(Khilafah) so that the ruling by what Allah (SWT) revealed
  returns.
The Divine Duties Upon Group(s):
The divine
  duties which have been obliged by Allah (SWT) upon any Islamic
  group are:
Al-Dawa
  To Al-Khair :  To call Society to the Ideology (Deen)
  of Islam i.e. the Creed and System of life (Shari'ah).
Al-Amer
  Bil-Ma'rouf: To command society to do the duties (Al-Ma'rouf)
  which Allah (SWT) has ordered.
One of
  the highest duties is to work for the domination of Islam
  through establishing the Islamic authority (Khilafah).Al-Nahie
  Ann Al-Munkar: To command society to refrain from doing the
  evil (Al-Munkar) which Allah (SWT) Forbids. One of the biggest
  evils is the domination of  man-made law (Kufr) or any law
  not derived from the divine text i.e. the Quran and Sunnah.

NB:
  The definition of society is: the continuous transactions
  between people (Muslim or non Muslim) managed by an authority
  (i.e. rulers or state dept's etc.) .
Therefore
  if the transactions of the people become bad the group must
  command them to do the good and to refrain from doing the
  evil. And if the actions of the authority (rulers, state dept's.
  etc.) become bad or if they fail to do their duties the group
  must account them by ordering them to do the good and to refrain
  from doing the evil.
The
  Divine Duties Upon Al-Muhajiroun:
Therefore
  the divine duties upon Al-Muhajiroun wherever they are resident
  are:
Calling
  society to Islam (i.e. its belief and systems)
Challenging
   exposing  man-made law (Kufr) in society
Establishing
  the Islamic authority (Al-Khilafah).

  For The Divine Duties: The evidence for these being duties
  upon any Islamic group is crystal clear and not open to any

[These five have not been deported as was expected on Sept 18 when
the last news appeared about them. Now the mother of one of them, who
has been shrieking to the press since the beginning, claims that they
were not on a Jersey City rooftop on Sept 11, taking pictures and
shouting with joy as the towers burned and collapsed, but that they
were actually arrested in the George Washington Bridge white van
incident. (Readers will recall THAT incident was later said to have
really been a white van in the NJ Meadowlands, nowhere near and
having nothing to do with the GWB.) We'll probably never know, but at
least it seems that the Fabulous But Incompetent have not just let
the Israelis all run home to Mommy.

Mom is lucky her precious boy isn't experiencing the conditions
Palestinian prisoners endure in Israel. She is complaining about
conditions at the MCC (probably the story is in error about their
whereabouts. The Manhattan Federal Correction Center is where they
are keeping most of their Arab hostages swept up in New York City
during the post-911 racist hysteria.)

Five Israelis Held in New York

Five young Israelis are on the verge of collapse, according to
family members, as their incarceration in New York on charges
relating to the Bin Laden attacks continues. They were arrested on
Sept. 11, only hours after the World Trade Center attack, on charges
of plotting to blow up a New York bridge.

Katie Shmuel of the Galilee town of Yokne'am, southeast of Haifa,
says that her son Yaron is in a very critical psychological
situation, given that they are not allowed to have visitors and the
difficult conditions in which they are being held. Even the Israeli
Consul-General in New York was allowed to visit only after asking
several times and receiving a special permit, Katie told Arutz-7's
Yosef Zalmanson today. He was allowed to talk to them only in
English, and only from behind a glass partition. The Consul told me
that the boys are in a bad state and that they are being held under
difficult conditions.

When asked why the five youths, aged 22-26, are being held, Katie
replied with despair: It's ludicrous. They were on the George
Washington Bridge [between upper Manhattan and New Jersey] at the
time of the bombing, and the FBI had warnings of a terrorist plot, of
guys in a white van, to blow up the bridge. So when the FBI saw this
van, with my son and his four friends -- one of them had a large sum of
money, there were two razor knives in the van, and one of the boys is
named Omer, which the FBI guys thought was Omar -- they put one and
one together and got three, and immediately arrested them... For the
first few days, the boys were held in an FBI dungeon, tied up, with
no clothes and no food. She said that original reports that they had
been arrested while boisterously watching the disaster from a rooftop
are totally fabricated. For one thing, they weren't even on a roof,
they were in a van...

When asked how she explains her son's continued incarceration and
that of his friends, she said, I truly have no explanation for this
incredible story - except this: The Americans are using them as pawns
to pressure the Israeli government. Am I being clear enough? She
said that President Moshe Katzav and others had attempted to
intervene, but there have been no results so far. The youths are
being held in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

A spokesperson for the Israeli Consulate in New York told Arutz-7
that in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks, the Americans now have
different procedures for dealing with the detention of anyone
arrested in connection with the attacks. Every single request of ours
must go through the FBI and the State Department's legal team. She
said, We are doing as much as we possibly can on their behalf,
including, she said, getting local Jewish leaders involved in the
cause of the imprisoned young Israelis.

This month, Nov. 16-19, at Ft Benning, Georgia the School of America Watch is having a protest. Their web site is:

I will be going and am encouraging as many people to do so as possible. Personally, I am nauseated at the use and repetitiveness of the word, "Evil" by our selected leader. The program at Ft. Benning is the epitome of that word, to me.

On January 17, 2001 the SOA was replaced by the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHISC).  

This was a smoke screen. The charter is the same. The goal is the same. Create terrorist to foment destabilization in regions that, after a hundred years, we still can't win the hearts and minds of their indigenous peoples. The list of graduates is a litany of despots, thugs and murderers.

I do not see how our administration can, with a straight face, talk about routing out terrorism while maintaining the program at Ft. Benning in Columbus, Georgia. 

I think that it will be interesting to see what security measures the government takes this year. I will be video taping the event. Hopefully the "first amendment" zone will not be Atlanta, a hundred miles away from there.

 VIENNA: A substance that can destroy anthrax within seconds and could
revolutionise the
 fight against bio-terrorism has been discovered in Austria, scientists
said here

 The spray acts as an anthrax disinfectant, killing anthrax spores in
envelopes, on
 surfaces, on the skin and even in the nose, scientist Apostolos
Georgopolous of Vienna
 General Hospital told AFP. If it passes tests by Austrian health
authorities, the spray
 could revolutionise the treatment of suspicious powders which have
brought government
 offices, media centres and airports across the world to a standstill
since the terrorist
 attacks on the United States of September 11.

 While anthrax scares currently mean whole buildings have to be
evacuated, the new spray
 could decontaminate the room where a suspicious powder is found without
affecting the
 rest of the building, according to Austrian state health office
spokesman Martin Glier.

 The new substance was used in Vienna General Hospital as a disinfectant
for some
 months before doctors decided to test it to see if it killed anthrax
bacteria as well last
 weekend, Georgopoulos explained. We have found that in practice it is
very easy to
 handle and that it works very well on anthrax, you just spray it on a
surface or an
 envelope and then it's gone. You can even spray it on skin or in the
nose, he said.

 Austrian health authorities are running tests on the substance to see
if it can be
 marketed to a wider audience to deal with anthrax alerts. We are doing
our best to
 speed up the process, Glier said.

 Since the anthrax scare started with the October 5 death of a photo
editor in Florida,
 two postal workers in Washington have died and another 12 people have
been infected
 with the disease.

  but systematically try to reconcile the unsynchronized cycles of
  Terra, Luna, Sol, planets and stars.  Then people [individually or
  in groups] assign arbitrary but systematic meanings to various of
  the points of those calendars.  Then people [who haven't noticed
  the arbitrary but systematic nature of their calendars] register
  more-or-less strong emotions when certain cycles intersect, with
  some of those arbitrarily- but systematically-assigned meanings

 We've finally given liberals a war against fundamentalism, and they
 don't want to fight it. They would, except it would put them on the
 same side as the United States.

 With the media suffering from fainting spells, the country is being
 run by people who can splice cables and land jets on ships in the
 dark of night. These are men, a subspecies of Americans heretofore
 invisible to the elites. But now the elites are complaining that the
 men aren't working fast enough.

 Not exactly smashing stereotypes of liberals as mincing pantywaists, the
 left's entire contribution to the war effort thus far has been to whine. In
 lieu of a military response against terrorists abroad and security preca
 utions at home, liberals would like to get the whole thing over with and just
 throw Jerry Falwell in jail.

 Walter Cronkite, better known as president of the Ho Chi Minh Veneration
 Society, has compared the Rev. Falwell to the Taliban. In response to
 Falwell's comment that gay marriage and abortion on demand may not have warmed
 the heart of the Almighty, Cronkite proclaimed it the most abominable thing
 I've ever heard.

 Showing the dispassion and critical judgment that earned him the moniker the
 most pious blowhard in America, this self-serving, multimillionaire Martha's
 Vineyard boob accused Falwell of worshipping the same God as the
 people who bombed the Trade Center and the Pentagon.

 Liberals compare Jerry Falwell to the Taliban, but then are furious with
 George Bush for not being Jesus Christ. Evidently, what a president is
 supposed to do when the girls are scared is develop complete omniscience and
 omnipotence. Thus, the media repeatedly expound upon the proposition that what
 Bush should have done in response to the anthrax mailings is: Instantly
 produce the culprits and put an end to this madness!

 The New York Times has been issuing daily harangues on this point. The cover
 story of last Sunday's Week in Review section (Efforts to Calm the Nation's
 Fears Spin Out of Control) lectured Bush: People in the grip of f
 ear want information that holds up, not spin control.

 Men are out in the driving rain trying to change a tire, while the womenfolk
 sit in a warm roadside cafe demanding to know what's taking so long. Just pipe
 down! The men are working as fast as they can.

 In fact, no one is in the grip of fear over anthrax except the media and
 their most gullible targets, liberal women. Liberal soccer moms are precisely
 as likely to receive anthrax in the mail as to develop a capacity fo

 Five young Israelis are on the verge of collapse, according to
 family members, as their incarceration in New York on charges
 relating to the Bin Laden attacks continues. They were arrested on
 Sept. 11, only hours after the World Trade Center attack, on charges
 of plotting to blow up a New York bridge.

 Katie Shmuel of the Galilee town of Yokne'am, southeast of Haifa,
 says that her son Yaron is in a very critical psychological
 situation, given that they are not allowed to have visitors and the
 difficult conditions in which they are being held. Even the Israeli
 Consul-General in New York was allowed to visit only after asking
 several times and receiving a special permit, Katie told Arutz-7's
 Yosef Zalmanson today. He was allowed to talk to them only in
 English, and only from behind a glass partition. The Consul told me
 that the boys are in a bad state and that they are being held under
 difficult conditions.

