Thanks for your reply Claude. I know that formatting wise it's madness to have
p tags round ul tag, but the problem we are having is that we are
suppplying xml data to a vendor for some reason their system won't accept ul
listing without p tags round them. That is my dilema. I'll have a look at
CF_Extract and see if it's any good to me.

Thanks

Printing under IE 6

2007-07-20 Thread Didier Giet
Hi All,

Sorry for my approximate english.

I have a server running Windows 2000 SP4, IIS 5, ColdFusion MX 6.1.
This server host 6 web sites, the code is seemly the same and looks like that
(extract) :

cfheader name=content-disposition value=inline; filename=myPicture.jpg
cfcontent type=image/jpeg file=c:\MyFolder\myPicture.jpg

IIS parameters of the 6 sites are the same.

Clients are MacOS X and Windows XP SP2.

In all web client window the image appears well.
But when i try, on Windows XP IE 6.0, to print the window which contains
myPicture.jpg or when i try to see the print preview, image does not appear.

Very strange because that works well with Safari on MacOS X and FireFox (MacOS
X and Windows XP)and with IE 5 on MacOS.

More strange that works fine with one site.
The only diffrence between this site and the others is the page encodage.
Site works well : encodage = ISO-8859-1
Other sites : encodage = utf-8

Print Web Images option is enabled on the printer driver

Ideas and suggestion are welcome

OT: SQL Server Problem

2007-07-20 Thread Rick Root
I have a problem with our database server. We have a database that we
load from text files every day... the db itself is about 9 gb. The
log settings is bulk logged and I don't perform backups.

Unfortunately, it still logs SOME stuff... and the transaction log is
now 55 gig

Problem is... I have no room on the server now to perform a
transaction log backup, and I can't shrink the file because it's
pretty much all allocated.

How do I get rid of the transaction log?

Can I detach the database and then re-attach it without the log file?

Re: This is a good one - another Regex question

2007-07-20 Thread Claude Schneegans
 Incidentally Claude, how would CF_Extract work in solving the problem.

I cannot be 100% sure myself if I don't have a sample of the file and
the work to do actually,
but apparently your problem it a parsing issue, and I've designed this
tag to help to solve
parsing problems.

The basic principle with CF_REextract is that it allows you to find
special areas in your file
by specifying two regexp for areas that surround the areas you want, and
sometimes this is much
easier than describing the area itself in one regexp.

Re: How do I properly check for an empty string?

2007-07-20 Thread Will Tomlinson
 Maybe not. Say you enter a value in a cell, then clear it. Visually
 the row would appear empty, but POI may still pick up that row. Does
 the code you're using test for empty rows?

I think this is what's happening. And no, I'm not testing for empty rows.

Thanks much,

  Of course MySQL (which I'm a huge fan of) now effectively charges for
  the Windows version (or at least they're not compiling it)

 *Eh* ?
 http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.0.html#win32 looks pre-built to me.

In contrast to the MySQL Enterprise Server, which receives both
monthly rapid updates and quarterly service pack releases, there is
*no specific schedule* for when a new version of the MySQL Community
Server is released. While every bug fix that has been applied to the
Enterprise Server will also be available in the subsequent Community
Server release, there will be source-only releases in between full
(source and binary) Community builds. So while the latest published
community sources will always be available from the Source Downloads
Section, the binaries listed on this page may be from a previous
release. In any case, full binaries for all our supported operating
systems are and will remain conveniently available from this page.

Sure it is, but it's not always current. I've seen it take as long as
a month for the latest build to make it into precompiled format on
Windows. It's no worse than what Windows users have to suffer if they
want Apache with SSL :)

In both cases, there are folks in the community that fill the gap, but
its not quite as easy as make install, yum/apt/whatever, or sudo port
upgrade.

I should have been specific about my criticism being the speed of
tracking. It used to track great, now it's just OK without the
enterprise subscription (which is pretty awesome in and of itself).

Multiple DSN's with Multiple Drivers

2007-07-20 Thread Robertson-Ravo, Neil (RX)
I thought I would post this in the case someone else suffers from the
same problem but during some routine testing; We have an application -
in Model-Glue:Unity which is using 2 DSN's, one of which was set to use
the Microsoft SQL Server JDBC 1.1 Driver and the other was set to use
the vanilla DataDirect driver. We found that if both of the datasources
are not set to use the same driver it does not return the necessary
results/datasets - if they are the same then the app works??! How weird
is that?

