RE: [development-axapta] Multiple AOS with multiple Application Directories

2004-09-16 Thread Kim Truelsen \(MICROSOFT BUSINESS SOLUTIONS\)

Hi

You can use the Treenode.aotrestore and treenode.aotrefresh to update
your AOT on all servers

I made a batch job running on all AOS, that restored the AOT.

We had hell with that too. You should shut down your AOS's and import
the
project in two-tier mode, ideally while in the dat company (since it
doesn't
cache). At a push, you could import into one AOS, and force a cache
refresh
on the others (Tools->Dev Tools->App Objects->Refresh AOD), but we found
that to be pretty unreliable.

The fun part is convincing the business that you need to bring the
system
down to do imports ;)

Hi,

I have read some mails about Axapta that we must use One DB and One
Application folder. But our customer has 4 branches. I made this
desired configuration with 4 AOSs but only one of them can work,
others have some event messages about out of license (I found that
the real reason is that one AOS exclusively locks the application and
the others cannot get connected).

When we configured the system with multiple AOSs and multiple
Applications using the same DB, it works... But now we have the
syncronisation problem...

Problem is, when we import a projec to one AOS how can we import to
other AOSs automatically?

Best regards,

meyaki

RE: [development-axapta] Documentation of classes and tables

Hi Annette

I understand your concern. If you paid and spent time on hot fixes then It would look a bit strange if Microsoft just " stole"  these changes. I can tell you that we will not do that.

Personally I use the information I receive in these forums in my daily work supporting our partners and customers.

Have a nice day.

Hi Kim,

sure I want to hear your opinion, and please do not get me wrong: I
certainly didn't want to offend anybody.

Please let me try to explain ... and please allow for clumsy phrasing, it
would be easier in German :-)

I personally am very much in favour of sharing information and enjoy doing
so very much. Because I am a customer myself and on the German market have
been one of the first 'developers' employed by a customer, I have been able
to help other customers quite a lot (I think) by providing tips and tricks
in quite a lot of areas.

The reason I am still in doubt is, that we have not been very lucky with our
first two Axapta partners (to express it mildly). Therefore, we had to do
most of the work on our own, including the collecting of information,
learning how to use the system at all, etc. At least in Germany, we are not
the only company with this background. The lack of documentation and support
led us to question the ulterior motives of Axapta partners and Navision
resp. MBS.

Now, of course I am willing to help anybody who needs help. I also think
it's a great idea to collect the information in a better medium than a
mailing list provides. I also don't mind if MBS may have advantages of this
documentation.
But I wonder how MBS would present the information gathered by others. In
the worst case, I see myself bying an update -  only to find that I paid for
bug fixes I provided myself.

If I am the only one having these concerns, please let's not get into that
any deeper. I am quite sure that I will contribute to the 'project' anyway,
as I would like to see Axapta become a success, too :-)

Bye, Annette

Hi Annette

If you want to hear my opinion about this!

I have spent a lot of time reading and providing technical documentation to
this newsgroup. It is very interesting to know what is going on in the
Axapta community!!

To make Axapta world wide success, we need your help and support to reach
that goal. I think the idea of having newsgroups and documentation website
is a very

good idea even though we aren't the one that provides them. I would be very
disappointed if partners and customers work against the idea of sharing
knowledge with everybody.

Well point taken. It will be very good to have all classes documented. I have just heard that some 400 classes will be documented in 4.0. I can't say if all classes, methods, macros, functions will be fully documented so a user with no programming experience can understand them. Lets see what will come in the next versions.

Yes. It is a high priority to make better documentation in coming versions.
But documentation about the function of the Axapta classes will not be
available. The code explains it's self.

I think, that's a very good idea, too. Mostly because questions keep
repeating here and it just would be nice to compile the information that has
been collected here as well as in 'private' folders and documents into a
more readable and consistent form.

But what about the following:

*  Are we allowed to do that (copyright - wise), maybe not because MBS
owns the source code!?
*  How would the documentation change with a new release, an update
etc.?

Bye, Annette

PS: I think Matt refers to the so called Wiki Webs.

