I have a friend who has claimed many times that the Civil War was a religious war between the Catholic north and the Protestant south. He says that one of his own ancestors, who was Irish Catholic from Canada volunteered, like many other Catholics from Canada, to fight for the North in support of Catholicism. He also has shown me census data from before and after the Civil War which shows that before the war Catholicism was very rare in the south and that it increased rapidly afterwards. He also says that Booth was Catholic, as was co-conspirator Mary Surrat (he says she had been a num). Her son, who escape, traveled through Canada to Europe and then stayed at the Vatican as a guard until found out. According to a recent book, he was soon captured and returned for trial. However, my friend claims that according to the US National Archives Sarrat junior was never tried nor even captured. -Caveat Lector- Hello, Perhaps my great granfather Joel Parrish knew Jefferson Davis since he was an officer in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. My Granfather George Sumpter Parrish passed away last September at the age of 97. I never got the chance to talk much to him about his father while he was still alive. It would have perhaps answered some of the questions concerning the reasons for the Civil War which by the way had little to with the issue of slavery. The Civil War was primarily fought over the issue of Northerners trying to take over and control Southern Business by way of excessive tariffs and mafia still payments to northern business's for goods produced by the south. The South was very prosperous during and prior to the Civil War. Anyone who lives in the south or has traveled there can attest to this by the Architectural structures that still stand in lot of places to this very day. One last item and I will stop for now. There is an exact replica of the Parthenon located in Nashville, Tennessee that contains items taken from the original Parthenon in Greece. It also contains inside a Statue built out of the guide there says Gypsum but I know better. It is built entirely out of Lithothane which is made from processed coral. This statue alone is worth an immense fortune. The last time I priced Lithothane it was $8,000 to $10,000 for a 8 inch sguare piece. So you see there are things far more valuable than gold located in plain sight in the South. "Howard R. Fenwick, CCO TO: All Hands Subject: Prophylaxis Against Air Delivered Anthrax A Preliminary Report from Medical Corps In medical language, a prophylaxis is a preventative; or a prevention against a disease. As reported in an earlier article by Medical Corps we stated that there was no known prophylaxis against Anthrax. We now know of one. In point of fact, experimental treatment data indicates that daily doses of simple antibiotics -- even taken 24 hours AFTER exposure -- will shield a human from con-tracting Anthrax. Not only do the antibiotics protect against Anthrax, but existing studies strongly suggest that the same prophylaxis will work against Cholera and Plague. Here is the story. Where: Not long after the first Anthrax article was printed, Medical Corps received a call from a lady who said that the U.S. Army had done studies using antibiotics as a prophylaxis against Antrax. The Corps agreed that this might work, but without verification, could not print it. About a month later a copy of a report from the Journal of Infectious Diseases arrived. Unfortunately, two pages were missing -- still not verified. Next stop was a VA Medical Research Center where this writer sifted through several volumes of the 50 or so Infectious Disease Journals in the VA Medical Library. We now have that document intact. The report is call: Postexposure Prophylaxis against Experimental Inhalation Anthrax (Journal of Infect. Dis. 1993; 167:1239-42) Who: The experiment was conducted by Dr. Arthur M. Friedlander, US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, Bacteriology Division, Fort Detrick, Frederick, MD How: Rhesus monkeys (6 groups of 10 each, total: 60) were exposed to a heads-only challenge of air delivered Anthrax spores . Beginning one day after exposure, each of the six groups being tested were given the below treatment, with results as follows: Treatment Control (untreated) Vaccine Alone Penicillin Ciprofloxacin (Cipro Doxycycline Doxycycline + Vaccine Anthrax Deaths 9 out of 10 died 8 out of 10 died 3 out of 10 died 1 out of 9 died 1 out of 10 died 0 out of 9 died Several things about this study are readily apparent. *1) The antibiotics worked surprisingly well even when treatment wsa started a day after exposure *2) Given a day after exposure, the vaccine was a dismal failure. *3) Without the prophylaxis, the chances of contracting the disease after being exposed to Inhalation Anthrax is almost a