Maybe does this depend on the language (Ossama, were you installing in Arabic?)...or the text|graphical installer? /me is trying to do a test install with netinst beta1 and standard task in Arabic just now (without network during my daily commute, I can't do much more). signature.asc Description: Digital signature

I have production state on this tunnel so I had lack of time in investigating underlying causes. If you provide me with your wishes I can do tests under controlled circumstances. Do the logs indicate any kind of error message? Can you try exactly which version broke things? Can you for instance try if 0.9.8g-15+lenny8 still works? I've tried this with 0.9.8o-3 which has the same patch as 0.9.8g-15+lenny9, and it still works for me. I can also try this with a lenny based system, but I'm not going to try this this late in the evening. Kurt Hi Kurt, I just tested with libssl0.9.8_0.9.8g-15+lenny8_i386.deb and it works fine. just to be clear: I buy this tunnel as a service from an ISP to obtain a public, fixed ip address. I have no control about the config and I have ignored the WARNING in the bottom of the success log because the openvpn.conf was created by the ISP. I interpret the Warning as interface is brought up correctly and the server (my peer) is sending a somewhat misconfigured route. The solution is to multiplex/mix in software, most commonly done with pulseaudio these days. Don't you have pulseaudio installed? Also, make sure to redirect all ALSA output to pulseaudio. Bug#604773: [kspread] Time cells shown as 00:00 when ODS file is loaded, corrupted when saving as ODS
Package: kspread Version: 1:2.2.1-3 Severity: grave Tags: upstream fixed-upstream 2 days ago a new OOo migrated to squeeze and I decided to remove it, forgetting that I used Calc daily for my timesheet - ahem. So when I opened my timesheet yesterday, it didn't open with Calc, but with KSpread, which I also had installed. I thought I wouldn't bother to reinstall OOo just for that, so I added November 21's time, saved and closed. It's about time we started seeing the wonders of ODF, right? Today, I opened again the spreadsheet and noticed the times were really wrong. I asked on #koffice and was informed by Marijn Kruisselbrink this was a bug he had fixed for KOffice 2.3 (so no fix released yet). The upstream report is https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=253042 The precise details of this issue are not clear, but basically, when certain time values are saved in an ODS file, the time saved has some random data. When reopening the same file which looked OK, KSpread shows the time as 00:00:00. If you click the cell, you see the value in the top bar is the actual value - apparently. This does not work so well with other ODS programs, like Calc (and probably the fixed KSpread), which rather shows some more or less random values. What happened in my spreadsheet from Calc was that all durations of at least 1 hour were not corrupted, all others were corrupted. So the 25 minutes entries (00:25:00) were corrupted, but not 01:10:00. To reproduce, just create a new sheet, put 5:00 in A1, save, and watch the displayed value change to 0:00 when reopening the document. According to Marijn, there is no 2.2.3 planned. I don't think the fix was backported to branch 2.2, but Marijn doesn't think this would be hard. The fix is very short: http://websvn.kde.org/?revision=1183113view=revision -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#586066: Commited patches for all bugs in Debian Science SVN
Hi Rudi, I vaguely remember that you announced some kind of longer vacation from Debian (please correct me if I'm wrong) and thus I wonder whether you might agree to maintain libcomplearn in the Debian Science team. In case you would agree I would volunteer to upload the stuff I prepared at svn://svn.debian.org/svn/debian-science/packages/libcomplearn/trunk/ I do not want to hijack your package and none of the bugs is really urgent. However the watchfile typo is really annoying if I always stumble upon a false positive in the DEHS sentinel I want to implement. The two translation related bugs should also be rather taken over upstream than in a patch and considering you as upstream I would prefer if you rather would release a new upstream version. Please keep us updated what you think about the Debian Science move and how we should proceed with this package. Kind regards Andreas. -- http://fam-tille.de -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Knowing if the bug appears only while using gdm3 would help. I am using gdm3. I think I tried going into a session without going through gdm and had the same problem. If you'd like me to test something in a specific way, let me know. Anyway, don't you think that the bug is a real one even if not belonging to xserver-xorg-input-keyboard, and that Maik who reported it (in keyboard-configuration package) was let without answer and without hope ? Thank you for noticing. Since I have a viable workaround (set the same keyboard layout and options in GNOME as in keyboard-configuration), I had decided not to reopen and bitch about aggressive bug-closing this time and just let it go. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#604776: linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64: IPSec + SNAT slows down network performance, high number of software interrupts (%si in top)