Hi,

90% of the classes and tables in Axapta aren't documented. Here i
mean that there is no "developers documentation". That doesn't make
the axapta-life easier!!

So I was wondering if there are peaople who want to setup a project
of some kind to get the documentation as complete as possible. Maybe
some of you have already some classes/tables documented. Others
could split up the work so that we have a better documented Axapta
environment in the end. It's maybe impossible to document
everything, but even 50% documentation is much much better then the
current situation.

Does somebody have ideas or suggestions about this? Are there enough
people willing to cooperate?

Please let me know what you all think about this.

Regards,
Mca

Hi,

Is it possible to consolidate two or more databases(headquarters and
branches). It is necessary for our case because the branches must
continue to work independently during the link failure between
headquarters. After the connection the branches' databases must be
consolidated with headquarters'. It is guaranteed that data structure
will remain same with headquarters' during the link failure.

thanks in advance...

Hi all,
Is there a way in axapta to cause sessions that are inactive for a
certain
amount of time to be killed? I see there is documentation on web user
session timeouts, but not on standard users.

HI Malcolm

I just want to add something. We actually have a tool that can
start/stop/status each individual instances. We haven't published it
yet, but I will work on that. I have the tool myself and it works
perfectly and also across servers.

Subject: RE: [development-axapta] Aos auto stop start

Hi

If you're happy to start/stop _all_ AOS instances on a given server then
you can create batch scripts with the commands:-

  NET STOP "Axapta Object Server"

and

  NET START "Axapta Object Server"

Then use the Windows task scheduler to run these two scripts at the
appropriate time. Obviously the START command will only work for you if
your AOS instances are configured to do Auto start.

I think I recall someone else posting something about this previously,
saying that they had been able to control individual AOS instances using
UDP protocol messages. This would be a much better solution if you can
find out how its done.

RE: [development-axapta] Window not opening

2004-07-27 Thread Kim Truelsen \(MICROSOFT BUSINESS SOLUTIONS\)

You might refer to this problem

Kernel hotfix 2 for SP3, Hot Fix

The Navision Axapta 2.5 SP3 kernel hotfix 2 contains corrections for
hotfix 1 as well as missing support for ActiveX form controls due to
Microsoft security issues. If you are not severely affected by this
problem, Navision recommends that you wait for the Navision Axapta 2.5
Service Pack 4.

Corrections made for:

*  The Axapta client does not support ActiveX form controls when
running under Windows XP SP1, Windows Server 2003, Internet Explorer 6.0
SP1 and Windows 2000 SP4. The area where the ActiveX is located is
simply not drawn on the forms. This means that the upgrade wizard, the
online Help, the web page editor, etc. does not work at all (New)
*  The Axapta Object Server (AOS) do not recognize changes made to
the application before being restarted. One client could change
application without other clients seeing it before the AOS had been
restarted
*  User license exhaustion due to problems in retaining COM users.
Installations were running out of user licenses without any obvious
reason

Installation procedure:

*  Before installing the hotfix kernels and associated files, exit
Navision Axapta completely and stop the AOS
*  Unzip the HF25SP3Kernel_002.zip and copy the files into the
Navision Axapta BIN directory
*  Start AOS again and Axapta is now ready to be run in the
three-tier mode
*  The upgrade is now completed

Note, the zip-file only contains one executable. If you want to apply
the second hotfix, the first hotfix also required as the AOS- and COM
component has not been upgraded within the second hotfix.

RE: [development-axapta] Web deployment problem

2004-07-12 Thread Kim Truelsen \(MICROSOFT BUSINESS SOLUTIONS\)

See on partnerguide. We released some new components to solve that error

Web Deployment, Supplement

Web Deployment issue
These issues concerns Microsoft(r) Business Solutions-Axapta(r) 3.0,
HotFix 1, SP1 and SP2 (SP2: Web Deployment cab only).

