Re: [clamav-users] Installation and Use

2024-01-31 Thread Micah Snyder (micasnyd) via clamav-users
Hi Gene,

Did you use this download URL?
https://www.clamav.net/downloads/production/clamav-1.2.1.win.win32.msi

I just tested it on a 32bit Windows 10 VM and did not run into any issues. The
installation worked okay and running the EXE programs (in PowerShell) worked
okay.

Please keep in mind that ClamAV is a command-line (terminal) application.
Double-clicking the EXE's will not do anything useful.

You can find installation instructions here:
https://docs.clamav.net/manual/Installing.html#windows

After installing, continue along to the Usage section.

I have downloaded the 32bit msi file and installed and rebooted the system.

Every .exe file I click on says it is not a valid win32 application.

How can I run the anti virus or configure it?

you have probably confgigured different clamav paths which results into
amavis not detecting clamav.

Package installation on Debian 9.11 with dovecot.

Looking at your subject line, I wonder do you mean that you want to
replace the Debian package version of ClamAV with a version of ClamAV
compiled from source? This is not perfectly straightforward, but the
safest way to do it is first to use APT to remove _and_ purge all the
Debian ClamAV packages. There are several packages to be removed.

In any case you should probably consider moving to Debian 10 soon.

The installation seems ok but every email subject is now complemented with

The word UNCHECKED does not appear to be present in the ClamAV sources:

laptop3:/opt/ged/src/net/mail/clamav-0.102.1$ >>> grep -r UNCHECKED

Ok, try
make clean

To cleanup the build first.

What sort of OS are you on? You may have said but I can’t remember.
So, delete the current directory you have it in and make sure you are
downloading the correct sources.
https://github.com/Cisco-Talos/clamav-faq/blob/master/faq/Installing.md

Or
https://github.com/Cisco-Talos/clamav-faq/blob/master/manual/UserManual/Installation-Unix.md

Ensure your environment points to your compiler. and libraries etc.

Read the INSTALL.MD

Other than that, not sure what could be wrong.

Re: [clamav-users] Installation problem.

2018-12-09 Thread nikos

Hello list.
I tried Robert, but nothing change.

I think is something with configure file. I
copy the configure file from previous version and work with no
problem. So there is no problem with the C++ compiler. Can I do
the installation with the previous configure file?

I try download it again but nothing change,
same problem.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

The missing tools are either not in your path or not installed. You could run
yum info */g++ to see if it is installed, and if it is run locate g++ and
compare locations to your path with echo $PATH.

Given that your command line works for me, and that your old version is
fine, I suspect a problem with what you have downloaded, so try getting
it again.

Anther thought is that you have run out of space in /home/admin.

And a third is just run configure without any options.

[Clamav-users] Installation

2009-03-29 Thread John Ernie Hoblyn
Hello,

I am completely new to Linux and having problems with installations. I
have persuaded yum to install ClamAV on my system but have no idea what
to do next. I've taken advice from various people who have told me to
rewrite some parts of the program but it doesn't open. All I want is to
have it scan my outgoing e-mails to stop me inadvertently passing on
Windows viruses, but I have no idea where to go from here. Can anyone
help?

Sounds like a permissions problem with clamav unable to read from
wherever exim puts the mail for scanning.

On my system exim runs as user mail and clamav is a member of group
mail. You might like to have a go with that.

If not you're welcome to my exim.conf, clamd.conf and freshclam.conf if

[Clamav-users] installation / send mail problems

2004-11-25 Thread pete
Hi All
I'm having a real hard time getting clamav 0.80 working on my server, I
suspect it may be something to do with the version of exim, but I'm not

Installation and general setup all seem to be fine, all the correct files

Once I modify the exim.conf and restart exim I am unable to send any email,

[Clamav-users] Installation Problem

2004-11-03 Thread Chris

Hi All

I think I am in the right forum for this. so please excuse me if I am not

I am having trouble installing clamav on a linux box (remotely hosted)

I am getting an error when I do a shell install

the error is cpp has failed sanity checks

Now please excuse my lack of knowledge about gcc, as this problem may be
unrelated to clamav

but I have checked, and the configure.log file says that cpp cant find
stdio.h and a few others.

these include files are in /usr/include and gcc's documentation says that it
looks there by default. so I am confused as to why its not being found

further investigation into config.log shows these lines

now I was wondering if the default search paths have been disabled
if so why and how can I re-enable them ?

other required info

gcc version 3.2.2 20030222 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.2-5)
host has cpanel installed (they do some weird stuff so maybe they disabled
it)

Any help would be appreciated

Regards
Chris

[Clamav-users] Installation outdated error in freshclam

2004-05-06 Thread Phil Schilling
Sorry, I know this was discussed at the end of April, but apparently
much of Aprils list archive is missing.

When running freshclam directly or via cron it gives the error:
WARNING: Your ClamAV installation is OUTDATED - please update
immediately!

