Bug#629032: Please link the whole configuration directory

2011-06-03 Thread martin f krafft
Package: roundcube
Version: 0.5.2+dfsg-1~bpo60+1
Severity: wishlist

As far as I can tell, roundcube currently symlinks individual config files vom
/var/lib/roundcube/config to /etc/roundcube. When using
include_host_config, this means that one has to manually create
symlinks in /var/lib/roundcube/config for the individual host
configuration files.

A better approach would be to symlink the whole directory
/var/lib/roundcube/config to /etc/roundcube.

When doing this, be aware that the current install scripts need to
be modified. I have aforementioned directory symlink in place and
the last upgrade wreaked havoc and overwrite my configuration:

  Setting up roundcube-core (0.5.2+dfsg-1~bpo60+1) ...

  dbconfig-common: flushing administrative password
chown: cannot dereference `/etc/roundcube/main.inc.php': Too many levels of
symbolic links

No worries. It's not urgent.

Bug#629033: override: klavaro:x11/extra

2011-06-03 Thread Bart Martens
Package: ftp.debian.org

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=608111

If you feel the override is incorrect then please file a bug against
 ftp.debian.org and explain why.

The package klavaro has priority extra because of libgtkdatabox-dev.

http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html#s-priorities

Packages must not depend on packages with lower priority values (excluding
build-time dependencies). In order to ensure this, the priorities of one or
more packages may need to be adjusted.

So I think that the override is incorrect.

Regards,

Bart Martens

A better approach would be to symlink the whole directory
 /var/lib/roundcube/config to /etc/roundcube.

Or to a subdirectory since /etc/roundcube also contains non PHP files
that may be sensitive. While moving configuration files is now easily
done with the help of `dpkg-maintscript-helper`, I will break setup of
some users by replacing /var/lib/roundcube/config by a symlink.

Initially, /var/lib/roundcube/config was not a symlink because some
files where not symlinked. Now all files are symlinked by default, it
seems sensitive to make the switch.

We should probably target fonts-abattis-cantarell as package name as
per our recent-but-yet-to-be-published fonts packaging policy. Or
maybe even fonts-cantarell if the foundry makes less sense.

 Homepage: http://abattis.org/cantarell/
License: SIL Open Font Licence v1.1.

it is the open font used by Gnome 3 and the source is developed in gnome git
 http://git.gnome.org/browse/cantarell-fonts/tree

I haven't found a released tarball for the font source. One can
indeed download an non-versioned ZIP file with only TTF files, but I
think it would be worth having the package building TTF and OTF files
from source.

Bug#629034: collectd-core: collectd crashes with badly formatted From/Recipient address when 'notify_email' plugin is used

2011-06-03 Thread Goran K
Package: collectd-core
Version: 4.10.1-1+squeeze2
Severity: normal

When notify_email plugin is used, and if a configuration option for it
is not OK, collectd crashes. Example of a wrong configuration:

LoadPlugin notify_email

Plugin notify_email
   From collectd@host
   Recipient admin@host
/Plugin

The problem is that the values should be surrounded by quotes, however
this seems to be ignored and then the value becomes collectd host,
and as a result an error occurs when collectd tries to use this as
a valid email address.

I am not sure what the upstream's idea of a proper fix is, so no
patch is attached, but I believe I have included enough information
so they can fix this easily.

The crash occurs in:

notify_email.c, function print_recipient_status:

  if (status-text[strlen(status-text) - 2] == '\r')
status-text[strlen(status-text) - 2] = 0;

Here status-text is a NULL pointer so a check needs to be added
to guard against it, or even better, a warning should be generated
when parsing a config file.

Bug#629037: gnome-doc-utils: po files do not get rebuild when .xml changes

2011-06-03 Thread Helge Kreutzmann
Package: gnome-doc-utils
Version: 0.20.1-1
Severity: normal

I maintain goobox and noticed that the po files in the help section do
not get rebuild from the xml sources, i.e.
helge@remaxp:/tmp/goobox/help$ pwd
/tmp/goobox/help
helge@remaxp:/tmp/goobox/help$ ls C
goobox.xml legal.xml

If any of these two changes (most notably goobox.xml) then

make po
should update the po files; unfortunately it doesn't.

As far as I can tell (I'm not sure I understand the inwards of all
the make files correctly) the following fixes this:

Bug#620958: Bug 620958

2011-06-03 Thread Fredrik Hallenberg
Hi I just purged over 2000 old packages, about 600 of them generated the
missing arch warning for every dpkg run which was annoying to say the
least.
Obviously it was not an alternative to do the cleaning manually.

I also found 5 packages which were properly installed but also generated
warnings. Yes, they have been installed since before 2004 and have not been
changed after that. I had to reinstall them.

It looks to me as this warning is not really valid, I got it on only because
my install is old. That said, it was probably good that it forced me to
clean out all that crap.

