Re: [slim] Touch replacement
Sorry if I've misunderstood this buy aren't you changing 2 things at once which is pointless for narrowing it down. Try leaving as it is but using the internal player, you could also try connecting directly but sticking with Squeezeplay. Re: [slim] Touch replacement
Did as you suggested. Inserted an sd-card and used stock player - pop is still there! I also tried with an Xperia Mini Pro and there's still a pop but a little less harsh - on the other hand it's is - with the Xperia - a popping every second while pausing the player; it's like a rolling sound, a wheel that turns and for every turn there's a pop. But less harsh... What I found out was that if I raised the volume in Orange Squeeze to the maximum, then I can lower the volume on the amp and then gets a less loud pop. Re: [slim] Touch replacement
So am I right in saying it's only when in the dock you get the pop? Does Squeezeplayer do the same if just connected directly to the the amp, how about if you use the input on the amp you used for a direct connection with the dock. Again apologies if I'm misunderstanding what happens but it sounds like either the dock or the amp input is the common factor so far. It could be a faulty dock I guess. Re: [slim] Touch replacement
I'm sorry, but I cannot - in any way - reproduce the non-popping. I tried to many different ways, I believe, and I know suspect that I did something wrong when managing to get it connected and not pop. But, with the volume on maximum and a lower amp-volume it might not be that huge a problem. I'll have to get back if I somehow get a non-popping connection ;) ButC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57330 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100475 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Touch replacement
I don't recall that happening on mine. Does the same thing happen with other audio on the desire? Might be worth loading a few tunes on a memory card and trying the stock player to see if it's SqueezePlayer or the phone producing the noise. What amp are you using. Your description of receiver reminds me of a previous AV Receiver I owned, if you used an input that also had an associated digital input the receiver would try and lock on to the digital input 1st so you'd often get a pop when it switched to the analogue signal. The receiver concerned had some specific analogue only inputs that didn't do that, just a thought. Connecting the phone directly (Tuner line-in) and using stock player doesn't produce the pop. Switching from Aux to Tuner and using Squeeze Player still makes it pop. Depends on the OS of the smartphone. If its Android there's 2 apps available that do playback. Squeeze Player and SB Player. If its iOS then iPeng has an in app purchase for playback. All of those options will work very similarly to any other player, however certain streaming apps only work on real hardware and sync won't be as reliable or accurate. This reminds me of friends in the 1990s saying, computers are getting cheaper and better every year so I'll wait to buy one later. Taken to the extreme, these friends would have reached 2012 never having owned a computer. If your friend wants a high quality, inexpensive network music player, he should get a TOUCH now. Heck, I have two extra TOUCH players purchased on sale that I don't even use now stored as backups should something break in my other units (and at that time in the future, TOUCH players aren't available). and besides, once you have a SB player, you are likely to figure out that you need more. So if a touch2 comes out, it can be added to your friend's system in some other use. Heck, I started out just wanting a BOOM as a bedside internet radio. Re: [slim] Touch replacement
Well, I understand your argument, but the thing is the Touch has been in the market for a long (if not too long) time, and it would be reasonable to assume that Logitech is gonna introduce a new Squeezebox in a near future. My friend just doesn't want to buy Touch 1 today and feel cheated a week later when Touch 2 hits the stores. -- vinhattieu vinhattieu's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35921 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94020 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Touch replacement
The catch-22 here is that logitech doesn't announce future new products. We'll just have to wait until it happens. could be next week, could be two years. The TOUCH is not really that old given the historic product release pattern of SB Players. I'm just guessing, but I'd bet on something like a BOOM II (a boom with the display/guts of the radio/touch. But a BoomII doesn't really take the place of a TOUCH for use in connecting with a stereo system. -- garym *Location 1:* VB Appliance 6TB (1.10) LMS 7.7.1 Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Location 2:* VB Appliance 3TB (2.0) LMS 7.7.1 Touch Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) LMS 7.7.1 SqueezePlay Retired: SB3, Duet Receiver Controllers: iPhone (iPeng), iPad (iPengHD SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.7 on Win7(64) laptop Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Additional Tagging - mp3tag garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94020 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Touch replacement
Go for Touch now, this is a good pick. Every new SB annoucement get leaked on this forum, so I can bet there is no plan for any Touch HW refresh in the next six month. The only news is that Logitech will not drop the ball and that next product might strongly contain speakers ...so no Touch2 yet. -- your momo your momo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8095 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94020 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Try a little less than two (released April 2010, see http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Hardware_comparison). I have strong doubts that there will be a Touch 2, so if your friend wants the latest SB, get a Touch now. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94020 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
