Subject: cfchart's piechart legend: formating the text

Anyone know how to mask or format the piechart legend's text generated by
cfchart? Cfchart generates a lengthy labelname value(percentage%)
format. I wanted to eliminate the value or percentage from showing when it
looks redundant. Currently on MX6.1 Thanks!

  I'm modifying blogCFC to replace it's forms with flash forms. I'm also
  adding in a security stamp to make sure that the form post is from the

 user
  has no clue what form fields are being used, what data is hidden in the
 form

  will greatly help that) but to skip the annoyance of form spam is worth
 it.
  You can see an example of it on www.blogoffusion.com when you try to post

  Bottom line is that flash forms beats form spam.

RE: Exception handling with Alagad Image Component

2006-06-28 Thread Peterson, Chris
Ken,

Just make sure you are catching right from the time you instantiate the
image.cfc object up until the time you write the image and clear the
object.

Ie, Do this:

cftry

  CFOBJECT component=Image name=myImage /
  cfset myImage = CreateObject('Component', 'Image').setKey('whatever')
/

  CFSET myImage.readImage(c:\image.gif) /

  CFSET myImage.Rotate(#URL.Angle#) /

  CFSET myImage.writeImage(c:\imageRotated.gif, gif) /

cfcatch type=any
 Oops, no image for you!
/cfcatch

/cftry

Hi. This question is for people who have successfully used the Alagad
Image Component. Can anyone tell me how to handle ReadImage and
WriteImage Errors, especially if you installed the JAI libraries, and
are now trying to process a non-conventional image format, like a tif
file?
I tried using cftry and cfcatch, but it somehow escapes the error
catching, and displays the error in the debug in info as such:
Exceptions

Can someone help please.

CFX_CHECK_EMAIL (CFX setup in CF5)

I hope the cavalry can save me here

System info: Win2003 server w/IIS

Trying to get CFS to run on this installation of CF5 but keep getting
error TagCFX::execute

CFX tag is registered as
Tag Name: CFX_CHECK_EMAIL
Class Name: D:\CFusion\cfx\CFX_CHECK_EMAIL.DLL

JVM settings as follows:
Java Virtual Machine Path: D:\CFusion\Java\jvm.dll
Class Path: D:\CFusion\Java\classes
CFX Jar Path: D:\CFusion\Java\classes

What am I missing here?
I also tried using jvm.dll in ~/jre/bin/hotspot
And
Java\jre1.5.0_07\bin\client\jvm.dll but am unsure as far as how to setup
class path and CFX Jar path for 1.5.07

I have seen other setups
Where JVM is j2re1.4.0\bin\client\jvm.dll and class path and CFX jar
path as C:\CFusion\Java\classes work just fine.

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Thanks

cfscript
function ip2number( sIp )
{
  IPArray = listToArray( sIp, . );
  return  ( IPArray[1] * ( 256 )^3 ) +
  ( IPArray[2] * ( 256 )^2 ) +
  ( IPArray[3] * 256 ) +
IPArray[4];
}
/cfscript

Google Adwords API

2006-06-28 Thread Luke Freeman
Hi, does anyone have any information on how to get Coldfusion talking to the
google Adwords system? I have looked across the net but there seems to be
very little if any reference to Coldfusion working along side this. Has this
been done before? are there any custom tags out there? I dont know where to
start with this so any help would be great!

thanks - luke

 I'm using CF MX 6.1 but will be upgrading to Dreamweaver 8. Can I make
 the tag insight in Dreamweaver only show MX 6.1 tags?

As far as I know, this functionality isn't available out of the box.
What you may try to do is to save the VTML files from your current version
of DW, then use them to replace the ones that ship with DW 8.

The VTML files are stored inside:
Configuration\TagLibraries\CFML

Do this at your own risk and backup everything first :-)

Flex is really just for front-end stuff. It still needs a back-end

applications. I think we'll start to see some pretty cool website stuff too
though.

Use this

It's a UDF for storing IP address as numbers instead of as strings. This

RE: Query Ip address

2006-06-28 Thread Ben Nadel
The best way would probably be to store the IP addresses as numbers and then
do number comparison:

http://www.cflib.org/udf.cfm?ID=946

If that is not an option, you could try a wild card search:

SELECT
*
FROM
ip_address
WHERE
ip LIKE '123.456.___.003'

This would find all IP address with matching 1st, 2nd, and 4th quadrants
(leaving the thirst as a wild card). But you can't be sure of the length...
Maybe something like:

SELECT
*
FROM
ip_address
WHERE
ip LIKE '123.456.%'
AND
ip LIKE '%.003'

This would break the Ips up and not have to worry that the third quadrant is
1, 2, or 3 digits.

Does that help at all?

Re: is URL a structure, or not?

