Is this any different from the last RC ? I added binaries for Perl 5.18 on i386 Linux. But for those who were running 7.8 before it should be identical. The git history does list more changes, but they resulted from my back-porting select 7.8 changes to 7.7, then merging 7.7 to 7.8 again to synch up. Just wondering ... Is there some point at which Logitech should be removed from the name of the community server? Or would they prefer it remain, as long as you're working on it on company time? A question though is an upgrade on Ubuntu using dpkg likely to behave any differently to a fresh install? I'm not sure about the dpkg specifics. But I'd assume it would just run the update and continue where you left - with the updated code. Prefs should be used as before, even the cache (depending on what version you came from). 0.02$ make the 5.18 perl support really solid both 64 bit and 32 bit . Do LMS come with both 32 and 64 bit binaries yet ? Flac/faad/sox etc ? So that no one has to install 32bit combatibily packs ,typically for Ubuntu and Debian ? It would be weird if the perl stuff is for 64 bit and the binaries are really 32 bit ? No new bugs in the latest weeks , but there are some unresolved old ones , swat some of those . Make sure all supported online services actually work ? Live Music Archive for example , it's one of those very seldom used plugins in my case ,so it's usually broken when I try . What's the current status ? Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Help us achieve an official 7.8.0 community release
make the 5.18 perl support really solid both 64 bit and 32 bit . Do LMS come with both 32 and 64 bit binaries yet ? Flac/faad/sox etc ? So that no one has to install 32bit combatibily packs ,typically for Ubuntu and Debian ? Sounds like a great plan - post 7.8.0. The idea is to have a 7.8.0 based on today's code out soon. Only bug-fixes, no more features. Adding all those binaries will require a lot of work. Too much to not turn 7.8.0 into eternal beta mode again. No new bugs in the latest weeks , but there are some unresolved old ones , swat some of tho Bug number? Make sure all supported online services actually work ? Live Music Archive for example , it's one of those very seldom used plugins in my case ,so it's usually broken when I try . What's the current status ? That's not a 7.8 issue, but a mysb.com problem. IIRC the cron job we had in place to update the data doesn't work any more. I don't remember the details, but it's some massive XML file import which fails at some point. Bugs , I don't know what to prioritise as my own use case I s pretty well served . How did/do you prioritise ? If it's bugging me, I fix it :-). I usually try to understand what issue is faced by how many users. Or if it's really a trivial change. Unfortunately there are issues seen and reported very often, and I still haven't any clue about how to fix it (eg. name resolutions issues). If resources are scarce , is any of the work done by the CSOS team possible to leverage , to fix a bug or add a feature maybe that's something . There has been some exchange. Eg. some of the perl 5.18 specific changes, or inclusion of the loc protocol handler needed for hires playback. I still feel there's no big lingering problem. I'll prepare the build host for this particular .0 release. Development won't stop here. -- Michael ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Help us achieve an official 7.8.0 community release
My current LMS is a Pi running raspian. When I switched to 7.8 nightlies, I started seeing constant rebuffering when playing AAC Did you check CPU load? streams via tunein. I haven't had time to investigate other than to try switching to the allthingspi copy of faad, which solved the problem. I Optimized assembler code somewhere or something? don't know what's different about their faad, but it is much smaller. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Help us achieve an official 7.8.0 community release
Just in case it's useful, I use 7.8 every day with good results. While I haven't specifically been validating against bugs.slimdevices.com, I make heavy use of the following plugins: CustomBrowse, CustomScan, SQL Playlists, Dynamic Playlists, Music Artist Information, Multi Library, Database Query, YouTube, and Trackstat. I install from the readyNas x86 package. I am pleased to say everything has run smoothly, and I have not noticed anything that is not production-ready. I've tried a few different players and albums with latest Windows build (7.8.0 - 1391769631) and found that I can no longer seek to the middle of a FLAC track. When I click within the webGUI progress bar, the track just starts over. Can anyone confirm? Thanks. It's an AMX control systems language called Netlinx, sort of C ish. Converting all my code to json/rpc doesn't sound like fun at all, 1st learning the language and then hundreds of hours of writing and testing for something that's no longer supported in the first place doesn't seem practical, not that I'm practical but it gets tiring writing code and drivers for devices one day that diasappear the next. 7.8.0 was bundled with the vortexbox 2.3 beta distro which I loaded on my VBA to see how well Shairtunes worked on it and of course that worked perfect but now my apps and radios don't work. I can always roll back and just use an airport express for airplay if needed. vining's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37132 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100898 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Help us achieve an official 7.8.0 community release
Thanks a lot Erland! Basically if someone has run some tests post some brief information about which areas you have tested and if it worked or if you found some critical bugs. It's probably a bit odd if I report what I've been testing, as it'll obviously be the stuff I've been working on :-). But somebody has to start. I guess one part which I've been working on a lot is the new LMS own image proxy. Most of my plugins (in particular the Music and Artist Info plugin) make heavy use of it. The TuneIn artwork is using it by default as well. I decided to do this to give it some real world testing by all users. Thus I'd say it's working pretty well. Another area is the new changed artwork scan. I'm currently going through my artwork (I still have album covers 150px)... If you find some critical bug register it at http://bugs.slimdevices.com and post a link to the registered bug in this thread so the rest of us know that it has already been registered and can confirm if we also see the same problem or not. Please don't forget to CC michael ät slimdevices dott com on your bug reports. That way I'll get copied. We know there are are a lot of minor bugs in the system, so let's focus the effort on finding critical ones which you feel have to be fixed to be able to release 7.8.0 as an official community release. I'd like to add regressions. These might be minor issues, but we shouldn't break things that worked in 7.7. All registered open bugs on Logitech Media Server product during 2014 can be found using the following query: ... great links, thanks! -- Michael ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