certainty. *4) The study was done on monkeys. While the Rhesus monkey responds to diseases and medications quite like a human, they are still animals. Human dosages will be different andthe outcome may be better or not as successful. Before we discuss human dosages, consider these options: *a. If you contract Pulmonary Anthrax and you do not treat it, YOU WILL SURELY DIE! *b. Even with the most heroic treatment measures available in a hospital setting, your chances of surviving Pulmonary Anthrax are extremely remote. *c. Human doses are determined by conversion calculations between animals and humans. This is accomplished through blood level comparisons of MICs (Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations),dosage weight tables, peak and trough levels as well as various case studies. *d. Additionally, human dosages were discussed with Pharmacists, Physicians, Clinicians and a former Chief of Medical Research of Oklahoma. What all of the above means is that the dosages will work and are as accurate as possible without human studies. DOXYCYCLINE: Adult Dosages: Doxycycline (Vibramycin) pills or capsules. **Prophylaxis Only** Note: Adult weight is anyone weighing over 100 pounds. (PDR) *1) Minimum adult dosage for Doxycycline = 200 mg every twelve hours (BID/q12h) x 45 days. *2) Maximum adult dosage for Doxycycline = 150 mg to 200 mg every eight hours (TID/q8h) x 60 days. Note: When our survival depends upon antibiotics we tend to think that if this much is supposed to work then two or three times as much will be even better. Antibiotics are alien to the human body and in prescribed dosages are only mildly poisonous. Taken in extreme doses they will damage your body or quite likely kill you. Children Dosages: Doxycycline (Vibramycin) **Prophylaxis Only** Dosages for children vary according to body weight and the drug being used. The Physicians Desk Reference (the PDR is a drug data book) states that for children above 100 pounds, the adult dose of Doxycycline should be used. For children below 100 pounds, a daily recommended dose equaling 1mg per 1 pound of body weight should be divided into two equal doses and given 12 hours apart. (PDR) For instance, a 60 lb. child would receive 60mg in two 30mg doses. However, Doxycycline tablets or capsules only come in 50 and 100mg sizes. Considering the insidious nature of Anthrax, it woud probably be better to give the 60 lb. child

When I read about Booth getting into and forming an Oil company, I did wonder about that. General Lee and Jefferson Davis probably met at the church which was a confederate stronghold and a safe place to meet.I wish my mother were alive; but all my relatives are dead, and all I have are some old documents. When I read the bible I see the Civil War; Obadiah, is one good reference.you can almost her Dixie when you read that one. An example of government connecion to secret societies; look at Cuba, look at Iraq, etc. If they do not bend to their knees, you get them socially politically, and economically. If you bend on all fours moslem style, you ae rewarded with silver, but you have sold your soul to the devil in return, and put liens among the pots, or whatever they call that. -Caveat Lector- My information is that Jefferson Davis was Catholic, and the Pope Pius IX sent him some kind of a supportive letter, although I've never been clear on how far it went or what it was in reference to. . . . . as a lateral issue, I've found that if I can't remember a line of argument, it often doesn't hold water. Example: the anti-vaccine people make the case that small pox and polio were going away anyway even before the vaccine came out -- but I can never remember what the reasoning is. 2nd example: the argument that the Civil War wasn't over slavery --- I've seen some people on Politically Incorrect and elsewhere argue this passionately, -- but can anyone succinctly state their case? States Rights isn't good enough, because what States Rights were they fighting for? The right to enslave fellow human beings? That as absurd as the right to abortion. -Caveat Lector- China Stole Nuclear Secrets From Los Alamos By JAMES RISEN and JEFF GERTH The New York Times WASHINGTON -- Working with nuclear secrets stolen from a U.S. government laboratory, China has made a leap in the development of nuclear weapons: the miniaturization of its bombs, according to administration officials. Until recently, China's nuclear weapons designs were a generation behind those of the United States, largely because Beijing was unable to produce small warheads that could be launched from a single missile at multiple targets and form the backbone of a modern nuclear force. But by the mid-1990s, China had built and tested such small bombs, a breakthrough that officials say was accelerated by the theft of U.S. nuclear secrets from Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. The espionage is believed to have occurred in the mid-1980s, officials said. But it was not detected until 1995, when American experts analyzing Chinese nuclear test results found similarities to America's most advanced miniature warhead, the W-88. By the next year, government investigators had identified a suspect, an American scientist at Los Alamos laboratory, where the atomic bomb was first developed. The investigators also concluded that Beijing was continuing to steal secrets from the government's major nuclear weapons laboratories, which had been increasingly opened to foreign visitors since the end of the Cold War. The White House was told of the full extent of China's spying in the summer of 1997, on the eve of the first U.S.-Chinese summit meeting in eight years -- a meeting intended to dramatize the success of President Clinton's efforts to improve relations with Beijing. White House officials say they took the allegations seriously; as proof of this they cite Clinton's ordering the labs within six months to improve security. But some U.S. officials assert that the White House sought to minimize the espionage issue for policy reasons. "This conflicted with their China policy," said a U.S. official, who like many others in this article spoke on condition of anonymity. "It undercut the administration's efforts to have a strategic partnership with the Chinese." The White House denies the assertions. "The idea that we tried to cover up or downplay these allegations to limit the damage to United States-Chinese relations is absolutely wrong," said Gary Samore, the senior National Security Council official who handled the issue. Yet a reconstruction by The New York Times reveals that throughout the government, the response to the nuclear theft was marked by delays, inaction and skepticism -- even though senior intelligence officials regarded it as one of the most damaging spy cases in recent history. Initially, the FBI did not aggressively pursue the criminal investigation of lab theft, U.S. officials said. Now, nearly three years later, no arrests have been made. Only in the last several weeks, after prodding from Congress and the secretary of energy, have government officials administered lie detector tests to the main suspect, a Los Alamos computer scientist who is Chinese- American. The suspect failed a test in February, according to senior administration officials. At the Energy Department, officials waited more than a year to act on the FBI's 1997 recommendations to improve security at the weapons laboratories and restrict the suspect's access to classified information, officials said. The department's chief of intelligence, who raised the first alarm about the case, was ordered last year by senior officials not to tell Congress about his findings because critics might use them to attack the administration's China policies, officials said. And at the White House, senior aides to Clinton fostered a skeptical view of the evidence of Chinese espionage and its significance. White House officials, for example, said they determined on learning of it that the Chinese spying would have no bearing on the administration's dealings with China, which included the increased exports of satellites and other militarily useful items. They continued to advocate looser controls over sales of supercomputers and other equipment, even as intelligence analysts documented the scope of China's espionage. Samore, the Security Council official, did not accept the Energy Department's conclusion that China's nuclear advances stemmed largely from the theft of U.S. secrets. In 1997, as Clinton prepared to meet with President Jiang Zemin of China, he asked the CIA for a quick alternative analysis of the issue. The agency found that China had stolen secrets from Los Alamos but differed with the Energy Department over the significance of the spying. The director of the agency admits it had known for at least 20 years that Pellagra is caused by a niacin deficiency but failed to act since most of the deaths occured within poverty-striken black populations. 1940 Four hundred prisoners in Chicago are infected with Malaria in order to study the effects of new and experimental drugs to combat the disease. Nazi doctors later on trial at Nuremberg cite this American study to defend their own actions during the Holocaust. 1942 Chemical Warfare Services begins mustard gas experiments on approximately 4,000 servicemen. The experiments continue until 1945 and made use of Seventh Day Adventists who chose to become human guinea pigs rather than serve on active duty. 1943 In response to Japan's full-scale germ warfare program, the U.S. begins research on biological weapons at Fort Detrick, MD. 1944 U.S. Navy uses human subjects to test gas masks and clothing. Individuals were locked in a gas chamber and exposed to mustard gas and lewisite. 