Re: [Blind-Computing] Outlook Express

2013-05-20 Thread inthaneelf
most often if you go into the file menu and utilize the create new account
option and reenter your old email information under a new (slightly
different) user name you can retrieve your old saved emails, and keep using
the same l9oad up of O.E. from that point on.

there are two applications available from:
www.jfwlite.com/programs

that are useful in retrieving and reworking email accounts in OE, they are
1. ebackup which backups and restores (or reinstalls) your oe with most of
its settings except for passwords and your signatures (those will be listed
but blank so will need to be redone and reinstalled)
and 2. dbExtract which is used to retrieve saved emails even if there in a
save file or moved to another spot or the oe client has gone sour

if you need help with either of these just let me know

so ok then, where do you go and delete all info? I went to tools/accounts

I had only one email account for that pc. Hmmm, wonder if the service tecks
when they upgraded my cable and internet and phone could have done something

somewhere? I used only IE but for browsing not for emails.
Their modem has been returned. So shouldn't the desktop be free of any of
their settings, I did not install any of their proprietary software ever.

In fact, if I forgot and accidently opened OE on the desktop, it always
popped up to install an account. I didn't remove the OE software since
knowing she wanted to use it for her email client, just like I said, I
removed the email account.

So, for over a year now, I have used my laptop and window's mail for win/7.
I stopped using OE and in fact deleted my account from it.
Now my sister puts in her email info password stuff, but when she sends an
email, it shows my old one instead of hers, that is just the craziest thing
I've ever heard.
We both had used and she still uses, TX.rr.com so they have checked and
changed the settings as well as the idenity and have added her's, but when
they do, then all her emails vanish.
So, like can yall shed some light here what needs to be done to allow her
email settings to work?

Thanks,

Re: [Blind-Computing] Outlook Express Idenity

2013-03-27 Thread Trish
no sir, I deleted all of that when I got my laptop. I had not been using OE
for almost 2 years now.

The they is time warner cable, who checked the identity and added her
identity, but still shows mine. So apparently just deleting my account from
OE and using it on win/7 could that have any baring?
Could it be a hidden kind of setting somewhere in OE or maybe in IE8?

She works from home a lot, so in sending out an email work related, people
are telling her, it's my email address they see not hers, is that not wild?

I keep trying to encourage her to just use her LP which has win-7 on it
instead. I guess this was one of those times needed to wipe the hard drive,
but that is just something I've never done and I know my sister sure
clueless.
She can receive emails from anyone, but just when she sends, it's really
me,lol.

I cleaned that pc up as much as my knowledge would allow, I never dreamed
something like this would be a problem.

But it's probably some other identity issue since I owned it and had it all
setup in my name, I need to give her the pink slip owners registration, tee
hee.

accounts. I'll try to resolve this but like I said more information is
needed.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Outlook Express Idenity

I have a question regarding OE settings. I recently gave my sister my xp
desktop, which I had used OE on it.

Thanks,

Trish

so ok then, where do you go and delete all info? I went to tools/accounts
and removed my info from OE, is it showing somewhere else?
I had only one email account for that pc. Hmmm, wonder if the service tecks
when they upgraded my cable and internet and phone could have done something
somewhere? I used only IE but for browsing not for emails.
Their modem has been returned. So shouldn't the desktop be free of any of
their settings, I did not install any of their proprietary software ever.

In fact, if I forgot and accidently opened OE on the desktop, it always
popped up to install an account. I didn't remove the OE software since
knowing she wanted to use it for her email client, just like I said, I
removed the email account.

You should hit the yes button when prompted with the dialog box. The
contacts in your outlook express are all I think vcf file format. When you
attempt to open a file with that extension windows searches for an
associated program for that file.

Nothing to be alarmed about this prompt.

Re: [Blind-Computing] outlook express

2012-05-23 Thread Mike B.
Hi Anna,

You need to widen your columns in the view menu. To do this, do the
following;

1. While in Outlook Express, press, Alt + V, for the view menu.
2. Arrow down to Columns and press enter or just press the letter C .
3. Arrow down to Subject and with Subject highlighted press the
keystroke alt + W. You will get a message stating how many pixels wide your
subject line is currently set for. Back space this number out and type 400
or 425. I currently have mine set at 430. This will widen your subject
line so more text will fit. After you type in your desired number of
pixels tab to okay and press enter. Also, you can press the alt + W
keystroke with any of these columns when they are highlighted to widen them.
Hope
this helps. Take care.
Mike

Hello there;

these steps should take care of your addressbook contacts.

