We found a solution to the problem through some of the members of your OO>Calc
forums. Thank you.

3rd party pagination using css/jquery with page number parameter being
TOKENIZED insteaad of renedered as 1,2,3,4, etc.. OO cannot interpret the
tokens used in 3rd party pagination code snippet.

Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks.

Hello Peter,

The latest release is 4.1.7

I am not sure what you tried. Have you tried Mark the section you want
to copy, then Menue Edit pick Copy. Open Your Email Application and
insert there as you are used by the email application.

As an Alternative instead going through the menue you can use
Control-Button and C, pressing both at the same time and press then
Control V in the email application.

You can ask this kind of question on users. There you get a quicker answer.

All the Best

As I wrote you earlier, to request a Pootle account follow the
instructions here:

https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Pootle_User_Guide/Registration_and_Login

We had to disable self-service because of to much spam accounts.

These are Test builds for Windows (incl. LanguagePack and SDK), not an
official Beta.

Feel free to download and test it. Unfortunately there is no Romanian
build at the moment.
I might add that next time...

../inc/basebmp/packedpixeliterator.hxx:80:10: error: enumerator value

The root cause is, OpenOffice is written for older gnuCompiler. And we
just slowly move up the Version tree. Wedo not support v11standard.

better build with

-std=gnu++98

that is done by export, I think:

export CFLAGS="-std=gnu++98" export CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"

maybe add even the permissve flag:

export CFLAGS="-std=gnu++98 -fpermissive"

export CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"

I learning openoffice, and build it from scratch

the AOO417 was release branch?

the following was the last error:

--- start ---

deliver -- version: 275594

 ^

dmake: Error code 1, while making '../unxlngx6.pro/slo/bitmapdevice.obj'

1 module(s):

basebmp

need(s) to be rebuilt

Reason(s):

ERROR: error 65280 occurred while making
/home/ubuntu/orz/main/basebmp/source

When you have fixed the errors in that module you can resume the build by
running:

build --all:basebmp

--- end ---

and the auto build script iorz

and the full build log nohup.out.tgz

Hello, I have a question about rsc compiler & gbuild

2017-02-20 Thread 김재석
Hello, My name is jaeseok kim.
I knew this e-mail address on fourm.openoffice.org/forum. And I have a few
question about OpenOffice.

I use openoffice source code in my project. But it is so difficult. So I need
some helps.

I want to convert the '.hrc/.src file' to the '.res file.' I know that using
rsc compiler.
I'd like to use compiler rsc separately. To use it, what kind of Make file
should be made?

When you make the formula module in libreoffice, you know that rsc compiler
creates a foren file using the resource file.

command is main/formula make -f Makefile.

I would like to convert the "core_resource.src" file to "foren.res" using the
rsc compiler in other program.

So it's the same thing to try to make the same thing.
copy to my folder these folders and file
/main/formula
/main/rsc
/main/solenv
LinuxX86-64Env.Set

and
/formula gmake -f Makefile

but did not seem to work.
Ultimately, I want to use the files I want to convert to binary format using
the rsc compiler tool.

Thank you.

Greetings Angelique;

Sorry for not replying sooner, but my time available for AOO has been
small lately. We are always looking for volunteers to help with the
documentation. For an overview of the documentation project I suggest
that you look at our orientation page at
http://openoffice.apache.org/orientation/intro-doc.html. I would also
suggest subscribing to this mailing list as it is the main communication
vehicle for the overall Apache OpenOffice project. To subscribe send an

instructions in the reply you receive.

RE: Hello All

2016-06-30 Thread Dennis E. Hamilton
Angelique,

You might want to subscribe to the d...@openoffice.apache.org list where
documentation is discussed. (Subscription requests go to
doc-subscr...@openoffice.apache.org, sending from the email address you want to
receive list messages at.)

There is also guidance for learning your way around Apache OpenOffice at
<http://openoffice.apache.org/get-involved.html>.

Because you are interested in technical writing, it is necessary to have some
domain knowledge of Apache OpenOffice. You should have a version of the
software and be able to fact-check and verify behaviors in material that you
might want to improve, extend, or add. The ability to make screen captures is
important. You will also need to set up accounts on two wikis that the project
operates.