1945 Project Paperclip is initiated. The U.S. State Department, Army intelligence, and the CIA recruit Nazi scientists and offer them immunity and secret identities in exchange for work on top secret government projects in the United States. "Program F" is implemented by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC). This is the most extensive U.S. study of the health effects of fluoride, which was the key chemical component in atomic bomb production. One of the most toxic chemicals known to man, fluoride, it is found, causes marked adverse effects to the central nervous system but much of the information is squelched in the name of national security because of fear that lawsuits would undermine full-scale production of atomic bombs. 1946 Patients in VA hospitals are used as guinea pigs for medical experiments. In order to allay suspicions, the order is given to change the word "experiments" to "investigations" or "observations" whenever reporting a medical study performed in one of the nation's veteran's hospitals. 1947 Colonel E.E. Kirkpatrick of the U.S. Atomic Energy Comission issues a secret document (Document 07075001, January 8, 1947) stating that the agency will begin administering intravenous doses of radioactive substances to human subjects. The CIA begins its study of LSD as a potential weapon for use by American intelligence. Human subjects (both civilian and military) are used with and without their knowledge. 1950 Department of Defense begins plans to detonate nuclear weapons in desert areas and monitor downwind residents for medical problems and mortality rates. In an experiment to determine how susceptible an American city would be to biological attack, the U.S. Navy sprays a cloud of bacteria from ships over San Franciso. Monitoring devices are situated throughout the city in order to test the extent of infection. Many residents become ill with pneumonia-like symptoms. 1951 Department of Defense begins open air tests using disease-producing bacteria and viruses. Tests last through 1969 and there is concern that people in the surrounding areas have been exposed. 1953 U.S. military releases clouds of zinc cadmium sulfide gas over Winnipeg, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Fort Wayne, the Monocacy River Valley in Maryland, and Leesburg, Virginia. I am aware of the other similar reports filtering in from around the country, and I am having a difficult time believing that the purpose of these manuevers is a benevolent one. There are facilities available for training these guys for urban activities. The above rhetorical question is asked in the introduction to a
most unusual book, sent to me by a reader of Conspiracy Nation.

Yes, I know that the grave of Jesse James was recently dug open
and that the body therein had DNA tests run on it. And yes, I
know that the DNA tests prove that it was *really* Jesse James
buried in Jesse James' grave. But maybe they are lying to us, or
a further hoax was put in operation against the scientists doing
the DNA tests. (The original alleged hoax is that Jesse James
faked his death in St. Joseph, Missouri on April 3rd, 1882.)
Here is the story, as alleged in the book. It is left to the
reader to determine -- Who is hoaxing who?
Right after the Civil War, Jesse James supposedly got in a knife
fight with a Mexican. Before James stabbed him dead, the Mexican
bit off part of his finger. This becomes important later on, as
an identifier.
Jesse James was reportedly part of a secret society, "The Knights
of the Golden Circle." According to Norma Cox, in her book, *The
New Spoilers*, Jesse James is also linked with the notorious
Albert Pike. Cox has the 12 charter members of the Golden Circle
as including Jefferson Davis, Bedford Forrest, Jesse James, and
William Quantrill. Some say Albert Pike was the creator of the
Knights of the Golden Circle, but Cox doubts it. "Important to
remember about such secret organizations is the fact that only
the men at the top know the truth..." (Cox, 5)
Because James and his gang were being hotly pursued by lawmen
(and the heat was increasing due to copycat crimes being
routinely attributed to the James gang), Jesse James allegedly
arranged to fake his death. But one of his gang, an illiterate
black named John Trammell, decided he'd leave a coded message
hinting at the truth. Trammell, according to Schrader's book,
got some wet bricks, and a friend helped him scratch some
messages into them before they dried. One brick "contained an
image of a Spanish dagger, the numerals 777, KGC [Knights of the
Golden Circle] and JJ [Jesse James]..." Trammell reportedly
buried the bricks in St. Joseph, Missouri, and later exclaimed,
"Just wait 'til they find them St. Joe bricks!" (The alleged
bricks were discovered in 1966.)