Package: linux-2.6 Version: 2.6.32-27 Severity: normal Tags: squeeze When using the squeeze kernel (2.6.32 on amd64), the performance for IPSec tunnels that also need SNAT is very bad. I'm using OpenSWAN with shorewall (but that doesn't really matter, i think) I have several tunnels configured to do FIRST SNAT to a certain IP when packets come from our LAN that should go into the tunnel. Using this configuration the performance on the tunnel is about 300 Kb/s when copying large files. A test configuration without SNAT is capable of about 10 MB/s, with the same settings for IPSec. While transferring data over the tunnel, the number of software interrupts raises (up to 100% in top) and slows down all other (non-IPSec) connections. The machine hardware used, is more than capable for the IPSec traffic (quad-core XEON CPU). I had reported this problem to the shorewall developers and they couldn't reproduce, but used different linux kernels. As a test i installed another linux kernel (2.6.36) and the problem was gone. I used the config from the Debian kernel (2.6.32) and just answered to new configuration questions. The relevant thread on the shorewall list is here (more information): http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=20101015103504.GJ4773%40kropotkin.neuland-bfi.deforum_name=shorewall-users Since the 2.6.32 kernel is the long term supported kernel for the next debian release, the problem described briefly above should be known to the developers. I think the problem raises only for special configurations. Some combination of NIC and Kernel. We haven't had this problem before (even with slower hardware) and are not having it with the new 2.6.36 kernel. Package: gettext Version: 0.18.1.1-1 User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com Usertags: origin-ubuntu natty I didn't yet check, why, but when linked with --as-needed by default, the dependencies on various libraries don't end up in the package. Passing --no-as-needed works around it. Passing --as-needed should show the issue. Bug#604676: linux-2.6: include fix for aluminium powerbooks keyboards
On mar., 2010-11-23 at 14:26 +0100, Yves-Alexis Perez wrote: The commit seems to be 54a6593d65e638ad7e1e8cc986159d76054dab4b and is not included in Squeeze kernel. I've opened a bug against xkb-data (#604671) to revert the fix until the Debian kernel includes the patch but it'd be nice to include it for Squeeze (though I could understand it's not a priority). I've tried to rebuild the Squeeze kernel with the patch above (many thanks for debian/bin/test-patches, it's really convenient, by the way), and it doesn't really seem to fix the problem. I can set the iso_layout parameter but it doesn't change anything, and more, it seems to prevent the xkb-data fix to work from inside X (running setxkbmap -option apple:badmap doesn't change anything, I have to put it into /etc/default/keyboard). So it seems safe to not include it for now in Squeeze kernel, I'll open a bug upstream and report back when I have more news. The xkb-data fix alone seems to work fine for now. The package is already ready in svn, though an unstable upload will wait for a released Xfce 4.8. Thanks for tracking this though. The thing is, I'm not sure we'll be able to get rid of hal completely on kFreeBSD, do you have any pointer on this? Yeah, this is very unfortunate. Afaik there have been no efforts from the (k)freebsd to get applications ported. This means hal will stay around (at least on kfreebsd), but I want to get it removed for Linux at least. But tbh, I think integrating a proper help system (based on yelp) would be much more valuable to our users as you can e.g. include graphics/screenshots and it is directly accessible from within the gui. See [1] for more details if you are interested in working on this. The man page itself has a few formatting errors (e.g. ..TH, should be .TH) and is very short. It doesn't really offer more information than the package description and the output of palimpsest --help. Bug#579312: package canna failed to purge: /usr/sbin/deluser: The user `canna' does not exist.
