Re: [slim] Android Squeezeplayer over SSH?
bluegaspode;630766 Wrote: Hi strindberg, Together with another user I tried with SSH tunneling using 'irrsi connectbot'. This tool allows to configure port forwarding via SSH and is really easy to setup (when one has a Linux server with an already open SSH port). Unfortunately there seems to be a bug down the network route/tunnel: The connection to the download Stream (stream.mp3) never ends (at least from the perspective of SqueezePlayer), so SqueezePlayer doesn't know when to start downloading the next song. So with this solution one needs to skip song by song :( We tried to analyze network logs, but didn't come to a conclusion yet. I didn't look yet if there are other SSH clients available that create a better working tunnel. OpenVPN should work too of course, didn't have time to test this yet, but would be interested of course if someone else has set this up already. I've had good success using Connectbot/Squeezebox server. First setup the port forwards, then I use AOnline Radio App... to setup a radio station to stream from localhost:9000/stream.mp3. The squeezebox server streams perfectly. I control my remote squeezebox using SqueezeControl app... again setting up 9090(CLI) and (9000) in the port forwards. You can browse the library and play any song remotely. The only hitch is that Aonline does a good amount of local buffering (a good thing)... so there will be a lag when you change playlists until the buffer catches up. Over 3G...be aware that when you receive a call on CDMA/Verizon..you lose data connection..a bummer..so the tunnel closes. This issue is gone over Wifi, of course -- where I tend to use it more. But I have used it for a long trip in the carbefore I got a call to drop the tunnel (I am looking forward to LTE for this reason). For me, when I disconnectthe stream.mp3 just pauses for that remote player it will resume upon reconnectionkinda nice. -- jt25741 SB3-AR Masters Coax - PS Audio DLIII (Cullen L3) - Cardas Golden Reference XLR - Sim Audio P-5 - Cardas Golden Reference XLR - Sim Audio W-5 - Cardas Golden Reference Hi-Mid,PS Audio Xstream Plus Low- Magnepan 3.6R jt25741's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8645 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87655 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

And with an endless streaming Radio Station one won't even recognize any problems that happen when using multiple tracks. Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android
Generally the new interface is an improvement, thanks! However, I use SqueezeCommander a lot for listening to the BBC iPlayer where each available programme is given a description. When this description is viewed with SqueezeCommander it gets badly truncated. I'm sure this was handled better in the previous version, but I cannot be sure. I have given an example below, highlighted with red, where it is very difficult to see what the programme is about. Would it be possible to increase the size of the text areas so they can display all the content? It would really make a difference to me. Re: [slim] SqueezeyTunes - NEW! Remote control app for Blackberry PlayBook
Testing is much easier on the device as you get a proper feel for what is finger sized, I was quite surprised how different the real device was to the simulator. I would guess you need to increase font size for things like Album and Artist text by 20% and similarly increase the height of the rows by that much and add some more spacing between the play and add to playlist icons. Also most apps don't keep their top menus on display all the time, they use the swipe down action for that. Your top menu would fit right in with the look of the native swipe menus and clicking the config button would take you to a full screen settings page. A good example of the native look and feel would be the device settings menu which is available in the simulator AFAIK. Swipe diagonally from the top left to see what I mean. -- Jaicee Jaicee's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=45802 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87671 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Squeezebox Server Will Not Start
I have just started to to have a problem with the Squeezebox server to registering or starting. Yesterday I could not use my Squeezebox Touch at all as the server could not be found. I therefore re-started my PC and router but nothing changed. I therefore re-installed Squeezebox Server 7.54 and everything seemed fine for about 5 minutes and then back to the same problem. I then un-installed the Squeezebox Server, deleted all logs etc and re-booted my PC. I have now tried to re-install Squeezebox Server again and the software installs OK but the final part of the install Registering Services takes about 5 minutes to finish and then, when it has, the Squeezebox server is still stopped. I cannow not get Squeezebox Server to start at all ! The only change to my PC that has been made since Squeezebox Server was last working is that I added a new Bluetooth keyboard. However, as the previous keyboard was also Bluetooth I don't think it is this that can be causing the issue. Can anybody please advise what could be causing this problem. Re: [slim] Announcing SqueezePad - the first dedicated iPad App to controll your SqueezeBoxen !
