I picked up a 64gb Playbook very cheaply on the promise they will get the upgrade to BB10 this year. Anyhow, in the meantime it's doing duty as a Squeezebox controller and I installed Music2Touch. Main problem I have is that with approx. 6500 albums, the albums display takes way, way too long to come up on Music2Touch. Re: [slim] Please tell me it ain't so.
I've always though the Slimdevices buy-out was the scheme of a Logitech VP who was then let-go, so there was no-one to fight the cause. After the Google TV epic fail, I expect 'streaming' was the kiss of death to careers in Logitech. Logitech completely threw away everything they had. Loyal customers, growing recognition outside computer geeks (i.e. Stereophile cover) and the growing market for computer audio. Even if the core was niche, they could have developed the mass market from that base with a win32 binary of LMS etc. Sonos must be amazed that their main competitor self-destructed amcluesent's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10286 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96999 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I wouldn't want to change the whole layout yet to allow more or other lines. Fair enough. TBH, given the number of 'right' ways of tagging classical proposed on the 'ripping/tagging' forum you won't please everyone until you have a layout editor for the now playing screen. (Bit like the MusicInfoScreen plugin) Isn't the whole orchestra playing ? My preference is to put into ARTIST a concatenation of the soloist (if there is one), orchestra/ensemble and conductor (if there is one). Soloist gets named in PERFORMER and BAND is used for ensemble/orchestra name. -- amcluesent amcluesent's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10286 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80553 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Squeezebox Classic - Newbie
I'm confused as to what you're hoping to achieve. TBH, streaming radio is a 'nice to have' feature of the SB3, but not it's main purpose which is to stream music from your collection on the music server and do away with any reliance on a PC sound-card connected to DAC/Amp. If you really just want to listen to streamed radio with your current rig, just get a s/w client like Winamp installed the Dell Desktop PC. If you're already a big user of iTunes and like it, then you may find an Apple Outlook Express is more to your liking and fits in to your current set-up. -- amcluesent amcluesent's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10286 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76423 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Squeezebox Classic - Newbie
1. Stream music to my nightstand rig using the SB Classic as a receiver. OK, so install Squeezebox Server on the Dell Desktop PC and have it index your files. Install the Squeezebox Classic on the network (wired or wi-fi) and hook it's electrical digital output to the spare input on the Monarchy NM24 DAC. That way you can have streamed music and radio fed into the DAC. 2. Listen to the radio stations available via the SB Classic both at the nighstand rig as well as the Dell Desktop PC. So I'd install the SqueezePlay program onto the Dell Desktop, which is a s/w emulator of a player, so you'll be able to access all the same radio stations and play them on the PC soundcard. -- amcluesent amcluesent's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10286 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76423 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] mp3 tagging problem
I checked all the id tags first Probably a mixture of ID3v1/ID3v2/Vorbis tags. You need mp3tag to clean tags, read the wiki. Also, I find it helpful to set the COMPILATION tag so that Squeezecenter isn't guessing. -- amcluesent amcluesent's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10286 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=66126 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