Re: This is a good one - another Regex question

2007-07-20 Thread Claude Schneegans
If the whole file is like this, henestly you don't really need
CF_REextract for this.
1º replace all occurences of /p[[:space:]]ul by #chr(13)##chr(10)#ul
2º replace all /ul with /ul#chr(13)##chr(10)#/p

You don't even need regexp for 2º

Now, if you have UL blocs with no preceding P, or multi-level ULs,
then it's another story.

I don't use this for true authentication, just low risk personalization. If

re: Cfchart Pie issue

2007-07-20 Thread Troy Montour
Anyone else run into this??

Thank You
Troy

 Hello everyone,
 is there an issue in CFchart for type pie with using a custom xml file?.

normally I just create a custom xml file and put it in the
cf-root/charting/styles/ directory.

then I call it like this
style=Bar_3D_SLANTED_2Axis which would call this file
Bar_3D_SLANTED_2Axis.xml in directory above
and when I create a bar chart this works fine.

but as soon as I create a custom Pie chart it gives me the error
Could not locate the style file Pie_3D.

if I map to it with a relative path which works fine, but calling it as I
normally do with the style tag it doesn't work.
any help would be great. I'm trying not to use relative paths since its called
at different locations thru out our application.

Thank You
Troy

 Subject: CF Sorting Code...

 I've seen this before but I can't seem to find it on the Adobe
 exchange. I'm
 looking for a custom tag or any kind of CF code that can take a list of
 database entries and allow you to sort them visually, by cliking on a
 product and moving it up or down. Thanks, Che.

This wouldn't really be CF Code (although CF could definitely deliver it).
You'd need to do this primarily on the client side.

I've an example here using JavaScript and my ObCollectionOrdered object:

http://www.depressedpress.com/Content/Development/JavaScript/Extensions/DP_O
bCollectionOrdered/Index.cfm

Go down to examples and look at the first one. The code is stand alone
but in your case you would replace lines 44-50 with CF output of your items.
Bascially your creating a collection of Option objects and a simple method
to populate them into a select box (the populateSelect() box function in the
example).

The ObCollectionOrdered extension then provides all sorts of ways to
manipulate the ordered collection - moving items (promoting/demoting/jumping
to a position/first/last/etc) and sorting. You just manipulate the
collection using those (usually just one method call) and then just recall
the populateSelect() to paint the select with the new order.

Essentially all your code does is paint the screen and call methods on the
collection.

The whole idea is easily transferred to other displays as well (there's
another example of using the same thing to create sortable tables for
example).

Hope this helps,

Jim Davis

Populating a CF Requst variable from a jsp page....capturing windows login with jsp

2007-07-20 Thread William Burba
Good Afternoon all,

In the search to capture the windows login id on a unix server, I found code
jsp code that captures the pin through the http header using NTLM. With our
servers, we cannot install any additional software, and they strive to keep the
windows/unix environments as separated as possible.

The jsp code posted on JGuru by Chad Skeeters (giving credit where credit is
due), successfully returns the user name, local machine and domain. Now the
trick is trying to get that into cold fusion. From what I can tell, the jsp
needs to be called directly as it doesn't display any output using the
getPageContext() function. I would have liked to put this into a cfc so that I
can use it on multiple pages, not just the first time someone comes into the
app, but would definitely settle for that.

Here is the JSP code...

%
String auth = request.getHeader(Authorization);
if (auth == null)
{
  response.setStatus(response.SC_UNAUTHORIZED);
  response.setHeader(WWW-Authenticate, NTLM);
  response.flushBuffer();
  return;
}
if (auth.startsWith(NTLM ))
{
  byte[] msg = new sun.misc.BASE64Decoder().decodeBuffer(auth.substring(5));
  int off = 0, length, offset;
  if (msg[8] == 1)
  {
byte z = 0;
byte[] msg1 = {(byte)'N', (byte)'T', (byte)'L', (byte)'M', (byte)'S',
(byte)'S', (byte)'P', z,(byte)2, z, z, z, z, z, z, z,(byte)40, z, z, z,
(byte)1, (byte)130, z, z,z, (byte)2, (byte)2, (byte)2, z, z, z, z, z, z, z, z,
z, z, z, z};
response.setHeader(WWW-Authenticate, NTLM  + new
sun.misc.BASE64Encoder().encodeBuffer(msg1));
response.sendError(response.SC_UNAUTHORIZED);
return;
  }
  else if (msg[8] == 3)
  {
off = 30;

length = msg[off+17]*256 + msg[off+16];
offset = msg[off+19]*256 + msg[off+18];
String remoteHost = new String(msg, offset, length);

length = msg[off+1]*256 + msg[off];
offset = msg[off+3]*256 + msg[off+2];
String domain = new String(msg, offset, length);

length = msg[off+9]*256 + msg[off+8];
offset = msg[off+11]*256 + msg[off+10];
String username = new String(msg, offset, length);

out.println(Username:+username+BR);
out.println(RemoteHost:+remoteHost+BR);
out.println(Domain:+domain+BR);
  }
}
%

The end result I am looking for is to get the username into a request scope
variable.