 When asked why the five youths, aged 22-26, are being held, Katie
 replied with despair: It's ludicrous. They were on the George
 Washington Bridge [between upper Manhattan and New Jersey] at the
 time of the bombing, and the FBI had warnings of a terrorist plot, of
 guys in a white van, to blow up the bridge. So when the FBI saw this
 van, with my son and his four friends -- one of them had a large sum of
 money, there were two razor knives in the van, and one of the boys is
 named Omer, which the FBI guys thought was Omar -- they put one and
 one together and got three, and immediately arrested them... For the
 first few days, the boys were held in an FBI dungeon, tied up, with
 no clothes and no food. She said that original reports that they had
 been arrested while boisterously watching the disaster from a rooftop
 are totally fabricated. For one thing, they weren't even on a roof,
 they were in a van...

 that of his friends, she said, I truly have no explanation for this

Instead of fearing death, they crave it.

If they run from a battle, it is not to escape attack but rather to sucker
their enemy into chasing them.

Many lurk patiently inside a labyrinthine network of caves and tunnels,
waiting for the day that American troops come looking for them.

To make one wrong move against the estimated 50,000 fighters of
Afghanistan's Taliban movement is to risk disaster, according to military
experts who are versed in the militia's fighting strategies. There are no
good ways to fight them, the experts say, but many ways to be beaten by
them.

As the US military moves into the expected next stage in its Afghanistan
war - stepped-up ground assaults - strategists face some perplexing
questions regarding the unusual enemy they now confront.

The Taliban and its mostly Arab ally, al-Qaeda, possess such a potent
mixture of ruthlessness, patience, and guerrilla tactical skills that they
are proving to be the most formidable fighting force the US has faced
since the ill-fated US war in Vietnam.

They are proven to be tough warriors, said Rear Admiral John
Stufflebeem, Pentagon deputy director of operations for current readiness
and capabilities. We're in an environment they, obviously, are experts
in, and it is extremely harsh. I am a bit surprised at how doggedly
they're hanging on to power.

Pentagon and independent military strategists are so confounded by Taliban
and al-Qaeda tactics, they are turning to a new doctrine, called
fourth-generation warfare, to help identify ways to fight them,
according to the independent group Defence and the National Interest.

The doctrine focuses on warfare beyond the earlier generations of classic
infantry and guerrilla combat, where borders, armies, and a clash of
political philosophies tended to shape the way wars were fought and
resolved.

Fourth generation, according to the group, includes all forms of
conflict where the other side refuses to stand up and fight fair.

Typical of any fourth-generation movement such as the Taliban and
al-Qaeda, Defence and the National Interest says, is its ability largely
to sidestep conventional fighting forces.

It is a strange form of warfare, one where military force plays a much
smaller (though still critical) role.

The US record in Afghanistan since it began attacking with massive air
power on October 7 underscores the point of how conventional military
force does not work against the Taliban, said retired Pakistani General
Talat Masood.

I don't think they're doing anything incorrectly, he said of US military
strategists, but still, the Taliban has not retreated.

Three weeks of intense, round-the-clock bombardment - reportedly using
thousands of cruise missiles, laser-guided rockets, cluster bombs,
bunker-busting bombs, and hundreds of sorties by F-14s, Stealth bombers,
attack helicopters, and AC-130 gunships - seems not to have dramatically
altered the balance on the ground in Afghanistan, said Rifaat Hussain, a
respected Pakistani military analyst.

The opposition Northern Alliance finds itself stalled in an assault on two
frontline cities - Kabul and Mazar-e Sharif - whose capture would be
crucial in setting the stage for a larger US ground assault. Without
securing one of those cities, the US would have no established air bases
where it could land ground troops.

Even though the US spent the last week bombing the Taliban front line in
support of the Northern Alliance, the hard-line Muslim fighting force has
held its ground and, in some cases, forced the Northern Alliance to
retreat.

And despite a much-touted ground assault by more than 100 US special
forces troops, Pakistani military analysts noted that there have been no
US claims of success on the ground - and no additional reported ground
forays.

Key to Taliban and al-Qaeda survival against overwhelming US force is the
element of surprise. The groups are said to control a vast network of
caves and tunnels that riddle the Afghan countryside.

Yvonne Ridley, a British journalist who was captured by the Taliban in
late September and released just after the bombing campaign began, said
she got a first hand look at the network of hiding places at the Taliban's
disposal.

Her account, published in the Sunday Express newspaper after her release,
provides a narrative about green plains, rivers and reservoirs,
magnificent mountains and literally hundreds of foxholes and caves. I
realise that President Bush's threat to 'smoke them out' is highly
unrealistic and futile.

A Pakistani who trained in Afghanistan in 1992 and remains active in a
Muslim militia allied with al-Qaeda said that the network of caves and
tunnels is not only intricate but also heavily fortified.

The bunkers are very, very deep. They are very secure, said the man,
whose name is being withheld to protect him from possible retribution for
speaking to a reporter. The Pakistani said

Osama, In American Hospital, Meets With CIA Just Prior to 911

The Indiareacts article demonstrates the war against the Taliban was being
planned approximately 4 months or more before the 911 attack. Our source is
India, Pakistan, and the British via BBC. Now from France comes yet another
acknowledgement of prior knowledge and, this time, more directly implies
actual complicity in the attack itself by the United States government. We
might well ask why these multiple news stories, all carried in the media of
our allies in Americaís New War, are not picked up by our freedom loving
people who work in the American press, a press owned by our freedom loving
people we otherwise know as major military contractors.

Three different French media outlets, one being Radio France International,
one the print media, Le Figero, which is a much longer and more detailed
story, and the third a simplified English text version by the Agence
France-Presse (Paris) article of Oct. 31, Bin Laden treated for kidney
disorder in Dubai. All tell essentially the same basic story, one which
proves concretely that bin Laden and CIA were still incestuously doing
favors for each other just weeks before the 911 attack, and further
demonstrates prior knowledge, if not outright planning of 911 by the US
Government. Consider, if the US was planning the war in expectation of
911-like events caused by bin Laden months before the attack, why would the
US be talking nicely with bin Laden in an American hospital roughly two
months later - unless fully complicit in the attacks? The importance of the
story is outlined, here, the extra details from the longer Le Figero
piece...

  1) Osama bin Laden left from Quetta in Pakistan and flew covertly by
private Saudi jet with no registered flight plans to Abu Dubai, Saudi Arabia
on or about July 4, accompanied by his lieutenant Ayman Al-Zawahari, and
Egyptian, and four bodyguards, an Egyptian Doctor and male Algerian nurse.

This tells us that both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have lied about their
legal and political stance on Osama bin Laden, and remain cordial to him
despite claimed revocation of his Saudi citizenship and deportation by the
Saudi Royal Family. This is NOT contrary to US policy as it might seem, as
we will shortly see.  Rather, it is WITH US BLESSINGS.

2) There he checked into the American Hospital of Dubai for a ten-day
treatment of renal infection by 'very famous' American Doctor, Terry
Calloway. It turns out that Osama has kidney failure and requires the use of
a portable dialysis machine (ironically, invented by my Father in Law.)
Acute renal failure can occur when such machines are not properly used and
for other reasons, often requiring immediate hospitalization. Doctor
Calloway has refused all calls by media.

This tells us we have been lied to once more - that Osama bin Laden is NOT
likely to be hiding in caves unless they happen to have access to
dependable, stable 110/220v power, and access to filtered water and
chemicals required to operate a dialysis machine. A person on dialysis is
extremely ëfixedí in place, and cannot simply get up and run in an air raid
or other attack.

  3) While in the hospital, Osama bin Laden was visited in private for a
period by a known CIA agent who subsequently spoke openly (they use the word
ëbraggedí) of the meeting, and as result was immediately recalled to
Washington, D.C.

This tells us several things: a) Despite being declared by the United States
as a wanted terrorist for the 1998 bombings of US Embassies in Kenya and
Tanzania, Osama bin Laden is still very much likely to be on the payroll of
CIA - perhaps a double agent;  b) as a double agent, the Saudi and Pakistani
cooperative stance towards Osama would make more sense; c) someone in
Washington, D.C. was well aware of the situation and extending additional
protections and sanctions to Osama bin Laden by recalling the talkative
Agent; d) if the recall was indeed to Washington, D.C., instead of Langley,
Va. (CIA headquarters), then it must be presumed that the military
(DOD/Pentagon) or White House is the source of these sanctions and
protections; e) that if Osama did blow up the American Embassies, it was
with the blessing of the US Government for unclear reasons - (see note.); f)
if giving blessings to blowing up American

PAUL BONNACCI won a $1 million civil judgment against KING for satanic ritual

when it settled out of court to pay TW's pitbull lawyer, LOUIS KIEFER, a
reported judgment of $300,000 ( in 1997 or 1998, I believe). Thereafter they
avoided mentioning name of TW and repeated the mantra that no court had
proven LINDA WIEGAND's allegations, while ignoring the legal manipulations of
KIEFER to keep the testimony and allegations of her two boys ot of court.

The trial in ENFIELD was reported more objectively in the small town
newspaper, THE JOURNAL. When the results of the MASSAMENO REPORT were posted

 explaining who Jayna Davis is and how you got
 involved with her?

 A: This is a strange story. At the time of the
 April 19, 1995, Oklahoma City bombing, Jayna
 Davis was an investigative reporter for, I think it
 was a CBS outlet down there.

 Q: It was an NBC station, KFOR-TV.

 A: OK, NBC in Oklahoma City. She
 immediately began an investigation to
 determine whether or not there was any
 Mideastern connection. At the time, she started
 out probably within minutes of the explosion,
 and she did a job the likes of which I have never
 seen. This woman is probably one of the
 greatest investigators I've ever worked with.
 After I came back from Washington, a lot of
 people wrote me letters. Some of them were
 complimentary  some of them were not
 complimentary. In fact, some of them were
 anything but complimentary. However, she
 wrote me a letter and made some statement like,
 I have information about the Oklahoma City
 bombing and a Middle Eastern connection.

 Q: And what was your reaction?

 A: Well, very honestly, I just kind of put it
 aside. I wrote everybody back that sent
 something with a return address, and it was just
 kind of thank you very much, and so on and
 so forth. She wrote back and enclosed some
 material from her investigation. She asked that I
 just please read this and call me. I read it,
 and then I did call her. She said, You've just
 seen the tip of the iceberg. I have a lot more.
 Would you be interested in looking at it? I told
 her, Why don't you go to the FBI or to the
 people who are interested?

 Q: Guess what, David?

