Re: [Dx4win] Printing Address and or QSO Strips

2023-02-20 Thread Eric Rosenberg

I used a Brother QL-550 until recently for DX4Win and as a QSL bureau
sorter.

Either the Brother driver changed, the DX4Win driver changed (v8 vs v9),
or an update to Win10 caused it to stop working, sadly, I didn't keep
track.

I haven't been able to get it to work lately. When it worked, it was
fantastic.

Greetings,

This may have been addressed, but I have not been successful in finding the
post.

My DX4WIN is of the current version. I have a Dymo LabelWriter for a label printer. I am
trying to set it up to print address labels and/or QSO strips. The labels I am using are
3 3/8" wide by 1" high. Has anyone been successful printing address and or QSO
strips with this setup? Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

[Dx4win] DX4Win Label Printing Problem

2022-11-16 Thread Eric Rosenberg
I've been using DX4Win for ages, but have recently had problems printing
QSL labels.

I can't get it to print to my Brother QL-550 label printer.

I can print a test page from the Win 10 "devices" set-up page, but when I
print from DX4Win, I get an error message saying that labels in the printer
don't match what the application is calling for. The weird part is that the
size of the label cited in the error message is the same as what's
specified in the software and what's in the machine.

I corresponded with Paul about this issue a year or so ago with no
success.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Re: [Dx4win] DX4Win ADIF Importing Question

2021-02-04 Thread Eric Rosenberg
Mike,

Thanks. I looked at it on Jim's website.

What isn't clear to me is how I measure and correlate the location of the
ADIF field identifying the contest to where it goes in DX4Win

I thought about using the Cabrillo file, but the contest name is found only
in the file header.

The other issue, which may be easier to answer is to bulk move the group
name to the Notes for this QSO field.

Any suggestions?

I've tried every method

I've had no luck with every method I've been able to find to recover

Could I be missing a file?

Should I re-install DX4win (v9.0.9.1259)? I've never used the Bandmap

computer.

[Dx4win] DX4win Bandmap and LP-PAN w/NaP3?

2020-12-24 Thread Eric Rosenberg
1. I can't get DX4win's bandmap to work. Clicking on it in the DX Spots
popup menu does nothing,

2.While I can get LP-PA and NaP3 them to work simultaneously and
independently, I am wondering if I can integrate them.

That's to say, click on the LP-Pan screen and add the info into DX-4win and
move the VFO. That would be very cool.

That's what Waterfall Bandmap does with N1MM+

[Dx4win] Merging/changing groups

2020-12-14 Thread Eric Rosenberg
Over the years, I've operated from many QTH's and with a variety of
callsigns, both US and DX.

As a result, I have over 150 Groups in DX4Win for my US callsigns, all
based on activities, specifically contests.

I'd like to consolidate the US QSOs to create two levels of groups, the top
level one with callsign and QTH, the next level with activity (in this
case, contest name).

Can I do this? If so, how?

[Dx4win] Broken Printer Driver in v9?

2020-08-21 Thread Eric Rosenberg
With version 8, I was able to create a custom label for Brother DK-1209
labels.

With version 9, it won't work. I get error messages saying that the
label size in the application (DX4Win) isn't the same as the printer.
The label size reported by the printer is correct.

The label size shown in DX4Win is *not* what I set it for when editing.
Try as I might, no matter what I enter, DX4Win will not change it.

Others have reported that they, too, had luck with v8, but not v9.

I there a fix?

[Dx4win] Printing with Brother DK-1201 labels?

2020-07-31 Thread Eric Rosenberg
I'm having a terrible time printing Brother DK-1201 labels with my Brother
QL-550 printer.

The printer is similar to the Dymos, being a Die Cut PC Label Printer, with
the labels on a spool not a sheet.

The label size is 29 mm x 90 mm (1-1/7" x 3-1/2").

I've set up a custom format, filling in only the following:
Label Width and Label Height (3.500 and 1.140 inches)
Nr across and Nr down (1 and 1)
Paper size (custom)
Page width and Page height ( (3.500 and 1.14 inches)

All other dimensions are 0.000

When I try to print, I get an error message "the roll of labels or tape
inside the machine does not matches the one selected in the application."
It also shows the paper size in the printer as being what I set it at, but
the paper size in the application as 2-37"x2"

I created another custom label using the label's metric size, but got the
same error.