The docs@ list is the best place to dig into all of this.

One of the best ways to learn about what we have in store is to go one of
the event where we participate, in the coming months that is:
- FOSDEM, Brucelles, 31 januar - 1 Februar (free entrance)
- ApacheCon North America, Austin Texas 13 - 17 april.

At the moment we dont have plans for AOO 5.0. Going from 4.x to 5.x
normally means incompatibility and it not something that should be done
lightly, we are proud of keeping compatibility so watch out for new 4.x
versions.

You mean those in the Wiki? They are quite old, belonging to
OpenOffice.org 2.0. It might be, that not all details are still valid.
Nevertheless, you should then be prepared for the task I mentioned below.

and i'm trying to navigate the code base.

The code base is huge. As I already have written to Deborah, you get an
overview of the code in
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Source_code_directories. It is not
up-to-date, but in most parts are still valid. The sister project
LibreOffice has some similar information in http://docs.libreoffice.org/
Although they made some changes in the structure most parts are still
the same as in Apache OpenOffice.

I have tried to debug with gdb, but i can only debug the asm code, not the
symbolic c++ source code, i think in gcc it is -g option.
I would love some ideas to push me in the right direction, this is my first
opensource involvement.

Which OS do you use?

You should try to start with a real contribution. Something very small
in content, but by which you can learn the whole workflow of checkout >
build > code change > test > generate patch > attach patch to issue >
review.

May I suggest https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=40747
Perhaps name that "Formula", which inserts a Math OLE object, with new

.uno:InsertObjectMath. The UI strings for such commands are defined in

Do you already know how to search the code?

I'm still here, right now i have succeded to complete the first 3 hack

I have tried to debug with gdb, but i can only debug the asm code, not the
symbolic c++ source code, i think in gcc it is -g option.
I would love some ideas to push me in the right direction, this is my first

Hello Stefan and thank you for wanting to get involved. The easiest way to
submit proposals for either of our websites would be to apply for an
account on our planning wiki--

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/Wiki+Home

Just use the "Sign Up" link.

A good place to add information like this would probably be under the
Site-Dev-Plan page --

  https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/Site-Dev-Plan

You can include attachments using the wiki as well.

There are a lot of areas and opportunities for involvement with this
project. Welcome.

Hello,

I have been contemplating getting involved in helping in an open source project
for some time and particularly like the OpenOffice project. I have looked
through the Help Wanted Page and believe I can assist in a range of capacities.
I entered the world of software engineering as a Web Design and Developer and
believe I can certainly help improve the website (point 5 and 6) and would like
to submit some designs for the landing page. I endure a lot of testing on work
projects and could assist on testing developer builds also.

I believe that I can also help with testing developer builds and writing
documentation. However my real goal would be assisting in
bug fixing and updating OpenOffice in the future. I have over 7 years
experience developing in web based languages and markup including HTML, CSS, JS
and PHP, using them day-in-day out, and more recently around 3 years of Java,
building web services and writing selenium integration tests.

I am also currently engaged in a part time masters course that is opening my
eyes to the paradigms of Haskell and Erlang. Although I have very little
experience with C++ I am well versed in OOP and would like to eventually gain
enough familiarity with the codebase that I can contribute and assist. But for
now I am happy to assist in a bit of visual design for the website and testing
whilst to get up to speed.

Please let me know if this is of interest or you would like any more details or
a CV from me.

Hello Shari,

Thank for writing and volunteering to help. You can read more about
different areas of the project here:

http://openoffice.apache.org/get-involved.html

As you will see, it takes a lot more than just programmers to make
Apache OpenOffice successful. Volunteers are welcome in any of these
areas.

We're currently in the testing phase for our 4.1 release. If that
interests you at all, we certainly need help there. You can write to
our QA mailing list at q...@openoffice.apache.org to get started there.

We also have new volunteer "orientation modules" on the website that
give more background on the project and how it works. It also
describes to get involved in areas like documentation, marketing,
etc.:

Let me know if you any questions getting started.

Good evening,

I came across the Apache Open Office software and find it intriguing.
I like what I read so decided to invest a little time each week to work on
project materials in the areas that help is needed.
I am not a computer programmer or coder, however; I am very creative and
able to navigate my way through directions and can "think outside the box."
I am a licensed professional counselor and a certified addictions therapist

risk offenders, vulnerable populations in a culturally diverse office
setting, and best of all using Equine Assisted Learning in all my
individual and group settings.

