Bug#799455: Tournament: not separating human from computer players produces unexpected results

2015-09-19 Thread Andrej Mernik
Package: filler
Version: 1.02-6.2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

when the game is started and you enter the Tournament tab, all players are
selected. If you attempt to play the tournament this way, the game eventually
gets stuck. Why?
The list includes a player named »Remote« which has a bot icon, however, this
is not a local bot. It's actually a player from remote machine. The game gets
stuck, because it waits for the bot vs remote player match to finish. The match
obviously can't progress if there is no remote player.

To solve this, the list should be separated into AI players and Human players,
with »Remote« belonging to Human players.

Best Regards,
Andrej

Hi John,

thanks for looking into this issue. Did you try setting the Total players and
Local player to anything else than 2, 2? The game seems to work only if you
leave these values at 2, 2, but it freezes on other combinations (I did try
some of them, not all).

Bug#862835: rockdodger: Impossible to enter highscore name

2017-05-17 Thread Andrej Mernik
Package: rockdodger
Version: 1.0.2-1+b1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

every keypress in the highscore entry screen overrides previous character. As
Enter acts as a backspace or empty char, it's therefore impossible to enter any
character on the highscore list. The score gets saved, but because the name is
empty, the layout completely breaks.

Bug#862838: rockdodger: Please explain Software failure, Guru meditation in the man page

2017-05-17 Thread Andrej Mernik
Package: rockdodger
Version: 1.0.2-1+b1
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

the farther you get in the game, more often a screen seems to pop up:

-

Software Failure. Press left mouse button to continue.
Guru Meditation #%08X

-

After the button is pressed, the game continues normally (well, if you don't
die because you didn't have time to react).

Are those (a) actual errors caught by the inbuilt error handler
(guru_meditation.c) or (b) is this something which should bring back memories
for Amiga players and serves no other purpose than being extremely annoying?

If (a), then the errors should be more descriptive, if (b), please mention this
is a feature in the man page.

Andrej Mernik

Package: pixbros
Version: 0.6.3-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

it appears that the pixbros package is not installable on Stretch amd64,
because its depends are not installable.

I am aware that the package itself might be architecture independent, but it
should not be. The current state creates confusion for the end user, making
Debian amd64 and its derivatives look broken, which also contributes to the
overall public perception of GNU/Linux as unsuited for daily use.

The package should be marked as "i386 only" as soon as possible.

Package: libpam-kwallet5
Version: 5.8.4-1

Dear Maintainer,

on login, the default wallet doesn't seem to unlock, because programs prompt me
to enter wallet password.

Here are some more details:
- Password of the default wallet matches the login password and it uses
standard encryption
- Default wallet name is kdewallet
- I'm using default Stretch install + some additional programs. Login manager
is sddm
- As per guides on the Arch wiki, the /etc/pam.d/sddm file contains the
following

-auth optionalpam_kwallet5.so
-session optional pam_kwallet5.so auto_start

It seems to be setup properly out of the box. I didn't change anything.

Please provide some assistance on how to debug this situation.

2017-03-18 Thread Andrej Mernik

Dear Maintainer,

I have some suggestions how to improve this game:

- make categories or group different game types/rulesets
- when paused, put static overlay over the playing board. Flashing is
problematic for photosensitive people
- show number of moves immediately when you click on the puzzle in the puzzle
list. Now it's shown only after first move
- save game data in a hidden folder inside $HOME instead of creating two
folders directly in $HOME
- the green tick should show immediately after puzzle completion. Now it shows
only after restart

Hi Innocent,

if the program really needs only one folder, then this is fine by me. Keep up
the good work.

Bug#856728: opentyrian: When run via menu the game silently exits if data is missing

2017-03-04 Thread Andrej Mernik
Package: opentyrian
Version: 2.1.20130907+dfsg-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

when you run the game via the menu and the data package was not installed yet,
it just exits with no warning.
The proper way to handle missing data would be to display a popup with the
error message which points user to readme.
Alternatively, the installer script could ask the user if he wants to download
and install the data files too.

Best Regards,
Andrej Mernik

That would be great. Currently people might think the game keeps crashing and
remove it without playing.

I was actually thinking more that the post installer would run game-data-
packager if the user clicks yes.

2017-03-09 Thread Andrej Mernik

Hello,

a new bugfix version of tellico was uploaded (2.3.9+dfsg.1-1.1+b1), but it
unfortunately didn't fix the crashing.

I really don't like to run this program as root, but currently it is the only
way to prevent it from crashing.

Dear Maintainer,

sometimes Pacman seems to get stuck in a wall and ignores key presses. It
sometimes takes several key presses to get unstuck. This unresponsiveness makes
the game unfair and not fun at all. This problem might be related to the bug
#584404, however, since it happens pretty randomly, it could be caused by
something else.