My guess is that this is a DX4Win problem.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Re: [Dx4win] Printing labels

2020-03-24 Thread Eric Rosenberg

I've had the same problem.

I use a Brother QL-550 printer.

The labels I use are DK-1201 (1-7/8" x 3 ½” / (29mm x 90.3mm) and
DK-1209 (1/-1/7" 2-3/7" - 28.9mm x 62mm).

I can't get DX4Win to print correctly. I worked with Paul with no
success.

Any suggestions? An outboard driver or separate program for printing
these labels (BV)?

Hi All,

I now have a Dymo 450 Turbo LabelWriter. I've been try to print labels
from DX4W as I have in the past with Avery labels.

After a lot of experimenting I've come to the conclusion the label
editing for size is not working. No matter what I put in the editor the
report box is still to long for the standard 2 1/4 x 1 1/4 Dymo label.
On Jim's web site there is an app note for Dymo printing which I've been
trying to work with and brought me to this conclusion.

Has anyone else found this out and have you found a work around?

Is there a way to print labels to a CSV file that could be imported to
LabelWriter?

Thanks,

Wayne?? WA1PMA

[Dx4win] Adding GROUP field to ADIF output ?

It also includes the label it is looking for, which is NOT what I set it

I've gone around in circles in my attempts to get this combination to work.

Re: [Dx4win] Printing Labels in Sequence?

Dave,

Thanks, but this isn't what I'm looking to do.

I want to the QSOs to be printed in chronological order from the first QSO
on the first label to the last (most recent) as the last QSO on the last
label.

As things stand, the printing oprder is somewhat arbitrary.

In one case of 7 QSOs to the same callsign, there are three labels -- one
label has one QSO, another has two and the third has four. The QSOs on both
the second and third label are not in order.

How do I remedy that?

Eric,

Click F8, type in station call sign, hit enter All QSOs with that station
will be displayed in logbook window Click QSLs tab, Set QSL Label flag,
follow prompts Click Print QSL labels under same QSLs tab Select the custom
label that you would like to use Uncheck most Print options (Group Names,
Method Labels, etc.) I only use Print Via Manager Click on Edit and review
format Multiple QSOs should be showing in the preview You can uncheck
Commercial to free up more space for QSOs Go back to main Print QSL labels
pop up window Click on Print, follow prompts Labels should print

I can normally get up to 4 QSOs to print on one label.

Hope this helps.

Trying to work 3D2ER on 160M while I type this!

I'm using a Brother QL-550 label printer.

Is there an existing (pre-existing) format for the DK-1201, DK-1208 or
DK-1209 labels? The margins when adding any of them manually are too tight
and I'm not able to change them.

Thanks & 73,

[Dx4win] Printer driver issue

2017-10-29 Thread Eric Rosenberg
I use a Brother QL-550 label printer. It's great... except that I can't get
it to print more than 2 QSO's per label.

Is that a printer driver or other issue?

Any help is appreciated!

[Dx4win] Help with missing logbook window

2016-07-17 Thread Eric Rosenberg
I brought up DX4Win this evening having not used it in a while.
Everything came up except the log window.

I went the QSO box, clicked on Window and then Logbook, and nothing
happened.

All the logs are in the right directory and can be loaded. None of them
allow me to view the log.

What happened? What did I do wrong?

Any help is appreciated.

[Dx4win] REVISE: Max# of QSO's on a label?

2016-03-19 Thread Eric Rosenberg

Is there a way to change the maximum number of QSO's on a label?

It seems that even though I enter 6, which will fill a large label, it
tops out at 5.

Whether I add the two lines of text underneath the exchange or not
doesn't seem to make a difference.

Hi Radi -

Randy, K5ZD, put me on to LM, by DL6WAA, when I volunteered to transcribe paper
logs for the WPX. It does a good job of streamlining
this task as much as possible, but it's still a time consuming job doing it by
hand like this...

You can export a file in a number of different formats.

Good Luck!

[Dx4win] Brother DK-1209 Label Problem

2015-12-30 Thread Eric Rosenberg
I've started using a Brother one-label-at-a-time label maker, the
QL-550, with DX4Win v8.05 It's a very nice printer, and much easier to
deal with than a conventional printer and sheets of labels.