Thanks

Bug#628525: libsasl2-modules-gssapi-mit: authentication now fails always

I'm starting to suspect this is a client side problem (with imtest). With
the patch below, this command works:

cyradm --auth gssapi --tlskey imap.example.org

but this command still produces the error you're seeing:

imtest -m gssapi -t imap.example.org

I wonder if this might have something to do with changes due to the recent
starttls vulnerability. I'll take a closer look.

This was also due to a bug in gssapi.c. See:

Yes, in mod_ldap 2.9 there are a good number of directives changes, so
we still have to add a NEWS entry and modify templates. Also user
documentation will be updated at upstream release time, as expected.
You need to use LDAPBindDN AFAIK.

Bug#628796: fsprotect: /bin/touch missing in initrd

2011-06-03 Thread V13
On Wednesday 01 of June 2011, Stephan Lange wrote:
 Package: fsprotect
 Version: 1.0.5
 Severity: grave
 Justification: renders package unusable

The initramfs scripts of fsprotect use touch to create /fastboot which
tells fsck to skip the filesystem check on boot. However, /bin/touch is
not available in my initrd. So on boot fsck is complaining about the root
filesystem and I end up on a maintenance shell. To work around this, I
created another hook for initramfs which copies /bin/touch to my initrd
and now it works as expected.

Thanks for the report. I'll fix it in the next release.

Bug#464548: mailping: latency not calculated because import string is missing in file maildir.py

2011-06-03 Thread Serafeim Zanikolas
Hi,

Version 0.0.4-0.1 of mailping as shipped in stable does not use atof on line
 67. The version in unstable (0.0.4-2) indeed uses atof to fix a bug, but
properly imports string so doesn't raise the error.

wget
http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/main/m/mailping/mailping_0.0.4-2.diff.gz
-O - | zgrep -n string
394:+return string.atof(%s.%s % (seconds, microseconds))

So it does use string.atof and it does not import string.

Cheers,
Serafeim

Bug#629038: ghci available on sparc, should provide ghc-ghci

2011-06-03 Thread Joachim Breitner

Severity: normal

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

Hi,

it seems that ghci is available on sparc, but the ghc package does not
provide ghc-ghci. Sparc should be added to the list of arches in
debian/rules or, even better, the ghc-ghci substvar should be added iff
the ghci binary is available.

But we should postbone this change until after we got ghc-7 into testing
once.

Greetings,
Joachim

Could you try with a *netboot* variant of the installer?

Excuse my ignorance, but do you mean the files from [1]?

Installing Debian with a USB medium I always used the files from [2] and
the above mentioned ISO and it worked. Is that not supported anymore or
do you want me to just try it for testing purposes?

The key point is the version of the iso-scan package that's used: either 1.31
 or 1.35

How do I find out what version is used?

Thanks,

Bug#629048: fuser prints spurious warning due race condition in check_dir between readdir() and stat() calls

Hi,

on a busy system there's a little time window where the open file
descriptors could cease to exist, but there are already listed in
readdir() output.

The attached patch just silences the fuser in case the error from
stat() is ENOENT.

This doesn't really remove the race condition, which is probably
impossible to do, since on busy system there's even a small
possibility that the PID gets recycled before fuser ends reading it's
file descriptors, and even snapshoting the /proc wouldn't help, but
the warning printed to stderr is just unneccesary (see the #626640 for
original bug report leading to this patch).

until segfault (after about 30 mins), probably because it is out of memory.
I have not been able to get rid of the problem by updating or dpkg cleaning.
Normal update/upgrade with apt-get works fine.
Tell me if you want logs or other data.

Bug#626640: [php-maint] Bug#626640: Cron spam

2011-06-03 Thread Ondřej Surý
Hi,

yes, it looks like race condition in fuser.c indeed...

But it needs to be fixed in psmisc.

You can silence your cron by doing:

fuser -s {} 2/dev/null

But I think the correct way is to fix fuser to not print the error in
case of ENOENT (See #629048).

Cannot stat file /proc/8419/fd/2: No such file or directory
Cannot stat file /proc/8419/fd/3: No such file or directory

I presume it's fuser printing this as the files its been told to
 look at no longer exist.
(They've probably been garbage collected by php)

I think that is odd to be getting those messages and I don't
understand why they would be happening.  It wouldn't be from php
garbage collecting.  I think (but am not sure) that it must be a race
between a process active on the session file going away during exit
such that the /proc/$pid still exists but that the files associated
with it have already been cleaned up.  If that is the issue then I
think you must have a very active system indeed to be seeing this with
any regularity.  I have a very quiet system and I have not seen that
message.  I tried to trigger it but was unable to do so. (shrug)

Are you sure the message is coming from fuser?  Can you run the
commands manually and verify this?  I am thinking of something simple
 such as this:

  # for f in /var/lib/php5/*; do echo $f; fuser -s $f; done

Would it be safe to add a 2 /dev/null to this? Are there any
other error conditions we might actually want to hear about?

