I'm having similar problem with tracks finishing early. See http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62770. I use InguzDSP and so use flac.exe rather than native flac. mp3 files are OK, and older tracks in my library seem OK. Have fixed my problem. I had recently changed the user that 'owns' SC to be a limited account. Changing SC to run from an account with full privileges fixed the problem. Re: [slim] Now Playing list empties itslelf
This is totally repeatable with the following steps: 1. Switch on SB3 (ie power jack in) 2. Play an album and check it is in the now playing list, 3. Play random songs (Music Library/Random Mix/Play random songs) 4. Wait 30s for the screen blank to switch to 'Now Playing' (just in case the 'jump to now playing' is required to populate that list, 5. Press stop, and wait 5s to ensure no timing issues with the subsequent power off, 6. Power off SB3 (pull jack plug) 7. WAIT 2 minutes 8. Power on (jack in) and wait to start-up 9. Check Now playing list - it will show the originally played album rather than the random playlist. Oddly, if I wait only 1 minute or less at step 7 then it appears to work OK (as if the SB3 has some kind of short term memory save, or capacitor to cope with short power glitches). That explains why I had problems repeating the issue. Also, if I play an album rather than random songs then behaviour is OK (ie this is a problem with the random mix plugin). Also note that this is nothing todo with my PC going into standby (with WOL) as I had previously thought. I'm surprised this has not been reported as a common problem as it does seem very repeatable! -- mortod mortod's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4651 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54458 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] SBC: Now Playing Wrong - Not Refreshing
I have the same problem - has been annoying me for well over a year now, since I think I upgraded to 6.5.3, and now on 7.2 Definitely only with random mix plug. In my case I power the SB3 off between listening sessions. I find that if powered off for 1 minute or less then it behaves OK, but anything over 2 minutes it will not remember the random mix list that should be displayed under 'now playing'. [slim] Now Playing list empties itslelf
I've been annoyed by this since, I think, I upgraded to 6.5.3, and 7.2 hasn't fixed it either. I find that the Now Playing list is often empty, or has not been updated with what I had been listening to. I always power off my SB3 between listening sessions (ie my remote sends a 'stop' and then powers off my amp which has a trigger output to switch the SB power supply on/off) - ie the power to the SB3 is cut off. Not sure if that is relevant. Also I tend to listen to randome songs, which might (not) be relevant. When I next turn the SB3 on I want to be able to pick up from where I left off last time, but more often than not the 'Now playing' list has not been updated, or is even empty. I've tried changing the screen saver whilst playing to 'jump to now playing' (which I think is a new option), but that doesn't help. It does seem to behave better if I manually view 'now playing' before powering off. I'm sure it used to work OK (ie pre 6.5.3). -- mortod mortod's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4651 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54458 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Now Playing list empties itslelf
It's definitely not the rescan suggestion - I rarely rescan. For example I just powered off now (I had been listening to some random tracks) , and powered on 5 minutes later, and now playing is again showing an album I played some days ago. Actually in this case I had rebooted the PC leaving the SB3 on. Testing again, the SB3 is beahving OK so long as the PC stays up, even when the SB3 gets power cycled. I think the issue is more related to the PC getting rebooted between listening sessions. The PC also goes into standby after 15minutes of idle (might have the same effect as a reboot). Does SC keep the now playing list in memory, or is it written to disk at all? 'maintain playlist' is set to 'remeber playlist' 'power on resume' is set to 'pause at power off, remain pause at power on'. -- mortod mortod's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4651 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54458 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Now Playing list empties itslelf
Finding it difficult to repeat. Did just get the symptons by rebooting PC whilst playing, with that setting on 'pause'. When I changed it to 'stop' it oddly seems to corrupt the original now playing list (ie just 4 tracks from the album showing). In any case I have the feeling that this happens more often than I reboot. Think I need to keep an eye on it so I can describe a repeatable sequence that gives the behaviour. Got it working - it seems that the hex codes in the .ir file all start with 7689. And in the custom.map file I added the entry: # LastFM skp/love/ban skip= modefunction_PLUGIN.LastFM::Plugin-lastfm_skip thumbs_up = modefunction_PLUGIN.LastFM::Plugin-lastfm_love thumbs_down = modefunction_PLUGIN.LastFM::Plugin-lastfm_ban And it works - I can now use those TiVo buttons for LastFM. -- mortod mortod's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4651 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=29317 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] WOL on SB power up (not just coming out of standby)
I have WOL working properly on my SB3 and XP PC. But I am also using my amp to send a 12v trigger to an external relay which switches on the power to various accessories (including my SB - I'm using a Power One PSU, and don't like it getting hot even when the SB is in standby). This approach is also environmentally friendly as my SB, TV, etc are not normally sat there consuming power when in standby. Conequently my SB powers up from scratch every time I come to use it, but it does not send a WOL magic packet on power up. I then have to use the SB remote to explicitly turn it on and cause the magic packet to be sent (you then see a 'waking up slimserver' message, which you don't see when the unit is first powered up). So my question is - is there any way to change the behaviour of the SB on power up so that it sends a WOL magic packet on power up. My guess is that this is nothing to do with the SlimServer version (I'm on 6.2.2) as it must be the firmware on the hardware that needs to be modified. The PC will only go into standby if I am logged out, or if the timeout is 3 minutes or less. If I am logged in and set the timeout to, say, 15 minutes it will never go into standby - unless I do it manually. If I disable Wake on LAN then it goes into standby OK (but of course the SB can't wake it). Once in standby the Wake on LAN works fine. Any thoughts ? -- mortod mortod's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4651 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=22845 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Discrete remote power on does not wake PC
I suspect this might be expected behaviour. I am using a OneForAll remote with JP1, and have downloaded a set of remote codes (not JVC based) from the JP1 site. That includes a Slim_Devices_Remote_extended.ir file for inclusion in the SlimServer tree - it includes discrete on/off codes, as well as implementing scan fwd/back without having to hold a button down. It all works fine, though the discrete power on does not wake my PC out of standby, whereas the power toggle does. I can kind of understand that as slimserver is of course unable to read the .ir file unless the PC is awake and SS is running. So my question is - does the JVC remote include a discrete power on which does not need SS to be running in order to interpret ? If not, then no matter as I can program a macro with JP1 that does a power toggle (to wake the PC), followed by a power on (to make sure that the SB3 is actually on). -- mortod mortod's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4651 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=22796 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Re: Qnap TS-101 Slimserver
Yes. I think you are in un-charted territory - see the main Qnap thread, as I posted this very question about using a bare bones Qnap from Scan, and the chap from Progressive responded saying that it has to be vendor installed - of course he is no doubt protecting his own interests, but I suspect it is field installable with a little know how. Do let us know how you get on - I would be keen to buy a bare Qnap and move the 2nd disk from my PC to it. -- mortod mortod's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4651 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=22760 ___ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