The Web Deployment component for Microsoft Axapta 3.0 was signed with a
revoked certificate. This will cause users to receive the following
error when trying to install or launch Microsoft Axapta from the Web
Deployment web page:

This issue can be resolved with one of the following methods:

Updating the cab file on the Web Deployment server and ax32.exe on the
client:
- Copy the new AxWebDeploy.cab to the Web Deployment directory on the
web server.
- Replace the appropriate ax32.exe in the clients Bin folder (usually
C:\Program Files\Navision\Axapta Client\Bin).
- Remove the old Navision Axapta Web Deployment Client component from
"c:\windows\Downloaded Program Files" by right clicking and choosing
Remove.
- Install the new Web Deployment Client component on the client machine
by opening the Web Deployment page.

Changing Internet Explorer's security settings (client):
- In Internet Explorer go to Tools | Internet Options, choose the tab
page Advanced.
- Scroll down to Security and uncheck "Check for publisher's certificate
revocation."

Hi All,
We have been successfully using the Axapta web deployment component for
some
time now. It has been a while, however, since we installed a new client
from
our web deployment page. We tried this recently, and it no longer seems
to
work. The only cause that we can think of is that we recently changed
our
web server configuration.

Clients that already have axapta installed and use the web component to
connect are fine, only new installs give us a problem. We receive a
security
error:
'The Navision Axapta file was not launched, because you chose not to
trust
the Navision Axapta file or because the Navision Axapta file can not be
verified as and original Navision Axapta file.
We have definitely elected to accept the file.

Previously the settings for Axapta were:
Windows Server 2000
IIS 5.1
Download with http
Directory browsing on

Current settings:
Windows Server 2003
IIS 6
Download with ftp

Has anyone experienced this before? Do you have any suggestions?

Always look in your Event Viewer. All changes will be logged in the
Application Event log.

Your problem is probably that

1. In administrative Tools/Services/Axapta Object Server/properties/Log
on   you need to specify a domain user. The reason for that is, when you
place the application files on another machine, AOS needs full access to
those files. A shared drive is not enough.

2. Database connection might not be set up correctly

3. Missing files

RE: [development-axapta] How to protect our source code

Sorry. NO. Axapta is an OPEN SOURCE program. You can protect your code
to be modified, if you place it in example VAR layer, but if you have
development rights, you will always be able to see, what your code lines
are.

Subject: [development-axapta] Clustering-again

Hi all,
I would like to ask about clustering again.. I have followed the advice
that
was given a couple of works ago, but it does not seem to work:
+ I have added '-cluster=ClusterName' to the Advanced field in the
general
tab on the AOS instance configuration.
+ I have restarted the AOS instance
+ I have added '-cluster=ClusterName' to the advanced field in the
general
tab on the client config.

The client still pops up a dialog allowing me to choose which AOS to
use.

I also tried (on recommendation) setting the Object server mask (Client
config, Client tab->Settings) to the cluster name, but this did not work
either, the client complained about being unable to find an AOS matching
the
specified settings.

Any recommendations?

Thanks Andreas, does this require the servers to be registered with Active
Directory? The only parameters I see that seem to deal with this
functionality are the aos ones, and they all mention active directory. We do
not use Active Directory at all..

You have to start each AOS with a command line option telling him which
cluster it is belonging to. From the client you have to use the same cluster
name option. In this constelation the client asks (via udp) every server for
his session count and chooses the one with the lowest session count. This
could be a ploblem if you must reach the cluster through a firewall.

How does one use this functionality? I thought I would simply be able to
use

Hi

We did a change in the SP3 release to size up the smartheap memory. Try
to change the code to this..

Classes/Info/Startup

    Hi all,
We have a VERY serious problem. Our installation is complaining
about
  being
out of memory, but the server on which it is running still has over
700Mb
  of
physical memory free and the swap file has only reached half it's
allowed
size. This is reproducible and potentially explains why certain bulk
processes we have been running are getting progressively slower. It
has
  got
to the point where when a user performs certain actions, they are
  presented
with a dialog with a title that includes 'smartheap lib' and with
the
message 'out of memory, please free some memory'. We have tested
this on
a
number of client machines and it occurs no matter where this is
run-so
we
are sure it is server related. We also noticed that it only happens
on
one
of our AOS instances, so it is AOS limited. Has anyone seen this
before
  and
    do you have any suggestions?

[development-axapta] AOS performance

2004-06-03 Thread Kim Truelsen \(MICROSOFT BUSINESS SOLUTIONS\)

Hi all

I would like to know if somebody has seen the same thing.

