Re: [slim] MOG Problem
As of last night, I am no longer able to access MOG on any of my Squeezeboxen. I get a message that states cannot open file for: related to whatever I'm trying to play. If I try to access my favorites, i get an Error 500 - Internal Server Error. This problem occurs whether I am connected to LMS or to mysqueezebox.com. I have no problem using MOG from a computer, iPhone, or Roku. I've opened a support request with MOG, but as this seems very specific to Squeezebox, I'm wondering if any other MOG users are having issues today. Thanks! Did you have recent problems connecting to MOG, that required you to restart your network, NAS, Server, etc, to get it working again? Or are you giving me general troubleshooting advice? If it's a problem with my router/LMS/network, do you have any ideas why I have the same problem when connected to mysqueezebox.com? gdpeck's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4686 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93060 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

As you said it can't hurt anything. I'm still having the same issue and have seen a few other reports of it, here and on the Logitech support forum. Re: [slim] MOG Problem
I had already logged a request with MOG support and just heard back from them. They believe the problem is related to a system upgrade at MOG that took place yesterday. They are working on resolving the issue. They are notifying anyone who has opened a ticket with MOG, when the service is back up, so if you are having this issue and haven't yet opened a ticket with MOG, you should do so. gdpeck's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4686 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93060 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

The A5s also have a power saver built in, which makes them super convenient. -- gdpeck gdpeck's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4686 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89276 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Airfoil plus Airport Express or Alternatives
Hi All, I've done some searching on this, and don't seem to see my exact scenario listed anywhere in my search results. I am a very happy Squeezebox user with a Slim Devices SB3, a Radio, and a Squeezebox Touch. My music is in FLAC format stored on a local hard drive in a Windows machine. Squeezebox server is running in a Debian Virtual Machine running on the same Windows machine. I've recently upgraded my home office system with AudioEngine A5 speakers and a Velodyne SPL800 subwoofer. I have the headphone output of my Macbook Pro connected to the line in on the sub, then line out on sub to line in on The AudioEngines. The subwoofer level is balanced using test tones and a Radio Shack SPL meter. I'm very pleased with the results of this setup. I also have iPeng with playback enabled. Last night I started experimenting with using AirPlay from iPeng to an Airport Express plugged in to the AudioEngine speakers. Because of the way my subwoofer is wired, I had to disconnect the connection from my computer and plug it in to the Airport Express. Now I can use iPeng and AirPlay to stream lossless audio from my Squeezebox Server to my speakers via the airport express, and the sound is amazing. Instead of switching the cable or adding some sort of pre-amp, just to swtich sources, I want to be able to wirelessly stream music from my Macbook Pro to the airport express. I can do this from iTunes as it has airplay support built in, but I want to be able to do it from other parts of the Mac, such as spotify or a web browser. Maybe even Softsqueeze. I've been using the trial version of Airfoil, and it seems to work really well, but before I spend the $25 to license it, I'm wondering if there are better alternatives specifically for streaming from the computer to the Airport Express. Also, if you've tried this or are doing it, I'd love to hear your experience. I know that buying another squeezebox touch would give me an independent audio source from the computer, but I believe there would still be times when I want to play computer audio through my speaker setup, so this option seems to present the most flexibility. Thanks! Re: [slim] SB3 Classic or Touch
myvinyl333;650190 Wrote: I am considering replacing my SB3 classic with a Touch. Cons: have read here that there is a visual issue as compared to the font on the SB3 and the ir remote is very basic. Pro: I like the addition of adding a USB HD on the Touch and a color screen. Album art Thoughts and suggestions? Thanks, jorge I just went through the same question. I had two SB3s, and one of them died. I was considering getting a new SB Classic as a few places still sell them. I decided to go with the Touch, and am a little unsure that I made the correct decision. Here are some things that bother me: 1-The display is smaller and more sensitive to glare on the touch. From my listening position, which is about 12 feet away from the touch it is nearly impossible for me to read. I am using the built in functionality to make the font bigger when using the remote, but it is still too small. I haven't yet tried to use plug-ins to enhance this. Cover art is also pretty small, unless you are close to the Touch. 2-The Touch doesn't support being used as a wireless gateway, and probably never will due to hardware limitations. I used the SB3 as a wireless gateway and connected my blu-ray player to it. Now I will probably add an airport express in my entertainment center to provide this functionality. 3-The Touch doesn't support an IR blaster. I use an IR blaster with my bedroom system to control the receiver and it makes for a nice single remote solution. I was contemplating adding this functionality in my home-theater system where the Touch is installed, but now will not be able to. This isn't of major importance to me, since I use a Harmony remote with that system, but it would be nice to be able to use iPeng outdoors, and have the IR blaster automatically control the receiver for me. 4-The built-in analog VU meters on the SB3 are way cooler than the analog VU meters on the Touch I did some brief non-blind a/b testing and didn't hear a big difference in sound quality between the Touch and the SB3. That's probably because I didn't spend enough time testing or because my equipment/ears aren't good enough. In the Touch's favor, it is at least a current product so your chances of getting good support or repair may be better. I do like the Touch a lot, and think that you probably can't go wrong either way. At this point, I don't care about ever using the built-in server capability of the touch so that's a wash for me. Re: [slim] Can't Get Rid of music from shortcut
One of the folders I deleted completely from the hard drive in on my windows xp slimserver machine, is now being added back to the database. There is no music there, so nothing plays, but it shows up when I browse. Also I'm having a terrible time getting cover art to show up now. This all seems to have to do with moved files. Could somebody please tell me how to remove all traces of slimserver and it's database and just start over. I thought that I had done that, but I can't see where this stuff is coming from in the file system. Why can't slimserver just search the path I specify and leave everything else alone? -- gdpeck gdpeck's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4686 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=33158 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Can't Get Rid of music from shortcut
I'm using Slimserver 6.5.1 - 11206 on Windows XP. I currently keep two versions of music file on my computer. Lossless compressed files are in: C:\My Music\flac\artist\album\ Compressed files are in c:\my music\compressed\artist\album Slimserver music folder is set to c:\my music\flac Upgrading to 6.5.1 caused me to lose the ability to transcode. In troubleshooting that problem, I wanted to play some mp3 files so I created a windows shortcut to c:\my music\compressed\3 doors down\the better life in c:\my music\flac. I then did a rescan which added the files in the shortcut to my library. Now that I have resolved the transcode issue, I would like for the files in c:\my music\compressed\3 doors down\the better life to not show up in my slimserver library. I have deleted the shortcut, but subsequent re-scans still add the files in c:\my music\compressed\3 doors down\the better life back to my library. I have tried the following: -Clear library and rescan everything scans -Uninstall Slimserver, delete c:\program files\slimserver, reinstall -Delete playlists and rescan -Stop Slimserver, delete c:\program files\slimserver\server\cache, restart slimserver -Make sure that slimserver is set to Do Not use iTunes Nothing gets rid of these files. Any suggestions to fix this would be appreciated. Thanks!