 A: Yeah, she said, I went to the FBI with
 everything I have here, and they refused to take
 it. This was long before the McVeigh trial. So I
 said, Why don't you send it up to me? She
 said, I'm not going to send it up. I will bring it
 up. So she and her husband  and they are not
 rich people  got on an airplane and flew up
 here to Chicago. They brought three large  I
 mean thick, probably six-inch thick binders 
 and a tape of all her material that she had aired
 during the course of her investigation. The tape
 itself is fascinating. And it showed me that there
 was something more than just the usual crazy
 what do you call it 

 Q: Conspiracy theory?

 A: Yes. In fact, that was my first thought. Here
 we go again, you know. Another goofy
 conspiracy theory saying it was a big conspiracy
 and saying the CIA was involved and all that
 type of stuff.

 Q: And?

 A: When she brought that stuff up, and I started
 reading it  these were not just dreams. These
 were affidavits from people. I saw the warning
 that was issued about the bombing. I saw the
 affidavits. I saw evidence that there were nine
 security cameras that picked up the people
 running from the place before the bombing. I
 found out that the FBI had seized all those films,
 and no one has ever seen them. That's how I got
 to meet her and to know her.

This incident parallels arrest and conviction of YALE professor ANTONIO
LASAGA this year for possession of child pornography, including videos of
children filmed during sex acts on campus where he was headmaster at SAYBROOK
dormitory. He was reported by graduate students for suspicious downloading of
child pornography and essentially caught in the act.

LASAGA had been a mentor to young boy thru NEW HAVEN community progam, while
his wife was a volunteer with CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES. Now YALE and this
program are defendants in
civil suit by boys parents. I have written to staff of YALE HERALD and will
contact family's attorney about this matter.

The involvement of this prominent professor in pedophilia raises many
questions since YALE is alma mater of pedophile BUSH family. He was
promted by YALE PRESIDENT RICHARD LEVIN to be headmaster at SAYBROOK and his
students could only express shock and disbelief at the charges.

I read about LASAGA while I was in CONNECTICUT for BO GRITZ trial, and

Furthermore, FATHER RITTER was a frequent guest at MACAULEY's estate in

The involvement of HK is significant, because as noted by MR DECAMP, its CEO
ROBERT KEITH GRAY was a close friend of HAROLD ANDERSEN, a principal in
FRANKLIN COVER UP, and also  reportedly a specialist in homosexual blackmail
operations. (pg 178) As CEO and chairman of one of th two largest PR firms
in the world, GRAY had such blue=chip clients as ATT, IBM, XEROX,and DUPONT.

After FATHER RITTER resigned from his position in 1991 without being arrested
or tried for his crimes, which included financial embezzlement, the
organization was taken over by honest people.

When I received solicitations for donations to BOYS TOWN and COVENANT HOUSE
last year, I responded with a letter asking if the same activities were still
ongoing. In regard to former, since FATHER VAL PETER, friend to LARRY KING
JR, was still its director, I already knew the answer to my question, but in
regard to latter I did not.

Neither organization responded to my letter, but further research taught me
that BRUCE HARRIS took over ALIANZA for COVENANT HOUSE in GUATAMALA, and that
as a result of his efforts to protect homeless children against right wing
death squads, he had to flee to COSTA RICA to save his life and the ongoin

VICE PRESIDENT GORE's choice of SENATOR
JOE LIEBERMAN as his running mate completes the picture of a satanic,

CLINTON's lack of moral character, I will examine whether he as a
BILDERBERGER has a vested interest in protecting this pedophile network in

LIEBERMAN, as an outspoken advocate of 'family values' and critic of
HOLLYWOOD excesses, finds much in common with BENNETT, co-founder of EMPOWER
AMERICA, which includes noted ZIONISTS JACK KEMP, JEANNE
KIRKPATRICK on its BOARD of DIRECTORS.
In this context he speaks as a conservative JEW, rather than a liberal
Democrat.

Ironically, WILLIAM 'BILL' BENNETT and his brother, ROBERT 'BOB' BENNETT,
CLINTON's MONICAGATE attorney, are natural allies of the pedophile dreamteam
ticket of GOVERNOR BUSH and DICK CHENEY. They are the designated heirs to the

How shall we then judge LIEBERMAN's criticism of CLINTON? Was his failure
more along the lines of embarrassing his party and the goals of THE
DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP COUNCIL (DLC) to fulfill the BILDERBERG agenda of
redefining the center of the Democratic Party?

CLINTON and GORE were co-founders of DLC
in 1985, while LIEBERMAN is its current CHAIRMAN. CLINTON ran and was elected

Students from the Terra Santa School in the old town of Jaffa,
adjacent to Tel Aviv, were on a field trip last week when their bus
stopped at a McDonald's restaurant in Beersheba for a lunch break.
Soon several buses of students from a Jewish school arrived, and--
upon hearing the younger Christian children speaking in Arabic--
provoked a fight that soon escalated to include the use of sticks,
stones, and knives.

Father Arturo Vasaturo, OFM, the pastor of the parish where the
Terra Santa School is located, protested that the adults supervising
the Jewish teenagers did not intervene to stop the beating, and
Israeli police who arrived to break up the melee refused to help the
victims identify their attackers.

Threatening letters mailed to the media before the World Trade Center attacks
- bearing striking similarities to the current anthrax-tainted letters - were
mailed from Indianapolis, where the deadly bacteria was discovered yesterday,
The Post has learned.

The pre-Sept. 11 letters were addressed in block letters that virtually match
the lettering on the anthrax-laced missives sent to Sen. Thomas Daschle, the
New York Post and NBC, law-enforcement sources said.

One source allowed The Post to see copies of envelopes from several of the
earlier letters.
Each line of the printed address clearly sloped downward to the right and the
handwriting eerily resembled that on the anthrax letters.

Federal investigators checked the return addresses on the letters, the
sources said, but none of them was real.

The return address on one letter - addressed to Fox News Channel's Bill
O'Reilly - listed the name of Sean Hannity, another FNC personality.

Despite the obvious twisted humor, that letter and about 15 more now are a
major focus of the far-flung federal probe, the sources say.

The similarities between the pre-Sept. 11 and post-Twin Tower disaster
letters has further fueled a theory at the FBI and Justice Department that
the anthrax scare is the work of a twisted home-grown menace rather than a
terrorist linked to state-sponsored action or Osama bin Laden.

Source say investigators are eyeing a number of groups, including radical
members of a pagan cult.

The Wiccan group fashions itself as modern-day witches seeking religious
freedom, but they are not known to be violent.

Investigators are probing whether a disturbed member of the group may have
taken a bizarre turn and is targeting the media and the government in
particular.

Indiana officials yesterday said that it was a coincidence they tested for -
and found - traces of anthrax in a facility that repairs parts from sorting
machines used by the U.S. Postal Service.

Inspectors initially started testing for the deadly bacteria in another
repair facility, in Topeka, Kan., after several workers experienced flu-like
symptoms, said Darla Stafford, spokeswoman for the Greater Indianapolis post
office.

She said inspectors then tested in Indianapolis as a precaution because parts
from an anthrax-affected post office in Washington, D.C. were recently
repaired there.

So, I guess anyone caught watching Bewitched may fall under the
Anti-Terrorism legislation as supporting terrorism? As many predicted, the
label terrorist is expanding, and will probably include just about all
alternative or non-mainstream groups in time.
Also, I don't understand how anthrax mailed prior to 9/11 would necessarily
lead the feds to think it was a domestic group.

Iraq has moved secret agents into Germany as part of illegal
people-smuggling operations, German authorities confirmed on
Wednesday.
The agents had been smuggled from eastern European
countries in an operation co-ordinated by Iraqi diplomats in
Prague, the Czech capital.
There is evidence that Iraqis with secret service backgrounds
have infiltrated Germany, helped by professional smuggling
gangs, according to a spokesman for Germany's Agency for
the Protection of the Constitution, Berlin's internal intelligence
authority.
The confirmation, and the connection to Prague, may reinforce
allegations of Iraqi involvement in the terrorist attacks in the
US in September.
Stanislav Gross, the Czech interior minister, said last week that
Mohammed Atta, one of the alleged ringleaders of the attacks,
met an Iraqi diplomat in Prague earlier this year.
The diplomat, Ahmad Khalil Ibrahim Samir al-Ani, was later
expelled from the Czech Republic for spying. Prague is
allegedly an important base for the Iraqi secret service.
The German internal intelligence agency had in 1999 identified
efforts by Iraq to move spies into the country, the spokesman
said. There's nothing to suggest that Iraq's approach has
changed since then, he added.
The main activity of Iraqi agents in Germany is to monitor
groups opposed to Saddam Hussein's regime, according to the
internal intelligence agency. No details were available on how
many spies may have entered Germany.
The illegal smuggling of nationals from Iraq, Afghanistan and
other countries via eastern Europe into Germany and other
parts of western Europe has become a main security concern in
recent years. The German-Czech border is a common crossing
point in this process.
A spokesperson for the BND, Germany's international secret
service, said the agency was investigating the problem and was
in contact with the Czech authorities.
German investigators into the terrorist attacks in September
have not published any evidence linking Iraq to the incidents.
Three of the hijackers, including Mr Atta, recently lived in the
northern city of Hamburg.
Some US officials, and other terrorism experts, have pointed to
links between the terrorism network of Osama bin Laden - the
chief suspect behind the attacks - and Iraq.
The Czech government confirmed last week that Mr Atta had
visited Prague at least twice. His most recent visit was by bus
from Germany, arriving in Prague on July 2. He left the city by
air for the US the following day.

These days most people have heard of Microsoft Corporation,
and its founder Bill Gates. The majority of computers in use today use
Microsoft system software, and those that do not often run applications from
Microsoft. However, few people know the true story behind the rise of
Microsoft and even fewer suspect the terrible cosmic secrets that are
concealed beneath the facade of a successful software company.

In the Object Linking and Embedding 2.0 Programmer's
Reference there is a very curious term. On page 78, the second paragraph
starts with the sentence, In the aggregation model, this internal
communication is achieved through coordination with a special instance of
IUnknown interface known as the controlling unknown of the aggregate. The
term controlling unknown is a very interesting choice of words. It is not
the most intuitively obvious term for what it is describing (a base class
used for implementing an object-oriented data exchange/embedding system).

A term strikingly similar to controlling unknown was the
term unknown superiors, used by many occult secret societies. These
included the Strict Observance Masonic lodge, whose members were sometimes
referred to as illuminati, and which had some connection with Adam
Weishaupt's order. Unknown superiors is a term that refers to
non-corporeal or superhuman agencies in command of secret societies or
mystery cults. Such an agency is frequently known as the inner head of an
order of organisation, as opposed to the outer head, who is human.

