when my great grandmother was living in the United States, her mother died

The church is Nossa Senhora da Apresentação. You can find a list of
freguesias (villages) and their churches on the Azores GenWeb. Here they

Generally, those who live outside the Azores only translate the word Açores
to Azores. Some leave it as Açores. However, once we are researching there,
we leave the island, freguesia, and church in its native language. So we

church is Our Lady of the Presentations sounds like you are going to do a
Power Point! :)

grandmother’s birth certificate. She was born in Sao Miguel, Capela, 
Azores. I am searching for information on her, her parents and her family.
