You can visit the laptop's manufacturer's site for the graphics drivers. However, in the mean time, consider using an external sound card: if the operating system you installed is WinXP or higher, you will get sound from that card. Just make sure you have either headphones or speakers to plug into the sound card. I think there are many out there, but personally I use USB 3D Sound PC, Model HY554. About cost, I think there in your country it may be cheaper but here in Zimbabwe it costs less than $4 (and prices differ from vendor to vendor). Carlos, Not sure on the NLS player but if I remember correctly, with my Victor Stream I needed to visit their site and register the unit with them as my preferred device for listening and then I got some type of a key I needed to install on the SD card in the stream. Been a while so above may not be exact but may head you in the right direction. [Blind-Computing] Problems With Buy.com Site
Hi listers. I am having problems with the Buy.com shopping site that I have not encountered with any other shopping site. I am using JAWS 9 with IE 8 and when I try to activate certain links such as the Sign Up, Track My Order, My Account or other links that require the entry of personal information, JAWS goes silent and the page does not load. Not even the progress bar announcements are spoken; it is as if activating one of these links causes JAWS or IE to hang. Because of this, I cannot create an online account, and must instead place orders by phone. Has anyone else experienced problems with Buy.com? If you can live without some of the visual bells and whistles, you can regain a bit of lost performance. Dig into Start, Control Panel, System And Security, System, and Advanced System Settings. Click the Settings button in the Performance section. In the Performance Options pop-up window, you'll see a long list of visual elements and effects within Windows 7, most of which are enabled by default as part of the Let Windows Choose What's Best For My Computer option. I think if you go to the audible site it gives a list of the players that are usable. I am sure the digital players are not on that list. You can put the books on the olimpus recorders. The built-in Windows Media Player can play videos just fine. You just browse to the DVD and Open it if your computer does not automatically handle this as an autoplay feature. Hi Jim; I am not Rick, but here is the quick way to convert a YOuTube link into an MP3 file. 1. Copy and paste the link you want to convert to the clipboard. 2. Go to your desktop and press enter on the FreeYouTubeToMP3Converter.exe. 3. With the converter open, tab 1 time and Jaws will say paste button. Press your spacebar and the link you had pasted to your clipboard earlier will be pasted into the converter. 4. Tab 1 more time and Jaws will read Output Folder. Pay attention to this because this is where you will find the link after it is finished being converted. 5. Tab 1 more time to Browse . Here you can browse to have the converted links place into a different folder when they are finished. 6. The next tab brings you to Output Name. Don't worry about this. The finished converted download will usually put the name of the song in for you. 7. Tab 1 more time and you are on Presets combobox. Here you will arrow up or down to choose what format you want the link converted into. You can convert the link into different formats to see which 1 sounds the best to you. I will explain how to do this later. 8. Tab 1 more time and you are on Options. You can press the spacebar on this to look and see what is in here to get more familiar with the program. Personally, I haven't changed anything in here. 9. Tab 1 more time and this is the Convert Button. Press the spacebar and the conversion will start. The link will be converted into what ever format you had selected in the Presets Combobox. 10. Jaws will tell you the percentages as the file is being converted. When it is finished you will hear Information Okay button. Press the spacebar. Then you will Hear Button okay and you will spacebar on this to finish. Well here goes the old college try as the saying is phrased. A rich text file does contain a small amount of formatting like a full blown word processor IE highlights ETC. A simple text file contains nothing of the kind at all. Hi all, I solved my problem in trying to use the free youtube MP3 converter. It works and is great. For those of you who haven't tried it yet, it works well and is easy to operate. Rich text files retain much of the formatting from other formats. For example, if you change a Word document into RTF, you will have your tabs, fonts, formatting intact. Boldl will still be bold, italic will still be italic. A plain text file will remove almost all the formatting in a document, leaving you with just the text. The advantage of a Rich Text file is that it can be easily opened in various word processors. That's why we, at Optasia Ministry, put most of our files into RTF format, to make sure our users can open them no matter what computer or word processor they are using. I convert a document to plain text sometimes if I want to remove all the formatting, which in a limited number of situations, has some value. You don't need to delete anything; when you press ctrl+l the text is all selected so once you start typing the new address the old text is replaced by that. Hi Jacob; I have been trying to download the Adobe Flashplayer since last Monday. No matter what website I tried, the downloads all work the same. When you click on the Run option a screen appears that Jaws will not read. I had to have a sighted person install the Flashplayer at both homes on 3 different computers because I couldn't get Jaws to work no matter what cursor I tried or how it was routed. What comes up when you click on the Run option is a screen that you have to click on a box agreeing to their terms and another box to install and as I stated earlier Jaws won't read any of it. If anyone has a fix for this I certainly wish they would post it! I ran into the same problem trying to use the website you have provided. Take care. Well, I went in and the 14th book wasn't on the drive, but I found it when I put the drive into the computer. I looked in the folder and not all of its files had downloaded. Hi David; I did all that and when I chose to run/install the program I would get the screen that Jaws wouldn't read. I tried saving the downloads and when I tried to install them from my C drive the same thing happened, getting the screen that Jaws wouldn't read. I had my wife look at the monitor today and sure enough there are buttons that Jaws wouldn't read so, she clicked on them and the downloads went fine. To my knowledge all my settings in IE8 are okay and nothing was stopping the program from being installed except for the fact that I couldn't click on the correct buttons because Jaws wouldn't read them. This same set of circumstances happened at the other house, needing someone sighted to install the Flashplayer. Thank you very much for your response. Oh, by the way, were you able to install the Flashplayer? If so, would you suggest some settings that I should look at and where I should look? Thanks again, take care. Hi Julio; Okay, instead of pasting the link below, try clicking on it instead. When the song starts playing, press your F6 key and copy the text that is there. Now press Alt + F4 to close. Open the Free YouTube converter and paste what you copied into the field that says paste press spacebar.