To export Outlook Express address book to a comma separated value (csv)
file.
open Outlook express,

1. Go to the file menu with alt+f.

2. Press the letter E=export.

3, Press enter on address book.

4, An export tool dialog will begin, you will have a list-view with text
file
(comma separated value) in the list. Press space bar to select it.

5, Tab to export-button and press enter.

6, Your being asked what you want to save the exported file as, type in a
file name with an extension of csv, for example; addressbook.csv
Tab and hit enter on next button.
You will be in an csv export dialog where it wants to know what fields you
want.
They will all already be selected, so just tab to the finish button and hit
enter.
It will tell you it has been exported, hit enter on okay.
Hit enter on the close button.

now, your addressbook will be saved in your documents.

you now need to import your contacts into MSOutlook2007.

if you need more help please let me no.

Hi Yvonne,

Have you tried tabbing when you hear, Tasks Tab? I'm only guessing but,
your ISP may be having some problems when you press the F5 key your
computer is having problems retrieving new email because of some kind of
Internet interruption. Like I say, this is only a guess. I've had similar
problems when we've had Internet interruptions. One thing you might try is
look in your Outbox to see if there are any unsent messages in there. If
there are unsent messages, you have had Internet problems. Take care.

Hi Janie,

This is how I send an email to multiple people using the BCC field.

1. Open a new email.

2. Press Alt + T, for tools, press R, for recipients, tab 3 times to the
address book list.

3. Arrow down or, use first letter navigation, through the list and for each
person you want to send this email to, press the keystroke, Alt + B, on each
name you want to send the email to.

4. When you have entered all the names you need, tab several times to the
BCC list arrow down to see if you got everybody. If you have included
everybody
you want, tab to the Okay button and press enter.

5. Now, tab to the subject field, enter your subject, tab to the edit field,
put in your message, send as usual.

If you want to use the To or CC field instead, do steps 1 2 but,
on each name you want to enter press Alt + T, or Alt + C, for the To CC
fields
respectively. Then tab to the To or CC list, checkthe names, tab to Okay,
press enter. Then follow step 5 from above.

Hope this helps. Take care.

Cool.

That's why I generally try use things like autosizer to just make sure
things like this don't happen - although it's still not perfect, and

hello
for some time now i have had this problem of whenever i restart the
computer and go to outlook express, when i press f5 i get the following
message hide
other times i get the message
the requested tasks were completed successfully
this is the message i should get all the time i press f5 to check for
new messages.
my internet supplier can shed no light on the subject.
and after a long time the correct message will appear and will stay
there each time i press f5 until i restart the computer and load outlook
express.
i am wondering if this could be an outlook express issue rather than a
fault with my computer or my i s p.
is it possible to repair outlook express?
or even re install it?
i am using internet explorer 8 with the last known version of outlook
express

and of course jaws 10

another thing is from time to time my i s p will drop connection BT have
run a copper line test and that comes back as fine he did say that
background noise was there somewhere but no idea from what or where.

i moved the router away from the speaker as this could be one reason for
dropping of service but i wonder if this is internet explorer 8?
thank you
Yvonne

[Blind-Computing] Outlook Express Sent folder

2011-01-18 Thread Mike Barbara In Arcadia
Hi All;

My wife uses a laptop running XP Pro, IE8, outlook Express. When she
sends an email to let's say, 6 people, puts all recipients in the, To ,
field, then when she goes to her sent folder to make sure that the email was
sent, the email will only show the first 2 recipients. Now, Jaws will read
all 6 recipients but, visually, there are only the first 2 showing. Is
there a setting that we can change so that all recipients will show
visually? I have checked her column width it is 155 pixels wide. This
seems wide enough to show more than 2 names, so I haven't changed the
setting. All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much. Take care.

[Blind-Computing] outlook express and system tray

2011-01-13 Thread yvonne oliver
hello
i wonder if someone can assist with these

1 system tray does not say internet connected and local area connected and
tell me the speed.
it did yesterday but not today.

2 occasionally the insert key won't respond if i press insert f12 it just says
f12.

after restarting the computer it will say f12.

3 how do i remove items from the system tray?.

for example i do not use windows messenger and it is in the system tray it's in
there twice in fact.

when i start the computer jaws says windows messenger not signed in and then
says windows messenger is running in the background.

is there a way of disabling this so that jaws does not say running in the
background or not signed in and also to prevent it from automatically starting
when i start or restart the computer?.