2006-06-28 Thread Bill Woodland
When we have ran into this on upgrades what we ended up doing was prefixing
the columns being outputted with the query name. Something like cfoutput
query=blah#Blah.URL#/cfquery

On 6/27/06, Bill Woodland [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

True, Aaron, using fully qualified names (FQN) of blah.url would work for
outputting the field contents, but in this case, I was using the isdefined

failed, too, even though I gave it the name of the structure to check. That
function should ONLY look at structures, specifically only the STRUCTURE that's
named in its first parameter. In this case, moduser is a structure, url is a
structure, and moduser.url is NOT, but now that figured out the problem, we 'll
do what we have to do to make it work.

I thank you good folks for your input. Sometimes you can't see the forest for

Nope, if anything Flex could lead to much more ColdFusion being used. Flex is
a front end, presentation level tool. It can do very little for back end, data
and business logic for you.

It is designed to integrate with ColdFusion very natively. I am currently
building a model/proposal to redo one of your flagship applications with a flex
front end feeding of the ColdFusion CFC back end. It took me a couple of hours
to build that backend. It has taken me a bit longer to get my head around the
OOPness of the flex front end.

Re: how to retrieve objectguid (LDAP) in a legible format

2006-06-28 Thread Brian Dumbledore
Ok.. Here is what I found... There IS a way to retrieve objectguid in a legible
format.

I am using cf 7

first thing you NEED to do is in the attributes list you give the objectguid.
Then use RETURNASBINARY option for the tag and AGAIN give objectguid there.
Doing so, you are basically telling what attributes in the attributes list you
mentioned need to be returned as binary.

Do this and the objectguid returned satisfies the isBinary()check. So you now
have a binary object that coldfusion understands.

Now, I did a binaryencode(objectguid,HEX) and finally go the object in its
legible glory.

HOWEVER, here is what I noticed. For those using Softterra's ldap administrator
(that's what I am using), what you see in the admin and what you get as hex
after binaryencode()ing is different (sort of).

The last 64 bits are intact, in the first 64 however, there seems to be a bit
of shuffling (don't know which side does this, the ldapadmin or CF).

Here is what happens in the first 8 bytes.
B1 B2 B3 B4 B5 B6 B7 B8  (ldapadmin)
is seen as
B4 B3 B2 B1 B6 B5 B8 B7   (binaryencode())

Can anyone please confirm this?
Anyway since this is just bit shuffling, we do have a unique id which is always
guaranteed to be unique.

Hmm... the ip and servername in these headers matches that of the emails I
get from the list. Unless the spammers are actually sending mail to the
list (in which case it's probably just another filter that Mike needs to add
to the HOF mailing program), this might indicate a virus.

So did everyone get the same spam email (in which case it was sent to the

Where JVM is j2re1.4.0\bin\client\jvm.dll and class path and CFX jar
path as C:\CFusion\Java\classes work just fine.

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Re: House of Fusion Hacked?

2006-06-28 Thread Bill Woodland
I'm at CFUnited and just got online. I'll hunt it down and deal with it.
Sorry about that.

I found an interesting solution to email harvesters:

script type=text/javascript
function mailto(domain,user)
{
document.location.href = mailto:; + user + @ + domain;
}
/script

And to put an email address on a page where the address isn't actually found
inside the source code, do this:

a href=javascript:mailto('tbpc.state.tx.us','bill.woodland');Email Bill
Woodland/a

Clicking on the link invokes the mailto function, which changes the browser
location to the appropriate mailto: link. The browser then passes this over to
your default email client.

tracking which templates are in use

2006-06-28 Thread Russ
We have a huge app with over 10k coldfusion templates. A lot of them are no
longer being used, but we are not entirely sure which ones. Is there
somewhere I can stick a piece of code (OnRequestEnd.cfm maybe?) that would
examine the debug output (through possibly some cfadmin functions) and
figure out which templates were used? This way I can log that to a
database, and after running it for a while get a good sense of what
templates are being used and how often.

  You can do this with cfmodule, but I don't think you can do it with
 cfx tags
 or custom tags.

 You sure can do, at least with CF_ and CFX_ tags.
 See:

Subject: Re: how to retrieve objectguid (LDAP) in a legible format

Ok.. Here is what I found... There IS a way to retrieve objectguid in a
legible format.

I am using cf 7

first thing you NEED to do is in the attributes list you give the
objectguid.
Then use RETURNASBINARY option for the tag and AGAIN give objectguid
there.
Doing so, you are basically telling what attributes in the attributes
list you mentioned need to be returned as binary.

Do this and the objectguid returned satisfies the isBinary()check. So
you now have a binary object that coldfusion understands.

Now, I did a binaryencode(objectguid,HEX) and finally go the object in
its legible glory.

HOWEVER, here is what I noticed. For those using Softterra's ldap
administrator (that's what I am using), what you see in the admin and
what you get as hex after binaryencode()ing is different (sort of).

