Re: [slim] Announce: Album Catalog Creator v3

2010-02-12 Thread andrek

I thought I'd give version 3.1 a try (useful idea this Date-option).
However I get a failure message :
- Error while creating ACC database
- Error number -2147217887
- Error Description: Het ODBC stuurprogramma ondersteunt de gewenste
eigenschappen niet.
(my translation: ODBC driver doesn't support the requested features)
- Unable to continue. Click OK to quit ACC.

When I clear the From Date-field everything is fine. (MySQL ODBC 5.1
is working OK it seems). I tried various dates formats already.

I'll do some digging in the code and in my SqueezeServer settings

[slim] Configuring an SB3

2010-02-12 Thread ajkidle

Just received my dented box SB3 -- very minor scuff on the box,
everything inside was in mint condition. Very cool.

This is my first foray with an SB3, and obviously the screen real
estate is larger than I've played with in the past. I'm looking for
recommendations regarding setup. Currently I'm using SuperDateTime to
display weather when stopped or off, and Music Information Screen during
playback. Are there other gems out there I've overlooked?

And a question about Music Information Screen: is there a way to show
the source of the material being played? Pandora, Rhapsody, local
FLACs, etc.? Or maybe some other plug-in that accomplished this?

Playlist = Station used to work, but has been broken for many months.
I doubt it will be fixed as the new players cannot utilise MIS.
I'm not sure it ever worked for Music Service names, just basic Station
names.

Yes. To get a feel for how the Controller would work try controlling
the SB3 through the Radio (Radio *is* a Controller).

When I clear the From Date-field everything is fine. (MySQL ODBC 5.1

I did some further digging in the code and tried some extras:
when I add an exclusion for comment Dummy all of a sudden it works,
but when I keep the Comment-field empty it does not work.

 On the topic of Exclusion:
I noticed that when I want to exclude all albums with Comment
whatever , also albums with an empty comment-field are excluded.
That is not what I would expect for an exclude. (Another issue ?)

I see in the last line log file (of the failure-case):
 STATUS : AND tracks.timestamp
 unix_timestamp('20090101') WHERE tracks.timestamp
unix_timestamp('20090101') GROUP BY AlbumID, AlbumName, Disc, TrackNum
 ORDER BY album_artist.name, albums.titlesort, ABS(tracks.disc),
 tracks.tracknum, track_artist.name, tracks.url;

In the working-case this same line reads:
 STATUS  :   AND (comments.value != 'DUMMY' )  AND
 tracks.timestamp unix_timestamp('20090101') and tracks.timestamp
unix_timestamp('20090101') GROUP BY AlbumID, AlbumName, Disc, TrackNum
 ORDER BY album_artist.name, albums.titlesort, ABS(tracks.disc),
 tracks.tracknum, track_artist.name, tracks.url;

 I see some differences here:
 - obviously the cmment exclusion;
 - 'WHERE' is now 'and'

Hope this helps to find this bug

BTW: I also noted that when I select a comment to Exclude, also all
albums with empty Comment-field are excluded.
This is not what I would expect.

Hi Andre,

If I remember correctly you use dutch localization settings? Your issue
is likely related to that. The code I made is suppossed to cope with
that but due to lack of test users hasn't been tested enough.

Can you send me the acc.log file of the broken run? I may need you to
run a modified version collection additional information how data is
handled on a dutch localized version but the log file should already
give me some direction.

Re: [slim] SB3 bricked? (perpetual reboot)

2010-02-12 Thread Mike Schenk

As of today I have exactly the same problem with my SB 3 which is about
4 years old.

I have had it randomly rebooting mid-song for some time already (while
my other SB3 of the same age has no problem at all). But today it
rebooted again mid-song and now keeps on rebooting, showing the logo and
then rebooting again.

Pressing + on the remote will only make it reboot before showing the
logo completely.

You can play WAV files. VortexBox player dosn't work with SB3 it's just
plays the music directly to a USB or S/PDIF DAC attached to your

Does a lil app that interfaces with your server exist - I prefer not to

I'm envisioning a little applet that sits in your system tray or
somethin'...

It's my most favorite device ever and it would be very sad if it failed.
Plus I can't afford a replacement right now.

I couldn't agree more... I have 3 SB3s and this is the first failure I
have had.

Took it apart last night and found what appeared to be heat related
discolorations on the inside of the case and when connecting the unit to
power outside the case, I immediately smelled a hot electrical smell.
No smoke or sparks and I did not investigate further...

The case on this model (SB3 with Slim Devices on the metal face) has
no ventilation at all. Has this ever been an issue (overheating)?

In answer to the previous question regarding the type of SB3, yes, it
is wireless.

I was able to pick up a new still in box SB3 on eBay for $195
yesterday to replace this one, but they are sure becoming hard to find.
I have no desire to upgrade to the Touch.

Not that I've seen: a working SB doesn't get THAT hot. A bit warm
perhaps, but not uncomfortable at all. (So, maybe 80 degrees F? No
clue, I suck at estimating almost anything...)

Of course, some components just randomly die sometimes. I tend to blow
up capacitors on video cards. (ooh, look at the bulging top! I know
what blew up!)

Depending on what happened as it died, it may be possible to replace if
you know someone with some soldering skill.

Good points all around. :) I examined the PCB and all internal
components looking for deformations, bad solders, or scorching and could
not see anything. If something was obviously toasted I would not
hesitate to heat up the soldering iron and attempt a fix. Can't tie the
failure to an event because it was working when I left for work and dead
when I got home.

Testing each individual component, however, is beyond my expertise (and
attention span). ;)

[slim] Anyone have over 100,000 tracks in their library?

2010-02-12 Thread longhornalum

I recently bought an HP EX485 MediaSmart server mainly to run squeezebox
server for a squeezebox duet. After the EX485 took 3-4 days to simply
create the library and index the mp3's, I realized that the server was
not going to be able to handle a large library. I upgraded the server
processor from a single core 2 ghz celeron to a dual core 2.8 ghz E6300
pentium processor. My server and my squeezebox receiver are hardwired
into my uverse router, and I can get decent performance if I access my
library from a browser. However, if I use the duet controller or ipeng,
the connection can take minutes to list the files or time out when I try
and access certain genres or categories.

I am a little disappointed that I am having so much trouble just trying
to stream to a single squeezebox receiver. My real question is how much
hardware is needed to run squeezebox server reliably and be able to
stream to multiple receivers with a library of 100,000 mp3's?

Does anyone with a large collection have any advice on getting better
performance from my library or at least the wireless controllers?

Thanks!

2010-02-12 Thread IntegratedS

Hello friends,
Want to share about seo...
SEO is the active practice of optimizing a web site by improving
internal and external aspects in order to increase the traffic which the
site receives from search engines. SEO is not magic and there is no
magic bullet either. SEO is a long term marketing strategy with high ROI
opportunities. It s a long term commitment and a well formed strategy
which is key to success, a strategy that is followed and verified and
scrutinized along the way. The process of choosing targeted keyword and
keyword phrases related to a site, and ensuring that the site places
well when those keyword and phrases are part of a Web search. SEO helps
to ensure that a site is accessible to a search engine and improves the
chances that the site will be found by the search engine and the users.

Thanks
