Bug#629032: Please link the whole configuration directory
Package: roundcube Version: 0.5.2+dfsg-1~bpo60+1 Severity: wishlist As far as I can tell, roundcube currently symlinks individual config files vom /var/lib/roundcube/config to /etc/roundcube. When using include_host_config, this means that one has to manually create symlinks in /var/lib/roundcube/config for the individual host configuration files. A better approach would be to symlink the whole directory /var/lib/roundcube/config to /etc/roundcube. When doing this, be aware that the current install scripts need to be modified. I have aforementioned directory symlink in place and the last upgrade wreaked havoc and overwrite my configuration: Setting up roundcube-core (0.5.2+dfsg-1~bpo60+1) ... dbconfig-common: writing config to /etc/dbconfig-common/roundcube.conf dbconfig-common: flushing administrative password chown: cannot dereference `/etc/roundcube/main.inc.php': Too many levels of symbolic links […] A look into /etc/roundcube reveals the problem: # ls -l total 140 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1322 Aug 20 2010 apache.conf lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root25 Jun 3 07:53 db.inc.php - /etc/roundcube/db.inc.php -rw-r- 1 root www-data 566 May 28 10:29 debian-db.php -rw--- 1 root root 548 Jun 3 08:03 debian-db.php.ucf-dist -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1145 Apr 23 23:21 htaccess -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 567 Feb 13 2010 lighttpd.conf lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root27 Jun 3 07:53 main.inc.php - /etc/roundcube/main.inc.php -rw-r- 1 root root 51558 Jun 3 08:03 main.inc.php.ucf-dist -rw-r- 1 root root 51558 Jun 3 08:03 main.inc.php.ucftmp lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root28 Jun 3 07:53 mimetypes.php - /etc/roundcube/mimetypes.php drwxr-xr-x 10 root root 4096 May 30 08:56 plugins drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 May 31 07:59 skins -rw-r- 1 root www-data 1637 May 31 07:49 webmail.X.inc.php -rw-r- 1 root www-data 1771 May 31 07:58 webmail.XXX.inc.php -rw-r- 1 root www-data 1872 May 31 07:32 webmail.XXX.inc.php -rw-r- 1 root www-data 2100 May 31 07:33 webmail.XX.inc.php -- .''`. martin f. krafft madduck@d.o Related projects: : :' : proud Debian developer http://debiansystem.info `. `'` http://people.debian.org/~madduckhttp://vcs-pkg.org `- Debian - when you have better things to do than fixing systems digital_signature_gpg.asc Description: Digital signature (see http://martin-krafft.net/gpg/sig-policy/999bbcc4/current)

Bug#629033: override: klavaro:x11/extra
Package: ftp.debian.org http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=608111 If you feel the override is incorrect then please file a bug against ftp.debian.org and explain why. The package klavaro has priority extra because of libgtkdatabox-dev. http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html#s-priorities Packages must not depend on packages with lower priority values (excluding build-time dependencies). In order to ensure this, the priorities of one or more packages may need to be adjusted. So I think that the override is incorrect. Bug#629032: Please link the whole configuration directory
OoO En ce doux début de matinée du vendredi 03 juin 2011, vers 08:15, martin f krafft madd...@debian.org disait : A better approach would be to symlink the whole directory /var/lib/roundcube/config to /etc/roundcube. Or to a subdirectory since /etc/roundcube also contains non PHP files that may be sensitive. While moving configuration files is now easily done with the help of `dpkg-maintscript-helper`, I will break setup of some users by replacing /var/lib/roundcube/config by a symlink. Initially, /var/lib/roundcube/config was not a symlink because some files where not symlinked. Now all files are symlinked by default, it seems sensitive to make the switch. -- Vincent Bernat ☯ http://www.luffy.cx Don't over-comment. - The Elements of Programming Style (Kernighan Plauger) pgptmRZsg5J9k.pgp Description: PGP signature

