Bug#410269: (pas de sujet)
Hi, Check your traceback, many picard's python modules are loaded from /usr/local/ instead of /usr. You must have an old manual installation that conflicts with the debian package. Remove it and it'll work again. Moreover I just checked on two computers, Options worked like a charm. = Invalid + Closed, Feel free to re-open if you're still experiencing issues after having removed picard from /usr/local/. Bug#379900: liferea: Sporadic crashes on amd64 -- Please retest with 1.0.27-1
FWIW, liferea 1.2.5 was released recently; its changelist cites the fixing of a crash on 64-bit platforms. I've been using it for the past five or six days and haven't crashed it yet, which is better than 1.0.27-1 ever did. Bug#409864: Unspeakable evil is possible even in python
Please don't misinterpret my previous comments as criticism of you as maintainer -- whoever wrote the code evidently just completely failed to consider setups different to their own. That is interesting because, being currently subscribed to the package's PTS even though I'm not the maintainer, I actually didn't went through your entire bug report mostly because of the way it was explained at the beginning. I mostly read something like this package is providing brain-dead codewhich then prevented me to hear the very valid arguments you developed further...which I actually read when I read your *second* mail. Bug#410283: RFP: jtb -- a syntax tree builder to be used with the Java Compiler Compiler (JavaCC) parser generator
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: jtb Version : 1.3.2 Upstream Author : Wanjun Wang [EMAIL PROTECTED] and others * URL : http://compilers.cs.ucla.edu/jtb/ * License : BSD Programming Lang: Java Description : a syntax tree builder for JavaCC JTB is a syntax tree builder to be used with the Java Compiler Compiler (JavaCC) parser generator. It takes a plain JavaCC grammar file as input and automatically generates the following: * A set of syntax tree classes based on the productions in the grammar, utilizing the Visitor design pattern. * Two interfaces: Visitor and GJVisitor. Two depth-first visitors: DepthFirstVisitor and GJDepthFirst, whose default methods simply visit the children of the current node. * A JavaCC grammar jtb.out.jj with the proper annotations to build the syntax tree during parsing. New visitors, which subclass DepthFirstVisitor or GJDepthFirst, can then override the default methods and perform various operations on and manipulate the generated syntax tree. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#353053: watchdog: this needs to be resolved for xen when many domains need to be shut down
On Fri, Feb 09, 2007 at 03:03:33PM +1100, James Harper wrote: Would it be possible for watchdog to detect a change to runlevel 0 or 6, and simply stop doing the checks which become unreliable once a shutdown has started? This behaviour could be controlled by a config option if necessary. And then make watchdog become the last daemon stopped? Yes, that might work. Hmm, thinking about it, it might even be better to do this with two programs. I thought of this as well... one at K01 and one at K99. K01 would create /etc/watchdog/shutdown, which watchdog would notice and not do any further network or process checks. K99 would actually stop the process. The startup script would automatically clear the shutdown file. Does that action of the rc files go against any Debian policies? You'd also have to consider the possibility of races between watchdog noticing that a process has stopped, and noticing that /etc/watchdog/shutdown has been created. The only way around this I can think of is that you somehow make sure that watchdog has noticed that the file has been created before you let K01 finish. Maybe by having it in turn create a /etc/watchdog/shutdown_ack file. Checking the runlevel frequently in watchdog could be 'expensive' in terms of CPU (I think it needs to parse the utmp file), and even more 'expensive' in trying to prevent races. James

Am Freitag, den 09.02.2007, 00:39 -0800 schrieb Devin Carraway: FWIW, liferea 1.2.5 was released recently; its changelist cites the fixing of a crash on 64-bit platforms. I've been using it for the past five or six days and haven't crashed it yet, which is better than 1.0.27-1 ever did. This deep in the Etch freeze it's probably not reasonable to try to do a major update, but the fix itself might be easily backportable. It could be worth to backport it. Bug#410185: dnsmasq: endless retry loop after server failure DNS response
Johannes Stezenbach wrote: Yes, that's correct, I have strict-order set. Ok. In that case I think a fully understand the problem. I use the resolvconf package to manage /etc/resolv.conf (no server= in dnsmasq.conf). I also sometimes have to use a VPN (using vpnc), thus I need strict-order for correct lookups. But the bug is reproducable without the VPN. Yep, just using --strict order is enough. My main connection is usually a DSL line, and I get two nameservers from pppoe. As a workaround, you might consider not using --strict-order, and specifying your VPN nameservers in /etc/dnsmasq.conf like so: server=/domain of VPN/IP of nameserver That way lookups which need to go to the VPN nameservers are send there, and everything else goes to the servers in /etc/resolv.conf There are a few unrelated issues to fix, so I anticipate a release to fix this in a week or so. The problem has existed in all dnsmasq releases for the last year or so. Cheers, Simon. Thanks, Johannes -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#410291: [patch] Change Finnish spellchecking to use high-quality Voikko
