Just afraid most lyrics don't come with timestamps. So will be
difficult to present all text (or user needs to manually scroll).

Actually, musixmatch.com, which is one of the sources I'm using for the
lyrics provides timestamps. Their lyrics are also legal to use, thanks
to agreements with music industry, in comparison to some of the other
sources which have lyrics that that hasn't been officially approved by
the music industry.

I haven't verified how many songs musixmatch.com have lyrics for yet
though, so it might be too limited to be useful.

Also without a plugin on the serverside, SqueezePad wouldn't have
access to lyrics in the tags. As I doubt that logitech will provide
something like that as a standard feature the only way will be via
 server-side plugins.

There is a lyrics column in the tracks table, doesn't the standard
scanner fill that ?
If it does, isn't there a JSON command to retrieve it ?

Ok - will have a look into it in a future version!

Looking at the results a screen with just cover art has the most votes
(though this time the result are very close) so I guess I'll start with
this as one of the next features.

Need to think a bit about how one could integrate that into the current

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android

2010-12-01 Thread baroquedub

I've been using SqueezeCommander for a while now - great app, thank you!
In many ways I prefer it to the Duet Controller... except for one
thing:

I can't find a way of adding a track to my favourites.

For example, from the NowPlayingScreen (where you can see information
about the current Song) I'd expect the '+' icon at the top-left to give
me the option to Add to Favourites, but I only get 'More of this
album', 'More of this artists' , etc.

Am I being stupid, is the feature hidden somewhere I haven't found yet?

You have to wait for 0.9.6.

And yes, in 0.9.6, you can find it where you expect it to be: in the

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Squeezeslave: 1.0 released

I installed the latest squeezeslave on my WinXP PC and I'm experiencing
strange problems with it. Every time I start a new track or change a
track, the music is interupted with harsh loud hiss/white noise for a
few seconds of the play. Then it works OK. I've tried to eliminate
various possible reasons but it was the same when I tried:
1. to use both squeezeslave and squeezeslave-asio with asio4all
2. different latencies with -y switch
3. -H switch

I also can use Foobar with/without asio and all is OK.

My SB runs on Synology 119j and is version 7.5.1-r30836
The connection is wireless 802.11n 5GHz and quite fast.
I have a SB receiver in another room and no problems with it either

Any help would be very much appreciated

First thing I'd suggest is uninstalling ASIO4ALL, reboot and then try
using the direct sound version squeezeslave.exe with just the -R option
and post back your results.

I've actually found the OSS version which uses the older portaudio
library runs better on lower cpu powered systems. You can also create
a binary that doesn't rely on additional external libraries. ALSA is
terrible for this, you have to install so much baggage like libraries
and kernel modules that use up a lot of extra memory which is usually
low on these systems to begin with.

[slim] How to jump to favorite by remote control?

2010-12-01 Thread EricBergan

One of my SB3s just died, so I have a Touch coming to replace it. I had
been running 7.2.1 server, and saw I needed to upgrade to support the
Touch, so went ahead and did that. But now, I can't see how to set up
my favorites to trigger from the remote control? I see references to
favorites and presets, but nothing about tying them back to the
controls on the remote.

This is an big deal for me, because my SBs live in a closed equipment
closet - I can't see the screen to navigate with the remote. I had
programmed my Harmony with specific favorites tied to playlists, so I
could switch easily.

Has this functionality really been removed?

[slim] Boom vs. SB1

2010-12-01 Thread donmacn

Folks,

I've hade a Squeezebox for getting on 10 years now I guess. I actually
have two SB1s; two 'Booms'; and a 'controller'.

Not so long ago, the Booms would sync with the 'main' SB1. Now, when
trying to listen to internet radio the SB1 just doesn't seem to cut it,
it's permanently buffering and 'waiting to sync'.

I'm using 7.5.1 on a Windows 7 PC with a Netgear DG834G router/modem.
According to the server settings panel the wireless strength on the
Boom (which is one room closer to the router) is 71%, the SB1 is at
48%. Switching them isn't practical as the SB1 sits on top of an old
'separates' amp/speakers set-up and the Boom is in the kitchen.

I know the SB1 is really old tech by now - but it used to work OK. Is
there anything in terms of compatibility/capability that could be
causing this?

There is one thing I wonder about: it's a relatively new PC and I'm
fairly sure it's connecting to the router wirelessly despite being
hard-wired via an ethernet cable (I don't know how to make it switch
over). I wonder if this means the 'double hop' of wireless signals,
from PC to router, then router to SB1 is causing problems, while the
Boom is better able to cope??

Any advice or thoughts?

(as I usually say at this stage; I'm not great with computers, but I
love the whole SB family/capabilities)

Ta

Donald

Yes. I think it may have been when the Boom was released, with its
front panel buttons for 'presets' (not favorites). So now there are
per-player presets, but there's no way to actually use them except on
the Boom and Radio. Favorites are no longer numbered or tied to the
numeric hot-keys on the remote.