I look forward to being a part of a creative team invested in providing a

Hello Eren,

Thanks for contact us. It sounds like you have a good mix of skills!

We have a set of pages on our website for new volunteers to review.
You can find them here:

http://openoffice.apache.org/orientation/

If you've worked with an open source project before much of this will
be review. But if you are new to open source communities the
introductory pages have some useful background in how we are organized
and how we do things.

There are also specific pages on getting started with areas like
development, including instructions for how to get started building
Apache OpenOffice. This is the first step (hurdle?) for new
developers. If you get stuck don't be shy, send questions to the dev
mailing list.

The OpenOffice product itself does not contain a lot of artwork. We
have a logo, recently updated, that is incorporated into the Splash
screen and About box , for example. But our marketing project does
more work with graphics, designing artwork for the website, social
media, brochures to hand out at conferences, etc. If you are
interested in those areas you should sign up for our marketing mailing
list, market...@openoffice.apache.org, and introduce yourself there.

Hi Daniel,

welcome to OpenOffice and your interest in testing and automated tests
is perfect. We still have on our wish list the integration of new unit
test framework because cppunit is license incompatible.

I personally believe that the googletest framework [1] can be a good
choice and I am asking if you are potentially interested to start
something new going in this direction. It's an active project and is
used in Google internal projects and in some popular projects like
Chromium, LLVM.

This would be a really cool project and we have to start with it sooner
or later. What do you think?

As first steps I would recommend to
1. set up your own build environment for AOO
2. integrate the googletest in our build process (compile the source
from scratch in our env)
3. start using it by migrating some existing cppunit tests or implement
new ones

Again welcome at OpenOffice

don't be shy, you can ask here on the list and it should be independent
of many other things.

The first step is to integrate the framework and make it available for
general usage. You don't have to write complex unit test, that can
evolve later on. The goal would be to make it usable in our buildenv
which can be of course a challenge as well.

The test framework is good documented which is good and will help to get
started. Everything else can we figure our later

Based on what you provided on the Directory of Volunteers, you would
probably benefit from going through the Orientation modules:

Re: Hello

2013-08-28 Thread Simple Good
OpenOffice not opening.
OpenOffice uses a lot of resources in term of RAM memory and harddisk
space. WPS Office and MS Office uses much less resources. This is a
bad decision on the part of OpenOffice developers.
OpenOffice is free so it is usually used by persons who can't pay for
expensive software. These persons will have computers with the minimum
resources. Pray tell me how is OpenOffice going to be available for
them.
I know many of these persons will use ancient versions of OpenOffice
(pre Apache). Why not upgrade these ancient versions that will use the
minimum resources.
BTW how can I unsubscribe from these mailings to my account.

Not really on the roadmap, productivity software doesnt include Information

There are commercial groupware suites that integrate with OpenOffice like

Hello Dave,

Thanks for writing and welcome to the Apache OpenOffice project!

You can read some more about the project and how we work here:

http://openoffice.apache.org/orientation/

(Just scan that material for background info)

Setup/install is an area where we have a lot of room for improvement.
Juergen and Dave Fischer mentioned the code signing side of this.
Another area is to look at possibilities for incremental patch
updates. Currently we require users to download/install the full
version for every update.

Indeed expert knowledge in the area of Windows installer would be
appreciated. We have a hand made complex packaging process that is
designed to have many common procedures for all platforms + specialized
ones for each platform.

A simplification would be welcome and we are looking forward to produce
minor patch updates to provide better service to our users.

the singing process itself is not the problem it is more the handling or
better secure maintaining of the certificate. Signing a build in a
secure environment is only the matter of using the right flags.

But anyway in both areas help is welcome. Feel free to ask on the dev list

Re: Hello - new volunteer

2013-07-07 Thread Dave Fisher
Hi Dave,

Welcome! The first step in volunteering is to subscribe to this dev list.

If you would like to help us with building installation packages for WIndows
platforms then you should start by learning how to build from here:

http://openoffice.apache.org/source.html

This may be a difficult place to start, but it would be a prerequisite to
building an installation package.