Quoting Daniel Glassey (dglas...@gmail.com): Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist X-Debbugs-CC: pkg-fonts-de...@lists.alioth.debian.org We should probably target fonts-abattis-cantarell as package name as per our recent-but-yet-to-be-published fonts packaging policy. Or maybe even fonts-cantarell if the foundry makes less sense. Homepage: http://abattis.org/cantarell/ License: SIL Open Font Licence v1.1. it is the open font used by Gnome 3 and the source is developed in gnome git http://git.gnome.org/browse/cantarell-fonts/tree I haven't found a released tarball for the font source. One can indeed download an non-versioned ZIP file with only TTF files, but I think it would be worth having the package building TTF and OTF files from source. signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#629034: collectd-core: collectd crashes with badly formatted From/Recipient address when 'notify_email' plugin is used
Package: collectd-core Version: 4.10.1-1+squeeze2 Severity: normal When notify_email plugin is used, and if a configuration option for it is not OK, collectd crashes. Example of a wrong configuration: LoadPlugin notify_email Plugin notify_email From collectd@host Recipient admin@host /Plugin The problem is that the values should be surrounded by quotes, however this seems to be ignored and then the value becomes collectd host, and as a result an error occurs when collectd tries to use this as a valid email address. I am not sure what the upstream's idea of a proper fix is, so no patch is attached, but I believe I have included enough information so they can fix this easily. The crash occurs in: notify_email.c, function print_recipient_status: if (status-text[strlen(status-text) - 2] == '\r') status-text[strlen(status-text) - 2] = 0; Here status-text is a NULL pointer so a check needs to be added to guard against it, or even better, a warning should be generated when parsing a config file. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0.1 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages collectd-core depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.36.1 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.11.2-10 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libltdl7 2.2.6b-2 A system independent dlopen wrappe Versions of packages collectd-core recommends: ii perl 5.10.1-17 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction pn rrdtool none (no description available) Versions of packages collectd-core suggests: pn apache2 none (no description available) pn apcupsd none (no description available) pn bind9 none (no description available) pn collectd-devnone (no description available) ii hddtemp 0.3-beta15-46hard drive temperature monitoring pn httpd-cgi none (no description available) ii iptables1.4.8-3 administration tools for packet fi pn ipvsadm none (no description available) pn libatk1.0-0 none (no description available) ii libc6 2.11.2-10Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib pn libcairo2 none (no description available) pn libconfig-general-perl none (no description available) ii libcurl3-gnutls 7.21.0-1 Multi-protocol file transfer libra pn libdbi0 none (no description available) pn libdbus-1-3 none (no description available) pn libdbus-glib-1-2none (no description available) ii libesmtp5 1.0.4-5 LibESMTP SMTP client library pn libfontconfig1 none (no description available) ii libfreetype62.4.2-2.1FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgcrypt11 1.4.5-2 LGPL Crypto library - runtime libr ii libglib2.0-02.24.2-1 The GLib library of C routines pn libgtk2.0-0 none (no description available) pn libhal1 none (no description available) pn libhtml-parser-perl none (no description available) pn libmemcached5 none (no description available) pn libmysqlclient16none (no description available) pn libnotify1 none (no description available) pn libnotify1-gtk2.10 none (no description available) pn libopenipmi0none (no description available) pn liboping0 none (no description available) pn libpango1.0-0 none (no description available) ii libpcap0.8 1.1.1-2 system interface for user-level pa pn libperl5.10 none (no description available) pn libpq5 none (no description available) pn libprotobuf-c0 none (no description available) ii libpython2.62.6.6-8+b1 Shared Python runtime library (ver pn libregexp-common-perl none (no description available) pn librrd4 none (no description available) pn librrds-perlnone (no description available) ii libsensors4 1:3.1.2-6library to read temperature/voltag pn libsnmp15 none (no description available) ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8o-4squeeze1 SSL shared libraries pn libtokyotyrant3 none (no description available) pn libupsclient1 none (no description