I first started out using DK-1201 labels, which are 1.1" x 3.5" (28.9mm
x 90.3mm) which were fine other than that each label had to be trimmed
as they are wider than the space on my card.

I then tried the DK-1209 label, which is 1.1" x 2.4" (28.9mm x 62mm).
For some reason I cannot explain or figure out how to cure, the
printable space in height is less than with the 1201 label, which is the
same size.

I've tried adjusting all of the tweakable parameters in DX4Win, but
can't expand that space.

Can anyone help?

Thanks, 73 & Happy New Year!

[Dx4win] Comparing Cards Confirmed vs. LoTW Confirmed?

2015-03-19 Thread Eric Rosenberg
I can't quite figure out how to determine which DX entities are confirmed

It's been ages since I had cards checked, and I know that the combination of

[Dx4win] FW: Comparing Cards Confirmed vs. LoTW Confirmed?

2015-03-19 Thread Eric Rosenberg
Maybe I didn’t explain myself.

I want to see two things in DX4Win

What DX countries are confirmed with a card
What DX countries are confirmed with LoTW

That way I can see what cards need to be hand checked so the LoTW records
can be updated and the download will match (the accounts are tied together
(sync'd) on LoTW).

Make more sense? I hope so!

I don't think there is a way to check what LOTW thinks is a card vs.
a LOTW confirmation once it's been entered in the database. At least, not

[Dx4win] Laser printer for QSL cards and Labels?

My old HP 1100A is about to die, and I'm looking for a replacement.

My only real criteria is that it doesn't cause the labels to creep as

Networking would be great, but is not essential.

Under filepreferencesQSO tab, set QSO date to Range.
After that you can search (F8) between 2 dates. Search for the qsos you
want.
In qso window go to QSOMultiple QSOs operationsSet group number and
put the right number.

[Dx4win] Postal Service says stamp prices are going up on January 1

2011-10-19 Thread Eric Rosenberg
Time to buy those Forever (and other) stamps!

From the Washington Post: and Washingtonpost.com

Eric W3DQ

---

Postal Service says stamp prices are going up

By Ed O’Keefe, Published: October 18

Nothing lasts forever.

Stamp prices will climb 1 cent starting in January, the U.S. Postal
Service said Tuesday.

The cost of a first-class stamp — also known as a forever stamp — will
rise to 45 cents on Jan. 22, the first price increase in more than 2-1/2
years, the USPS said. The cost of sending magazines, standard mail and
some package services also will rise, but prices for Express Mail and
Priority Mail will stay the same.

The 1-cent increase is expected to generate an additional $888 million
in revenue, postal officials said Tuesday.

The jump “is small and is needed to help address our current financial
crisis,” Postmaster General Patrick R. Donahoe said in a statement,
adding that although the USPS continues to “aggressively cut costs,” it
needs Congress to pass postal reform legislation that he said would make
it easier to save money.

Starting Jan. 22, the USPS said rates will be:

- First-class letters (1 ounce): 1-cent increase to 45 cents.

- Letters weighing additional ounces: unchanged at 20 cents.

- Postcards: 3-cent increase to 32 cents.

- Letters to Canada and Mexico (1 ounce): 5-cent increase to 85 cents.

- Letters to other international destinations: 7-cent increase to $1.05.

The Postal Service says it has lost about $10 billion in the fiscal year
that ended last month. It is pushing Congress to enact a series of
reforms that would permit it to end Saturday mail deliveries, close post
offices and mail processing facilities, and raise postage rates beyond
the rate of inflation.

The price increases announced Tuesday, and formally filed with the
Postal Regulatory Commission, are capped by law at 2.1 percent, the rate
of inflation based on the consumer price index.

Subject: [Dx4win] Printing QSLs Two Different Ways?

I've just gone through my entire log file and have ~2500 QSOs tagged for
QSLing (all via the bureau). If I can put 5 QSOs on one card, I'll need to
 print ~1500 cards.

Unfortunately, I have only 1000 cards left.

My thought is to print out 600 or so cards and send them out via the
outgoing bureau. The remaining would go via Global QSL.

 My problems are two-fold:
 1. How I set DX4Win to print only the first 500 cards?
 2. Global QSL wants the data in the ADIF format. How do I export the
 remaining data into ADIF?