Any ideas on how to do that, or better yet, some enterprising person converting
this to cfm?

Thanx a bunch!

Bill

On a side note, I know there are holes in this approach concerning the security
level setting of ie, or setting of prompt for user name dialog, but here,
that is not to big an issue.

Web Based Project Management Tool

2007-07-20 Thread Oğuz Demirkapı
Hi all,

Can anyone suggest a web based project management tool which has also
Unicode capability.

I have tried Skweegee, Project Tracker and LighthousePro from RiaForge
but all have problems with Unicode chars.

I can try to fix one of them but may be this would be with a
collaboration of the project manager and then we may have updated code
for the future releases.

I love Trac but I do want to have a CF based solution. Skweegee looks
promising with its features but ...

Yes, Paul, I am lazy because of time. Otherwise I would like to create
tons of projects.

We have already talked with Ray before for BlogCFC problems but I think
he also did not find any time to focus on the problems which are already
reported at BlogCFC page on RiaForge.

I really would like to help any of these projects if the project owner
also want to solve the problems. I don't like to fix alone just because
of could not updating my fixed version for future versions. I did once
for Galleon and it is still the old version just because of not having
time to update the new code again. I think it would be a good idea idea
to fix the project and having the right code for future releases. (Russ,
are you willing to fix the Skweegee problems? :) )

And what I am looking for is a basic platform to hep one of my friend
who is volunteer for a non-profit organization (http://tassausa.org).I
would like to provide a platform which is based on CF just to make CF
more popular at this organization. :)

Anyway, I need to turn back to work on projects. What I learn in US is

You'll have to use a binding expression, either on the form elements, or on the
cfformitem, like cfformitem type=text bind={textbox1.text}

You can certainly change any port used by JRun. In addition, you would
typically turn off the JRun Admin server instance in production anyway,
except when you need it.

i would still call that *your* issue (after all it's your static text), most
current blog users won't need it. i don't see why that should be part of the
original code.

 The problem looks like XML parser has problems with BOM and without BOM
 it looks like there is not any real solution.

well the BOM is actually optional for utf-8 but let me look at it.

Re: CFFORM Variables

2007-07-20 Thread Rob Parkhill
  I am trying to use a CFFORM format=Flash tag that has multiple
 tabs.
  I want the user to be able to enter information on the first tab,
 and
  then by clicking on the second tab, have the data available. I
  thought that this was a relatively simple request, but I cannot seem

  to get the variables to be accessible on the second tab. How do I
  reference the variables?

  I know that it is not 'form.textbox1'
  nor is it  'formname.textbox1'

  I am also trying to access a javascript function from with the Flash

  form, and anytime that I refernce the function, the form just plain

  doesn't display...??

  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Thanks,

 You'll have to use a binding expression, either on the form elements,
 or on the cfformitem, like cfformitem type=text bind={textbox1.
text}

Thanks for the response. I guess I need to refine my question further. I want
to take user input from the first tab and then use it dynamically on the second
tab - choice on first tab affects possible choices on second tab. And then
similarily, choices made on second tab affect available choices on third tab
and then everything culminates on the fourth and final tab. I can't even seem
to get a Javascript call to work for an onChange procedure. I will be mostly
selects built from queries - I was hoping to be able to limit the query results
by the entered form data (but this doesn't work).

Thanks,

Rob

It looks like we can not use our own domain. If I pay, may be I would

Anyway, this is a non-profit organization and I think the free service

Thanks for the suggestion!

 They have been rock solid for me. Simple interface, but effective. Control

 I'd feel better using them then a free service run by some college kids...

newlist = ''  replace(oldlist, ', ', ', , all)  ''

I think I got all those quotes and such right.

Another method would be to loop over the list and use listappend to
create a new one, something like this:

cfloop list=#oldlist# index=i
cfset listappend(newlist, '#i#')
/cfloop

As always, untested, YMMV, keep your head inside the web page at all times.