We have a large customer, who has complained about AOS performance that
is decreasing during the week. We tried to restart the AOS instance and
suddenly everything was running fine again.

Right now they restart the instance every day, but this isn't the
solution on the long term, since they will go 24X7.

My question is. Have anybody experienced anything similar?

You could change the System variable INDEX to value 64, which should, according to
training materials, make RecIds unique not within company, but within Company + Table

RE: [development-axapta] Negative RedIds & Custtable

2004-06-02 Thread Kim Truelsen \(MICROSOFT BUSINESS SOLUTIONS\)

Yes. We are currently investigating the possibility to extend that in
future versions (probably version 4.0 / 5.0).

So if you run into the problem with not enough recids, you have to run
the SysRecidRepair to clean up your list.

If you still have problems in a large installation, there is an
unofficial workaround.

If you have a large table with billions of records, you can actually
disable the generation of recids with the system
documentation/classes/systemsequences

systemSequence  ::suspendRecIds

Run on: Called

Syntax

public final void suspendRecIds(tableId _tableId)

Then you need to program something that handles the validation of
records and so on

RE: [development-axapta] Negative RedIds & Custtable

2004-06-02 Thread Kim Truelsen \(MICROSOFT BUSINESS SOLUTIONS\)

Hi Tomasz

As everybody knows we have 4.2 billion recids per company to deal with. 2 billions above zero and 2 billions below. After these recids are used Axapta actually stops...

The problem is that we are using more recids than we use. We waste a lot of recids, because we draw a number of recids from SystemSequences every time we are going to insert some records. I have seen a lot of installations were the recids was used, because they had imported and delete a lot of records.

What you have to do is to run the

AOT/Classes/SysRecidRepair

But only use the version 3.0 Sp2 - sp3 and in version 2.5 SP4. The class will free up unused recids and reorganize your recids.

RecId can be negative. OK. It is consequence of integer type of RecId. But
after 2147483647 negative numbers integer has 0! What will be done with
them? would it insert RecId = 0 ?
Next problem: After '0' value integer has positive values. There would be
inserted RecId, who exists in this table. What will be happen, if there are
relations on "unique" Recid's?

Best regards.

A valid RecId in Axapta can also be negative. With table.recid != 0 you can
check a valid record.

Hi everyone, I have two questions that I need your help.

1 - in our ERP project we have two companies. In the first company, all
recIds in all tables are positive but in the other company some recIds in
the table are negative. Do any of u know why that could happen? Is it
normal? Most of our code that includes if (table.recId!=0) statement fails
so we rearranged these codes. I will be very glad if any of u have any
exprience on such an issue.

2- My other problem is that; in custtable account num can collabse with each
other in these companies. A customer information can be changed with another
customer information with a different accountnum. I have written this to
partner source but maybe any of you may have a problem with custtable
accountnum before.

thanks a lot.

Apparently there is a bug in 2003 server that makes it impossible to
communicate with the COM connector.

One of our customers have recently encountered the problem when
trying to use a .NET component we have build around the COM
connector.

It wasn't me who found the problem, so I can't give you any details.

It could be that there is allready a 'Service Pack' available that
fixes this undocumented feature.

·
TRY
THIS

·

·

·
From the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE subtree, go to the following
key\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services.

·
Add a value(DWORD)to the
key Tcpip/Parameters, by the name KeepAliveTime.

·
Change the value to the
time in miliseconds you require (typically 3-5 minutes, i.e. 18 to 30
decimal).

·
Reboot the system to make
the change take effect.

The above will check the Client/Server connection
after every 3 mins or the specified time & will kill the session if it has
not been killed.

RE: [development-axapta] data import From an olderversion of Axapta to New version

2004-04-28 Thread Kim Truelsen \(MICROSOFT BUSINESS SOLUTIONS\)

You can import old 2.5
data into 3.0, if you only have the DAT Company. If you have created several
companies then the import fails. We did that on purpose!!!

Hi Pankaj

If you experience a problem with Axapta where you
would like to request assistence from Microsoft Business Solutions, you will
have to contact your respective country office.

