If not, the conflict just needs to be reversed or changed into a versioned dependency. Another thing. This should be fixed and compiz 0.3.6 moved from experimental to unstable sometime in the not-too-distant future, because currently the (legitimate, I assume) conflict between compiz 0.2.2 and libmetacity0 = 2.15.21 prevents anyone from having both compiz and metacity up-to-date in unstable. Bug#423090: xserver-xorg-input-evdev: selecting evdev for keyboard driver crashes
We need a nice backtrace of the crash (when evdev is used for the keyboard). Could you install xserver-xorg-core-dbg and rebuild the evdev driver with debugging enabled (you might want to look at http://wiki.debian.org/HowToGetABacktrace to do so, and replace hello with xserver-xorg-input-evdev). Then try to capture a backtrace in gdb. Once the crash occurs, do bt full and send us the output. Since the server crashes immediatly, this method might work. If it does not, you might want to do that from another machine through ssh. Let me know if you need help. Thanks, Brice -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#418986: mediawiki1.9: General update after the debconf review process
Dear Debian maintainer, Some time ago, I sent you a notification about the beginning of a review action on debconf templates for mediawiki1.9. Then, I sent you a bug report with rewritten templates and annoucing the beginning of the second phase of this action: call for translation updates. Translators have been working hard and here is now the result of their efforts. Please consider using it EVEN if you committed files to your development tree as long as they were reported. The attached tarball contains: - debian/changelog with the list of changes - debian/control with rewrites of packages' descriptions - debian/templates with all the rewritten templates file(s) - debian/po/*.po with all PO files (existing ones and new ones) As said, please use *at least* the PO files as provided here, preferrably over those sent by translators in their bug reports. All of them have been checked and reformatted. In some cases, formatting errors have been corrected. The patch-nopo file contains a patch for the templates and control file(s). Please note that this patch applies to the templates and control file(s) of your package as of Saturday, May 12, 2007. If your package was updated in the meantime, I may have updated my reference copybut I also may have missed that. This is indeed why I suggested you do not modified such files while the review process was running, remember..:-) It is now safe to upload a new package version with these changes. Please notify me of your intents with regards to this. Bug#423476: Internal portaudio v19 libraries crash against JACK on AMD64

Please consider the attached patch as a similar workaround for the audacity package, until such time as this issue is fullly addressed. Thank you. JYD Free, others, JYD what is your opinion on this issue? What are exactly the consequences of this bug? How badly does it affect the usability of the program? 64 Studio has been shipping the current audacity 1.3.2 Debian package for a while, and we got no bug report about that. Bug#391892: Suggestion for the warning-mail
I have just ran into the same problem Stephen described and would like to suggest a simple way to solve the problem: I agree that admins tend to be lazy, so the warning should be repeated until resolved manually. However the mail about the non-empty paniclog contains no indication that manually emptying the paniclog is required or how to do that. So I suggest to add after resolving the error cause, please rotate away the paniclog by e.g. using 'logrotate -f /etc/logrotate.d/exim4-base'. to the mail message or some similar hint. This avoids the confusion of What? Still an error? I fixed that yesterday, didn't I?. Background: I also had a config error that in previous versions only yielded a warning and fixed it with the first mail about it. Next day, same warning. I looked and found nothing new, so I left it at it, assuming the paniclog file would rotate away now. A few days later I still get the mails and think hmm - rotates weekly?. After some more days I get annoyed and check to see it rotates on size. I was tempted to pull it to weekly, but then first checked if the problem was known and the discussion here convinced me that it is correct to require manual interaction, but think one should be told explicitly that it is required. Description: VDR plugin that provides extensive EPG searching capabilities This plugin for the Linux Video Disc Recorder (VDR) allows searching the EPG (electronic program guide) data by defining search terms that can permanently be stored in a list for later reuse. It supports regular expressions and is capable of doing fuzzy searches. EPG-Search scans the EPG in background and can automatically create timers for matching search terms. Besides this it supports searching for repetitions, detection of timer conflicts, sending emails on timer events and much more. Search terms can also be added and modified with the package vdradmin-am, a web frontend for VDR. They didn't need any changes to the packaging. I didn't experience any problems with gtkmm programs that I've been using. Bug#423504: RFP: powertop -- linux tool to find out what is using power on a laptop