Bug#620958: Bug 620958
Hi I just purged over 2000 old packages, about 600 of them generated the missing arch warning for every dpkg run which was annoying to say the least. Obviously it was not an alternative to do the cleaning manually. I also found 5 packages which were properly installed but also generated warnings. Yes, they have been installed since before 2004 and have not been changed after that. I had to reinstall them. It looks to me as this warning is not really valid, I got it on only because my install is old. That said, it was probably good that it forced me to clean out all that crap. Thanks

Bug#628796: fsprotect: /bin/touch missing in initrd

Bug#629048: fuser prints spurious warning due race condition in check_dir between readdir() and stat() calls
Package: psmisc Version: 22.11-1 Severity: normal Tags: patch Forwarded: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailaid=3310990group_id=15273atid=115273 Hi, on a busy system there's a little time window where the open file descriptors could cease to exist, but there are already listed in readdir() output. The attached patch just silences the fuser in case the error from stat() is ENOENT. This doesn't really remove the race condition, which is probably impossible to do, since on busy system there's even a small possibility that the PID gets recycled before fuser ends reading it's file descriptors, and even snapshoting the /proc wouldn't help, but the warning printed to stderr is just unneccesary (see the #626640 for original bug report leading to this patch). Bug#626640: [php-maint] Bug#626640: Cron spam
Hi, yes, it looks like race condition in fuser.c indeed... But it needs to be fixed in psmisc. You can silence your cron by doing: fuser -s {} 2/dev/null But I think the correct way is to fix fuser to not print the error in case of ENOENT (See #629048). O. On Mon, May 23, 2011 at 19:10, Bob Proulx b...@proulx.com wrote: Marcus Cobden wrote: I've been running the updated crontab on a server since my last email and have been getting emails like this from the cron daemon: Cannot stat file /proc/8419/fd/1: No such file or directory Cannot stat file /proc/8419/fd/2: No such file or directory Cannot stat file /proc/8419/fd/3: No such file or directory I presume it's fuser printing this as the files its been told to look at no longer exist. (They've probably been garbage collected by php) I think that is odd to be getting those messages and I don't understand why they would be happening. It wouldn't be from php garbage collecting. I think (but am not sure) that it must be a race between a process active on the session file going away during exit such that the /proc/$pid still exists but that the files associated with it have already been cleaned up. If that is the issue then I think you must have a very active system indeed to be seeing this with any regularity. I have a very quiet system and I have not seen that message. I tried to trigger it but was unable to do so. (shrug) Are you sure the message is coming from fuser? Can you run the commands manually and verify this? I am thinking of something simple such as this: # for f in /var/lib/php5/*; do echo $f; fuser -s $f; done Would it be safe to add a 2 /dev/null to this? Are there any other error conditions we might actually want to hear about? That would probably be fine. I won't object (like I did before) to it. But here is my concern about ignoring errors. If fuser experiences an error then the exit code will be non-zero. As currently constructed if the fuser exit code is non-zero then find will invoke the -delete action. If we ignore errors then it is possible for fuser to *always* experience an error, -delete always to be called, and no one would ever know. At that point the reason for having added the fuser in the first place would not be getting addressed at all. In that case it might as well not be there. It would be exactly the same as before when you filed the original bug report. Since the code needs to work in order to address this problem that you reported then if we ignore errors it might very well never actually address the problem. Ignoring errors historically often creates situations such as this and so makes me nervous unless it is fully understood. Bug#629066: base-files: Don't migrate to testing until SELinux refpolicy is fixed

Files as is after package install: -rwsr-sr-x 1 sympa sympa 608094 Oct 28 2010 wwsympa.fcgi -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root2816 Oct 28 2010 wwsympa-wrapper.fcgi Had to change perms/owner to: -rwxr-xr-x 1 sympa sympa 608094 Oct 28 2010 wwsympa.fcgi -rwsr-sr-x 1 sympa sympa 2816 Oct 28 2010 wwsympa-wrapper.fcgi (chmod ug-s wwsympa.fcgi; chown sympa.sympa wwsympa-wrapper.fcgi; chmod ug+s wwsympa-wrapper.fcgi). Please review this and correct the package if you agree with this fix. Thanks.