This mailing group is not sponsored or monitored

Emne: [development-axapta] OCX error while
connecting to server on client machine

I would like to put the technical problem to
Microsoft which we are facing
while accessing Axapta production environment:

Environment:
1] Database server SQL 2000 Cluster
[Active/Passive] on Windows 2000/SP4
2] one AOS server 3.0 with axapta application 3.0,
Axapta client 3.0
installed on same server with SP2 [on Windows
2000/SP4].
3] Axapta Client with SP2 [On Windows 2000
Professional/Windows XP].

When we install Axapta 3.0 client on new PC, after
applying SP2 it has
been configured to connect to AOS and access
Axapta application on
production environment. After we log on to Axapta
we get following error
"The client installation is missing the
required files to run
Navision Axapta" Click ok to install now.

When we client on "OK" we get following
error:

Error Message (14:15:56) File 'C:\Axapta 3.0
\Client\share\include\TDSOLClockControl.ocx' could
not be opened.
Error Message (14:15:56) File 'C:\Axapta 3.0
\Client\share\include\CCLicens.lic' could not be
opened.
Error Message (14:15:56) File 'C:\Axapta 3.0
\Client\share\include\ctyear.ocx' could not be
opened.

I have also went to technet sites to find about
this problem and already
tried:
1] copying application and client software in same
directory at client PC.
2] Manually registering application server
OCX  files to register
at client PC by using "Regsvr32"
command.
3] Checking the permission on client directory for
full access.

Still the problem is same. Please find snapshots
of the error
for your preview attached herewith. Important to
note that when we access
this same client from AOS server itself, we do not
get any error.

Let me know if you need more information.

RE: [development-axapta] AX SP2 database error..

2004-03-22 Thread Kim Truelsen \(MICROSOFT BUSINESS SOLUTIONS\)

The reason is that your
owner of the Axapta Views has changed or the views are deleted. Look in the
database and see if the owner of the tables and the views are the same.

 If the synchronization
isn’t able to synchronize the views then the trick is to make a little
change in AOT on the view and the synchronize this view

Problem while connecting through Citrix ...

Hi,

We have few minor problems while connecting Axapta
through Citrix
and would be thankful if you can clear the
same.  The problems are -

1. Size of the tool bar looks pretty huge. And
across the system,
all the images are not clear. They look far too
big.

2. And second problem is - labels. In our company,
we have 'en-gb'
language license.  When we log in through LAN
(fat 3-tier client),
we see module name labels properly (Ex. module
names - Sales Ledger,
Purchase Ledger etc).  But when we log in
through Citrix (thin 3-
tier client), instead of the above name, we see
names as 'Accounts
Receivable' and 'Accounts Payable'.

What could be wrong here? Please advise.  Our
environment is -
Axapta ver 3.0/SP2 and Citrix version is 1.8a
Metaframe.

Thanks in advance,

Harish Mohanbabu

Hi Kim,

Thanks for your reply.

I didn't copied the application to another server.

What I did is - I connected the client that was there in the
problematic application server to another application server. And it
worked fine.

Subsequently I copied the application from that working application
server to the problematic application server.  After this when I
tried to connect to the application in the problematic application
server, the same problem occured.  After I enter the password
credentials, the client just hangs.

Hope this makes it clear.

I had a detailed chat with our Network Administrator. He insists
that he did not install any hot fixes, patches in the recent past to
the problematic application server.

Once again, thank you very much for your kind efforts.

Harish

I didn’t get it.
Did you try to copy the application to another server?. If it works here it
must be some kind of security issue? If not it’s probably the application

Hi Kim,

Thanks for your reply.

I tried as you had suggested and then re-started
the application
server.  But still the same. It doesn't work
(:-

The operating system of application server is
Windows 2000 Server
with SP4.  There are around 14 hot fixes
installed in the system.
Do you think it could be possible because of any
incompatibility
features?

Please advise.

Thanks,

Harish

2004-02-11 Thread Kim Truelsen \(MICROSOFT BUSINESS SOLUTIONS\)

Hi Harish

Well that looks very
strange. Did you copy the application to another machine and it worked?. If so
you have a security problem accessing your application files. Sometimes some
clients can lock the files too hard. A solution for this is to change the
registry on the fileserver. Look below. Are your files write protected?