Organisations that claimed or were claimed to be commanded
by such unknown superiors include the Ordo Templi Orientis of Aleister
Crowley and the Knights Templar, whose Inner Head was apparently a being
named Baphomet.

Apart from the term controlling unknown, another hint at
the secrets behind Microsoft is the fact that Microsoft Windows has a limit
of five window device contexts. Five is a decidedly odd number for such an
application, being neither a power of two nor one less than a power of two,
but let us not forget Adam Weishaupt's discovery of the Law of Fives in the
Necronomicon*.

Few people for sure how many buildings there are in the
Microsoft campus in Redmond, WA. No maps of the entire facility are known to
exist. Some Microsoft employees put the estimate at six or three. An article
in an Australian newspaper has claimed that there are 22 buildings. That is
partly true; however, there is another building, hidden from the public and
even from most Microsoft employees. The twenty-third building, or Building
7, is pentagonal in shape; its exact location is known only to five people
(of whom Bill Gates may be one), however it is believed that the building is
accessible from elsewhere in the Microsoft campus by a secret passage.

What is in the five sided building is not known. However, it
is believed that the contents of Building 7 are of a supernatural nature.
Apart from the Pentagon, there was a similar five-sided building in Nazi
Germany. This has been carefully kept hidden from the public. One hypothesis
is that Building 7 is inhabited by, or used to communicate with, the Inner
Head, or controlling unknown. The identity of the Outer Head is unknown.

History Will Call Clinton To Account For Events That Lead Up To 9/11

Eight years of cover-up and drift by the Clinton Administration
weakened our military and compromised our internal security leading
to the supine position we presently find ourselves in. Clinton
failed, pure and simple, to respond to the growing international and
domestic terrorist threat. He did nothing when American targets were
hit overseas and ignored the burgeoning domestic terrorist network.
Clinton has a lot to answer for but, based on past evidence, it is
doubtful he or his entourage will ever be held accountable for
anything.
Attorney General, Janet Reno, ran interference for Clinton and his
corrupt administration by blocking and slowing down congressional
investigations. When Reno wasn´t protecting Clinton, or firebombing
private homes filled with children in Waco, she focused most of her
attention on environmental violators or hate criminals. Such pursuits
seem rather quaint today when we look at the environment of lower
Manhattan, not to mention the hate crime perpetrated there on Sept.
11. Homeland security appears to have been a low priority for Reno
and her FBI director Louis Freeh.
The Clinton Administration did nothing of significance in response to the first World 
Trade Center bombing, the bombing of the Khobar Towers in Dahran, the downing of Pan 
Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, the bombing of the A
merican Embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam or the bombing of the USS Cole in Aden. 
In fact, the Islamic terrorist network behind these mass murders continued to 
strengthen. It must have been obvious to the terrorists
that America wouldn´t strike back excepting the occasional and meaningless firing off 
of a missile for the benefit of the TV viewer and Clinton´s image.
Even more troubling is the possibility of a cover-up, by the Clinton Administration, 
of an Islamic terrorist connection to the Oklahoma City bombing. According to U.S.News 
Report (8/29) a few top Defense officials think
Oklahoma City bomber Tim McVeigh was an Iraqi agent.  U.S.News reports, The theory 
stems from a never-before-reported allegation that McVeigh had allegedly collected 
Iraqi telephone numbers. The Clinton Administration´
s motive for covering-up this key aspect of the case; among other cover-ups around the 
Oklahoma City bombing is truly a mystery.
Former Clinton advisor George Stephanopoulos and Senator John Kerry (D MA) have 
recently stated on television that terrorists destroyed TWA Flight 800. The Clinton 
Administration apparently refused to consider this eviden
ce, at least publicly, and instead chose to cover-up. In 1995, Ramzi Yousef, the 
mastermind behind the first World Trade Center bombing, revealed to federal 
investigators a plot called Project Bojinka which would have i
nvolved the hijacking of 11 US airlines on a single day with the intention of either 
blowing them up in mid-air or crashing them into US targets including CIA 
headquarters. The Clinton Administration covered up this infor
mation.
The Clinton Administration did nothing when UN arms inspector Scott Ritter reported 
violations regarding the Iraqi development of weapons of mass destruction. Nor was 
anything done when Iraq suspended the inspections alto
gether. Most damning, the Clinton Administration ignored the growing terrorist network 
in America, which included a large number of illegal aliens. Terrorists were 
laundering money through so-called charities and receivin
g para-military training and aviation training at American schools. Rather than 
encouraging the American citizen to learn about self-defense and the responsible 
handling of firearms, the Clinton Administration worked to d
is-arm the citizenry. Americans were told to trust the government with their safety.
A gauzy sense of unreality swirled around the Clinton years. The very core of 
Clinton´s being, his entire raison detre, was to cast himself in a favorable image. 
Everything about Clinton was always phony and narcissistic.
 This attitude pervaded our culture during those years and perhaps manifested itself 
in the willingness of all of us, to differing degrees, to suspend reality and focus on 
illusion. As a person obviously addicted to physi
cal pleasures, Clinton´s vision, or attention span, didn´t go much beyond the 
immediate. What mattered to Clinton was that which made him feel good and look good. 
After eight years of Clinton, the rest of us are now left

American Fascism Revisited

Nearly forty years ago, in 1962, Ayn Rand delivered a speech at the
Ford
Hall Forum entitled, The Fascist New Frontier. Her speech harshly
criticized the administration of John F. Kennedy for its violation of
rights. She intended to include a copy of this speech in her second
nonfiction collection, but Random House Books editor, Bennett Cerf,
would
have none of it. Rand claimed that Cerf initially touted the idea,
even endorsing the notion of titling the collection after the talk.
Angry at what
she viewed as an unprincipled change of mind, she severed ties with
Random
House.
While the speech was printed in pamphlet form, it did not receive
publication in a Rand book collection until the second edition of The
Ayn Rand Column, published in 1998 by Second Renaissance Books.
Given the impulse of recent events involving the creation of a
Homeland
Defense Agency to combat terrorism and the plethora of fresh
assaults on
privacy, self-defense, and the Constitution, a reassessment of Rand's
observations and conclusions can shed light on where our nation is
headed.
Rand began her speech by quoting from a work endorsed by that noted
collectivist and mystic, Adolf Hitler. In the 1920s, der Fuhrer laid
out his program for achieving social justice. Rand intended to shock
her audience by
demonstrating just how many of his ideas matched those supported by
the
average citizen. Remember: this was before the introduction of
Medicare, Medicaid, HMO's, Headstart, drugs for seniors, and the
Great Society of
Lyndon Johnson, that wondrous president who brought us the joys of Vietnam
in 3-D and living Technicolor.
Check it out:
1. State guarantees for employment and earning a living.
2. Promotion of the community over the individual.
3. Profit sharing in big business.
4. Special favors for small business in the purchases of . . . governments.
5. State improvement of public health and the protection of mother and
child.
6. State provided enlargement of our entire system of public education.
7. Prohibition of child labor.
8. Promoting physical education of youth.
9. Attacks on the materialistic spirit.
10. The Common Good Before the Individual Good.
Sounds familiar, huh? You'd almost have to think these points
uncontroversial if you examined how society has progressed in the eight
decades since Hitler's exhortations and the four decades since Rand's
commentary.
Today, we have:
1. State-mandated unemployment insurance; makeshift work to remove people
from welfare; minimum wage laws; living wage laws; endless government
programs to subsidize or provide grants to freeloaders unable to earn a
living in a free market, i.e., unable to find consumers to pay them for
what they do.
2. Communitarianism promoted by such academic stalwarts as Robert Bellah
and Amitai Etzioni; Hillary Clinton's It Takes a Village; and community
standards brought to us by the Black-Robed Nine, a.k.a., the Supreme Court.
3. Confiscatory tax rates  approaching fifty-percent  that redistribute
the wealth produced by the most productive individuals in our country to
those least creative and productive; death and estate taxes that force many
small businesses to sell off their assets to pay their bills; and tax codes
that steal the same money multiple times as it trickles down to you.
4. A Small Business Administration that provides loans to businesses too
risky or poorly organized to obtain loans from banks or investments from individuals; 
and governmental rules favoring minority owned businesses in
the rewarding of State contracts;
5. The expansion of State funding and regulation to include virtually all
aspects of our health care and insurance system; tax rules favoring 
third-party-payers; cabinet-level positions dedicated to overseeing health
issues; Medicare, Medicaid, and state-funding for the uninsured, especially 
children; state-dictates for coverage of various medical
conditions, for coverage pools, for portability, and for reimbursement; and
the coming drug coverage for retired folks.
6. The shift from 90% private schools and10% state schools at the beginning
of the Twentieth Century to the reverse by the start of the Twenty-First;
Headstart; suggestions for publicly-funded preschools and the first two
years of college; mandatory attendance policies; State dictatorship of
educational content, procedures, and testing; State-guaranteed student loans
and State provided grants; and the promotion of tax-funded vouchers.
7. Limits on when a child can begin to work; dictates regarding how many
hours and under what conditions children can be employed; minimum wage laws
that kill employment opportunities for many unskilled young people; mandatory school 
attendance; and outright prohibitions for many jobs.
8. A presidential commission dedicated to ensuring our youngsters are
physically fit.
9. Sin taxes designed to discourage consumption

[These five have not been deported as was expected on Sept 18 when
the last news appeared about them. Now the mother of one of them, who
has been shrieking to the press since the beginning, claims that they
were not on a Jersey City rooftop on Sept 11, taking pictures and
shouting with joy as the towers burned and collapsed, but that they
were actually arrested in the George Washington Bridge white van
incident. (Readers will recall THAT incident was later said to have
really been a white van in the NJ Meadowlands, nowhere near and
having nothing to do with the GWB.) We'll probably never know, but
at
least it seems that the Fabulous But Incompetent have not just let
the Israelis all run home to Mommy.
Mom is lucky her precious boy isn't experiencing the conditions
Palestinian prisoners endure in Israel. She is complaining about
conditions at the MCC (probably the story is in error about their
whereabouts. The Manhattan Federal Correction Center is where they
are keeping most of their Arab hostages swept up in New York City
during the post-911 racist hysteria.)