It is known (*Come Retribution* by William A. Tidwell; ISBN:
0-7607-0381-7) that the Confederacy had a sophisticated covert
intelligence apparatus, a sort of "secret service." The
uninformed bias might be that the Confederate spy agency could
not possibly be as sophisticated as, for example, the "modern"
CIA. In some ways that's true, for example in the area of
electronics. But in other ways -- like cunning, common sense,
and a limited but superior level of classical education (of
deep-down learning) -- don't be so sure that we "moderns" are
smarter than our forebears. Yes, our ancestors did not have the
"advantages" we have, like television and a state-controlled
"education" apparatus.But it is our own conceit that
unreflectingly assumes we "moderns" *must* be "so much smarter"
than those who came before.
So maybe some things have been slipped by us.
Almost immediately after James' "death" in 1882, rumors began
surfacing that he was still alive. Eleven days after the
supposed event, the Liberty Tribune reported:
Certain parties still aver that Jesse James is not dead,
and intimate that the man killed and buried was not Jesse,
but someone inveigled into Jesse's house and killed, to get
the reward [of $10,000]. Such a conclusion would implicate
Mrs. James, Mrs. Samuels, Governor Crittenden, Sheriff
Timberlake, Police Commissioner Craig and others in a
scheme of fraud and perjury. We believe nothing of the
kind and have no doubt of Jesse's death. (qtd. in Schrader)
But Governor Crittenden, according to Schrader, was a good friend
of Jesse James, and "Mrs. James" was *not* really Mrs. James, but
a Mrs. Bigelow. She was of questionable repute, and was bribed
to give out a fake story. The whole "identification" of the
corpse and subsequent hasty burial was rigged, says Schrader.

Florida, but family members were told by National Guard and other military they came in contact with that the actual number of deaths was much larger, by the thousands. If the slave is to be surrendered, it can be of but little consequence to him or to others by which authority it is done. And should any one in any case be content that his oath shall go unkept on a merely unsubstantial controversy as to HOW it shall be kept? Again, in any law upon this subject, ought not all the safeguards of liberty known in civilized and humane jurisprudence to be introduced, so that a free man be not, in any case, surrendered as a slave? This was the notion that the federal system had become intrinsically corrupt...Thomas Jefferson pointed to this in his Letter of Protest he wrote for the Virginia Legislature (which was suppressed to my recollection, but is in some of his collected writings). According to one website he did attend a catholic school early on in Kentucky (unbeknownst to many, a Catholic stronghold) but his bios I've found are conflicting and one can never discount false histories being passed as truth. The story of "Father O'Reilly's saving the downtown churches of Atlanta from Gen'l Sherman" comes to mind. One said his parents were both Welsh immigrants (which would foreclose any likelihood of their being RC), another went on as to how faithful a Christian he was but did not specify his communion. That none I found specifies his denomination does lend credence to the notion he might have been. Why have none claimed him? Perhaps his notoriety? In any event our Founders were definitely not Papists and the Carroll family the lady mentions started in Calvert County Maryland long before the papist colony was settled in west Georgia. I'd need to see substantiation for the claim of "old Southern families" being RC, as I have the RCC's 1855 census of the US and their presence in the South was statistically insignificant. Gonzales, D-Tx. had enormous integrity and hopefully his son will follow in his footsteps. Gonzales spoke openly on C-Span about what we were actually doing in Panama in the '80's. It was quite shocking. He was accused by opponents of revealing classified material on national TV and there was an effort to stop C-Span after that. Former Senator Mitchell worked hard with the Amabssador of Ireland (one of the Kennedy sisters) to bring about peace. Senator Edward Kennedy has pushed for valuable legislation to improve healthcare. Jo Kennedy D-Ma tried to stop the "School of the Americas" and privately runs a low cost utilities company to provide energy to the poor. There are more good people in public office. Head of the Rosslyn Chapel committee is the head of the Roslin Institute, a nearby Scientific Complex where Dolly the sheep was Cloned. This Institute has made positive noises towards human cloning. A centre currently being expanded by new roads and infra red surveillance. Half a mile from the Chapel and Castle is Rosslyn Lee Mental Hospital opened in Victorian times. Rosslyn [aka Rose-line as in the alchemical rose] is ten miles south of Edinburgh, Scotlands capital, and a line taken North on a map through Edinburgh - [head of the Lion - summit of Arthurs Seat] - and continued North will pass through several abbeys and cathedrals on its way up the east coast of Scotland. One or two miles north of Roslin is Polton, a former mining community now featuring an industrial warehouse complex. 