I
received a hint, because he read my request in the Technet about this problem.
He told me to take a look at the article Q296264.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;296264

We only changed this registry entry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters

EnableOplocks REG_DWORD 0 or 1

Default: 1 (Enabled by Default)

We put in 0.

Hi Kim,

Thank you very much for your assistance.

But my problem is different - as soon as I enter
user credentials to
the client, the application just hangs.

When I try to connect the client that is installed
in the same
machine as the application, the client just hangs
until we manually
have to kill the client.

But if I do it other way around, the client works
fine. That is if I
connect the client that is installed in our
application server to
another instance of application (in a different
machine) the client
works absolutely fine.

Do I have to remove the application from the
application server?
Please advise.

Thanks,

Harish

Okay. Nice to know, but
our recommendation is also SP3a. The problem seems not to be related to Axapta
then, but my described scenarios could also cause similar problems.

Have a nice day.

SQL Server 2000: since some weeks DB-size grows

Hi Kim,

installing SP3a for SQL-Server solved the problem.

I don't believe it was one of the reasons below,
because page-density
dropped continually and not in leaps. One table
(salesparmline) did
need 800 MB and 600 MB from this was
"unused" (looked with sp_spaceused).

At the end 1,5 new records (statistically) in
salesparmline led to the
creation of a new page for salesparmline though 20
maxsize-records
should need less than one page.

re 1. no "leaps"

re 2. that would 1 GB more and no exponentially
growth, in fact we had
3,6 GB and a growth of 400-600 MB per day at last.

re 3. indexes, that doens't explain the
"unused" for salesparmline

re 4. that didn't happen, user data input was
"normal" and no external
data import took place.

RE: SV: SV: [development-axapta] SQL Server 2000: since some weeks DB-size grows exponentially

2004-01-19 Thread Kim Truelsen \(MICROSOFT BUSINESS SOLUTIONS\)

Hi all

I can maybe give you some
explanation why your database size is growing

Sometimes changes in the data model are leading the synchronization
mechanism to create a shadow “X897” table. All data from the
original table is copied to this table and the old one dropped and
recreated. The behaviour was very normal in 2.5, but doesn’t show up
that much in 3.0. The space of the table X897 (where 897 is the number of
the table) is the same as the original and therefore the used database
 space will rise.
Cross References. If you updated your cross references doing update
or later. It can explain the expansion of your DB. (Around 1 GB)
Indexes. If you have added a lot of indexes on large tables. It
 might also explain something.
Import of external data and deletion afterwards of the data from
 the tables???

I hope that might give
you some clue.

We have seen that
sometimes the files are locked to hard by a user. To overcome this problem you
correct the registry on the server where the files are, so no exclusive locks
are made on files. Its does not harm your installation if you do the registry
change. Try it and mail me if it works

Hi Kim,

How about also putting just the certificat up on
the Partnerguide..?

That would enable our customers to just update the
certificate
instead of having to load the total web deployment
client from the
web-site.

Error when starting Axapta Client

Hi,

I have the same error message when I start Axapta
by a web client.
I use both Windows XP & Win2k for the web
client and they have the
same error message :

"The navision axapta file was not launched,
because you chose not to
trust the Navision Axapta file, or because the
Navision Axapta file
could not be verified as an original Navision
Axapta file published
by Navision a/s."

When i start in .axc file, i don't have this
problem.

Does anyone has a solution ?

Thank you.

regards,
Jason

RE: [development-axapta] Axapta Crashes As soon as i try to open a Form

2004-01-02 Thread Kim Truelsen (MICROSOFT BUSINESS SOLUTIONS)

There could be several reasons for your problem.

1. If you run XP SP1, you need the SP4 kernel or the hotfix 2 kernel for SP3
2. Some application objects could have changed and hasn’ t been included in the
index file. Delete Axapd.aoi in the application/appl/standard dir. The file will be
create automatically again.
3. Check if you run the correct versions. For example if you run a 2.5
application and a 3.0 client or visa versa something like that could happen.