Five Israelis Held in New York
Five young Israelis are "on the verge of collapse," according to
family members, as their incarceration in New York on charges
relating to the Bin Laden attacks continues. They were arrested on
Sept. 11, only hours after the World Trade Center attack, on charges
of "plotting to blow up" a New York bridge.
Katie Shmuel of the Galilee town of Yokne'am, southeast of Haifa,
says that her son Yaron is in "a very critical psychological
situation," given that they are not allowed to have visitors and the
difficult conditions in which they are being held. "Even the Israeli
Consul-General in New York was allowed to visit only after asking
several times and receiving a special permit," Katie told Arutz-7's
Yosef Zalmanson today. "He was allowed to talk to them only in
English, and only from behind a glass partition. The Consul told me
that the boys are in a bad state and that they are being held under
difficult conditions."
When asked why the five youths, aged 22-26, are being held, Katie
replied with despair: "It's ludicrous. They were on the George
Washington Bridge [between upper Manhattan and New Jersey] at the
time of the bombing, and the FBI had warnings of a terrorist plot,
of
guys in a white van, to blow up the bridge. So when the FBI saw this
van, with my son and his four friends -- one of them had a large sum
of
money, there were two razor knives in the van, and one of the boys
is
named Omer, which the FBI guys thought was Omar -- they put one and
one together and got three, and immediately arrested them... For the
first few days, the boys were held in an FBI dungeon, tied up, with
no clothes and no food." She said that original reports that they had
been arrested while boisterously watching the disaster from a rooftop
"are totally fabricated. For one thing, they weren't even on a roof,
they were in a van..."
When asked how she explains her son's continued incarceration and
that of his friends, she said, "I truly have no explanation for this
incredible story - except this: The Americans are using them as pawns
to pressure the Israeli government. Am I being clear enough?" She
said that President Moshe Katzav and others had attempted to
intervene, but there have been no results so far. The youths are
being held in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
A spokesperson for the Israeli Consulate in New York told Arutz-7
that in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks, "the Americans now have
different procedures for dealing with the detention of anyone
arrested in connection with the attacks. Every single request of ours
must go through the FBI and the State Department's legal team." She
said, "We are doing as much as we possibly can on their behalf,"
including, she said, getting local Jewish leaders involved in the
cause of the imprisoned young Israelis.

An Introduction to the World of Conspiracy Theories

While I was writing Paranoia, many of my friends
wondered why I was interested in conspiracy theories.
They are fringe territory in American culture.
Strangely, while conspiracy theories are for crazy
people, many of my friends also believe that various
conspiracy theories are true. While I'm not a
conspiracy theorist, I have always been fascinated by
them--introduced to alternative histories by a friend
living in Santa Fe; Robert Anton Wilson and Robert
Shea's Illuminatus trilogy; and Umberto Eco's
Foucault's Pendulum. Conspiracy theories contain a
certain power, and those who treat them as a casual
belief, hobby or lifestyle collectively function a bit
like a secret society themselves, with various degrees
of initiation into the deeper mysteries. After some
exploration my imagination, Okay, what if all of this
were true? And what if an average Joe, a non-believer,
suddenly got proof that the biggest conspiracy theory
of all were true?

In researching Paranoia, I learned a lot not only
about conspiracy theories, but also the culture
surrounding them, a culture that has seeped into the
mainstream culture in the past few decades, including
the paranoid '60s and the conspiracy theory-rich '90s,
which probably had more conspiracies per capita than
any previous decade. Interestingly, this has led to
conspiracy theories, which mainstream people think
are craziness, and individual conspiracy theories,
which many mainstream people believe are true. And
while I still do not believe conspiracy theories
(although a good amount are plausible), I found a new
respect for conspiracy theorists. These are people
with their eyes wide open. They may see too much or
imagine seeing things at times, but they are vigilant
about civil liberties and challenge complacent
Americans to question their media-framed beliefs about
government and the world. The result in Paranoia is an
attempt to introduce this culture, illustrate the
seductive power that conspiracy theories have, and
frame the debate over whether they are credible or
crazinessall packaged within a taught thriller with
plenty of revelations, twists and surprises. In this
article, we will examine these same issues fairly.

Both conspiracies and conspiracy theories have always
existed in history. Benjamin Disraeli, the Prime
Minister of England, said to Parliament in 1856:


It is useless to deny, because it is impossible to
conceal, that a great part of Europe--the whole of
Italy and France and a great portion of Germany, to
say nothing of other countries--is covered with a
network of  secret societies . . . They do not want
constitutional government . . . They want to change
the tenure of land, to drive out the present owners of
the soil and to put an end to ecclesiastical
establishments.

President Woodrow Wilson wrote in 1913:

Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the
field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of
somebody, are afraid of something. They know there is
a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so
watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive
that they had better not speak above their breath when
they speak in condemnation of it.

At all times in human history, people have gathered in
secret societies and conspired to commit crimes and
acts of evil, going back to Adam and Eve, who decided
to eat the apple and keep it from God. The American
Revolution was the result of conspiracy to rebel
against the British Crown. Watergate, Iran-Contra,
abortion clinic bombings, the Lincoln assassination
and major terrorists attacks in the past few years
were all the product of conspiracies. Conspiracies are
so common, in fact, that there should be wacko
theorists making Web sites that reveal rare
coincidences that just plain happen. Meanwhile, at
all times in human history, other people have
theorized that secret societies and conspiracies were
the root cause of calamities and other current events.
The most ambitious linked different theories into a
Plan passed down from one generation of secret society
members to the next--a Plan that will be culminated in
their control of the world.

FBI fury as men with nuclear plan escape

WITH America on top security alert, the FBI was hunting yesterday for six
men
of Middle Eastern appearance carrying plans of a nuclear power plant and
the
Trans-Alaska oil pipeline who were picked up by police in the Midwest over
the
weekend but then released. The incident is thought to be connected with
the
latest FBI alert and senior intelligence officials are furious that the
men
were set free before they could be fully questioned.

The men were travelling in two groups of three in white saloon cars when
they
were pulled over by police officers in the Midwest, according to the
Knight
Ridder News Service. Security officials have refused to disclose further
details.

The men were searched and questioned and the state officers discovered
detailed
plans and photographs of a nuclear power plant in Florida, along with box
cutters  the weapons used in the September 11 attacks  and other
equipment.

The men, who appeared to be of Middle Eastern origin and held Israeli
passports, were then interviewed by immigration officials. When their
passports
and visas were found to be in order the officers, who were not aware of
the
countrys imminent security alert, let the men go without first calling in
the
FBI to question them more thoroughly.

It is not clear why the men were pulled over in the first place nor why
intelligence officers were not given a chance to interview them. Agents
suspect
that the men will by now have switched cars and tried to flee the country,
possibly to Canada.

Intelligence officials were especially concerned about the nuclear plant
details. Americas nuclear facilities received special attention in the
latest
FBI alert. The men were also carrying plans of the 800-mile Trans-Alaska
pipeline, which delivers 17 per cent of Americas oil.

There are three nuclear facilities in Florida, which have now been advised
to
step up security. One of the plants has called in local police as an extra
security precaution.

The news came as the US banned private flights near US nuclear facilities
for
the next ten days, in connection with the warning of another terrorist
attack,
and National Guard troops were deployed at nuclear power plants in three
southern states. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission ordered the nations

nuclear power plants to increase security.

At a time when police have unprecedented powers to arrest and detain
people who
are merely suspected of having links to terrorist activities, the release
of
these six men has infuriated the FBI.

The incident suggests a dangerous lack of co-ordination between different
law
enforcement bodies. Under Americas new anti-terrorist laws, police can
hold
someone almost indefinitely on charges of being a material witness to
terrorism.

Canada announced that it had given the US important intelligence about
another
possible imminent terrorist attack. Canadian secret services intercepted
telephone calls and e-mails from al-Qaeda operatives in Canada that
referred to
a major event taking place down south this week.

Law enforcement officials said that the US military intercepted numerous
other
calls leading up to the alert, which all used the same coded phrases. The
FBI
received intelligence about the new threat on Monday.

Bush Clamping Down On Presidential Papers
Incumbent Could Lock Up Predecessor's Records

The Bush White House has drafted an executive order that would usher in a new era of secrecy for presidential records and allow an incumbent president to withhold a former president's papers even if the former president wanted to make them public.

The five-page draft would also require members of the public seeking particular documents to show "at least a 'demonstrated, specific need' " for them before they would be considered for release.

Historians and others who have seen the proposed order called it unprecedented and said it would turn the 1978 Presidential Records Act on its head by allowing such materials to be kept secret "in perpetuity."

Under the order, incumbent and former presidents "could keep their records locked up for as long as they want," said Bruce Craig, executive director of the National Coordinating Committee for the Promotion of History. "It reverses the very premise of the Presidential Records Act, which provides for a systematic release of presidential records after 12 years."

Other critics voiced concern about the impact of the order "in the post-September 11 world," with its wartime atmosphere.

"The executive branch is moving heavily into the nether world of dirty tricks, very likely including directed assassinations overseas and other violations of American norms and the U.N. charter," said Vanderbilt University historian Hugh Graham. "There is going to be so much to hide."

Bush is expected to sign the order shortly. A White House aide said the Supreme Court held in 1977 that former presidents can continue to assert various privileges for their records and the order will simply establish "a procedure by which they can protect their rights." The aide said "great deference" will be paid to their wishes.

"The majority of former presidents have released virtually all of their records," the aide added. "This executive order does nothing to change that."

The proposed order, dated Oct. 29, grew out of a decision by the Bush administration early this year to block the release of 68,000 pages of confidential communications between President Ronald Reagan and his advisers that officials at the National Archives, including the Reagan library, had wanted to make public.

Relying on an obscure executive order that Reagan issued just before leaving office, White House counsel Alberto R. Gonzales prescribed a series of delays so that Bush could decide whether to invoke "a constitutionally based privilege or take other appropriate action."

The papers in question, some dealing with Reagan-era officials who now have high posts in the Bush administration, were to have been disclosed last January under the 1978 law, which said that the documents could be restricted at the most for 12 years after Reagan left office.

The new executive order would replace the 1989 Reagan decree and cover not only confidential communications between a president and his advisers but, as Graham put it, "almost anything in the White House files."

For 12-year-old documents that are not covered by "constitutionally based privileges" but are subject to requests under the Freedom of Information Act, the order states that the archivist "must withhold" them if possible.

For records that might be privileged as state secrets, confidential communications, attorney-client communications, or "deliberative process" materials, a requester must establish "specific need" for them "as a threshold matter."

A former president would then review them and tell the archivist whether they should be withheld or made public. The incumbent president or a designee would then look at them to see if he or she agrees with the ex-president's decision. Unless both agree they should be made public, the records will remain secret unless "a final court order" should require disclosure.

"Absent compelling circumstances," the incumbent president will concur in the former president's privilege decision, the draft order states. But if the incumbent president does not agree on a former president's decision to grant access, "the incumbent president may independently order the archivist to withhold privileged records."