Hi Jean-Baptiste! * Jean-Baptiste Lallement jeanbaptiste.lallem...@gmail.com [100427 00:24]: In Ubuntu, we've applied the attached patch to achieve the following: * debian/postrm: don't fail if canna user is already deleted (LP: #569678) We thought you might be interested in doing the same. While I'm not the maintainer of the package, but just a fellow DD who looked through the list of release critical bugs, I like to comment on the proposed patch: -deluser --remove-home canna +deluser --remove-home canna /dev/null 21 || true Sorry, but that is a quite ugly solution. Ignoring *all* errors deluser might show? And then even hiding all information from the user? What if deluser fails for an other reason? A better solution would be to check the return value of deluser (it sends a sepperate exit code, if the user didn't exists) or simple checking the existence of the user before trying to remove it. Best solution woudl of course to check why the postrm script is called twice, but just hiding all errors is nice bike shedding, but not a propper fix. Bug#604805: kmail: unusable with $HOME on OpenAFS due to Akonadi not starting
Package: kmail Version: 4:4.4.7-2 Severity: important KMail is unusable with $HOME on OpenAFS: it starts and is usable, but after a few moments an error message stating that akonadi could not be started shows up. KMail then exits: kmail(4842)/libakonadi Akonadi::Control::Private::exec: Could not start/stop Akonadi! kmail(4842) main: Unable to start Akonadi server, exit application The problem with starting Akonadi is that it tries to create a UNIX socket in $HOME/.local/share/akonadi/db_misc/mysql.socket. This is not possible with OpenAFS. See also the attached report. I see two possible solutions for this problem: a) Akonadi should create the socket elsewhere. Other parts of KDE seem to use /tmp/ksocket-$USER here (or $HOME/.kde/socket-$HOSTNAME which is a symlink to the directory in /tmp). b) KMail should not exit when it cannot start Akonadi. Bug#604793: [Pkg-xfce-devel] Bug#604793: Please package newer upstream release without hal dependency
On mer., 2010-11-24 at 13:07 +0100, Michael Biebl wrote: Well, to be honest, the fact that replacement relies on udev which is Linux-only doesn't help :) To be more specific: upower already has a freebsd backend (for stuff like xfce-power-manager) udisks does not and is currently Linux-only. GIO/GVFS uses udisks/g-d-u on Linux and hal on kfreebsd in Debian. If the xfce apps use GIO they should not be concerned about how the lower layers are implemented. Yeah, I think we're quite safe on this for now, we don't use udisks directly. But some plugins still require thunar-vfs which in turns use hal. Those will have to be dropped (or kept for kFreeBSD :) Do you have a more specific questions regarding this topic? Bug#579312: canna: diff for NMU version 3.7p3-6.5
Hi! * Alexander Reichle-Schmehl toli...@debian.org [101124 11:50]: -deluser --remove-home canna +# see http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2002/10/msg00345.html +# debhelper might cause this script to be called twice on purge +# therefore test, if the user exists before trying to remove it +if getent passwd canna /dev/null ; then + deluser --remove-home canna +fi Rethinking, that is still wrong, as deluser (part of the non-essential adduser package) might not be present during postrm's purge. There's even a piuparts report about that problem (see http://piuparts.debian.org/sid/fail/canna_3.7p3-6.4.log). Bug#521165: I have this problem too.
autofs5 5.0.3-3 Debian Lenny I experience exactly the same problem. I have diferent systems in diferent archs (i386, mips and armel) and all of them show the same behavior. Tried configuring autofs passing -t 120 for timeout, configuring timeout in /etc/default/autofs a nothing: Automount mounts the directory but never umounts it. Tried with diferent timeouts and diferent directories. I'm using indirect maps (the standard way) and automount reports in syslog that the timeout is correct (120) but never logs nothing about trying to umount any mountpoint. Stopping autofs doesn't umount any map and I have to umount it manually (and umounts ok without any problem). I see that this bug is some quite old. ¿anybody is looking for this? -- -- Marc Franquesa Lady 3Jane http://www.l3jane.net/ Nexus -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