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: powertop Version : 1.0 Upstream Author : Arjan van de Ven [EMAIL PROTECTED] * URL : http://www.linuxpowertop.org/ * License : GPL Programming Lang: C Description : linux tool to find out what is using power on a laptop PowerTOP is a Linux tool that finds the software component(s) that make your laptop use more power than necessary while it is idle. As of Linux kernel version 2.6.21, the kernel no longer has a fixed 1000Hz timer tick. This will (in theory) give a huge power savings because the CPU stays in low power mode for longer periods of time during system idle. However... there are many things that can ruin the party, both inside the kernel and in userspace. PowerTOP combines various sources of information from the kernel into one convenient screen so that you can see how well your system is doing, and which components are the biggest problem. It work best when the NO_HZ and CONFIG_TIMER_STATS kernel options are enabled. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-4-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. It also works with InterBase® 6.0, though it is expected it might only support Firebird in the future. It is a class library, free of any specific development tool dependencies. It is not tied to any ‘visual’ or ‘RAD’ tool. It was indeed developed to add Firebird access in any C++ application. Those applications using IBPP can be non-visual (CORBA/COM objects, other libraries of classes and functions, procedural ‘legacy’ code, for instance). It can of course also be used in visual or RAD environments. IBPP is indeed purely a dynamic SQL interface to Firebird. In some easy to use C++ classes, you will find nearly all what is needed to access a Firebird database, and manipulate the data. IBPP also offers access to most of the administrations tasks: creating a database, modifying its structure, performing online backups, administering user accounts on the server and so on. Bug#415127: installation-report: Graphical install does not work on Apple MacBook

If you have time, could you please try rebuilding directfb udeb with Ville's patch and rebuild a gtkminiiso for testing? I've tried an iso image using a custom udeb with that patch (without booting with newt and changing directfbrc): it hangs. Anything else I can try? any suggestion for debugging the problem? Could you please boot once again the custom iso and provide dfbinfo output again ? I've tried it but I got the same output as the one previously reported in #415127 We should attach that to a mail to directfb-dev explaining the issue and asking for advice. I've reported it in [1] and will send an update explaining that the patch did not have any effect I guess debugging linux_input on intel macs requires a db session in a standard debian environment I will try this Davide [1] http://mail.directfb.org/pipermail/directfb-dev/2007-May/003043.html signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Unfortunately, I needed to install some packages as a matter of some urgency, so ran apt-get dist-upgrade which seems to have fixed the problem with aptitude. Bug#423511: ITP: goattracker
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: goattracker Version : 2.61 Upstream Author : Lasse Öörni [EMAIL PROTECTED] * URL : http://covertbitops.c64.org/ * License : GNU GPL Description : C64 music editor This is a crossplatform C64 music editor. Supports emulated output via Dag Lem's reSID engine, the HardSID soundcard or CatWeasel MK3. . It supports emulated output via the software reSID engine, the HardSID soundcard, or the Catweasel (MK3/MK4) controller card, and produces songs in its own format (*.SNG). The program can also export tunes in SID format, BIN format, or Commodore PRG format for inclusion on a floppy you can stick into a 1541/1571/1581 drive. . Like most tracker programs, the program is able to import instrument files, create and modify track patterns, set the order of playback of patterns and change details of the song such as the title and author. If you are familiar with tracker-like programs, then GoatTracker will feel like a simple version of those, though with differences attributable to the hardware. People new to composing in general should look up other information on composing on the C64.
Bug#406830: libvte4: opening new tab in maximized gnome/xfce-terminal with hotkey does
Hi, unfortunatelly I'm still geetting the prompt issue. Using Xfce4 as desktop manager, 1280*1024 resolution (might be important as it behaves differently in full screen mode and maximized or normal size window mode). Does not depend on the terminal font selected (ok, did not test all but monospace, sans and serif :). Version of installed packages: libvte9 0.16.3-1 gnome-terminal 2.18.0-2 xfce4-terminal 0.2.6-1 Gnome-terminal: run in maximized window (menu visiblility does not affect the issue), press Ctrl-Shift-T, tab switching panel shows, the new tab has invisible prompt and blinking cursor. Switching tab or wndow forces the prompt to render. Occurs only for the second tab (e.g. when the tab switching panel was added). Works correctly when in full screen mode or normal size window. Xfce-terminal: run in maximized window (menu nor toolbar visiblility does not affect the issue), press Ctrl-Shift-T, tab switching panel shows, the new tab has not render prompt neither cursor. Switching tab or window forces the prompt and the cursor to render, pressing Enter on the new tab shows prompt on next line and bottom part (bellow the font baseline) of the first prompt. Occurs on every next new tab!. Works correctly when in full screen mode or normal size window. Michal On 4/26/07, Sven Arvidsson [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: When I create new tab using keyboard shortcut, the command prompt is not shown (just cursor in the top left corner). If I click mouse on the menu item, the prompt is shown.