... or am I asking for trouble? Should I just bite the bullet and do it all
through GlobalQSL or get more cards and print them all locally?

 Thanks,

[Dx4win] Deleting Multiple QSOs

2011-04-24 Thread Eric Rosenberg
I was looking at a log I imported into DX4Win from Writelog and realized
that each QSO is in my DX4Win log twice. I checked the ADIF file generated
by WL and it's okay... one entry per QSO.

I now need to either
delete the dupes (1000)
or
delete the entire date range and re-upload

I tried creating a filter for the date range, but that didn't work.
I then tried uploading +the ADIF file again, setting it to delete hte dupes,
but that didn't work either.

Not sure what to do next. The thought of manually deleting the 1000 entries
is not a good on :-)

Any help is appreciated.

[Dx4win] Questions on Listing/Using Groups and Operators

2010-03-05 Thread Eric Rosenberg
Two unanswered questions -- maybe Paul or Jim can help.

1. I use the GROUP feature to assign QSOs to a specific contest.when I
import a new file into DX4W. I have many thousands of QSOs and over 50
Group names.
I'd like to print a list of all of those group names, as I've found that
I've missed a couple of contests and would like to assign them to new
groups that will be in sequential (date) order. Is there an easy (or
relatively easy) way to retrieve that GROUPS list?

2. We've been doing multi-ops here at W3DQ (and last year @ W3A). The
logs have the OPERATOR field defined in the ADIF file. How can I import
that filed into the and then onto the QSL card?

[Dx4win] Multiple QSL Tags?

2009-08-17 Thread Eric Rosenberg
I've run into an interesting problem/challenge:

For the W3A special event operation, we offered QSL cards and certificates.

In the log, I'd have liked have been able to mark the QSO to print both QSL
and certificate individually, as these two items were printed at different
times. This might mean two entry fields. They are sent together, so that's
not a problem.

Is this possible, or does it require additional coding?

Re: [Dx4win] Converting an ADIF Field?

I've received two conflicting answers.

As to the comment: You don't really need a name on a QSL card... and it
gets meaningless if you do a lot of contesting where the ops name is
often unknown. I agree in the contest context. However, this was a
special event station and it would be a nice touch!

Comments refer to a specific QSO.

Notes apply to the callsign. This is where the name normally goes.

This is how it works in all the logging programs I am familiar with.

[Dx4win] Defining ADIF Fields and Other Issues

2. I want to set a group name, yet the edit group pull-down is grayed out.

3. I want to go back and block UNcheck the Upload field, yet do not
see how to do it.

4. I want to populate the 5B WAS and 5BDXCC submissions where
appropriate (presumably the first in the log in that band/mode). Can't
figure out how to do that!

[Dx4win] Help with hybrid DX4win/LoTW submisison

2009-01-07 Thread Eric Rosenberg
From the user perspective, this process is unnecessarily complicated
(from the programmer's perspective, I'm sure it isn't)

A couple of years ago, I submitted and was awarded 157 DX countries
countries by cards.

LoTW shows that award, which includes band/mode confirmations along
with another 27 credited.

DX4Win shows 233 worked and 225 confirmed, also including band/mode
confirmations.

What I need to know is what cards I submit.

I ran AD1C's comparison program, but that didn't help much, as there
is not enough detail.

I then went through DX4win's submission list and that didn't seem to correlate.

I'm not sure what to do now.

Re: [Dx4win] Help with hybrid DX4win/LoTW submisison

2009-01-07 Thread Eric Rosenberg
This is GREAT!

As I've done nothing since that initial card-based DXCC submission,
I'll start with this process and go forward.

I'll have to dig, but I'm not sure I have the list of that submission.
If I remember correctly, it was field checked. Would the ARRL have
that record?

Eric

On 1/7/09, Jim Reisert AD1C jjreis...@alum.mit.edu wrote:
Before doing your next endorsement, you first have to make you
existing DX4WIN DXCC award flags match the LoTW DXCC Award Credit
Matrix. This is what the program I wrote helps you with.

First, make sure any/all Submitted flags are cleared. Use Reports -
Change Award Flags to do this. You must select Clear Submitted and
do it for three awards - DXCC Mixed, DXCC Band and DXCC Mode.