I was trying to figure it out the other day:

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=83546

Near as I can tell, there would be no way to set presets using the
remote that would be comparable to press-hold on the front panels of
the Boom and Radio. So the remote can't do presets.

Here's the bug report created during the Boom beta that discusses the
behavior. Originally, the front panel buttons were going to be tied
into the favorites:

Well, shoot. I hate it when product teams take away existing
functionality, particularly when it was something I depend on. Not
everyone wants to sit right in front of the display to use the

I note that the bug you reference was marked resolved back in 2008, so
I doubt any of the developers are likely to be looking at it.

I believe the rebuffering on the SB1 is more related to the low WiFi
signal level. You can try moving your wireless router around to get
better wifi reception on the SB1. Or connect the SB1 to network using

Ok, if you managed to configure the receiver for LAN mode, that means
that Net:UDAP is already working for you. Great!

What happens if you use the the WPA2 config commands from Robin's
official Wiki page?
http://projects.robinbowes.com/Net-UDAP/trac/wiki/SampleUsage

set interface=0 wireless_mode=0 wireless_region_id=14
wireless_SSID=MySSID wireless_wpa_on=1 wireless_wpa_mode=2
wireless_wpa_cipher=3 wireless_wpa_psk=Top Secret! lan_ip_mode=1
squeezecenter_address=192.168.1.150

(Remember that the Receiver must be connected to your LAN while using
Net:UDAP, even if you want to setup a WLAN connection!)

Replace MySSID, the PSK and 192.168.1.150 by the actual values of your
network.

Hi,
I had also tried that config string, also did not work. I cannot see
the receiver connecting to my router (fritzbox)

I also repeated the string a couple of times to make sure I had not
made mistakes.

Any idea?

Hmm, what's the color of the Receiver's LED when you use this string?

(Remember to remove the LAN cable and restart the receiver after using

So the string from the wiki is the right one?

Yes, IIRC, I used the same string for my setup.

Please try this string again and tell us if it worked:

set interface=0 wireless_mode=0 wireless_region_id=14
wireless_SSID=Xberger wireless_wpa_on=1 wireless_wpa_mode=2
wireless_wpa_cipher=3 wireless_wpa_psk=453226982 lan_ip_mode=1

I can't try it with my Receiver right now, because I'm not at home, but
I can also re-check it tomorrow, if it still does not work for you.

No trial periods, discounts or anything on App Store. It's got a simple

I always thought so but I recently added a 6th one and I could still
put all my Apps onto it so it's probably either no limit at all or a

Can't play ripped CD MP3 files: Cu - cu

up at Current Playlist - Nothing.

I can get to the song from the web interface by going to Home Music

Not really... but hey... did you not hear... times are tough moneys
tight...etc...

As for the 2nd iPad, my 15yo daughter has started asking for an iPad so
it would really be purchasing her a used gift Of course I will have
to sell my Swan Diva 5.1 tower speakers to pay for the new iPad
anyone looking for a pair of nice speakers? ;-)

I did purchase both apps and I am messing around with them both at this
very moment.

I will report back my finding for others out there in the same position
that I was in being torn between these two apps.

Also I I found this older thread that talks about Squeezecast for the
iphone/ipod
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82702page=2

and it said it could be a good way to use the iPad as a SBplayer using
iPeng as the GUI once 4.2 multi-tasking came about... well
multi-tasking is here... has anyone tested it out or am I going to have
to shell out an additional $6 to be the guinea pig? I am going to have
to sell some of my other electronics laying around to pay for all these
apps! Anyone looking for a Sirius Stiletto cheap?? ;-)

more of this nature. Regarding your other question, there is no
answer---you'll have to ask the Logitech product dev. folks. But this

Well, if you can hold your breath for a while...Maybe... Or maybe
not... Who knows...

Anyway. I use SqueezeCast on my iPod and iPhone (haven't used it on the
iPad yet, iPad's just too bug to carry around for listening).
It works. It crashes from time to time and it's quite inconvenient (you
have to start playing something on Squeezecast to be able to run it in
the background) and it's UI doesn't work at all with my SBS 7.6 beta
server... but when it works, it works well.

[slim] Rhapsody Bug Fix Coming in Next ip3k Firmware

2010-12-01 Thread ajkidle

Very excited to see that Bug 16667 has been fixed and will be rolled out
with the next firmware. But my question is: how and when do I get this
update? Andy G stated:

--- Comment #16 from Andy Grundman a...@slimdevices.com 2010-12-01
15:41:10 PST ---
This is fixed and will be released with the next ip3k firmware update
as part
of 7.5.

http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=16667

Not sure what this means in terms of timing for when it will be
available to end users -- any ideas? (I didn't post this in Bugzilla,
not sure if these kind of questions are appropriate in that forum.)

BTW, big thanks to Andy for working with Rhapsody to get this fixed --
hope it didn't ruin your holiday.

this way you can play untagged or very badly tagged files.

Properly tagged files show up in artist and album and genre and so