Re: Incident Tracking

2007-07-20 Thread Doug Bezona
That's really just a matter of semantics. You're generally dealing with the
same type of information - a ticket (bug, incident, etc.), status,
resolutions, etc. You may have to tweak some naming conventions, but the
process is not inherently different.

Another CF-based (though not free) option that I have had good experience
with is CFTicket (www.cornfeed.com).

Reasonably priced, and includes unencrypted source code which is fairly well
organized and easy to work with should you need/want to make modifications.

The project I used it on in the past was definitely NOT bug tracking - it
was actually more like a help desk/support system, for accepting, triaging
and tracking inquiries to subject matter experts within the company. It
was very effective.

CF Unicode (was: Incident Tracking)

2007-07-20 Thread Oğuz Demirkapı
Hi Russ,

There are some levels of Unicode support. The one that you mentioned is
just a part of it if you have MS SQL Server.

Then:

- Activate Enable High ASCII characters and Unicode for data sources
configured for non-Latin characters in CF DSN settings.
- Use CFQueryParam in every query.

OR

- Use Ns before the query parameters. Here is the technote
http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_18331

If you have MySQL:

- Use MySQL 4.1.x or newer.
- Use utf8 for all settings.
- Update your MySQL scripts which has already latin1 such as BlogCFC
MySQL script.
- Use a Unicode compatible MySQL editor when you need to edit the DB
directly.

Here is one of my tutorials which explains some more details:
http://howtoforge.com/coldfusion7_mysql4.1_connection

The CF/HTML templates:

- Use Unicode in page encoding.
- Use BOM support if you can. If you have BOM support, you do not need
to use any extra tag etc. to have support in CF.
- If there is no BOM chance use cfprocessingdirective
pageEncoding=utf-8 in evet single CFM template. Application.cfm etc.
usage does not help.
- Use meta tags in your HTML. meta http-equiv=Content-Type
content=text/html; charset=utf-8
- Do not use Homesite/CFStudio for any unicode page. Check technote
http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_19059

These are some must have stuff for basic Unicode support. Of course
there are some detailed techniques to organize application in a
structure in order to have i18N support and it needs some more extra
topics. :)

I had a class at CFUnited as Multi Lingual(i18N) ColdFusion
Applications in Theory and Practice but there was not enough interest.
May be next year ...

CFC is server scope and session calls to it...

2007-07-20 Thread John Skrotzki
Hi! Question, I have several cfc's stored in server scope ( yes, I own server
and it is for a intranet and I use vars ) that are the guts of my app. I
have a pretty clear understanding of how things work except one situation.

When a call is made to a method with arguments passed in, currently I am
passing in my session.user.ident ( where I store the user identity )
explicitly. I was wondering if I am able to reference the session scope
implicitly in the cfc method directly without causing erroneous user.idents
references. I would assume that I would have to do a lock? What kind? Or is
it better to pass in the session directly into the cfc method using the
arguments? Am I making sense? lol

Thanks.

I would, if at all possible for designs sake pass in the session data as an
argument and to not use / explicitly reference the session scope within.

Re: CFC is server scope and session calls to it...

2007-07-20 Thread Cameron Childress
Definitely I would either just pass the entire user object in or use a
session facade to instantiate the user ubject from within the server
scoped CFC. The primary reason I would choose one over the other would
be that explicitly passing in the user object would allow you to
potentially pass in ANY user object (logged in user or not), while using
a session facade pretty much will tightly couple that server scope CFC
to the logged in user and you will have to refactor to allow it to
support other user objects.

Re: This is a good one - another Regex question

2007-07-20 Thread Jide Aliu
Hi Claude - I tried the implementation you suggested, the second half worked
fine all/ul are replaced by /ul/p but absolutely nothing happened the top
half the opening pblah blah/p ulsdfsd remains the same.

Am I doing something wrong? Please see the code below

cfset formatText= rePlace(rawText, /p[[:space:]]ul,
#chr(13)##chr(10)#ul,ALL)
cfset formatText= rePlace(formatText, /ul,
/ul#chr(13)##chr(10)#/p,ALL)

1º replace all occurences of /p[[:space:]]ul by #chr(13)##chr(10)#ul
2º replace all /ul with /ul#chr(13)##chr(10)#/p

You don't even need regexp for 2º

Now, if you have UL blocs with no preceding P, or multi-level ULs,
then it's another story.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly by passing session.user.ident explicitly,
but I assume that you mean something like this:

cfset myval = Server.mycfc.mymethod(Session.user.ident)

That would be strongly preferable to referencing the Session scope directly
within your CFC instance, since doing so tightly couples your component to
its caller.