I have been experiencing intermittent rebuffering of the first song played ONLY when I start play via Squeezepad - so there is a gap in the playback of a couple seconds. This never happens if I start play via the remote at my Touch or via the web remote. It typically happens first play after a very long delay (for example first play in the morning). It doesn't always happen. As far as I can tell I am running the latest code for all elements (the exception being Squeezeserver, which is ported by my NAS' vendor Synology, and their builds tend to trail the leading edge by a month or two). Most of my music is encoded either Apple Lossless or FLAC, with some of the FLAC being 24-bit/96kHz files. The rest are mp3 files with minimum 256-bit compression. I have not been able to establish any pattern, but I can remember the last time I had a problem was playing one of the hi-rez FLAC files (coincidentally -(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction- lol!!!). Network connection path from Touch to Server is gigabit ethernet all the way. iPad communicates via 802.11g to the home network. Any suggestions? I'd suspect something on the server side (disk wakeup, flushed linux disk cache, etc) except that it only happens via Squeezepad. Re: [slim] Announcing SqueezePad - the first dedicated iPad App to controll your SqueezeBoxen !
Hi rknopf You play the song via the Touch and use SqueezePad only as a remote? Do you always test with the same song? I'm pretty confident that SqueezePad is doing the exact same thing as the Touch (apart from not being wired) - so from my point of view I wouldn't know why the Touch would behave different when operated directly. Some ideas: previous version (7.5.4) of the Touch firmware had rebuffering problems at the start of FLAC files. Most likely this is due to embedded artwork that is always sent at the beginning of a stream. So the Touch buffers the picture, not the audio data :) In 7.5.4 firmware FLAC and PCM buffers have been increased by margins, to reduce buffering problems with FLAC that also other users faced. Re: [slim] Finally, the best Controller App arrives at iOS!
Another half-baked effort from Logitech. I've installed the app on my iPad2. It asks for my log-in to mysqueezebox.com (why??). When I enter the log-in details, it then takes me to the mysqueezebox.com site. From here, its not possible to access my music library. I tried deleting the app, reinstalled, entered the log-in details again. This time, the app told me my players were not connected (they were). There was no way to leave the page with this message. Surprised Apple allowed this app in the store. It sucks. -- johan73 Audio set-up: Squeezebox Duet TaraLabs Prism D1 Digital Mission DAC5 Audio Note AN-C Holfi Integra Oehlbach XXL-6 Infinity Kappa 6.2i johan73's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16968 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87212 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Squeezebox Server Will Not Start
I seemd to have now resolved the problem ! After having made several unsuccessful attempts of re-installing Squeezebox Server 7.54, I again uninstalled the software together with the log info etc. I then re-installed Squeezebox Server but right clicked on the program first and Run as Administrator. This installed the program flawlessly, successfully re-scanned all of the music library and everything is now back to normal and working (for the time being). What I cant understand is that when I installed Squeezebox server about ywo months ago, on a new Windows 7 install, I did not have to install under Administrator and everything worked perfectly until yesterday when the server went AWOL ! I hope this helps anyone who may have a similar problem. -- technojunkie technojunkie's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17753 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87683 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Finally, the best Controller App arrives at iOS!
Interesting. My experience with the Logitech app on an iPod touch is completely the opposite. Connected fine right away to my local server. It's a fair bit simpler (ie, less full-featured) than iPeng, but I've found it reliable and easy to use. It's a nice step up from the SB Controller. I don't regret paying for iPeng at all, but if this were available before I bought iPeng a few weeks ago I may not have felt the need for iPeng. Or to put it another way, downloading iPeng would not have been the very first thing I did upon receiving the iPod. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87212 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Announcing SqueezePad - the first dedicated iPad App to controll your SqueezeBoxen !
Thanks for your prompt and detailed reply. First, I decided to double-check and find I was NOT running the most recent firmware - I was still running 7.5.3, have now updated to 7.5.4. I always install updates when notified, but apparently had to go looking for this one! The buffering of cover photo would definitely make a difference. Synology is notoriously slow porting new releases, so 7.5.4 is not yet available. I'll install 7.5.4 once it becomes available. I have not been so systematic as to play the same song every morning but I can try that for several days, first with the Touch remote then with Squeezepad as you suggested. Given that the cover art first comes first, I wonder whether the recent change to my server config to resize artwork might have a beneficial effect on this issue? Coupled with the firmware improvements maybe this problem just goes away. OK, thx. That info is otherwise helpful though - I had been wondering why some of my downloaded FLAC albums never displayed cover art - turns out the vendor I usually get them from does not embed the art in all cases but does give me a separate jpg file, so I can add to the IDtag when I really want it. -- rknopf Roger *Player:* Logitech Squeezebox Touch, always latest firmware *Server:* Squeezecenter 7.5.3 - r31792 running on a Synology DS209 *Playback chain (front to back):* - Logitech Touch coax - modified Beresford 7520 DAC Discovery Essence - Outlaw RR2250 Integrated homebrew speaker cable - Audio Physic Step speakers - Audio Physic Luna powered subwoofer via Bluejeans Cable IC *Other:* Rips via http://www.readytoplay.com and dbpoweramp rknopf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38351 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80553 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