That would probably be fine.  I won't object (like I did before) to
it.  But here is my concern about ignoring errors.

If fuser experiences an error then the exit code will be non-zero.  As
currently constructed if the fuser exit code is non-zero then find
will invoke the -delete action.  If we ignore errors then it is
possible for fuser to *always* experience an error, -delete always to
be called, and no one would ever know.  At that point the reason for
having added the fuser in the first place would not be getting
addressed at all.  In that case it might as well not be there.  It
would be exactly the same as before when you filed the original bug
report.  Since the code needs to work in order to address this problem
that you reported then if we ignore errors it might very well never
actually address the problem.  Ignoring errors historically often
creates situations such as this and so makes me nervous unless it is
 fully understood.

 Bob

Bug#629051: KDE4 default profile: use other konsole colour scheme as default

2011-06-03 Thread Mike Gabriel

Package: debian-edu-config
Version: SVN+r73284
Severity: wishlist

The current default konsole colour scheme is hardly readable with the
default Skolelinux desktop artwork.

I recommend tweaking the default KDE4 profile in a way that the
default colour scheme for konsole is: black on bright yellow (schwarz
auf hellgelb).

whereas

o LTSP diskless workstations do not freeze (same hardware)
o X2go thin clients (same hardware) do not freeze either

Bug#629053: KDE4 profile: media icons not appearing

2011-06-03 Thread Mike Gabriel

Package: debian-edu-config
Version: SVN+r73284

With a default KDE4 profile from Debian Edu I observed that media
icons (USB, CDROM, ...) do not appear on the desktop or similar.

What is the default expectable behaviour here.

With DebianEdu's GNOME, media icons appear on the desktop. I guess,
such a mechanism is really helpful to people that are still
pre-conditioned for the expectation of finding drive letters on
computers ;-)

Bug#629056: false-postive: Java jars containing Maven plugins should not generate missing-classpath

2011-06-03 Thread James Page
Package: lintian
Version: 2.5.0
Severity: normal

JAR files containing maven plugins should not really generate a
missing-classpath warning; plugins should only ever be used by
the maven build system (which uses XML files for dependency
management) and hence are not used at runtime which is the intent
of the missing-classpath warning..

Maven plugin JAR's normally contain the following file:

  META-INF/maven/plugin.xml

This should be a reliable way of detecting this situation.

Bug#629059: errors on LTSP boot

Package: debian-edu-install
Version: SVN+r73284
Severity: minor

there are quite some visible errors during LTSP boot that might be
easy to fix.

Note: errors visible on every LTSP client should (my opinion) be
avoided or silenced as they confuse the user and lead to certain
points of views on Debian Edu that I would love to avoid.

Another option would be using a splash screen for LTSP systems.

One of the errors is this:

missing files for bind mounting: /etc/syslog.conf, some more files

You can try manually running update-apt-xapian-index --force to force

Bug#629066: base-files: Don't migrate to testing until SELinux refpolicy is fixed

2011-06-03 Thread Roger Leigh
Package: base-files
Version: 6.4
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

Hi Santiago,

This is not a bug in base-files!; it's due to #628039 in initscripts:

Don't allow migration to testing because until SELinux refpolicy
is updated to support /run, the system is rendered unusable for
SELinux users.

Because testing migration doesn't currently consider Breaks, base-files
would migrate prior to sysvinit/initscripts, which would result in
breakage (or at least uninstallability, which testing tries to avoid).
As soon as SELinux refpolicy is updated, we can let sysvinit into
testing and base-files can migrate at the same time. So this bug is
just to block testing migration temporarily.

Regards,
Rogger

Bug#629075: iputils-tracepath: tracepath6 reports the wrong number of return hops in resume

2011-06-03 Thread Bjørn Mork
Package: iputils-tracepath
Version: 3:20100418-3
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

The return hop guessing is only applied to intermediate hops (EHOSTUNREACH)
but not to the final hop (ECONNREFUSED). This makes the back value
reported in the resume bogus, as is easily demostrated by tracing to
localhost:

bjorn@canardo:~$ tracepath6 ::1
 1?: [LOCALHOST]0.016ms pmtu 16436
 1: ip6-localhost 0.063ms reached
 1: ip6-localhost 0.031ms reached
 Resume: pmtu 16436 hops 1 back 64

This can be fixed by moving the guessing logic out of the switch
as shown in the attached patch.

Bug#629076: Please remove call to soon to disappear 'update-openoffice-dicts'

2011-06-03 Thread Agustin Martin
Package: myspell-cs

Hi,

Your package still uses an entry in maintainer scripts that calls the
soon to disappear update-openoffice-dicts script in a way that will
fail once it is removed.