The order would work "like a one-way ratchet," said Scott Nelson, an attorney for the Public Citizen Litigation Group. "If the former president says the records are privileged, they will remain secret even if the sitting president disagrees. If the sitting president says they should be privileged, they remain secret even if the former president disagrees."

In the face of a serious threat to the Capitol and its surrounding office buildings, the House is prepared to transfer its operations to Fort McNair at a moment's notice, according to lawmakers and staffers involved in the project.

Although there's no way to recreate the marble halls and the grand Rotunda of the Capitol, the makeshift chamber - which would be located in an undisclosed building at Fort McNair in Southwest D.C. - would provide all the necessary elements to make voting and legislative business possible.

"We tested our plans and now know that we have a system that works," said GOP Conference Chairman J.C. Watts (Okla.).

Officials have secured podiums, rostrums, televisions, cameras, audio equipment and phone lines so the building would resemble the House floor in general layout and organization.

"You would be amazed to see how much this site looks like the House floor,"said one senior staffer involved in the project.

The Senate also has a contingency plan to meet at a military installation, though details of the plan have not been disclosed.

Although discussions were under way about trying to replicate the House's electronic voting system and its billboards, Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), the ranking member on the House Administration Committee, said lawmakers would likely vote manually with green and red cards to indicate "yes" and "no" votes.

House officials also have taken steps to make the site accessible to the media.

"Press would be included," Hoyer said. "It's important to have the American people see that Congress is in session."

Aides said plans have been made to allow C-SPAN to broadcast and to allow journalists to enter the building, although it is not known whether the new location could accommodate all reporters with Capitol Hill credentials.

According to aides involved in the process, Fort McNair has long been identified as an alternative meeting place for Congress, but plans to transform the base into the House's headquarters remained loose and largely hypothetical.

Detailed planning for an alternative site began in earnest after Sept. 11. But the project shifted into overdrive when a letter containing anthrax was sent to Majority Leader Thomas Daschle (D-S.D.) and the threat of bioterrorism spread across the Hill.

Sergeant-at-Arms Bill Livingood, Clerk of the House Jeff Trandahl, Chief Administrative Officer Jay Eagen and House Administration officials formed the House Operations Recovery Team, or HORT, and furiously worked around the clock to make sure Fort McNair would be ready if lawmakers were forced to move there.

Key staffers in the offices of Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) and Minority Leader Richard Gephardt (D-Mo.) were also directly involved.

"[Trandahl] and [Eagen] have done all the work and they've kept us in the loop,"said Gephardt Chief of Staff Steve Elmendorf. "[Moving to Fort McNair] is not something that any of us were hoping we'd do, but we're glad there was a team working on it."

By the evening of Oct. 17, the day Hastert and Gephardt announced the House would shut down, the staffs of the House Administration Committee and the Sergeant-at-Arms, Clerk of the House and Chief Administrative Officer's offices were already working from Fort McNair to extend phone lines, transport podiums and make it possible for Members to vote there.

Hastert and Gephardt were also under pressure to make sure there was a physical place for Members to conduct business, as the House was scheduled to meet Oct. 23.

"We had to have it ready," one senior GOP aide said. "The House would have to be televised from there, so we had to get it ready."

Even when the Capitol opened to staffers and reporters Oct. 22, aides said the team of officers and staff were still working out the remaining details. At one point that evening a fire alarm went off at Fort McNair, but the group continued its business outside on the lawn with flashlights, using cell phones to participate in a bipartisan conference call updating aides about plans to relocate lawmakers' offices to the General Accounting Office.

During the call, the aides were told only that there would be an alternative site for the chamber, but not that plans were under way to move floor action to Fort McNair the next day if the House side of the Capitol wasn't open.

Republicans House staffers said they were able to move quickly on plans for a different site because the House administrative officers had already been working to develop an alternative location for lawmakers to hold floor sessions years before the Capitol became a target for terrorism.

According to our leaders, we are not supposed to let the war on terror disrupt our normal lives. And, to their credit, they're leading by example.

For instance, far from the war disrupting the House's normal run of shameless corporate toadying, it's enhancing it. Indeed, it's giving our leaders cover to put forward their answer to each and every problem America faces: a massive corporate giveaway. And they even have the gall to call it patriotism. Others, using the English language more rigorously, call it war profiteering.

The so-called economic stimulus package that passed the House last week would have been scurrilous in times of prosperity. But in this time of national crisis it is, quite simply, grotesque.

The grisly details include a retroactive elimination of the corporate alternative minimum tax and a 10 percent cut in the capital gains tax. And on the other side of the Capitol, the Senate Republicans are proposing an acceleration of all the top-bracket tax cuts and a return of that old favorite, the fully tax-deductible three-martini lunch.

The House package is little more than a rehashed corporate wish list, doling out $115 billion in tax breaks to big business and the wealthiest taxpayers, and a comparatively measly $14 billion to poor and moderate-income families in the form of tax rebates and unemployment benefits. And while the tax cuts for the haves are permanent, those for the have-nots are good for only one year.

What's more, the money given to corporate America is given without conditions -- not tax credits tied to investments, but handouts more likely to end up in CEOs' Christmas bonuses than back in the economy.

All you really need to know about the true nature of this bill can be found in a largely unnoticed provision that makes permanent a gaping tax loophole that was about to expire. It allows multinational corporations such as GE and Ford to avoid paying taxes by shifting profits to their offshore subsidiaries -- but only if those profits remain overseas. Tell me, how exactly is providing incentives to keep money out of our economy supposed to stimulate our economy?

The House bill is so outrageous that even some top GOP officials are balking. In a rare slip from the party line, Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill colorfully criticized it as "show business." Rep. Greg Ganske, R-Iowa, one of seven Republicans who voted against the bill, labeled it "an early Christmas card" for "already profitable corporations." And the president's budget director, Mitch Daniels, informed the nation in a poetic outburst that "the corral gates" have been blown open and "the animals are running loose."

The galloping beasts in this case are corporate lobbyists and their chums on the Hill, Dick Armey and Tom DeLay chief among them.

The juiciest goodie in this box of corporate bon-bons, the retroactive repeal of the corporate alternative minimum tax, will lead to $25 billion in instant corporate rebate checks to needy companies such as IBM (slated to get $1.4 billion), GM ($833 million) and GE ($671 million).

Of the $25 billion refund, over $6.3 billion will be given to just 14 corporations. Not surprisingly, these 14 lucky winners have been regular and generous political donors. Over the last 10 years, they've poured almost $15 million in soft money into the national committees of both parties. It turns out that may be the smartest investment they've ever made.

Such a blatant quid pro quo is so indefensible that the main champions of the grandly named Economic Security and Recovery Act aren't even trying very hard to justify it. Take Armey's wan effort on "Meet the Press." There he was, half-heartedly trying to convince Tim Russert that we need these massive tax cuts because the last round of massive tax cuts were not geared to stimulating the economy. Really? Wasn't that him at a House subcommittee hearing back in March, selling the last tax cut bill as "just the shot in the arm that this economy needs"?

Armey then offered us all a lecture on how big corporate giveaways are the best way to create new jobs. Unfortunately, the facts don't bear him out. The $15 billion Congress just handed the airline industry hasn't kept it from laying off 140,000 workers.

Armey also called enhanced unemployment benefits "a feeble response" and not "commensurate with the American spirit." He went on to promise that the new stimulus package "will create 170,000 new jobs next year alone." Not exactly the most heartening news to the 7.8 million people currently unemployed in the country. What are the 7.63 million left on the sidelines supposed to do, sit around and cross their fingers, hoping one or two of the lucky 170,000 will eventually rub their new bosses the wrong way? Is that more in keeping with the American spirit?

It's time to declare war on war profiteering. But we'll need political leaders

IN THE HEROIC iconography of America's good wars, our government asked its soldiers to fight in trenches, and they risked (and often lost) their lives defending freedom.

However, in America's "new kind of war," it seems far too many of our political leaders--starting with President Bush--seem most preoccupied with asking their corporate friends to belly up to the trough. For the war effort, of course.

Last Wednesday, the House of Representatives passed a proposed package of "economic stimulus" measures, strongly supported by Bush, that adds up to a stunning array of gifts to big corporations and the wealthy. It contains $70 billion worth of corporate tax cuts this year alone-geared to big, rather than small, companies-and yet another "rebate" payout gimmick to individuals, this one attached to cuts that, again, are overwhelmingly skewed to benefit middle- and upper-income taxpayers. (In case you didn't notice, this year's $300 "rebate" gimmick was actually an advance payment on your income-tax bill for next year. Seriously. Your overall tax bill did not change a bit--only the timeline by which you shelled out the money.) For the laid off and unemployed, nothing.

One of the most notable provisions of the newly passed House bill would repeal the corporate alternative minimum tax, a 1986 law intended to close loopholes that big corporations had been using to escape paying income taxes through the use of deductions. The House measure would not only end the law but would refund to corporations the taxes they have paid as a result of it. According to the Congressional Research Service, of the $25.4 billion the repeal and resulting refunds would cost this year, $3.3 billion would go to seven companies, including IBM ($1.4 billion), General Motors ($832 million), and General Electric ($671 million). Another provision would reduce the top rate on long-term capital gains taxes from 20 percent to 18 percent.

There's plenty more, some of which is not likely to survive the Senate but still sets the tone and the agenda for how Congress is responding (after they come out from under their beds) to the first direct, truly devastating attack on the U.S. mainland in nearly 200 years. On the same day that the House passed its pig-feeding law, Bush administration officials began testimony in House and Senate hearings in support of an effort to underwrite the insurance industry. That industry took a huge hit from the Sept. 11 attacks, but it also happens to be flush with money. Lawmakers agree that federal support is necessary to help bail out insurers in case of catastrophic losses from future terrorist attacks in this war. But Bush wants the federal government to cover 80 percent of all attack- related industry payouts from the very first dollar. His plan limits overall losses in 2002 to $12 billion; after that, the feds will cover everything. And if there are no attacks, of course, the profits will be enormous. It's socialism for the rich: The public assumes the risk, the private sector gets any profit.

But that wasn't all. Also last Wednesday, the Bush administration cut a deal with Bayer A.G., the German pharmaceutical giant that makes the anti- anthrax antibiotic Cipro (see "End the War on Bugs," p. 25). Bayer had been charging $1.83 per tablet for government orders and agreed to cut the price nearly in half, to about 95 cents a tablet, for a guaranteed order of 100 million tablets this year--a $100 million sale.