Bug#808073: geki3: Powerup system is unreliable

2015-12-15 Thread Andrej Mernik
Package: geki3
Version: 1.0.3-8
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

In Geki3 you can pick up three types of powerups during gameplay:

White pills restore your health and this works as advertised.
Blue and pink pills should powerup your weapons but this almost never works:

* There is no visual effect when picking up the blue/pink pill.
* The machinegun is firing but the rockets are not shown at all.
* The enemies don't seem to be getting destroyed faster, so this is not only an
cosmetic bug.

Bug#808409: glpeces: Pieces have invisible walls which make the game almost unplayable

2015-12-19 Thread Andrej Mernik
Package: glpeces
Version: 5.1.1-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

In the recent versions of the game (5.0+), the pieces behaviour has changed.
Suddenly the pieces have invisible walls which make other pieces autorotate
on left-click drag and also sometimes prevent rotating.
This is extremely annoying and makes the game pretty much unplayable.

I have purged the old configs just to be safe, but it didn't make a difference.

Here is a video of me struggling to complete a simple puzzle on level 3:

and

The error that occured was:

This means that both options and scores are not saved.

Thanks for your report. It seems when I switched to debhelper 9 the sgid
settings were lost. This seems to be a workaround to fix this quickly:

chgrp games /usr/games/circuslinux
chgrp games /var/games/circuslinux/
chmod 2775 /var/games/circuslinux/
chmod 2755 /usr/games/circuslinux

Hi,

the scores are saved now, thanks for the fix.
But what about the config file? Where should I put it to be detected?

That should be created when you first run circuslinux in your homedirectory
as .circuslinuxrc, no need to create this manually.

Christian

Hi,

the circuslinuxrc file is there and the options are saved to it, but
they are not read from it.

So everytime you start the game, it just falls back to default values.

Dear Maintainer,

gbnclient keeps crashing when trying to play a game with a robot:

gbnclient: Error in buscar_usr: usr=0
gbnrobot: robot 1: que_usrfrom: Error, aca no tendria que llegar
Segmentation fault

To reproduce:

1. run gbnclient
2. use default options and set 'run server locally'
3. in the server window which appears select 'Launch a robot in server'
4. bot might crash several times, so repeat 1-3 until you succeed
5. click 'random' and 'send ships' in the client
6. click 'start'
7. the client crashes, but the bot stays ready and also the server doesn't seem
to crash.

Dear Maintainers,

we have less than three weeks before Stretch release and this bug is still not
fixed. The translations were pulled at start of July 2016, the applications
(for example) were pulled months later.

It might not seem a big deal, but some KDE translation teams do majority of
work a few weeks before major releases and backport anything left (or fixes)
after the release. This means Stretch will ship with incomplete translations or
translations containing string bugs already fixed in upstream.

Please consider updating the translations.

Thanks and best regards,

Bug#873688: spout: Please, put instructions for exiting the game into the intro screen

Dear Maintainer,

if you go into the fullscreen mode without reading the manual, there seems to
be no clear way to exit the game, as the key combination for exiting the game
is highly unusual (Shift+Esc).

I suggest that the exit instructions get added to the intro screen that plays
during deaths. Like pceFontPrintf("To exit press Shift + Esc"). Maybe under the
"spout" text (line 380) or "high-score" text (line 389)

Bug#873959: stax: Unresponsive and buggy controls

2017-09-01 Thread Andrej Mernik
Package: stax
Version: 1.37-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I have two problems with this game:

1) when the intro or pause menu screen is shown, the game seems to use 12 % of
my 4C/8T CPU. This is unusually high, because during the gameplay the CPU usage
is negligible. In both of these screens the mouse cursor has severe input lag.
2) during gameplay sometimes single key press registers as double press. This
makes some modes very hard to play: the bricks keep double switching in Shifty
and randomly falling back down in Sucker.

The block animations seem smooth otherwise. I'm not ruling out GPU driver
problems:

OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on AMD POLARIS11 (DRM 3.10.0 /
4.11.0-0.bpo.1-amd64, LLVM 3.9.1)

It would be great if someone could try to reproduce this with different
drivers.

It seems that the game gets stuck in the vs. computer mode, because it doesn't

Bug#876517: tuxpuck: Puck autolaunches instead of positioning itself on the line

2017-09-23 Thread Andrej Mernik
Package: tuxpuck
Version: 0.8.2-7
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

when the puck hits the screen, it should position itself at the nearest line
and wait for player interaction. Often this doesn't happen and the puck just
continues slowly to the opponents side, then bounces off an invisible wall and
stops in the middle. This in turn always results in a punishment for the human
player which has 50% chance to avoid it. The failed launch happens both for the
human and AI player.

