I believe that's Dean on the left, Sean 3rd. I have a suspicion the
second person is Caleb (holding Boom). Right?

Nice to put names to faces.

Also there seem to be cool understated black shirts here and there with
squeezebox boom and squeezebox duet on the back.

Correct for Caleb and Sean. Dean had to leave early. Left is Tim Westergren

So the next question is, how do we get our hands on Logo Shirts?

http://picasaweb.google.com/mikefiegerlogitech/LogitechSMSBBQ20080911?pli=1#5246435018794332930

Doesn't look like anything in the Logitech SMS line. There seems to be
a grille on top possibly for a speaker.

Zooming in on that photo, it has an Ethernet port on the bottom left
and what look like RCA jacks on the right. There's a logo above this
connection panel that could be Logitech but it's too fuzzy to make out.

Re: [slim] Come BBQ with the Squeezebox and Pandora crew

2008-09-25 Thread MickeyG

You guys are good. It was a Kerbango.

A guy who had worked on the Kerbango for 3Com showed up. I was behind
one of the tables when he approached me and pulled it out of a bag. I
didn't recognize it at first, but I had that aha! moment when he
mentioned the name.

His point was that Slim Devices/Logitech was successful at making an
Internet radio and Squeezeboxes were successors to it -- a son of
Kerbango.

I don't believe he had a Squeezebox in it. Although I didn't ask, I
think he was one of the original developers on it.

Sean happened to be standing there and struck up a conversation with
him too.

2008-09-20 Thread autopilot

The world thinks British summers are completely terrible, cold and wet.
But this is only due the the British obsession with weather and moaning
about it. It's true the last 2 summers have been absolutely awful in
terms of rainfall and flooding, but the British summer is generally not
that bad at all. Apart from the last couple of freak wet ones, really
love the English summer and its such a beautiful country in summer. The
thing about the British weather is that it can be very surprisingly
changeable and we often get our best days late spring and early autumn
(fall). I know many parts of the US and Europe are worse and the
average rainfall in Seattle and Paris for example is actually much
higher.

Maybe it could be included in Staff Picks. In fact a Slimdevices

How about getting the Logitech folks in UK to team up with last.fm for a
similar event.
I'm sure that enough of us enthusiasts from south of England could do
the demos if Logitech UK are not up to speed.

I don't doubt that, but last.fm HQ is in east London and Logitech UK is
in Slough - so it could be a long way to travel (for a Brit) for a
couple of burgers and a play on a Boom ;)