That price concession will certainly help. But it's still a lot more than Bayer actually spends to make and distribute the well-established drug. And, as worried Americans besieged doctors and pharmacists seeking preventive prescriptions, Bayer was still gouging pharmacies with a wholesale price of a staggering $4.67 a tablet, meaning the retail price still runs from $5-$7 per pill. In announcing the deal with Bayer, a previous threat to pull Bayer's patent on Cipro early--so that a cheaper, generic version could be made available to the public--was quietly dropped. Instead, Bayer remains free to rip us off as part of the war effort.

Profiteering at the expense of human lives is standard fare for the drug industry, but it's particularly repugnant when it comes amidst war. Mind you, the above examples of fighting a war in the troughs came on one day. And they didn't even include the country's pre-eminent budgetary bottom-feeders, our "defense" industry. If this was a day in the life of Capitol Hill, and we've been promised a long war, then the public had better get busy. The last time a foreign power launched a wholesale attack on our mainland, in 1812, Washington, D.C., was sacked. It's happening again.

It is completely amazing just how easy it was for the Illuminati to pull this whole thing off. It all started with the stolen election.

1. In Florida
Blacks and other minorities were turned away at the poles. Polling sites were guarded carefully by law enforcement. Unwarranted arrests were made for supposedly loitering. Hey I always though if you are waiting in line to vote that was legal. People were told they didn’t have a valid ID and turned away from more than one voting site. Since when do you need id to vote. If you have a valid voters card then that’s all you need and these people had what they needed. The other controversy is the confusing voters card. Jeb did a great job stealing the election for his brother.

2. Why war?
War turns Bush into a good guy, because he can get the bad guys, make order out of chaos, the negative economy can be blamed on the war instead of the Republican’s who started the decline when they got into office, One World Government, taking away of a civil rights and blame it all on someone else.

After extensive warnings from the CIA, FBI and other entities and individuals, including some from outside the US, the attacks on 911 were allowed to be successfully carried out. Also, I have a friend who’s sister was in the WTC when the attacks happened. Law enforcement was telling people after the first plane hit, not to exit the building. They were keeping people from leaving. Why were people being told this? My friend’s sister said she and a colleague decided to sneak out anyway.

Not to mention look at how those buildings went down. Looks like demolition. The people who designed the building have said over and over those buildings were designed to withstand an airplane hit. They should not have gone down the way they did. They are designed so that even the fire would have been contained only to the floors that it originally started on. They would have burned out leaving holes in the buildings. However, somehow both buildings fell with precision.

3.Anthrax

Isn’t it interesting that suddenly this supposedly rare and hard to get disease is taking lives and a constant threat in the media. Showing up in several states but no one seems to know where it’s coming from and it’s not being credited to the terrorists. Why? Here are some theories:

· Something to keep America focused on taking attention away from the war.
· No one will question or pay attention to the erosion of our civil liberties.
Some new political aspirations:
Electronic surveillance of email
Electronic surveillance of cell phones
Enter homes without warning
Proposed state driver’s licenses
New “Home Security” entity
National Guard in the airports
Marshall law
Drilling for oil in Alaska
Restrictions for those who want to travel by plane.

Police and law enforcement are “heroes”

Did September 11 sound the death knell for globalization?

Critics contend that “globalization” is simply good old British Imperialism in a different hat, replacing “The sun never sets on the British Empire” with “The sun never sets on the global marketplace.” The continuing track record of rich, “developed” nations plundering the resources and people of poor, “developing” nations lends credence to this argument. Globalization supporters, on the other hand, see the theory as one way to break down the barriers between nations while helping to create more overall wealth. The end result, in the lexicon of those advocates, is that “a rising tide lifts all ships.” Meanwhile, President Bush’s new “global war on terrorism” and entropy, an old law of physics, seem destined to bring globablization to an early end.

First and foremost, Bush’s “global war on terrorism” looks like it will render “free trade,” one of the foundations of globalization, an anachronism. Just this week Bush announced a new task force to review worldwide terrorist groups and any individuals in this country that may support them. In the inimitable dialect of the Bush administration, the president’s spokesman used such terms as “foreigners” and “aliens” to describe, among others, exchange students. While Tom Ridge, the president’s pick to head the new Office of Homeland Security, was more charitable in his use of the term “non-citizens,” he nonetheless proclaimed that “a point of access becomes a vulnerability” in describing the tougher scrutiny that will now be applied to student visas. The squirrelly part of this equation lies in how those who review the background information for student visas determine what constitutes a “terrorist organization.” Remember, if an Afghan student had fought with the Mujahedeen against the Russians only a few years back, he would have been considered a “freedom fighter.” Now, without question, he would be dumped into the “terrorist” category. So much for “free trade” in global knowledge.

Taking Ridge’s quote a bit further, if a “point of access” is now defined as “a vulnerability,” doesn’t that sound the death knell for “free trade” in goods and services, too? Since America went on red alert following the September attacks, routine border crossings between Mexico and the United States are now taking up to three hours. Think about that—three hours sitting in a stationary line of traffic in the hot desert sun just waiting to cross the Mexican border. Last week two El Paso children, ages 9 and 13, died of carbon monoxide poisoning after falling asleep in the camper of their parent’s pickup truck while endlessly waiting to reenter the United States after visiting their grandparents in Mexico. And they weren’t even “foreigners.” Why the long wait? Immigration and security personnel now deem it necessary to root through every trunk and open every hood on every car or truck coming into the country. If the wait was lethal for the children, think what it might be like for livestock, fresh produce, or other perishable goods. Such actions beg the question of what might be coming in on the thousands of container ships that off-load in American harbors and ports every day. If “invulnerability” is our goal, “access” will increasingly be seen as our enemy.

Last week’s headlines that America’s food supply could be the next target for bioterrorism must be seen as yet another, perhaps insurmountable, hurdle for globalization. It is inconceivable that any nation, let alone one of our complexity and size, could possibly screen all the food that it imports for every imaginable bioterror weapon. Meats, vegetables, fish, processed foods (open the cans?), and flowers all pour into this country daily by the tens of thousands of tons. Currently, food safety inspectors cover the tiniest fraction (reportedly less than 1 percent) of these imports—and they are only looking for your everyday violations like rodent feces, insect parts, mislabeling, etc. The magnitude and cost of extending bioterror monitoring to our total imported foods and goods stream would take so many people and require so much money that even those goods that made it through would be so expensive their markets would collapse. Thus ends “free trade” in global commodities.

Which brings us to entropy—the law of physics that says the universe moves inexorably from order toward chaos. For instance, no matter how much you try to have a clean and tidy home, there will always be dishes that get dirty, dust that materializes from nowhere, and clutter that spontaneously generates from the everyday process of living ... in other words, chaos, albeit on a small scale. To restore order, we must expend energy and wash the dishes, dust the mantle, and physically remove the clutter.

What goes for the universe and our daily lives also goes for globalization.

'Credible' threat to California bridges

California Governor Gray Davis says he has received credible information
that major bridges in the state - including the Golden Gate Bridge - could
be targeted for attack.

He said that information from several different sources spoke of a
possible attempt to blow up the bridges during the rush hour between 2 and 7
November.

He said that there were no plans to close the bridges, and it was up to
commuters to decide whether to drive over them in the coming days.

The bridges at risk, according to Governor Davies. include the Golden Gate
and Bay Bridges in San Francisco, the Vincent Thomas Bridge in Los Angeles
and the Coronado Bridge in San Diego.

The Golden Gate Bridge has seen tighter security measures since 11
September, with pedestrian and bicycle traffic barred from the bridges for
several weeks after the attacks on the World Trade Center.

Osama Investments in Biological Research - or Biowarfare?

Now comes The Boston Herald (Bin Ladens Own Stake in Mass. Biomedical Firm,
Jonathan Wells/Jack Meyers, Sep 25, 2001) which breaks a story about a very
strange biomedical firm and its very unusual investors. Turns out, with
further investigation on my part, to go much deeper than the simple but
provocative headline would indicate.  Not only is the bin Laden family and
the same Mafouz from Harken and BCCI money laundering adventures investing
in this firm, but also a certain Prince Faisal of Saudi Arabia, who has
since been found to also be more recently investing in Harken. In fact,
there are more than a dozen Middle-Eastern investors, and at least one
mystery investor whos' identity is withheld even on SEC filings - $50M worth
of hidden investing.

This firm is particularly strange because it has lost $240M, never making a
profit in more than 6 years. These losses were racked up in 'research' which
has been essentially unproductive, its only commercially available produc
involving research and licenses on the work of others, and for which it has
only three clients - clients chiefly given them by one of the license
holders. Despite this clear failure to become a sucessfull company, it is
paying the top two corporate officers obscene 6 figure (nearly 7) salaries.
There is even a $190K loan to the top officer which has risen to a quarter
million dollar debt because there have been no payments whatsoever for
years. This for a company with only 50 employes, which according to the math
from official SEC filings, earn an average well below $20K per year. What
kind of high-tech biomedical specialists can you hire for that?

More interesting is that other investors include DOD and military
contractors, and key managers come from both Eli Lilly, where they worked
under George Herbert Walker Bush, and/or from appointments and/or positions
with the National Academy of Science/Institute of Medicine or National
Institute of Health under the first Bush Administration. There are a lot of
very interesting financial transactions and business decisions to explore,
including a bank loan adjusted over and over again, real estate and other
transactions where money goes one way, then comes back, and a curious move
from one facility to another, and then back again in a matter of months.
More interesting than this, is a $1M bank account in a German Bank which has
been FROZEN by the German Government in August of 1997. Very interesting,
because the firm reports  no business in Germany. These curiosities and
others make a half-dozen 'indicators' that a firm is a front operation, and
so far, the closer I look, the more such indicators I find. The question is,
a front for whom, and for what?