The last 64 bits are intact, in the first 64 however, there seems to be
a bit of shuffling (don't know which side does this, the ldapadmin or
CF).

Here is what happens in the first 8 bytes.
B1 B2 B3 B4 B5 B6 B7 B8  (ldapadmin)
is seen as
B4 B3 B2 B1 B6 B5 B8 B7   (binaryencode())

Can anyone please confirm this?
Anyway since this is just bit shuffling, we do have a unique id which is
always guaranteed to be unique.

RE: how to retrieve objectguid (LDAP) in a legible format

2006-06-28 Thread Dawson, Michael
Good job, Brian! This is excellent.

One thing I noticed is that I can't return more than one binary column
in a single CFLDAP call. When I specify objectGUID,objectSID for
ATTRIBUTES and RETURNASBINARY, neither is returned as binary.

You are correct about the first eight bytes being switched around. I
found an article on MS's KB regarding this.

You might check CFLIB.org to see if anyone has already created a UDF
that re-arranges the bytes as needed.

Also, I was able to query AD using the objectGUID, but you have to do
some work with the HEX data.

It has to look something like:
\b4\b3\b2\b1\b6\b5\b8\b7\b9\b0\ba\bb\bc\bd\be\bf

Thanks for sharing this solution.

 Flex is going to replace CF in the same way that carbon-fiber car bodies

 are going to replace engines. Both have to do with cars, but the
 statement doesn't make any sense, right? CF is a server-side scripting
 language and Flex is a new toy for building front ends / GUI's. In order

 to use Flex, you're still going to need to use ASP, PHP, CF, Java... to
 do the work on the server when the user interacts with the Flex
 front-end. You've got to have an engine to move that sweet carbon-fiber
 body down the road.

RE: tracking which templates are in use

2006-06-28 Thread Burns, John D
Yeah, that sounds like you basically have it figured out. You just need
to go through the debug output of which templates were used and log
them. I wish there was some sort of CF log, almost like a web server log
to show you which templates have been used. One thing to consider is
that if a template hasn't been viewed, does that really mean it can be
gotten rid of? You may want to find something to crawl the content of
your pages to make sure there aren't links to pages that maybe haven't
been accessed in the last 6 months but might still be live and available
pages.

I hope the cavalry can save me here

error TagCFX::execute

A sample CFX tag is registered as
Tag Name: CFX_CHECK_EMAIL
Class Name: D:\CFusion\cfx\CFX_CHECK_EMAIL.DLL

JVM settings as follows:
Java Virtual Machine Path: D:\CFusion\Java\jvm.dll
Class Path: D:\CFusion\Java\classes
CFX Jar Path: D:\CFusion\Java\classes

What am I missing here?
I also tried using jvm.dll in ~/jre/bin/hotspot
And
Java\jre1.5.0_07\bin\client\jvm.dll but am unsure as far as how to setup
class path and CFX Jar path for 1.5.07

I have seen other setups
Where JVM is j2re1.4.0\bin\client\jvm.dll and class path and CFX jar
path as C:\CFusion\Java\classes work just fine.

Switching the jvm to C:\Program
Files\Java\jre1.5.0_07\bin\client\jvm.dll
And
Class Path: D:\CFusion\Java\classes
CFX Jar Path: D:\CFusion\Java\classes

Now gives me java.lang.ClassNotFoundException:
D:\CFusion\cfx\CFX_CHECK_EMAIL.DLL. Java exception occurred in call to
method.

I also tried the settings as described in WROX CF5 pro book and googled
myself to death.

Can someone please help?

MX 6 web services problem

2006-06-28 Thread Phill B
I created a web service that takes in three variables. When I call to
the web service, the variables values get assigned to the wrong
variable. The brandCode could get the value of sourceCode, SourceCode
gets the value of postalCode, and postalCode gets the brandCode.

Is there something in CF MX 6 that jacks with the variables that are
passed into it???

This is the basics of the code.

cfinvoke
cfinvokeargument name=brandCode value=1
cfinvokeargument name=postalCode value=65807
cfinvokeargument name=sourceCode value=callcenter
/cfinvoke

cffunction access=remote name=topThree output=false returntype=string
cfargument name=brandCode type = string required=yes default=
cfargument name=postalCode type = string required=yes default=
cfargument name=sourceCode type = string required=yes default=
/cffunction

Statistical computations in CF?

2006-06-28 Thread powell
I'm working on an app that pulls together a client's data for a given period of
time, and produces a forecast for what future data might look like. I've been
using the CFLIB forecast() function written by James Stevenson, but am
interested in hearing about any other tools that are either CF-based or could
be easily integrated into a CF app. The CFLIB forecast() function does a
least-squares analysis, but doesn't seem to do a great job on data which has a
definite pattern but is not very straight-line.

