can you still play radio?

I suspect your connected to Mysqueezebox.com rather than your local lms

server by giving its IP address

Hi youtube Tutorial User,

Did you clone the images or setup each rpi from scratch?

Just power one on, give them an unified name (just youtube dns name or
google *Raspberry /etc/hostname* ) and reboot it.
Same procedure for each player.
Problem should be solved.

Nothing to do. Except check progress when you do your first scan for new

Re: [slim] BBC online radio fiasco - comments, news, moans, campaigns

2015-03-12 Thread PasTim

I got a response from the BBC today regarding my most recent complaint.
They completely ignored my complaint about Listen Again, and gave their
standard response:

-Thank you for contacting the BBC iPlayer Support Team.

I understand you are unhappy with decision over Audio format closures.

We thought long and hard before deciding on the direction for Audio
Factory. The system replaces, not just the online streaming systems for
national radio, but also the systems for the nations and local radio. As
such we had to make choices around standardisation.

We have decided to use the http streaming formats HLS, HDS and DASH. We
began communicating our plans to internet radio manufacturers over 12
months ago. HLS streams are now available to internet radios and
aggregators that wish to use them. We have been working with various
manufacturers to help them develop their products where possible to
support our new streams. We are actively working on delivering our audio
using the non-proprietary DASH delivery format to support other
manufacturers and their devices going forward.

The Shoutcast AAC streams we provided for network radio only, relied on
very old hardware and unsupported software. They had a very high support
overhead. We have kept a single shoutcast stream of every live service
to support devices that will never be able to play HLS, HDS or DASH
streams. Whist we cannot promise to support shoutcast for more than 1 to
2 years, we will monitor the number of users and the quality of our
service and base our decision making on the impact to the audience.

Our new ShoutCast streams are unrestricted which means that we can make
them available both in the UK and globally, this significantly
simplifies how they are served, but does mean that users whose devices
can only receive the ShoutCast stream and not one of the new HTTP
streaming formats will hear a version of the stream which will blank
sport where the BBC does not hold international rights. The new HTTP
streams are available in both UK and international variants, which
allows those in the UK to continue to enjoy the Sport that we broadcast
as usual. We are investigating to see whether there is anything we can
do to return access to the UK streams for those who are affected by
this, we are working hard to get this resolved before big occasions like
the Country Cricket.

I hope that manufacturers will be able to support our new streams or
upgrade existing devices as time goes on, and we will do our best to
support them as the technology continues to evolve.

We’ve published a new blog that addresses some of these points and is
also worth reading:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/internet/entries/977a1954-658f-4fb2-a23c-71680c49882f#comments

I hope this information helped.

Thanks for contacting us.

So, if you have made a new card for each player they should all show up
(I can't remember the limit for the number of players supported by LMS).

I would suggest that you disconnect all six and start by installing each
player, one by one, in the Audio Player section of SqueezePlug/Max2play.

Make sur that all the settings for squeezelite (apart from the name, IP
Address) are identical and that each player works as you install it.

Also that you restart Squeezelite after each player configuration, or
reboot if you prefer.

Take your time and check each one as you progress.

As Squeezeplug also contains the LMS server.

can it be that on all 6 RPi's not only the player part is active but
also the LMS server part? It could well be that the player part finds
the first server locally on the same RPi and therefore does not connect

most stuff today present roughly 1 to 2V ( 2000mv ) at full volume so

Re: [slim] 1 Player, 2 Amps?

2015-03-12 Thread tcutting

No ... The outputs should have relatively low impedance, and the inputs
relatively high, so both inputs should see close to th full output.

I wonder ... maybe so many have had their fingers burnt with this that
they'll just say bye-bye to a free-standing device.

When I bought my first SB I had no idea it would turn out to be so
flexible. What a pity Logi pulled out of the market!

can it be that on all 6 RPi's not only the player part is active but
also the LMS server part? It could well be that the player part finds
the first server locally on the same RPi and therefore does not connect
to LMS running on your W7 box.

It could be this. I would recommend installing piCorePlayer on each Pi
that doesn't need to be running a server.

2015-03-12 Thread oldmako

I uninstalled LMS on my PC and wiped all the files. Now I'm
reinstalling it in the hopes that it will find the link to my Touch.
This is pretty damn frustrating. I REALLY want my Touch to work
(again). I had several great years before it went off the reservation.
Now, its a WTFBox.
If this works, I will post up.

Re: [slim] FNG. Old Touch. Unable my music Any help appreciated.

2015-03-12 Thread oldmako

Yes, I can still play the radio and Pandora through my Touch. It still
does not display my music It still tells me to download LMS, which as
previously stated, I have done. Several times in fact.

Diagnostics on LMS shows:

LMS - Running
Server IP - 192.168.1.2
port 3483 (slimproto) - OK
port 9000 (HTTP) - OK
port 9090 (CLI) - OK

then...

mysqueezebox.com

Server IP Address - 23.21.99.135
Ping - OK
Port 3483 (slimproto) - OK
Port 9000 )HTTP -OK

SHOULD the second box say mysqueezebox.com Or, should it show my
specific Touch??

Is this the culprit?

HLS streams are now available to internet radios and aggregators that
 wish to use them.-

There really is no hope for us dealing with such organisations. :(

The main problem with the BBC's tinned response is that while everyone
making internet radios and programming software aggregators -wishes- to
use the HLS streams, only one hardware manufacturer to date is capable
of doing so. The rest are still selling hardware that cannot be
retrofitted to accommodate the BBC's decision on what constitutes the
current state of technology.

There is at least one other European broadcaster whose programming I
listen to, that provides their streams in HLS for iPhone, but WMA for
wifi receivers. WMA is apparently still very viable despite BBC's
protests to the contrary.

Re: [slim] FNG. Old Touch. Unable my music Any help appreciated.

FIXED!!!

I added a second router to improve my wifi signal. The Touch will see
the new router, and clearly is capable of streaming radio and Pandora
off of it, but it won't talk to my PC over it. I have no idea why. I
was rummaging around on the Logitech site and saw something about
multiple routers.

So, switched the network on the Touch and had it use the old one.
Here's the thing, the router its now on is quite weak and far from the
stereo. Any suggestions on how to get it to recognize the closer, much
stronger router? I fear that this one will only cause issues.

Thanks for all the help.