This latest Alert Announcement that suspension
bridges in California may be terrorist targets
illustrates the tremendous advantage held by
the terrorists, whoever they are. At this moment,
very extensive, and very expensive security measures
are being taken to protect the bridges. This involves
an untold number of police and other security
personnel...thousands of additional manhours and
extra shifts for departments that are already
stretched
thin.  The terrorists are in the driver's seat and
in great position to yank our chain in a variety
of ways. You can bet they will continue to yank it.
There is no doubt they are fully aware that
communications via various channels are being
monitored and overheard. All they need to do is have
some phone conversations which they know are being
overheard via Echelon or similar electronic
monitoring. They can simply mention some
targets and we must frantically respond with

are still so many people out there that insist that pagans/witches are evil
individuals who worship the devil and are out to cause others harm.  Anyone

I was so sad when I saw the e-mail claiming that Samhain was the god of
death.  I wanted to believe that people had really come along since the days

A US delegation attending a meeting of the World Trade Organisation
in Qatar next week will be issued with gas masks, medical supplies
and a radio device.
Members of Congress planning to travel to the Gulf country received
classified briefings that terrorist cells may be operating there.
They were told that on landing in Doha, the capital, they will
receive a respiratory device, medicine to protect them against
biological weapons and a radio device for communication if people are
evacuated to a ship offshore.
The briefings, also given to administration officials and some
business executives, prompted several members to drop out of the
meeting.
One congressional staffer told the Washington Post: You've got to
wonder if the guys making the call [about holding the meeting in
Qatar] have actually read the intelligence reports.
Some of the classified briefings indicate that a suspected terrorist
with expertise in truck bombing entered Qatar in recent months.
Officials also cited evidence that some anti-American Islamic
fundamentalists have infiltrated the military.
The meetings, on November 9-13, are aimed at global negotiations to
lower trade barriers, a goal that eluded the WTO two years ago in
Seattle, where anti-globalisation protests disrupted the session. One
reason Qatar was chosen was that it seemed safe from disruption.

The Guardian
Rodger Garrick-Steele is a historian from Dawlish in Devon who has
spent 11 years researching a book on whether Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
was really the author of the Hound of the Baskervilles.
It is exactly 100 years since the Hound of the Baskervilles was
serialised for Strand magazine and the results were historically
phenomenal - no book has ever been as successful. I have uncovered
the original manuscript of the book entitled An Adventure on Dartmoor
which appears to have been written by Conan Doyle's friend Bertram
Fletcher-Robinson. As soon as the press got hold of this story they
went bananas all over the world.
On Monday I received a phone call from the BBC asking me to   give a
television interview. I also found the time to do a Radio 4 interview
at St Andrew's church in Ipplepen on a bench outside Fletcher-
Robinson's grave. I've had constant phone calls and faxes from
Brazil, South Africa and the whole of Europe. I even had a call from
the Russians, saying they were the personal television company for
President Putin. Unfortunately, they rang back to say they were
awfully sorry but the president was going somewhere else and taking
them with him, so I hope that happens at a later date.
Of course, I've stayed away from the international gathering of
Sherlock Holmes fans on Dartmoor this week. I'm poison to them as
I've been saying that Conan Doyle used poison to murder   Fletcher-
Robinson. They all dress up as their favourite characters so there
are about 17 Sherlock Holmes and 44 Dr Watsons. They have a lot of
fun but they are pretty furious with me.
They don't want to believe what I'm saying, but if only someone
would look at the evidence, maybe they would see that I'm right.
Conan Doyle did chase young women and he was involved with adultery,
but nobody's perfect.
I went to the gym on Wednesday because when you're an author you sit
on your backside all day and the weight piles on.
Over the past few months, I've been talking to Hollywood about making
a film based on my book. It won't be out for another few years but it
would undoubtedly change my life. I haven't seen much money.
I've also been in touch with a guy in the US who does hypnotic
regression. If you look at a photo of myself and Sir Arthur you will
find that we look like brothers. He wants to put me on film and
regress me to find out if I really was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. If he
does I would be interested to know just how many women I did enjoy.

Objectivism Home  Essentials of Objectivism

Ayn Rand named her philosophy Objectivism and described it as a
philosophy for living on earth. Objectivism is an integrated system
of thought that defines the abstract principles by which a man must
think and act if he is to live the life proper to man. Ayn Rand first
portrayed her philosophy in the form of the heroes of her best-
selling novels, The Fountainhead (1943) and Atlas Shrugged (1957).
She later expressed her philosophy in nonfiction form.
 Ayn Rand was once asked if she could present the essence of
Objectivism while standing on one foot. Her answer was:
 Metaphysics: Objective Reality
 Epistemology: Reason
 Ethics: Self-interest
 Politics: Capitalism
She then translated those terms into familiar language:
 Nature, to be commanded, must be obeyed.
 You cant eat your cake and have it, too.
 Man is an end in himself.
 Give me liberty or give me death.

The basic principles of Objectivism can be summarized as follows:

Metaphysics
Reality, the external world, exists independent of mans
consciousness, independent of any observers knowledge, beliefs,
feelings, desires or fears. This means that A is A, that facts are
facts, that things are what they are  and that the task of mans
consciousness is to perceive reality, not to create or invent it.
Thus Objectivism rejects any belief in the supernatural  and any
claim that individuals or groups create their own reality.
Epistemology
Mans reason is fully competent to know the facts of reality.
Reason, the conceptual faculty, is the faculty that identifies and
integrates the material provided by mans senses. Reason is mans
only means of acquiring knowledge. Thus Objectivism rejects
mysticism (any acceptance of faith or feeling as a means of
knowledge), and it rejects skepticism (the claim that certainty or
knowledge is impossible).

Human Nature
Man is a rational being. Reason, as mans only means of knowledge, is
his basic means of survival. But the exercise of reason depends on
each individuals choice. Man is a being of volitional
consciousness. That which you call your soul or spirit is your
consciousness, and that which you call free will is your minds
freedom to think or not, the only will you have, your only freedom.
This is the choice that controls all the choices you make and
determines your life and character.Thus Objectivism rejects any form
of determinism, the belief that man is a victim of forces beyond his
control (such as God, fate, upbringing, genes, or economic
conditions).

Ethics
Reason is mans only proper judge of values and his only proper
guide to action. The proper standard of ethics is: mans survival qua
man  i.e., that which is required by mans nature for his survival
as a rational being (not his momentary physical survival as a
mindless brute). Rationality is mans basic virtue, and his three
fundamental values are: reason, purpose, self-esteem. Man  every man
 is an end in himself, not a means to the ends of others; he must
live for his own sake, neither sacrificing himself to others nor
sacrificing others to himself; he must work for his rational self-
interest, with the achievement of his own happiness as the highest
moral purpose of his life. Thus Objectivism rejects any form of
altruism  the claim that morality consists in living for others or
for society.

Politics
The basic social principle of the Objectivist ethics is that no man
has the right to seek values from others by means of physical force 
i.e., no man or group has the right to initiate the use of physical
force against others. Men have the right to use force only in self-
defense and only against those who initiate its use. Men must deal
with one another as traders, giving value for value, by free, mutual
consent to mutual benefit. The only social system that bars physical
force from human relationships is laissez-faire capitalism.
Capitalism is a system based on the recognition of individual rights,
including property rights, in which the only function of the
government is to protect individual rights, i.e., to protect men from
those who initiate the use of physical force. Thus Objectivism
rejects any form of collectivism, such as fascism or socialism. It
also rejects the current mixed economy notion that the government
should regulate the economy and redistribute wealth.

Esthetics
Art is a selective re-creation of reality according to an artists
metaphysical value-judgments. The purpose of art is to concretize
the artists fundamental view of existence. Ayn Rand described her
own approach to art as Romantic Realism: I am a Romantic in the
sense that I present men as they ought to be. I am Realistic in the
sense that I place them here and now and on this earth. The goal of

I agree Nakano.  I also have a question:  recently, the government has taken
to telling its citizens to be on high alert.  What exactly IS high alert
anyway???  What are we supposed to be doing while on high alert???  Ducking
and covering when a plane flies over?

I just find it amusing that we are being asked to be on high alert when the
actual state of being on high alert has never been defined!  ::shrug::  Oh
well!  Be safe one and all!

Ayn Rand may be the most widely read American philosopher
of the twentieth century. Certainly, no American philosopher has sold
more books
to the general public than Randover thirty million at last count,
with over a
half million being sold on a yearly basis. Rands legacy is
widespread and
enduring. Why it has not received the attention of scholars is
puzzling and
perhaps even scandalous. Her philosophical views, many of which are
extremely
controversial, literally cry out for interpretation and criticism.
But little
along these lines has appeared.
In Ayn Rand Contra Human Nature, I have
endeavored to make up for this deficiency. My book has two specific
purposes.
First, I want to explain how Rands philosophy came into being. What
were Rands
principle motives in developing her various philosophic doctrines?
What was its
primary raison dêtre of her entire Objectivist system? My second purpose was
to determine the factual veracity of Rands various philosophical contentions.
Does her view of man, of history, of human knowledge, of society, of art accord
with the facts? Or are her views of these matters simply one vast tissue of
distortion, half-truths, misinterpretations, and even downright falsehoods? In
order to answer these questions, I could not settle for mere analysis of the
logical coherence of Rands philosophy. No, that would not do at all. Rands
views need to be tested scientificallywhich is to say, by comparing them with
the relevant factual evidence. The tendency with previous critics of Rand has
always been to try to attack Rand with logical argumentation. I have never found
such critiques to be very compelling. They inevitably degenerate into arguments
about words. I have no interest in squabbling about words. What I want to know
is whether Rands contentions about reality are true; and the only way to
settle this question is through a consultation with the relevant facts. To try
to settle it in any other way would be a waste of time.
In pursuing these two goals, I quickly found a common
thread running through the entire Objectivist system. Rand had several times
remarked that the goal of her writing was the projection of an ideal man.
My purpose, first cause and prime mover is the portrayal of Howard Roark or
John Galt or Hank Rearden or Francisco dAnconia as an end in himselfnot as
a means to a further end. In her essay The Goal of my Writing (Romantic
Manifesto, pp. 162-172), Rand explained how this goal led to the
establishment of her philosophy:
Since my purpose is the presentation of
  an ideal man, I had to define and present the conditions which make him
  possible and which his existence requires. Since mans character is the
  product of his premises, I had to define and present the kind of premises and
  values that create the character of an ideal man and motivate his actions;
  which means that I had to define and present a rational code of ethics. Since man 
acts among and deals with other men, I had to present the kind of social
  system that makes it possible for ideal men to exist and to functiona free,
  productive, rational system, which demands and rewards the best in every man,
  great or average, and which is, obviously, laissez-faire capitalism.
Rand could not be much clearer in stating the main purpose
behind her Objectivist system than this. Her primary motivation was to create a 
philosophical foundation for her ideal man. In pursuing this goal, she not
only had to define what constitutes an ideal man, she also had to explicate the
moral and political framework needed to make such an entity possible.
But almost from the start we come across a very serious
problem. If Rands conception of the ideal man is examined critically,
something soon becomes apparent. This ideal man does not correspond to any of
the scientists, builders, scholars or anyone else ever found in reality. This
ideal man is a product of Rands imagination, not a copy of any actual living
being. Rand, however, wished to defend him as a real possibility. This placed
her in a difficult position. Since the view of man presented by literature,
history, and science contradicts Rands view, she had to explain why she was
right and all the great philosophers, novelists, poets, historians and
scientists of Western Civilization were wrong. In my opinion, this is the great