Now using the records of what cards you submitted, and the list of
credits you were awarded, manually change the award flags for those
QSOs to Checked. LoTW won't tell you what cards you submitted, so I
hope you have accurate records of what cards you submitted, and what
credits you were given for them (I always Xerox (tm) everything,
including the cards). You'll have to do this for all 157 cards. It's
easier to do it this way, than to submit everything in DX4WIN and
unsubmit credits to get DX4WIN and LoTW to match.

NOTE: you don't have to identify the EXACT QSO you got credit for, but
you must pick a *confirmed* QSO that matches the credit you received.
For example, if it was for Spain, EA on 40 meters, any one confirmed
QSO with EA on 40 meters can be marked Checked.

Then run the LoTW comparison program and make sure DX4WIN matches your
DXCC Award Credit Matrix. Keep working on the step above until it
 matches 100%.

At this point, SAVE YOUR LOG

Going forward, you can now do a Reports - DXCC - Submission and
DX4WIN will set the award flags for new DXCC credits to Submitted
automatically. See my (or Kostas') earlier messages about submitting
 the DXCC hybrid application.

When you get the award back, that's when you use Reports - Change
Award Flags to change the Submitted flags to Checked. Then you run
the LoTW comparison program again, and things should match up. If
they don't, then ARRL gave you credit for something you didn't expect,
or didn't give you credit for something you expected (for example, I
mailed a card in late 2007 which was missed by the DXCC checking
process at ARRL, so I had to submit it again this year).

I hope this all makes sense.

[Dx4win] Help Figuring Out DXCC Submission

2009-01-06 Thread Eric Rosenberg
After waiting far too long, I'm finally getting around to submitting a
combination of cards and LoTW for DXCC awards.

I downloaded and ran AD1C's comparison software, but am still confused.

What's not clear is the difference between LoTW and DX4Win with regard

How do figure out which of my actual cards I need to submit? So far, the
DX4Win submission list is often wrong when comparing to LoTW in that it

Is there a better way to determine which cards to actually submit than
my manually comparing the LoTW matrix with the DX4Win submission list?

[Dx4win] HELP! v7.x Won't Release PTT w/My Orion

2007-03-10 Thread Eric Rosenberg
I migrated from 6.04 to 7.x

Everything seemed to be okay, so I did a mega-import of contest logs
into the new All QSO's database, uploaded it all to LoTW, and then
downloaded the results into DX4Win.

My troubles started when I finally got around to using it with the
radio, an Orion. IT all worked in previous versions.

1. I can't connect to the Internet clusters, although by all
appearances, it should work. Nothing happens when I click on the node,
et al, as per the correct procedures. I just go back to the blank
packet screen.

2. If the radio is in the CW mode, it is keyed (key down) and won't get
out of that mode. Note the the setup (port, et al), is the same as with
WriteLog, where this does *not* happen.

WHAT DO I DO NOW?

Do I reload the old *.ini file? It won't have the new categories for
the QSO's I've added.

et al, as per the correct procedures. I just go back to the blank
 packet screen.

Two possibilities:

1. Did you re-order your old DX4WIN.TCP file so your home node is at the
top? The file that comes with an upgrade has all the nodes in the default
order, so you will need to edit it again.

2. Are you running firewall software? DX4WIN.EXE will be a new version which
must be enabled in your firewall software to access the 'net.

Do I reload the old *.ini file? It won't have the new categories for
 the QSO's I've added.

You should have done this anyway. If by categories you mean groups, those
are part of the .DXL (log) file, not the configuration (.CFG) file.

Joe,

The answer to your question is Yes, there is a way that DX4WIN can assist
you in locating those new DXCC entities (and also for WAS). It requires
multiple steps -- but only takes about 5 minutes and is a whole lot better
than crawling through every contest QSO and looking at the Country window...

PREPARATION
1. Back-up or make a copy of your log in case you completely mess things up
;-)
2. Use the filter command to examine your log for an unused QSL method that
will be your search mechanism. I determined that I had no QSOs marked with
the QSL method - so this is the one I would employ in the following
steps.

