Re: [slim] Now Playing list empties itslelf
This is totally repeatable with the following steps: 1. Switch on SB3 (ie power jack in) 2. Play an album and check it is in the now playing list, 3. Play random songs (Music Library/Random Mix/Play random songs) 4. Wait 30s for the screen blank to switch to 'Now Playing' (just in case the 'jump to now playing' is required to populate that list, 5. Press stop, and wait 5s to ensure no timing issues with the subsequent power off, 6. Power off SB3 (pull jack plug) 7. WAIT 2 minutes 8. Power on (jack in) and wait to start-up 9. Check Now playing list - it will show the originally played album rather than the random playlist. Oddly, if I wait only 1 minute or less at step 7 then it appears to work OK (as if the SB3 has some kind of short term memory save, or capacitor to cope with short power glitches). That explains why I had problems repeating the issue. Also, if I play an album rather than random songs then behaviour is OK (ie this is a problem with the random mix plugin). Also note that this is nothing todo with my PC going into standby (with WOL) as I had previously thought. I'm surprised this has not been reported as a common problem as it does seem very repeatable! -- mortod mortod's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4651 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54458 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Now Playing list empties itslelf
I've been annoyed by this since, I think, I upgraded to 6.5.3, and 7.2 hasn't fixed it either. I find that the Now Playing list is often empty, or has not been updated with what I had been listening to. I always power off my SB3 between listening sessions (ie my remote sends a 'stop' and then powers off my amp which has a trigger output to switch the SB power supply on/off) - ie the power to the SB3 is cut off. Not sure if that is relevant. Also I tend to listen to randome songs, which might (not) be relevant. When I next turn the SB3 on I want to be able to pick up from where I left off last time, but more often than not the 'Now playing' list has not been updated, or is even empty. I've tried changing the screen saver whilst playing to 'jump to now playing' (which I think is a new option), but that doesn't help. It does seem to behave better if I manually view 'now playing' before powering off. I'm sure it used to work OK (ie pre 6.5.3). -- mortod mortod's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4651 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54458 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Now Playing list empties itslelf
There are a couple of possible issues here - firstly, are you doing any kind of automatic or manual rescan during the time your SB is off? If so, it's very likely that your playlist is being wiped as SC rebuilds the database. There's not much that anyone can do about that AFIAK. If this isn't your issue, what is your Maintain Playlist setting in Squeezecenter settings? It should be Settings/Music Library/Maintain Client PlaylistRemember Playlist. Also, under Player Settings/Audio/Power On Resume - what setting have you entered? -- Siduhe Who am I on 'LAST.FM' (http://www.last.fm/user/siduhe)? -Siduhe Loved Tracks radio got the thumbs up. Re: [slim] Now Playing list empties itslelf
It's definitely not the rescan suggestion - I rarely rescan. For example I just powered off now (I had been listening to some random tracks) , and powered on 5 minutes later, and now playing is again showing an album I played some days ago. Actually in this case I had rebooted the PC leaving the SB3 on. Testing again, the SB3 is beahving OK so long as the PC stays up, even when the SB3 gets power cycled. I think the issue is more related to the PC getting rebooted between listening sessions. The PC also goes into standby after 15minutes of idle (might have the same effect as a reboot). Does SC keep the now playing list in memory, or is it written to disk at all? 'maintain playlist' is set to 'remeber playlist' 'power on resume' is set to 'pause at power off, remain pause at power on'. -- mortod mortod's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4651 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54458 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Now Playing list empties itslelf
Finding it difficult to repeat. Did just get the symptons by rebooting PC whilst playing, with that setting on 'pause'. When I changed it to 'stop' it oddly seems to corrupt the original now playing list (ie just 4 tracks from the album showing). In any case I have the feeling that this happens more often than I reboot. Think I need to keep an eye on it so I can describe a repeatable sequence that gives the behaviour. You'd think I know after a year of living with this. Will post back in due course. -- mortod mortod's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4651 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=54458 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