If the structure exists, otherwise ... consistency needed

2006-06-28 Thread Howard Owens
I posed a question yesterday -- if it got answered, I can't find the thread on
the HouseOfFusion site and Google hasn't indexed it yet.

Working with Amazon API, I'm trying to build an array of the results set. Some
items in the result set don't always exist, so I'm trying to figure how how to
test for the variable before setting it.

I tried this (based on some feedback here):

if(structKeyExists(AmazonXML.ItemSearchResponse.Items.Item[i],SalesRank)) {
Book.SalesRank =
AmazonXML.ItemSearchResponse.Items.Item[i].SalesRank.XmlText;
}
else {
Book.SalesRank = '';
}

But the problem is, if the first item in the result set doesn't exist, then the
whole structure isn't included in the final array.

How do I determine if salesrank exists on one particular book, and make that
field blank in the array, but include it in the next book in the array if it
exists?

I've also tried IsDefined, but that doesn't work with structures.

I tried IsXmlElem(), but that worked no better than IsDefined.

H.

Re: lay person question

2006-06-28 Thread kurt schroeder
Well this is what i was hoping for. Thanks everyone. Anyway, the anouncement of
a server side element, so i was told, is what started the discussion and the
idea of it possibly replacing CF.

Thanks Again i asked the question and hoped to get the answers you all gave.

Thanks
KES
 I've developed cf for 10 years now, love it, love dot.net too for that
 matter, but what about Flex? A few people have suggested to me that cf
 seems to be on the way out to be replaced with Flex. From their
 perspective as non-cf developers this seems to be the case. My vision
 is clouded so i'd like to ask it plainly as if I were not a CF
 developer. Is CF on the way out and is Felx the intended replacement?

 Thanks

RE: If the structure exists, otherwise ... consistency needed

2006-06-28 Thread Ian Skinner
if(structKeyExists(AmazonXML.ItemSearchResponse.Items.Item[i],SalesRank)) {
Book.SalesRank =
AmazonXML.ItemSearchResponse.Items.Item[i].SalesRank.XmlText;
}
else {
Book.SalesRank = '';
}

But the problem is, if the first item in the result set doesn't exist, then the
whole structure isn't included in the final array.

I am not sure what you mean by the first item in the result set and the whole
structure? The example you provided should give a different result for every
value of Item[i]. If not, then I suspect you may be having the similar problem
from before of using the same instance of the Book array and just resetting the
value to the list item in the loop for all instances.

Re: If the structure exists, otherwise ... consistency needed

2006-06-28 Thread Howard Owens
I think it is a problem of the value being reset.

Here's the thing ... the code without conditionals works just fine. I wasn't
having values reset. As soon as I added the conditionals, values started
getting reset.

I didn't change how the array or structures are created or appended.

H.

 if(structKeyExists(AmazonXML.ItemSearchResponse.Items.Item[i],
 SalesRank)) {
   Book.SalesRank = AmazonXML.ItemSearchResponse.Items.Item[i].
 SalesRank.XmlText;
   }
 else {
   Book.SalesRank = '';
   }

 But the problem is, if the first item in the result set doesn't exist,
 then the whole structure isn't included in the final array.

Re: CFMX 7.0.2 Upgrade errors

2006-06-28 Thread dcooper
The installer checks to verify that CF 7.0.1 is installed. It's a requirement
for the update installers.

There's also a full installer available if you're not running Server or
Multi-srever configs in a J2EE deployment scenario. See the Release Notes
for more details.

(If you are running CF 7.0.0 in multi-server mode, you can first run the CF
7.0.1 Updater, then the CF 7.0.2 Updater, or uninstall/reinstall the full CF
7.0.2 kits.)

HTH!

Damon

So I download the upgrade, shut down all the needed services, start the
installer in multiserver config. and the installer tells me that C:\Jrun4
isn't a valid Jrun root folder

Ideas? Comments? Anyone...Ferris?

coldfusion rss/atom/rdf reader?

2006-06-28 Thread Russ
Is there a good UDF somewhere that will parse RSS/Atom/RDF and possibly some
other feeds? We're currently using createRSSQuery by Joe Nicora from CFLIB,
but we'd like to support more formats.

Russ

2006-06-28 Thread a surfer
Hi

Has anyone managed to bind (SMPP) to Mobile365.com (SMS aggragtor) using the
SMS Event Gateway in ColdFusion MX7 ?

It fails for me and not sure if its CF fault or Mobile365. When I bind I
get a Bind operation failed: java.io.EOFException: Reached end of stream
in my eventgateway.log

Steve

Re: If the structure exists, otherwise ... consistency needed

2006-06-28 Thread Howard Owens
I'm still not sure why my variables are being overwritten.

Here's the entire script ... variables not tested by a conditional output
unique, tested variables do not come out blank every time ... even for items
where the book as the missing element :

cfscript