Package: tasksel Version: 2.66 Tags: patch Hello, Attached is a patch that changes the tasks for Finnish language to use the first high quality free software spell-checking and hyphenation solution, ie. Voikko. All packages are included in etch. Tmispell-voikko completely replaces ifinnish and wfinnish. Libenchant-voikko adds support for those programs (the next upstream version of libenchant will also include the plugin by itself). There's no direct replacement for aspell-fi and myspell-fi, but I recommend removing those from the default installation, since the quality of those is too low to be usable for writing Finnish. Furthermore, myspell-fi might cause problems with openoffice.org-voikko, requiring manual settings for the superior spell-checking to work. Those packages may be installed by anyone if it is really wanted, but the better solution is to eg. convert aspell/myspell using programs to use libenchant anyway, or wait for (theoretical) aspell/myspell-compatibility programs ala tmispell-voikko from the Voikko project. Naturally it'd be nice to have in etch, but do as you see fit. Bug#408118: ChessDB - free chess database
I'm maintaining ChessDB http://chessdb.sourceforge.net/ but don't have a Debian system here, so are unable to do any testing. Someone sent me a binary for Debian, which I put on the Sourceforge site: http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?group_id=184864use_mirror=puzzlefilename=chessdb_3.6.7-1_i386.deb85831364 but that is for an older release. I understand the name proposed by 'zako' is too long. Can I suggest: ChessDB - A multi-platform chess database Note the mix of upper and lower case in ChessDB. I've no idea of your conventions for Debian, so I'm sure if you want a unix name 'chessdb' would be appropriate. Bug#409875: [Pkg-cryptsetup-devel] Bug#409875: cannot setup device-mapper mapping ontop of /dev/md* device
Hi, I don't know where the error lies, but I created two loop devices loop0 and loop1, added them to a new RAID 1 md0 device, and ran cryptsetup on the resulting md0 successfully. Ditto. I've succesfully setup a crypto mapping on a raid1 device under qemu, which leads me to believe that it is something specific to Johannes setup. I have tried and I can successfully run cryptsetup on another raiddevice (md1) made from loopdevices without any problems. best regars, Johannes -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#410304: fluxbox: text ('strftimeFormat') width determenation error
Package: fluxbox Version: 0.9.15.1+1.0rc2-1 Severity: normal Tags: l10n I use UTF-8 encode (ru_RU.UTF-8 locale). Switching in monobyte encode (locale C or ru_RU.KOI8-R), I have normal form of 'time'. Obviously that problem is that text wide is determinied in bytes but not symbols (for locale ru_RU.UTF-8 my variant of 'strftimeFormat' line is more at 6 bytes than the same variant in local ru_RU.KOI8-R). Bug#410294: kqemu-common: Stop creating /dev/kqemu
On Friday 09 February 2007, Daniel Baumann wrote: severity 410294 normal tags 410294 pending thanks kqemu creates a device file in its postinst script using mknod. This violates Debian Policy 10.6. no. it is only a policy violation *iff* MAKEDEV knows about the device. it is already requested for inclusion, see #407345. ok. (although I doubt it will be accepted, major 250 is in the range intended for local/experimental uses) Additionally, it breaks usage of kqemu because it creates the node with the wrong device numbers (kqemu is configured to dynamically assign device numbers). the number is not wrong and does work here, what makes it failing for you? kqemu uses a dynamically assigned device number (default in 1.3.0pre11), on my system it used (10, 62) the last time. Udev did the right thing(tm) in this case and tried to create the correct device node, but failed because it already existed (due to the postinst). $ cat /etc/modprobe.d/kqemu options kqemu major=0 $ ls -la /dev/kqemu crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 10, 62 2007-02-09 14:34 /dev/kqemu If at all, it should use MAKEDEV to create the device node which spares udev system of such breakage. again, MAKEDEV does not (yet) know about it. Then the postinst has to check for udev, and not create the node if it is in use. (although this won't prevent using the wrong major/minor numbers) Alex. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#410307: dhcp3-client: -q command-line option has no dhclient.conf equivalent