I have made a very short video of this problem: https://youtu.be/H6QIzc7JS8A

I'm not familiar how the launches worked in Shufflepuck Café, but this doesn't
seem normal to me.

Hello,

the game is acting really weird on this. Some examples (yours included) do not
cause infinite shield. Here are some that do:

mousetrap --geoweoiwei
mousetrap --dhdh
mousetrap --8bdhwd
mousetrap --php
mousetrap --a

I can reproduce this on Stretch 1.0c-1+b3

Bug#835127: tellico: Tellico always crashes at boot time

2016-12-15 Thread Andrej Mernik
Dear Maintainer,

I tested this on Stretch with the package from unstable.

First problem: libkf5sane-data is in conflict with libksane-data which means
that I must remove KIPI plugins to install this package -> not acceptable.

Second problem: it crashes with a segfault when run normally

Application: Tellico (tellico), signal: Segmentation fault

Interestingly, the program started working without problems when I ran it via
Valgrind (I attach the output) . I deleted the tellicorc file and the program
started to crash as described above until I ran it with Valgrind again and
the tellicorc file was recreated.

Please fix this asap as this is the last chance to get the program into
Stretch.

Bug#785606: linux-image-4.0.0-1-amd64: DragonRise joystick support broken in 4.0.2-1

2016-12-15 Thread Andrej Mernik
Hello,

if anything was fixed upstream it wasn't fixed properly. Here is how it works
in
Stretch, kernel 4.8:

Axis 0: left analog stick horizontally
Axis 1: right analog stick horizontally
Axis 2: right analog stick vertically
Axis 3: left analog stick vertically
Axis 4: right analog stick vertically
Axis 5: left digital pad horizontally
Axis 6: left digital pad vertically

With such configuration it's impossible to use the left part of the gamepad for
descending/climbing which renders it unusable in most games.

Bug#848711: krusader: Please apply patches to restore minimize to tray function

2016-12-19 Thread Andrej Mernik
Package: krusader
Version: 2:2.5.0-1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Dear Maintainer,

in current version of Krusader (2.5.0) an important feature was removed:
minimize/close to tray. The Krusader team has decided to reimplement it, but
since this was done recently, the patch is not included in the current debian
package.

I have re-built the package myself using the patches:

https://cgit.kde.org/krusader.git/commit/?id=e2d1b90a70e1cf13cde11629bd5cdfae1896b2e0
https://cgit.kde.org/krusader.git/commit/?id=4b3d3b3ab21cff913a0529fddabe94744f607b95

and installed the package.

The first patch adds an entry in Startup options and an entry in the General
options. Everything seems to work as expected.

Please consider updating the current package with these patches.

Best Regards,
Andrej Mernik

Bug#835127: tellico: Tellico always crashes at boot time

2016-12-28 Thread Andrej Mernik
Package: tellico
Version: 2.3.9+dfsg.1-1.1
Followup-For: Bug #835127

Hello,

sorry for the delay, I somehow did not receive notification about this bug
report changes.

It still crashes for me:

It doesn't work with en locale.
It doesn't work in virtualbox (this system has the same packages installed as
my machine).
It doesn't work in virtualbox with newly created user.

It does run ok with kdesudo tellico.
Copying tellicorc from root to my account doesn't stop crashing.

How could I see which files does the program read before crashing?

Best Regards,
Andrej

Package: magicor

Dear Maintainer,

the info scroller that displays on the bottom of the game screen is distracting
and not very useful (at least for me).

I'm attaching a patch that adds an option to disable it. The option defaults to
true (the scroller is displayed by default). Please test the attached patch and
include it into the package if possible.

Bug#836241: plasma-workspace: Digital clock widget wants qml-module-org-kde-kholidays

2017-01-02 Thread Andrej Mernik
Package: plasma-workspace
Version: 4:5.8.2-1
Followup-For: Bug #836241

Hello,

I installed the suggested package and enabled the holidays, but they are not
displayed in the calendar. However, you can go into the "Calendar" tab and tick
the Holidays plugin, this works as expected: holidays are shown.

Best Regards,
Andrej Mernik

Bug#834725: krank: Add an option to disable sparks and screen transitions

2016-08-18 Thread Andrej Mernik
Package: krank
Version: 0.7+dfsg2-3
Severity: wishlist

Dear Developer,

please consider adding an option to disable the sparks effects as they cause
significant FPS drops on my system (and possibly others). Additionaly, at
higher resolutions than 800x600 the menu transitions become unnaceptably slow.

