[Declude.JunkMail] $default$.JunkMail file mods
I'm trying to add a header to failed mail in the $default$.JunkMail file. The lines I've added are: WEIGHT20 HEADER FAILED WEIGHT TEST WEIGHT20 ROUTETO [EMAIL PROTECTED] The messages are being routed but without the header. What am I doing wrong? I'm using Declude 1.81 --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Surfside Internet] --- [This E-mail was scanned for viruses by Declude Virus (http://www.declude.com)] --- This E-mail came from the Declude.JunkMail mailing list. RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Hotmail not accept inbound mail?
We've been experiencing intermittent mail problems with ALL the big guys (MSN, YAHOO, HOTMAIL) over the past two months. [Declude.JunkMail] Validate Email address
Weve noticed our server delivering email to other accounts even though its addressed to an invalid account. Anyone know how to get Declude or Imail to check the TO: line against the servers Imail address database? Were using Imail 7.14 on a 2003 box and using the Imail user database. This is an attempt to stop the BCC use by SPAMMERS. Or any other ideas?

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Imail + Declude in Windows 2003
Thanks for the info, finally got the command to turn it off should we decide to do so. We've heard both sides of the issue with PIX and can't find the definitive answer one-way or the other. What kinds of problems does having this enabled produce? Our issue is with the enormous build up of the spool directory. As far as we can tell it's as if Imail stockpiles email to deliver when it feels like it dependent on the size of the HDD in use (bigger drive, bigger spool). We also found that the spool manager would stop functioning at random. Our server is a 5-disk SCSI array (total 68+GB) on a dual 500+mhz system with 2GB ram. We were running Imail 8.01 until it got too troublesome. Now we dropped back to Imail 7.13 on a different server and it's performing much better. That would REALLY be helpful. Thank you!!! Windows 2003 has proven to be very stable. Our problem is with Imail. The spool queue in particular. It grows at an outrageous rate. It got to be almost 4GB in size. Imail was not handling mail correctly and appeared to be just leaving mail in the queue. RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Imail + Declude in Windows 2003
Our server is as follows: Super Micro X5DPL -8 motherboard with Adaptec 2010S RAID card. 2 Intel Xeon processors 2GB RAM 5 SCSI HDD in RAID 5 with sixth drive in hot standby. The OS - Applications and Spool are on the same RAID system (drive C). The spool started running well for the first two days but was growing. We determined that the queue/traffic/server capabilities ratio should see the queue vary slightly but not grow appreciably until accounts were added. This took into account current traffic patterns and volume. After the second day it became apparent that the spool manager was not operating as advertised so we started watching it VERY closely. Following is the spool size data we collected. Times are military (sorry x Navy) 1815 3 July 2003 1.26 GB 2.07 GB 262,422 Files in 7 Folders Deleted 23 old virus hold folders 1300 3 July 2003 1.04GB 1.76GB 228,547 Files 31 Folders Set Declude to NOT send email virus notices Spool Clean ran at 1000 Parameters set to delete files older than 7 days and logs older than 5 days 0800 3 Jul 2003 2.65 GB 3.91 GB 406,208 Files 29 Folders 0800 2 Jul 2003 2.59 GB 3.79 GB 381,659 Files 30 Folders 1500 1 Jul 2003 2.57 GB (Base Folder) 3.74 GB (Includes subfolders) 378,537 Files 29 Folders We switched to an older version (7.13) at 0001 on 5 July due to the sharp increase in spool size and the Queue manager stopping. We decided it was looking like a cascading failure of the entire system and that Imail was not compatible with 2003. FYI - 2003 registry is not transportable to NT 4.0. You'll have to use the extract users utility and the addusers command. [Declude.JunkMail] Windows 2003 and Imail (NTVDM Error resolved)
For those considering upgrade to MS Windows 2003 I strongly recommend setting the phantom heap to 2048 in the system registry as follows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\ SubSystems\ The default entry is SharedSection=1024,3072,2048(Default 512). After making this change we've had NO MORE ERRORS! RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Windows 2003 and Imail (NTVDM Error resolved)