LOCATING THE NEW PREFIXES
1. Select Labels - Mark for QSL
2. In the Mark QSOs for QSL dialogue window, set the Award = DXCC
3. Set the Mode method to (leave other Methods blank)
4. Leave the Weeks = 0 [my experience shows that Weeks do not work!]
5. Set Only QSOs after mm/dd/ to the date preceding the contest. Click
ok
6. A dialogue window will display the number of affected QSOs. [= new DXCC
entities worked in the contest!]
DO NOT press the Save button at this point - you might not want to Save
the changes you made to your log!

DISPLAYING THE NEW PREFIXES
To see the QSOs DX4WIN has identified as new DXCC prefixes:
1. Select Filter - Search (or press F8)
2. Filter on: Label = Y, Method = , press Enter
3. Select Window - Logbook
You are now staring at the list of QSOs with the new prefixes.
Modify/set/QSL/print labels/etc as you see fit.

If this worked the way you wanted, press the Save button. If it did not,
close the log without saving. This technique has worked for me after several
contests. Thanks to Jim Reisert for pointing me in the right

[Dx4win] Help! Lost Internet Access and Radio Control

2007-03-08 Thread Eric Rosenberg
With the Orion already on, I booted up DX4Win and Orion started
transmitting. I turned it off and then back on (w/DX4Win still running),
and it started transmitting again.

What might have happened to my preferences file? Can someone send me

And while you're at it, how about your packet page -- all of a sudden
I can't connect to my local telnet node. Nothing happens anymore when I

I'm doing a big revision of Franz Josef Land. By default, all UA1P calls were
put in FJL but some (many?) of them are *not* FJL but instead European Russia.

Here's what I decided to do:

FJL prefixes:

  4K2
  R1FJ
  /FJL

FJL callsigns:

  EK1P
  EO1AOK
  EO4AOK
  R1O
  RZ1OWA
  UA0BAZ/UA1O (UA1O/UA0BAZ)
  UA0BCA/UA1O (UA1O/UA0BCA)
  UA0BDU/UA1O (UA1O/UA0BDU)
  UA0BEZ/UA1O (UA1O/UA0BEZ)
  UA1KEC
  UA1KED
  UA1ODX
  UA1OIL
  UA1OKV
  UA1OT
  UA1PAL
  UA1PAM
  UA1PBN/1
  UA3CR/UA1
  UA3NDO/UA1O (UA1O/UA3NDO)
  UK1PAA
  UK1PGO
  UK1ZFI
  UV1OO
  UV3CC/UA1P (UA1P/UV3CC)
  UW3HY/1
  UZ3DD/1
  YL1P

All of these calls have been verified from multiple sources where possible.

I don't believe any of these calls were really Franz Josef Land and I removed
them from the list. If you can confirm that any of these ARE indeed FJL,
please let me know.

UA1O/UB5MAL (later 4K2MAL, but was *this* FJL?)
  UA1PAO
  UA1PAP
  UK1OAX
  UK1OAZ/U1P
  UK1PAD
  UK1PAL
  UK1ZAA/P
UV1OO/FJL (don't believe he ever signed this way)

I have it configured correctly for the width, height, # across etc. and I was

something to do with it. (I have the same opsys

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I use the Dymo 400 Turbo and get the same error each time I print.
Once I bypass it it prints fine but it would be nice to get it to go

[Dx4win] More Submission/Filtering Questions

2005-04-01 Thread Eric Rosenberg
Okay, so I've done the LoTW 'thing' and gotten the bug once again to
submit cards for 5BDXCC and other awards.

Now I need to do what one might consider subtractive filtering:

(DXCC) List all the unconfirmed new bands/modes for DX stations only.

(WAS) List all the unconfirmed new bands/modes for US stations only.

Not sure how I do this... I wish some one (AD1C?) would make a master
list anmd post to a website all of these filtering permutations.

[Dx4win] LoTW Upload Tagging Questions

2005-03-23 Thread Eric Rosenberg
It's 6.04 and somehow I got it to work.

Unfortunately, there's another series of errors I need to correct.

1. Satellite QSOs -- in the BAND field, there's a wild variation:

SAT
435/145
145/435

and there may be other combinations.

Is there an ADIF editor where I can specify which fields to change and
what to change them to?

I have LOTS of satellite QSOs and the notion of manually changing/editing
all of them is horrendous. I started last night, but feel I'll never get
it right (or complete it, for that matter).