4 when i start the computer and press the start key i get a bleep and every key
i press jaws says the word windows key in front of it
how can i stop this?
i note that sticky keys is mentioned when i press insert f11
thank you
Yvonne

 HI Yvonne;

As far as the widths of the boxes go, my guess is that Microsoft
figures
that you only need to see XAmount of information per box. That is why
  you
have the option to make them wider if you need to do so.

In the Columns option of the view menu the things that you check will
  show
up as fields / headers in an email. For example; I only have the
attachments, From, Subject , Received options checked because that
is
 all
I want to see in the email fields. If i had the To, Sent, Size
items
checked, then an email would show who I sent the email to, what time I
 sent
it, the size of the email. Those are 3 things I don't need to have
 shown
to me. You can experiment with checking unchecking the different
  items
just to see which way you prefer your emails to look. Hope this
helps.
 Take care.

   Hi Yvonne;

Which 4 items do you have checked when you look at the list of items
checked, in which order do they appear? What I mean is, which is 1st or
   at
the top of the list, which is 2nd, 3rd so forth? Take care.

i have done the same as you and only checked 4 items
however for some reason in my inbox some emails show the name of the
person/company for instance t a f n then the remainder of the message.
then when i open it i read the message
and some only have what is mentioned in the subject box and not from
the
person or company who sent it
did use to say from the person/company before i made those adjustments
using the check/uncheck method
any idea how i can get it back to how it was?
thank youYvonne

 HI Yvonne;

As far as the widths of the boxes go, my guess is that Microsoft
   figures
that you only need to see XAmount of information per box. That is
why
   you
have the option to make them wider if you need to do so.

In the Columns option of the view menu the things that you check will
   show
up as fields / headers in an email. For example; I only have the
attachments, From, Subject , Received options checked because that
is
 all
I want to see in the email fields. If i had the To, Sent, Size
items
checked, then an email would show who I sent the email to, what time
I
 sent
it, the size of the email. Those are 3 things I don't need to have
 shown
to me. You can experiment with checking unchecking the different
   items
just to see which way you prefer your emails to look. Hope this
helps.
 Take care.

   Hi Yvonne;

   To shorten the width of your subject line do the following;
   1. Press Alt + V, for the view menu.
   2. Arrow down to columns press enter, or just press the letter
C,
 after
   pressing Alt + V.
   3. Arrow down to Subject, now tab down to pixels wide, use
   your
backspace key to backspace this number out, after clearing this
   number
   type
in 400, this is what I keep my subject line at, now tab to okay

 press
   enter.

any idea how i can get it back to how it was?

  HI Yvonne;

As far as the widths of the boxes go, my guess is that Microsoft
figures
that you only need to see XAmount of information per box. That
is

  why
you
have the option to make them wider if you need to do so.

In the Columns option of the view menu the things that you check
  will
show
up as fields / headers in an email. For example; I only have the
attachments, From, Subject , Received options checked because
that
  is
  all
I want to see in the email fields. If i had the To, Sent, Size
  items
checked, then an email would show who I sent the email to, what
time
  I
  sent
it, the size of the email. Those are 3 things I don't need to
  have
  shown
to me. You can experiment with checking unchecking the
different
items
just to see which way you prefer your emails to look. Hope this
  helps.
  Take care.

Re: [Blind-Computing] outlook express help

2010-10-05 Thread Jacob Kruger

Account details, lots of old email messages, contact information?

Simplest one that's meant to (but doesn't always)work is the settings
transfer wizard: Start menu, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Files and
Settings Transfer Wizard, and it just asks you if this is the target, or
source machine, how you want to transfer the info, etc., but I've had it
bomb out on me a few times, but not always, and, for example, I think you'd
still need to provide email account passwords the first time you tried a
send/receive on the new machine.

What I generally do is export messages to outlook 2003, copy it's data files
over to new machine and import them back into outlook express, but I
manually create my own email accounts, and use the windows address book,
file menu, save as, to copy contacts across, and, this is generally just a
process I use as a form of backup as well.

Stay well

understood. I had no problems conducting spell checks within word 2007 just
in OE. Can someone help me to understand why OE was not recognizing the
spell checker in word 2007. It was only recognizing French. Unfortunately my
southern roots do not translate French very well.

Then you must not have a version of office installed. No matter I have at
least 2 free Outlook Express spell checking programs on the server free
to

download.

Go to tools and options. Control tab until you land on the spelling tab.
From there everything should be self explanatory.

You have word installed? Think that's where it gets it's spell
checking

capabilities from.
That's what I had to install to get mine at least.

Go to the programs page and search for the word spell. Like Mike pointed out
earlier there are 3 free spell checking programs up there.