I'm using a i3 2100 series CPU with AMD Radeon HD 7750 and radeonsi driver (I'm
attaching glxinfo).

Hello,

I have manually installed the version from Stretch because I thought it might
fix the freezing problem but it didn't help. Upon closer inspection I have also
discovered that the freeze doesn't happen if you move the mouse from selected
button into an empty area. It looks like the appearance of the dotted
rectangle causes the game to freeze.

2016-04-10 Thread Andrej Mernik
Package: gtkballs
Version: 3.1.5-10
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

after finishing a game, an entry is shown in the Hall of Fame. After reopening
the dialog, the list is empty.
The Hi-score value stays shown, until the game is closed. After that, it's also
reset to zero.

It seems that no highscores are written at all, because
/var/games/gtkballs-scores is empty.
There are no errors when the game is launched from console.

Here is the ls for the score file

Hello,

I forgot that the root user is not automatically a member of the games group,
sorry :(.

Could a reminder (your user must belong to the games group) be added to the
man page (Hall of Fame part) or somewhere else?

Hello,

I should have written uid 1000 to avoid confusion :). I added the user to the
games group, logged out, logged in and gtkballs saves the score.

Hello,

this bug was probably fixed with the following commit in 2011:

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~dnax88/gweled/trunk/revision/86

but the 0.92 version was not released yet. Maybe the package could be rebuilt
with this patch included even if the 0.92 version was not released yet?

Best regards,
Andrej

Bug#628006: kdebase-runtime: /usr/bin/nepomukservicestub writes huge amount of data to .xsession-errors

2011-05-26 Thread Andrej Mernik
Package: kdebase-runtime
Version: 4:4.4.5-1

A program /usr/bin/nepomukservicestub writes huge amount of data to .xsession-
errors. In three days the file size has reached 13 GB! The lines are similar to
this one:

[/usr/bin/nepomukservicestub] "/usr/bin/nepomukservicestub(2075)" Soprano:
"SQLExecDirect failed on query 'sparql insert into graph
 {

 . }'
(iODBC Error: [OpenLink][Virtuoso iODBC Driver]CL064: Lost connection to
server)"

"/usr/bin/nepomukservicestub(2166)" Soprano: "SQLExecDirect failed on query
'sparql  select distinct ?r ?o where { { ?r

 . } UNION {  ?p ?o . }
} LIMIT 1' (iODBC Error: [OpenLink][Virtuoso iODBC Driver]CL064: Lost
connection to server)"

This happens only when indexing service Nepomuk/Strigi is indexing files/is
active.

Bug#615159: nepomulkservices consume too many memory

2011-05-27 Thread Andrej Mernik
Hello,

I have the same problem. I'm not sure if it's related to this bug:

kdebase-runtime: /usr/bin/nepomukservicestub writes huge amount of data to
.xsession-errors: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=628006

Why I think it's not? Because I disabled nepomuk logging with kdebugdialog
and removed .xsession-errors file. So the logging shouldn't be active now,
but the memory and CPU usage of nepomukservices and nepomukserver is huge.
There are also multiple instances of nepomukservices in top:

Bug#878090: xchain: Couldn't execute /usr/bin/wish

2017-10-09 Thread Andrej Mernik
Package: xchain
Version: 1.0.1-7
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

when trying to run the game it fails to run and outputs:

Couldn't execute /usr/bin/wish

The executable present in Stretch seems to be named differently:

$ ls /usr/bin/wish*
/usr/bin/wish8.5

The path to the executable seems to be hardcoded in xchain.c line 32

Bug#878262: xgalaga: autofired bullets are out of sync

2017-10-11 Thread Andrej Mernik
Package: xgalaga
Version: 2.1.1.0-5+b1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

when autofire is used (the button is held down) the bullets seem to get out of
sync. If we look at the most basic weapon, it shoots three evenly spaced
bullets and then pauses. As the autofire continues, the spacing between bullets
get distorted. Two shots are now closer than the third one (see screenshot).
This problem makes targeting unnecessary hard and it's hard to believe it would
be intentional.

Bug#878940: xpat2: Windows should be large enough to fit contents

2017-10-17 Thread Andrej Mernik
Package: xpat2
Version: 1.07-20
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

currently, the game starts in a window which is wide/tall enough for some
games, but too narrow for the others (Spider, Seahaven, Monte Carlo, Midnight
Oil, etc.). This can cause confusion.

Ideally, the game should start in a window with dimensions big enough to fit
all games.

The same problem also applies to the help popup window which is tiny by default
(see screenshot). This window should also be at least as big as the main
window.

choice of choosing the opponents: one plays almost perfect, the other one is
beatable, but "cheats" ... It looks pretty fun otherwise ...

Please mark this bug as invalid. Thanks!