1 mile Further up the river Esk [which means snake] from Roslin is Hawthornden castle allegedly linked by tunnel to Roslin - this castle is owned by the Heinz food consortium. The valley of the Esk is famous for its pagan worship and stone carvings and is reputed as a power centre - where various piezo-electric fireballs are generated on a 'frequent' basis by the fault movement in the basalt rock. In the 1960's the local police at Polton village had a problem. The neighbourhood was complaining of 'funny' goings on and many folk were disturbed by strange events. So much so, that the local policeman, an ex-army footsoldier who had seen action in the jungles of malaysia - aged 37 - was so spooked that he took an alsation dog with him on night patrol. In the 1970's, the activities of a black magic coven operating in the Roslin woods who ritually slaughtered sheep and drunk the blood spurred the neighbourhood to reach for their shotguns. The Legend of the BIG Black Dog of Rosslyn Glen goes back to the Middle Ages - and this fiersome creature is seen to haunt the woods and valley at Roslin today. Its red eyes are apparently a feature according to a Rosslyn Historian. In the 1980's, the neighbourhood was anxious about spooky sounds and happenings around Polton railway tunnel - a 20 yard tunnel for a single track railway line. In the mid nineties, three painter decorators obtained the keys to a Polton warehouse from a friend to pay the paint warehouse a nocturnal visit to stock up on paint for a job the next day. They opened up the gate and started to drive their car in. They noticed someone presumed to be the night watchman on the roof of the warehouse. As they watched, he changed shape into a 7 foot tall wolf- featured humanoid. It spotted them and leaped off the roof into the yard. At which point, it started to charge towards their car. In a fit of terror, the men reversed at high speed out the yard and drove off. The three men were so terrified that they then lost their place in life, taking nervous breakdowns and losing their jobs. If this is true of the 3 men - and the 3 witnesses were interviewed by Garry Woods a prominent media figure and UFO researcher, then it would appear that the mystery of Rosslyn; with its devotion to Bloodlines, Blood worship, Genetics, Occult, Lunacy, Satanism, Animism [there are over 140 'green men' in Rosslyn Chapel] a place thought to be the ultimate connection to God and the 'new messiah' - near Edinburgh - a City with Seven Hills [ref. Sophisticated cybercrooks caused well over $100 million in losses last year, and the trend toward professional computer crime is on the rise. In its fourth annual survey, the San Francisco-based Computer Security Institute reported Friday that corporations, banks, and government agencies all face a growing threat from computer crime--committed both inside and outside their organizations. It is clear that computer crime and other information security breaches pose a growing threat to U.S. economic competitiveness and the rule of law in cyberspace, the survey said. It is also clear that the financial cost is tangible and alarming. The survey, conducted jointly by the CSI and the FBI's San Francisco Computer Crime Squad, polled more than 500 information security professionals. Almost one-third of the respondents reported that outsiders had penetrated their computer systems in the past year, most frequently through an Internet connection. While about half of the respondents acknowledged that the computer break-ins resulted in financial losses, 163 organizations, or a third of those polled, could say how much money had been lost--$123 million for them alone. The most serious losses occurred through the theft of proprietary information and financial fraud, the survey said, although it added that other computer crimes ranged from data sabotage to laptop theft. Not Just Teen Terrors CSI Director Patrice Rapalus said indications of rising levels of computer crime belied the popular notion of computer hackers as bored teenagers looking for a little excitement. It's not simply teenagers coming in and spray-painting a Web page, Rapalus said. It's not just the stereotypical hacker. People are seeing financial losses due to various different kinds of attacks. Going Public