BBEdit worksheets are an attempt to mimic Apple's MPW of old. If you use a
worksheet with tcsh specified you get a much closer approximation than with
bash. The MPW commands were really based on csh but spelled differently.

But then, dammit, I can no longer just execute a BBedit text document the way I
do with real MPW on this OS 9 box.

And, if you want to view a man file do it in a BBEdit worksheet. No paging
problems there.

Or, there is a nifty app for viewing man pages in Safari:

Re: Mac OS X Command-Line List? What about Perl?

2011-02-07 Thread Keith
Mac OS X 10.4 above has BASH and you can see all the commands in the
terminal by tapping TAB key twice. For help with a command type
man commandname

For example:
man tar
To read the instructions for the tar command.
Many Linux pages also list commands available in the BASH shell since Mac OS
X runs on top of UNIX Linux uses the same programs with them complied for
Linux.

For Perl there are numerous books or you can go to a perl web site to get a
list of commands.

I think he meant a discussion list.
IRC is good too; #perl on freenode.net is nice. :-)

Not to mention that you wouldn't want to subscribe to the Bourne Again Shell
user list if you're a tcsh user. And of course all sensible people use ZSH
anyway.

Yeah, but how many tcsh users are there?