Please ask questions on the list as you explore.

One of the big areas we need help is with secure digital signatures of
installation artifacts. Anything that you could add to how we can make this
happen in very few steps would be helpful. The ASF has strict standards which
no one has met your expertise may prove helpful.

Dave

I really believe your software is very robust and extremely reliable.

I have a lot of experience writing MSI database application setups also
teaching computer theory to new MSI crafters. If I can help, then let me

technician, a Windows migration consultant, and an application packaging
engineer.

I have good technical skills and experience with people and software
engineering.
* Two (2) Technical College Degrees (Computer Information Systems + Math)
* Four (4) years of experience employed by the corporation Flexera, who
made AdminStudio. I was responsible for supporting and training users of

During that time, I saw how very difficult understanding software builds,
releasing, and installs was for certain software application developers.
So, instead of simply reciting the InstallShield product examples, I wrote
a book illuminating and shedding light on hard to grasp concepts and how to
best handle those concepts in computer data transfer. Multiple
illustrations and mathematical proofs and equations explain everything you
need to know to make great software and application installations.

Hello OpenOffice

2013-02-08 Thread Rosie Yohannan

Hi,

My name is Rosie, I live in Manchester (UK) and I work as a technical
manager in a University looking after recording studios and a small post
production facility. I have used OpenOffice for 10 years now and have
found it invaluable! I am also very interested in the history of science
and technology and have an MSc in that subject. Anyway, I'm here because
I am hoping to train myself as a technical writer and thought getting
involved in open source projects would be a good way to gain experience
and give something back to a project that I have gained so much from.

I'm looking forward to being involved!

Thanks,
Rosie

Hi Sid,

welcome at Apache OpenOffice. Good to read that you like our product and
that you are interested to help us. The OpenOffice project can benefit
from help in different areas and it depends on your interest and skills.

First of all you have send your mail to a mailing list dev@openoffice...
where you should subscribe to get all the replies automatically. See
http://openoffice.apache.org/mailing-lists.html

As a computer science student it looks that you are interested to take a
closer look under the hood which of course is very good.

Maybe you can try to convince some other students to join you and you
can work together on the project. We can also elaborate the possibility
to mentor you and other students on more official tasks that helps you
with your education. Talk with your professor about such a project and
the work on a huge real life project ;-)

OpenOffice is a very huge project mainly implemented in C++. But no
rocket science and it looks more complicate than it is.

I recommend that you start building the office on your own and maybe
start debugging some code areas to learn more about it and to learn how
to debug in general such a beast of software.

For detailed information how to do that please see our building guide
http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/Building_Guide_AOO
Feel free to report any problems and help us to improve it if necessary.

And please feel free to ask questions here on the list. And don't be shy
to ask, it's often not easy to get started and find the right entry
points but we try to give you all the necessary support here on the
mailing list.

Again welcome on board

Juergen

Also check out the UX wiki, we could use your skills :)

We maintain a backlog of things that could be address, then we explore
design solutions. We socialize the designs with the community, get feedback
and then try to drive the designs into the products.

they can send the document they're currently working on to the server for
linguistic analysis. Next to spell and grammar checking, this analysis
involves checking of certain style rules (like "Don't use Future tense",
"Don't use passive voice") and that the right terminology is used.
Terminology is useful if you want to ensure that e.g. parts of a device are
always called the same in a manual or that the right product name is used.
The results of the analysis are then highlighted in the document itself so
you don't have to jump between tools. The author can then click on each
highlight and gets a context menu that offers more information about the
issue and offers a suggestion how to correct it.

After some great hints and some research we decided to use a smart tag-based
approach to get the highlights for our flags into the document. For dummy
texts, this works pretty well. Writing a plug-in for OpenOffice is pretty
exciting for us since we have so far only dealt with proprietary editors with
black box APIs. Sometimes we're lucky and grab a hold of a developer within
the company that develops that editor and we get some information (usually
just a confirmation that "this is indeed a bug"). With OpenOffice, this is a
completely different story (finally!).

If there's anything else you're interested in please drop me a line.

Really looking forward to working with you guys!

It is great to see that AOO is being used in such an enterprise-focussed area
