Stus-List binnacle light follow-up
It turns out the wire was not connected to a power source! The wire was good. I have a terminal block for the instruments in the NavPod under the deck, so I cut the wire, added eye fittings and connected to the power supply for the GPS. I'm not worried about the power drain of 2 tiny LEDs. Re: Stus-List binnacle light
Joel, My binnacle light is also wired to the Running Lights (not the ones on the mast) switch on the panel, just as Jake has described. But in addition, corrosion on the wires right in the binnacle itself had to be cleaned to get the lights (2 bulbs) to work. Eric Cat's Paw CC 35 Mk II Mattapoisett, MA Joel, If I recall, you have two push-pull switches next to your engine panel. I only have one and that is for the binnacle light (which hopefully still works). It is conceivable that the binnacle might be wired into your nav lights too. They are all needed at the same time? On our 34, the binnacle wire goes to the push pull switch next to the engine panel then to the running lights. Had to replace the switch a few years back due to corrosion. Re: Stus-List binnacle light
Joel Check the wiring diagram supplied in your CC Manual. On my 1986 CC 41 CB, the Binnacle light is separately fused with an in-line fuse. The fuse is in series with the binnacle on/off switch located outside in the cockpit on the engine instrument panel. The fuse is behind the the panel and is part of the wiring harness. Remove the panel and check the switch and the fuse. The switch is not well sealed, and I’ve had to replace the switch and/or the fuse from time to time. You may also note that the engine room blower switch is also in the same area, and similarly fused.