We are of the If it ain't broke, don't fix it house. Meaning, we ONLY do this when necessary. We found that this change WAS REQUIRED anytime we ran Imail with Declude on ANY MS WINDOWS server box (NT 4.0, 2000, now 2003). We had hoped MS would have addressed the issue of undocumented memory space, especially when it involves such a critical area. RE: [Declude.JunkMail] NTVDM.exe failed to initialize
Further testing revealed that use of the following command line: SCANFILE C:\Progra~1\FSI\F-Prot\F-Prot.exe /TYPE /SILENT /NOMEM /ARCHIVE /NOFLOPPY /NOBOOT /DUMB /REPORT=report.txt causes the error described and that use of this following command line: SCANFILE C:\Progra~1\FSI\F-Prot\fpcmd.exe /TYPE /SILENT /NOMEM /ARCHIVE /NOBOOT /DUMB /REPORT=report.txt causes the same error but for the pfcmd.exe program instead of the ntvdm.exe program. It appears the virus program used controls the program reported by the error report. This would lead me to suspect Microsoft has not fixed the desktop heap issue related to Declude product use. Or, more so, that Declude has not effectively addressed this issue in newer releases of their products. The referred entry described by Ipswitch (IM-20020305-DM01) and Declude are not in the Windows 2003 registry (at least I've not found it yet). Note, we're currently using default settings for all areas in Imail 8.0 (SMTP, Queue Manager, etc.) Terry -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Bill Landry Sent: Monday, June 23, 2003 10:29 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [Declude.JunkMail] NTVDM.exe failed to initialize Are you running the DOS or Windows version of F-Prot? If the 32bit Windows version, how do you have F-Prot setup in your virus.cfg file? It should be setup like: C:\Progra~1\FSI\F-Prot\fpcmd.exe -TYPE -SILENT -NOMEM -ARCHIVE -NOBOOT -DUMB -REPORT=report.txt using fpcmd.exe instead of f-prot.exe. This will allow you to take advantage of the 32bit version of F-Prot instead of the 16bit version. If you are running the DOS version, I would recommend upgrading to the Windows version. RE: [Declude.JunkMail] NTVDM.exe failed to initialize
It is indeed the 0xC142 in both cases. Exact error messages are: Using f-prot.exe command on SCANFILE line of virus.cfg file NTVDM.exe - Application error: The application failed to initialize properly (0xC142). Click on OK to terminate the application. Using fpcmd.exe command on SCANFILE line of virus.cfg file fpcmd.exe - Application error: The application failed to initialize properly (0xC142). Click on OK to terminate the application. Hope this helps. Terry -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of R. That is *very* unusual. All the NTVDM errors I've seen are 100% related to 16-bit processes, and go away with 32-bit processes (like fpcmd.exe). It appears the virus program used controls the program reported by the error report. This would lead me to suspect Microsoft has not fixed the desktop heap issue related to Declude product use. That could well be the problem -- I'm not aware of anyone else running IMail on it yet. Small things can make a difference here -- for example, if Windows 2003 turns off short filenames by default, some command line virus scanners won't work properly. What is the *exact* error message you are getting? If it has 0xC142 in it, it's the Microsoft Mystery Heap issue, and there are some ways to deal with the problem. If it doesn't have 0xC142 in it, it's a different issue than the Mystery Heap issue. -Scott --- Declude JunkMail: The advanced anti-spam solution for IMail mailservers. RE: [Declude.JunkMail] NTVDM.exe failed to initialize
Closer investigation found the correct entry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\ SubSystems\ The default entry is SharedSection=1024,3072,512. I changed the 512 to 2048 and rebooted the server. Now watching for errors. Terry -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of R. The first step here is to go to http://www.declude.com/dq.htm and read the page there, if you haven't already, and see if any of the suggestions there help. Unfortunately, according to the best information from Microsoft, it's impossible for this error to occur with the latest version of Declude Virus starting F-Prot (meaning that Microsoft isn't supplying all the information required to deal with this limitation). -Scott --- Declude JunkMail: The advanced anti-spam solution for IMail mailservers.