RE: [development-axapta] Axapta Crashes As soon as i try to open a Form

2004-01-02 Thread Kim Truelsen (MICROSOFT BUSINESS SOLUTIONS)
Are you sure that you start you Axapta 2.5 with the 2.5 kernel and with the correct
configuration. You can only have 1 Axapta registered on your machine, so if you didn’t
changed the directory of your 2.5 before you installed the 3.0 client, then your 2.5
client has been overwritten. Please check the version number of the kernel you start.

If you need additional help then just write back.

Hi Kim,

Thanks for your reply.

Earlier I have only 2.5 installation, hence my Axapta2.5 was working fine.

According to the point number 3, yes I have installed both version 2.5 and version 3.0
in my Laptop. But both are in separate Directories. I thought this may be the reason.
Hence I un-installed both versions. Then I installed again 2.5. Still Axapta crashes.
Any more Hint.

Amar

2004-01-02 Thread Kim Truelsen (MICROSOFT BUSINESS SOLUTIONS)
Axapta ComConnector doesn’ t work on Win2003 & IIS 6.0. This is due to some security
issues in IIS 6.0. I know that we will make a fix in SP1 to Win2003 which should be
released in December 2003.

Sorry for that.

2004-01-02 Thread Kim Truelsen (MICROSOFT BUSINESS SOLUTIONS)
Hi Karsten

I don’t know much about your installation, but when the record is missing in the
database it can be 3 things

1. The record was never inserted

2. The record was deleted

3. The user thought he had inserted the record, but the record was rolled back by the
database. If so you probably have unbalanced TTSBegin/TTSCommits

'Missing' as in not in the database when the user discovers the problem from the
application.

Don't know whether the records never got inserted or they were deleted later on - the
former seems most likely.

hi Karsten,

A bit confused by what do you mean by 'missing records'. Do you mean that records are
in the database but cannot be viewed in the form? or records never got inserted into
database and user did not get any error?

Both installations are 3.0 - one is SP1 and one is SP2.

The methods look the same in 2.5 SP3 but the problems with missing records haven't
been reported before. Since the SQL version (2000), the use patterns, the workload
etc. is as in 2.5, the naive conclusion is that it is triggered by some new 'feature'
in 3.0 - possibly in the kernel.

Hi

Is this Axapta 2.5 or in Axapta 3.0?

Hi,

Have any of you experienced missing records in tables InventTrans, ProdBOM, ProdRoute,
ReqRoute and ReqTrans?

Two of our customers are missing several records in some of these tables. These
situations occurs without any signs of errors (error messages, Axapta break downs
etc.).

The odd thing (at first) is that when the customers run into one of these missing
records, it is impossible to recreate the erroneous situation. There are of course no
alterations by us and no parameters that can explain this.

MBS then pointed us towards the methods ViewRecordCache() (and similar in the tables
mentioned above) that have return-type RecordCache. Their reply is to insert an
"return NULL"-statement prior to the return of the recordCache (apparently only a
problem with SQL).

The more I look at the methods and the ways in which they are called, the more the
explanation makes sense...

...but one question then pops up:

There must be A LOT of installations that have experienced this?!?!?

Best regards

I Found it. This job deletes the address from the CUS layer. Make your changes and
delete our own errors.

Have a nice day

You can delete the CUS-layer from Address if you run this job:

static void DeleteCUSLayer3(Args _args)
{
utilidelements u;
TableId tableIdAddress;
;

tableIdAddress = tableNum(Address);

delete_From u
where u.id == tableIdAddress &&
  u.utilLevel == UtilEntryLevel::cus;

pause;
}

Hi there

When I try to export from any of my development projects, the Axapta crashes, and come
with this error messages:

This error only occurs if I choice to export from the Application layer “CUS”.

I’m running on Axapta 3.0 with SP1, and there does not seem to be any other problems
with the Axapta.

Does anybody have an explanation to this?

And don’t forget to have a nice weekend.

Best regards

As I remember from a earlier tadorna or technet discussion, some had the same problem
in the VAR layer. The CUS & VAR layer is corrupted. The solution was to delete those
elements in the cus layer that were affected.

Try to look at your old tadorna mails or at the technet discussions
