Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. [Bug 716590] [NEW] Doesn't reload window decorations if started via .xprofile
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xchat-gnome I have a .xprofile script to launch xchat and other apps I always like to have in session. Unfortunately, when I do this xchat-gnome comes up with the GNOME default window decorations, not the Ubuntu Ambiance theme decorations that it should. I notice that the apps in .xprofile seem to start up prior to the window manager being fully initialized. Sometimes I'll see gnome-terminal loaded also with the GNOME default decorations. However, at some point the window manager must send a signal or gnome-terminal notices the theme change or something, and it gains the correct decorations. xchat- gnome never seems to get the message in this case. This issue has been present for several releases at least. Also, it doesn't happen on every boot, but maybe 25% of the time. I guess it's a race condition between the WM coming up and xchat-gnome. I've attempted putting in sleeps to the xchat-gnome invocation which I suppose helps but I still see the incorrect behavior from time to time. [Bug 716607] [NEW] Scrolls to top of window when started up with existing backlog
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xchat-gnome When xchat-gnome fires up, tabs load up logged chat text from the previous sessions, which is really nice. However, initially xchat-gnome starts with the text areas showing the top of the text (position 0 I guess), rather than scrolling the text area to the bottom to show the most recent comments. It seems that after any comment or activity on the respective channel, the text area automatically moves to the bottom as it should. So it's a minor issue, but confusing. [Bug 716642] [NEW] gnome-settings-daemon not running after suspend/resume
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon gnome-settings-daemon is not running upon suspend/resume. As a result, window decorations and other theme-dependent settings revert to a default theme (gtk?). Restarting g-s-d on the command line restores decorations (in this case, the default Ambiance theme). Otherwise, GNOME appears to behave correctly. I run on an extended desktop (laptop + HDMI monitor). I updated to this version of g-s-d on Nov 20 and I suspend/resume several times daily, but I started observing this behavior only within the last few days. Therefore, it seems most likely that this repeatable problem results from another package upgrade and not from g-s-d itself. [Bug 505289] Re: In keyboard selector, dropdown box for country selection does not respond to keypress
This holds true for ALL drop-down-selects within ALL Gnome settings-dialogues, which have a drop-down-select. This is even true for most programs, whenn running within Gnome (e.g. Nautilus). This is a very basic-feature, every program should be capable of. EVERY drop-down-select ANYWHERE in a UI should be able of select an item by typing in the first letters. What is possible in a browser during website-rendering, should be also possible on a desktop-system. So please give this bug a higher importance, because it is such a terrible usability mistake. I don't want to touch my mouse for tasks like selecting my country from a drop-down–and there are users around this world, who even can't use a mouse. And selecting an entry out of 200 by just using the arrow keys can be quite time-consuming. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/505289 Title: In keyboard selector, dropdown box for country selection does not respond to keypress -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 635039] Re: evince crashed with SIGSEGV in ev_mapping_list_find()
I have an up-to-date Ubuntu 10.10 with evince 2.32.0-0ubuntu1.1. The error occurs, when I save a copy of an open file, overwriting the existing file. Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still encounter the crash, please file a new report. [Bug 500417] Re: nautilus doesn't honor gnome theme
My issue wasn't fixed until I restarted gnome-settings-daemon. Here's what I did, it works 100% of the time, but its a total hack. Go in synaptic, reinstall nautilus. I made a one liner shell script that runs when my computer starts: sleep 5; ps -aef | grep gnome-settings-daemon | grep -v grep | awk '{ print $2 }' | xargs kill -9; sleep 2; gnome-settings-daemon This completely 'fixed' the problem, but again, total hack and would like to know why gnome-settings-daemon is having issues in the first place. -Orbital -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/500417 Title: nautilus doesn't honor gnome theme -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