Thanks in advance,

[Dx4win] Newbie Questions: DX4Win + LoTW

2005-03-10 Thread Eric Rosenberg
After lots of procrastinating, I've finally gotten my act to use LoTW.

I have logs for 5 different US callsigns.

My questions are:

- In doing card submissions./checks, DX4Win was apparently configured
to not flag any of the DXCC categories (mixed, band. mode).
Do I need to fiddle with any of those settings?
After I submit to LoTW, are those flags (and stats) reset? How?

- I assume I only upload the DX entries of my log(s). That being the
case, how do I extract only those QSOs?

Thanks in advance,

4X, ISRAEL. Aharon, 4X1FQ, has been active on 17 meters CW/SSB lately.
Look for him as early as 2100z or as late as 0500z. QSL via AA4V.

FO, FRENCH POLYNESIA (IOTA Op). Jean Michel, F6AJA, informs OPDX that
Alain, FO5RH, is active from Tuamotu Islands (IOTA OC-066). If he can
find a plane, he will try to go to Reao Island (IOTA OC-238). Also, he
will try to be active from different islands in the Tuamotu

He will be on 80-6 meters, mostly on CW and also on 14260 kHz. There

FP, ST. PIERRE AND MIQUELON. Look for FP/VE7SV to be active from

This will include participation in the CQWW SSB Contest -- in the M2

Hi Eric,

Are you familiar with the report editor? Just right-click on the
logbook, and bring up the editor. You can add any logbook field you
want, including QSL manager. In fact, if you search the log first
(F8) for * in the QSL manager field, you'll only see QSOs with
managers in the logbook/report.

to a specific site and perform functions (i.e., log in, sh/dx,
sh/users). I assume there's a script function possible, but am not sure
how to go it.

6 - the single use/choice for F2 key has been an issue for me. I spoke
with Paul about this at Dayton 2 years ago to no avail (although I
thought he was interested!). My idea is that F2 is for mark for label
and Shift-F2 is for confirmed -- I thought that would make sense, but
apparently it's still on the list. Can anyone suggest a shortcut?

Hi Eric,
My suggestion would be to firts expand the logging window
by hitting F5 until the awards window is at the bottom of the screen.
The last listing on the right is ValidDX. Here you can mark the QSO
invalid. Stays in the log, but does not count for anything.

Hope that helps, Seasons Greetings

ps Thanks for the DC multipliers!!

How do I do this?

I have a couple that I'll never get a card or credit for (HV3SJ, for
example, where the QSL mgr is a SK and the logs are apparently gone),
and others that DX4Win counts for DXCC submission where I've sent in
the card from a different station.

Thanks,

[Dx4win] Using a USB-multiple Serial Port Adapter?

2003-07-09 Thread Eric Rosenberg
I'm thinking about changing out my shack computer to a (used PIII)
laptop, which will force me to use the USB ports as serial ports.

At the present time, the shack computer uses one USB port (for a
non-radio application), 4 serial ports (for packet, rig [DX4Win and
Writelog], rotor [DX4Win, Writelog, RtrCtl], FSK/PSK31 [all of the
previously mentioned plus Digipan]) and two parallel ports (keyer
[DX4Win and Writelog], printer)

The question is whether the Keyspan USB-4 Serial Port adapter which
supports data rates to 230 kbps per port, will work.

OS at the moment is Win98SE and may be changed to Win2k or XP,
depending on what comes on the laptop.

[Dx4win] Printing On QSLs with HP 4000?

2002-05-22 Thread Eric Rosenberg
Has anyone done this -- printing directly on a QSL card from an HP 4000
printer?

The offsets are weird, to put it mildly, and I can't quite figure out
what went
wrong!

[Dx4win] Filter Help

2002-05-09 Thread Eric Rosenberg
Can or has someone put together a list of keystrokes or parameters
that could be considered standard filters?

For example, I'd like to know where I stand in re: WAS, but as
I appear not to have flagged any of them for submission, I'm
not sure how to do it. Likewise with IOTA, et al.

[Dx4win] Search/filter help needed

2002-01-07 Thread Eric Rosenberg
I've just imported a couple of contest logs and want to
label-for-printing new countries for DXCC.

My question is how do I search for new countries, regardless of mode or
band (I am nowhere near a separate mode or 5B DXCC submission!)