If you use dictionaries-common-dev debhelper snippets, please rebuild
your package against at least dictionaries-common-dev 1.10.5 and adjust
Build-Depends accordingly.

Otherwise just remove that part from maintainer scripts.

Thanks in advance,

wouldnt it be better to change our artwork?

This backtrace is useless.
Please install network-manager-dbg and run NetworkManager in gdb.

Also, you have a very strange mix of

This makes it even harder to debug this problem.

Could you try and setup a clean unstable system (with only nm from
experimental) and try to reproduce the problem there.

Bug#629079: Proposed-RM: libextutils-install-perl -- RoM; uninstallable, provided by perl

Hi,

I suggest to remove libextutils-install-perl from unstable. It is not
installable as a newer version is provided by perl (which conflicts with
older versions of libextutils-install-perl), and a newer version hasn't
been released on CPAN for quite some time.

If there are no objections, I'll reassign this bug to the FTP team on
the weekend.

Please find attached the requested dmidecode dump. Hopefully that
helps coming up with an alternative detection method although from
what I can see the dump does not look too promising (maybe some OEM
field).

BTW, the patch at [1] (or an equivalent) will be necessary even f you
come up with an alternative detection method as the newer ThinkPads do
not seem to support setting start thresholds, which caused setting the
stop thresholds to fail.

Bug#629080: extlinux: can't find kernel image /boot/extlinux/memdisk with separate /boot partition

2011-06-03 Thread RjY
Package: extlinux
Version: 2:4.04+dfsg-2
Severity: normal

I downloaded an ISO, put it in /boot, and ran extlinux-update. It
generated the following memdisk.cfg:

label m0
menu label Memdisk, image grml-medium_2011.05.iso
linux /boot/extlinux/memdisk
initrd /boot/grml-medium_2011.05.iso
append iso

Trying to boot from this failed with an error message about not being
able to find the kernel image.

Comparing with the generated linux.cfg made it obvious what was going
on: there were no filenames prefixed with /boot in linux.cfg, as I have
a separate /boot partition. I removed the /boot prefix from the
filenames in memdisk.cfg allowed the ISO to be booted.

So, I think extlinux-update needs to handle the case of a separate /boot
partition for memdisks as well as linux kernels.

Bug#629081: libjna-java: platform.jar file incorrectly referenced in /usr/share/maven-repo/...

2011-06-03 Thread James Page
Package: libjna-java
Version: 3.2.7-2
Severity: important

The Maven jar artefact that this package deploys is no longer correct; it should
link to jna.jar but it currently links to jna-platform.jar.

Looking at the package the following in debian/rules is causing this issue:

# install. using platform.jar is a silly idea in /usr/share/java/ as it's bound
to collide
override_dh_auto_install:
mh_installjar -plibjna-java -l --usj-name=jna pom.xml build/jna.jar
mh_installjar -plibjna-java -l --usj-name=jna-platform pom.xml
build/platform.jar

The second mh_installjar command incorrectly references the pom.xml for jna NOT
platform.

This overwrites in the links created by the first command.

This will break any Maven based build process that depends on this package as
platform.jar
does not contain the expected classes.

The -3 package in experimental has the same bug.

Bug#629082: wwsympa: wrong permissions on wwsympa.fcgi and C wrapper

2011-06-03 Thread Julien Lesaint
Package: sympa
Version: 6.1.1~dfsg-2
Severity: important

Hi,

During an upgrade on a system running the unstable branch, both perl
(to 5.12) and Sympa (to 6.1.1) were ugraded. After this upgrade, wwsympa
was broken:

[pts/0] # su www-data -c /usr/lib/cgi-bin/sympa/wwsympa-wrapper.fcgi
defined(%hash) is deprecated at /usr/lib/cgi-bin/sympa/wwsympa.fcgi line 15775.
(Maybe you should just omit the defined()?)
Unable to load config file /etc/sympa/wwsympa.conf

The first error is because of perl5.12, the second one however seems to be
related to permissions on files wwsympa.fcgi and wwsympa-wrapper.fcgi.

Files as is after package install:

-rwsr-sr-x 1 sympa sympa 608094 Oct 28 2010 wwsympa.fcgi
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root2816 Oct 28 2010 wwsympa-wrapper.fcgi

Had to change perms/owner to:

-rwxr-xr-x 1 sympa sympa 608094 Oct 28 2010 wwsympa.fcgi
-rwsr-sr-x 1 sympa sympa 2816 Oct 28 2010 wwsympa-wrapper.fcgi

(chmod ug-s wwsympa.fcgi; chown sympa.sympa wwsympa-wrapper.fcgi;
 chmod ug+s wwsympa-wrapper.fcgi).

Please review this and correct the package if you agree with this fix.

Thanks.
JL.