Package: dhcp3-client Version: 3.0.4-13 Severity: wishlist It would be convenient to be able to specify in the configuration file (rather than on the command-line) that dhclient should be quiet. Indeed, it happens that dhclient is invoked by other programs which don't let one specify additiona command-line options. An example is the ifupdown package. It calls dhclient3 but it is not possible to specify other options than those encoded in ifupdown. Another approach would be that ifupdown calls an external script which would be responsible for finding out a DHCP client installed on the system. It depends how skilled you are with basic unix tools like diff. Well, I don't know how aptitudes man page is handled, so this might not be the case here, but the po format has also a distinctive advantage: You get to know that a change happend (because *fuzzy* message appear, which can easily be spotted by programms which send you e-mail, write it on a web page etc.). I cannot remember having ever received a note about a changed translated man page (without po). And I simply don't have the time to locate each and every revision control system (if any) and check for changes (which might have happend upstream, or in Debian, or in a separate patch applied by Debian ...). For po files you can find lots of web pages giving you the stats, for man pages you can find lots of bug reports (like this one) by users complaining that they are outdated. I like the current way of working with xml. It gives me much more freedom over .po. * I do not need to follow the original structure so closely Yes, this is a major drawback, because especially around examples the english version cannot be nicley translated into German also (e.g. the english version manages to put the entire description *before* the next paragraph with an example, while in German some words would have to go *after* the example as well, which is impossible since there is no paragraph there ...) * I can add footnotes or whole paragraphs specific for our language I only know very few examples where language specific content should be added, and sometimes (e.g. for charsets) this would be good for upstream as well, but yes, there are (some) cases. * It is easier to locate the context The po file is typically chronologically sorted, and you can easily build the man pages in a second (x)term for preview/review. With slrn_free (h-from); removed slrn works w/o segfaults. Yes, that's what I expected. However, simply removing the slrn_free() will result in lots of memleaks. I'm not sure what is happening, because the h-from is explicitly malloced in process_xover(), which is also the only place in the source (afaics) where any Slrn_Header_Type is malloced. So, the only thing I can think of is that slrn messes with the from field somewhere lese in the code. I'll try looking into it later today... -- Bas Zoetekouw

I just wanted to make shure, we are stil talking about the same setup :) Could you please try a new compile, this time, skip the previously mentioned patch and instead do the following changes: In fs/block_dev.c, add the following at the end of the function bd_claim() (just before the return): printk(claim: %d:%d %p - %d\n, MAJOR(bdev-bd_dev), MINOR(bdev-bd_dev), holder, res); In the same file, add to the end of the function bd_release(): printk(release: %d:%d\n, MAJOR(bdev-bd_dev), MINOR(bdev-bd_dev)); Recompile, install, reboot, try cryptsetup, and then send me the entire dmesg output It is attached; the way I see it, 9:0 is claimed during the setup of the md-device but never released. regarrds, Johannes .2-asso-50 ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc version 4.1.2 20061115 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.1-21)) #3 Fri Feb 9 16:45:38 CET 2007 BIOS-provided physical RAM map: BIOS-e820: - 0009fc00 (usable) BIOS-e820: 0009fc00 - 000a (reserved) BIOS-e820: 000f - 0010 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 0010 - 3fffc000 (usable) BIOS-e820: 3fffc000 - 3000 (ACPI data) BIOS-e820: 3000 - 4000 (ACPI NVS) BIOS-e820: fec0 - fec01000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: fee0 - fee01000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: - 0001 (reserved) Warning only 896MB will be used. Bug#410310: xview-clients: /usr/X11R6/bin/owplaces tries to exec 'xtoolplaces' which is not in debian
Package: xview-clients Version: 3.2p1.4-19 Severity: normal This package ships a short script (sarge) /usr/X11R6/bin/owplaces (etch) /usr/bin/owplaces The sarge version, at least, merely tries to exec 'xtoolplaces'. However, packages.debian.org lists no such file in either stable or testing. Package Contents Search Results You have searched for xtoolplaces in testing, architecture i386. Can't find that file, at least not in that distribution and on that architecture. Perhaps owplaces (which has no manpage) should just be removed? Bug#391846: shfs-source 0.35-6.2 does not compile with kernel 2.6.19.1
retitle 391846 shfs-source: fails to build with kernel = 2.6.19 severity 391846 important thanks On Fri, Feb 9, 2007 at 15:22:12 +0100, Sébastien Hinderer wrote: Hi, Sune Vuorela : You really need to be more informative about your system and about what fails. The system is a Debian/Unstable, it has been upgraded recently (a few hours ago). Linux kernel version is 2.6.20. I just built and installed it nicely with m-a a-i shfs. $ uname -r 2.6.18-1-vserver-k7 I could compile the package for a 2.6.18 kernel nicely, too. sid has 2.6.18, so I don't think this bug should be regarded as release critical. Bug#410314: aklog regression in behavior with Kerberos 1.6
package: openafs-krb5 Version: 1.4.2-3 Kerberos in experimental will return null realm names for krb5_get_realm_of_host when no domain_realm mapping exists. That's fine but aklog assumes that it knows the realm. You actually want to try afs/cell@ (null realm) because if your kdc has referrals this is good. But if your kerberos supports this behavior and if you get a null realm you want to fall back to cell as realm or to first component of db server removed from db server as realm. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
