link to the marriage
of António Teixeira de Medeiros and Florinda Pacheco.

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-ND-SAOJORGE-C-1872-1876/SMG-ND-SAOJORGE-C-1872-1876_item1/P30.html

It's listed as No 2 at the bottom right.

Margaret,

Thanks for the suggestion that this may be linked to an inheritance. I will
look through the obits.

I would appreciate your help trying to decipher the side note of Antonio's
baptismal record. In other words... what does it say and what does it mean?
I noticed that the same note appears on his wife's baptismal record as well

Here is a link to Antonio's...

and here is a link to his wife's (Florinda)...

[AZORES-Genealogy] Help with the names of the parents of Antonio

2016-11-05 Thread George Sousa
No 14 - Antonio

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-PV-FAIALDATERRA-B-1870-1879/SMG-PV-FAIALDATERRA-B-1870-1879_item1/P67.html

I'm having a bit of trouble making out the last name of the child's father.
I think the name is Francisco Soares Louro but I can't be certain. The
first name of the child's mother is also difficult to make out. Could it be
Maria de Sousa?

Any help deciphering the names would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

George

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Would appreciate some help from the Pros on what to do when you see "de avos ocultos"

2016-09-25 Thread George Sousa
Thank you Cheri. As I suspected the only way to proceed is to use DNA.
Alexandrina da Assunção has four grandchildren that are still with us (two
males and two females) and numerous Great Grandchildren and their
offspring. Who would you recommend be tested and what type of test would
you suggest?

As a bit of an aside, after posting this question I've continued looking
for any Alexandrina born in Santa Maria between 1860 and 1870 who was an
'exposta'. Alexandrina is not a very common name and I have found only
one... baptized on March 17th 1862 in Villa do Porto. The link to the
record is
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-ASSUNCAO-B-1860-1864/SMA-VP-ASSUNCAO-B-1860-1864_item1/P88.html.
In this record she is described as "uma crianca do sexo femenino a que dei

Of course there is no way to know from this information that this is the
woman that I'm looking for but now I'm curious to know from others if you
have found orphans who were given a second name based on the name of the
church in which they were baptized. If this is a common practice then
Alexandrina da Assunção may have gotten her second name from "Nossa Senhora
da Assunção", the church in which she was baptized. Again, I know that none
of this proves that this is the lady that I'm looking for but I'm inclined
to think there is a high likelihood that this is her...

Thanks,

George

[AZORES-Genealogy] Would appreciate some help from the Pros on what to do when you see "de avos ocultos"

2016-09-05 Thread George Sousa
Researching one of my ancestors Raulino Jose de Souza (b. 1889 Santo
Espirito, Santa Maria). I've located his baptismal record (see the
following Centro de Conhecimento links):

First page:
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1885-1889/SMA-VP-SANTOESPIRITO-B-1885-1889_item1/P128.html

and second page:

I believe this is what the document states:

"No. 35 Raulino

freguesia neta [I think this should read neto] paterna e materna d’avos
ocultos.

>From my read of this it appears that Raulino's grandparents are not known.
His mother's name is given as Alexhandrina da Assunção. Is there a clue in
the name? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A couple of additional notes from family stories. Raulino's baptismal
godmother (Maria de Braga) is said to have been Alexandrina's aunt.
Raulino's father is said to have been named Raulino Jose de Sousa. The
family story is that Raulino's father was a cattle merchant from Sao Miguel.

Again any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

George

[AZORES-Genealogy] Bernardino? Lordello - April 28 1857 Santo Espirito, Santa Maria Azores.

2015-10-02 Thread George Sousa
A second set of eyes on the first name of the fourth and final entry on
this page (link below) would be greatly appreciated.

I think the child's name is Bernardino.

Thank you in advance...

George

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] António de Sousa Dourado son of José de Sousa Dourado

2013-03-04 Thread George Sousa
Hi Eliseu!

I'm new to the group (and I'm sorry if this post is improperly constructed).

I notice that you have family in Sao Miguel and that you
have ancestors with the SOUSA family name. Do you know anything about a
RAULINO SOUSA (possibly Raulino Jose de Sousa)? He is my great-grandfather
and the only thing I know about him is that he was a cattle merchant from
Sao Miguel.

regards,

George Sousa

 Hi Dano!

Is your António de Sousa Dourado maried to Vitória Felícia? Was he born
about 1798 in Porto Formoso and married in Ponta Garça in 12 Jul 1824?
If so they are my relatives.

Do you mind to change information?