In an encouraging note, the CSI study found a dramatic increase in the number of computer security breaches that had been officially reported to law enforcement--a sign that the problem was being taken seriously. They are more aware of the problem, Rapalus said. Souder A student-led campaign that seeks to overturn a controversial provision in the Higher Education Act of 1998 gained momentum this week as college newspapers from across the nation ran stories, and a Republican congressman who was instrumental in passing the provision responded with faulty statistics and an ad hominem attack against DRCNet in the University of Virginia's newspaper, the Cavalier Daily. A provision in the HEA, signed into law by President Clinton on October 7, will deny or delay eligibility for federal financial aid for any student convicted of a drug offense, no matter how minor. Students on more than 100 campuses are already participating in a campaign, coordinated by DRCNet, to have the law overturned. Students are seeking the endorsements of their student governments for a resolution calling on the 106th Congress to repeal the provision. Thus far, the resolution has been presented to five student

Gonzales, D-Tx. had enormous integrity and hopefully his son will follow in his footsteps. Gonzales spoke openly on C-Span about what we were actually doing in Panama in the '80's. It was quite shocking. He was accused by opponents of revealing classified material on national TV and there was an effort to stop C-Span after that. Former Senator Mitchell worked hard with the Amabssador of Ireland (one of the Kennedy sisters) to bring about peace. Senator Edward Kennedy has pushed for valuable legislation to improve healthcare. Jo Kennedy D-Ma tried to stop the "School of the Americas" and privately runs a low cost utilities company to provide energy to the poor. There are more good people in public office. They are not all bad, greedy pond scum, IMHO. Samantha No Republicans on your list of "good guys" is there Samantha. Not saying there ARE any just pointing it out. Now there are exceptions to every rule, BUT I would remind you that just because someone wants good health care or exposes CIA abuses it does not mean they aren't working a back door deal with some other joker, now does it? I'm not saying it does either, BUT you seem to be in the same happy boat with Prudy when it comes to the Democrats being all wonderful and nice, and if one of them says boo to some bugaboo of yours then they are "fighting the good fight". Could I urge you to go beyond your limited viewpoint, and I will try to go beyond mine as well by saying that there MAY be someone in public office that actually is a good person and who is not dirty and is not taking money from some special interest in order to shaft a bunch of people, AND that person may even carry the Democrat moniker! But please look beyond the simplistic just a little and recognize that there is a lot more to what is going on in Washington than makes it into the press, and that some of your vaunted Democrats may not be all you think they are. Enoch144 Saturday October 25 4:35 PM EDT Judge OKs religious ban of Social Security Numbers LOS ANGELES, Oct. 25 (UPI) _ A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has ruled in favor of five men who refused to supply their Social Security numbers on driver's license applications because of their religious beliefs. Judge Diane Wayne said she based her ruling on the men's ``sincerely held religious convictions ..that anyone who uses his or her Social Security number is in danger of not receiving eternal life.'' As a result, the California Department of Motor Vehicles will be forced to accommodate the men, who believe the numbers are the ``mark of the beast'' referred to in the Bible's Book of Revelations. California residents involved in the suit were Michael Bromley of Mojave, James Clifford Brunson of Quartz Hill, Leo Guglielmo of West Hills and Paul Villandry of Littlerock. A fifth man, Steven Jones, currently lives in Idaho. Some evangelical Christians believe the biblical end of the world will be characterized, in part, as a time in which those without an identifying mark or number will not be able to participate in commerce. They believe this is the number or mark of the anti-Christian beast. Villandry says ``If I'm locked into that number, I'm going to hell.'' The Los Angeles Times says this is the first court decision to declare that a driver's license applicant can refuse to give the DMV a Social Security number for religious reasons. But prosecutors say they'll appeal the ruling on the grounds that a universal driver's license application is needed because it's used to track parents who are delinquent in child support payments.