I did update to the latest stable yesterday, which did not cure the
issue. Thanks, and I know this was already discussed but as archives
of the mailing list are incomplete and can not find the previous
answer.

just a word of advice for the future.i'd have put symlinks in the
old locations, not copied executablesthat's a good way to end up
with multiple versions down the line. if you make a symlink, then when
you upgrade in location a, location b now points to the correct
things...

i´ve solved the problem by deleting all files related to the old rpm,
 uninstalling it and the, after
being certain that all file were gone, i've installed the new rpm.
my system kept the path to the old file so i had to copy the new ones
 (executables) to these location
so that commands such as clamd --version would work without have to
 write
 the full path

 here are the results for:

 clamd / ClamAV version 0.70

I am

Well, clamav source (both stable and devel) is always available on
www.clamav.net. You can compile it yourself.
Binary versions of CVS snapshot (the ones with devel-)
is usually available on clamav.or.id.
packages (rpm, deb) usually only have stable versions, not devel ones.

Not quite.

To activate any new features (ie, OLE scanning in this version) You should
see what config lines are in the .rpmnew files and intigrate them into your
existing conf files. And run a freshclam to make sure your virus db's are
up to date.

That IS weird then.

Also, Please guide me how to install your precompiled binary.

Installation instruction is on http://clamav.or.id.

Snip from web page (adjusted to be linux-specific):
-Get clamav binaries for your platform. You should already have
libgmp installed on /usr/lib
 ( this would be
http://clamav.or.id/snapshot/clamav-devel-latest.linux-libc-2.2.5.tar.gz )
-Uncompress : gunzip -c clamav-devel-latest.linux-libc-2.2.5.tar.gz
| ( cd / ; tar xvf - )
-Create clamav user (or whatever user you choose) : useradd clamav
-Fix permissions : chown -R clamav /usr/local/share/clamav
-Copy config files : cp /usr/local/etc/clamav.conf.linux
/usr/local/etc/clamav.conf ; cp /usr/local/etc/freshclam.conf.linux
/usr/local/etc/freshclam.conf
- Edit clamav.conf: Adjust User, LocalSocket, LogFile,
LogFileMaxSize and ArchiveMaxFileSize as needed.
You might want to add StreamSaveToDisk, ScanMail, and ScanOLE2.
You could leave it as it is and ClamAV will run as user clamav.
-Edit freshclamav.conf: Adjust UpdateLogFile, DatabaseOwner,
DatabaseMirror, and Checks as needed.
You could leave it as it is and freshclam will run as user clamav.
-Run /usr/local/bin/freshclam.
-If all goes well, run '/usr/local/bin/freshclam -d' and
'/usr/local/sbin/clamd'
-Test your installation with '/usr/local/bin/clamscan
/usr/local/share/clamav/test' and '/usr/local/bin/clamdscan
/usr/local/share/clamav/test'.
 Both should find ClamAV-Test-Signature.

Please address any future installation problem from this binary to me
directly, not to clamav-users list.
Regards,

Fajar A. Nugraha

Tanmaya Anand wrote:

hi all ,
Hi!

I am a new to clamav.
Welcome!

I am using linux 7.1 on a PIII machine.
There is no such thing as Linux 7.1. There exist at least SuSE Linux
7.1 and RedHat Linux 7.1, but these differ a lot (and SuSE dropped
support for 7.1 a year ago).

I don't want to be offendive here. Really.

There's a good chance you receive helpful answers if you precisely
describe the circumstances:

- OS Version/Distribution

If you're compiling from source:
- Source version (eg full name of the tarball and where you got it from,
or date of latest ChangeLog entry if you're compiling from CVS)

If you're using a prebuilt binary:
- Exact version information (eg output from clamscan --version or
clamav-milter --version)
- What type and version of binary distribution used (rpm, deb, ...) and
where you downloaded it from

- exact error message and commandline which produced it

This is not offendive, but a mere line-up of what we need to help. This
_has_ to be posted every now and then.

But on to your problem:
When i try the command

./configure --sysconfdir=/etc

I get the following message

*checking build system type... ./config.guess: line 1: 16810
Aborted (core dumped) ( $c $dummy.c -c -o $dummy.o )
 /dev/null 21
./config.guess: line 1: 16813 Aborted (core dumped) ( $c
$dummy.c -c -o $dummy.o ) /dev/null 21
This is definitely _not_ related to clamav. GCC core dumps are usually
related to a bug in gcc itself, or (more likely) due to faulty RAM.
You may want to try memtest86 (it's on all SuSE cd's since 7.x, don't
know if/how other vendors ship it).

Kind Regards,
  Thomas

This looks like a qmail problem - does the delivery Maildir directory
exist? Is it structured properly?

OK. Mount the installation DVD and change directory to /mnt/cdrom/Redhat/RPMS,
then type rpm -ivh kernel-headers*. You need to do that as root.

I guess that you chose not to install kernel development when installing the

Do you have kernel headers installed ?

Try the following command at the terminal prompt (you do not need to be

Do have directories /usr/include/linux /usr/include/asm with a lot of .h
