[Dx4win] RES: DX4WIN - time is money
Hi folks The DX4WIN is really a fantastic tool for all users. As any other SW must be upgraded from time to time. I'm noticing that DX4win enter in certain conflict with computer connection with OM 2500 A for instance. When you use this automatic control amplifier in connection with DX4win and K3 or Icom 7800 the program gets lazy. Maybe a deeper study on the radio rig files would be useful. 73 Oms PY5EG -Mensagem original- De: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] Em nome de PY2YP Enviada em: sábado, 12 de outubro de 2013 07:46 Para: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Assunto: Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN - time is money That is fair. [Dx4win] Time Problems -- "QSO -- Add Real Time!"???
Dick, DX4WIN does not require you set your computer to UTC. You may be using other software (CT ?) that may need this. DX4WIN derives UTC from the Windows routines, and can handle daylights savings time correctly this way. The best way to deal with the Windows time zone is create your own zone. Please find into your Windows install disk the file TZEDIT.EXE and run it. You may either create your own time zone or edit an existing one. All your time problems will be solved. 73 DX de PY2YP - Cesar http://www.qsl.net/py2yp [EMAIL PROTECTED] - Original Message - From: "Lust Auction Services, LLC" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Sunday, March 30, 2003 3:39 PM Subject: [Dx4win] Time Problems -- "QSO -- Add Real Time!"??? | Hi all -- | | A newer user here -- | | My computer's clock IS set to the exact, correct, WWV time -- | I have checked it and reset it several times -- | | The computer's internal clock is therefore correct -- and I have it | set to UTC time/Zulu time -- exactly as per WWV announcements. | | However, whenever I try to add a QSO "Real Time!", the time | box always comes up exactly 1 hour off -- 1 hour ago -- | | I cannot seem to find the place in the Preferences where I set my local | time zone, as referenced in the "HELP" menu -- which I fear might be the | problem -- the DX4WIN assumes I am in the wrong time zone thus off-setting | my computer's internal clock by a negative one hour??? | | Or, might this be a Day Light Savings Time internal problem?? [Dx4win] Time Problems -- "QSO -- Add Real Time!"???
Hi all -- A newer user here -- My computer's clock IS set to the exact, correct, WWV time -- I have checked it and reset it several times -- The computer's internal clock is therefore correct -- and I have it set to UTC time/Zulu time -- exactly as per WWV announcements. However, whenever I try to add a QSO "Real Time!", the time box always comes up exactly 1 hour off -- 1 hour ago -- I cannot seem to find the place in the Preferences where I set my local time zone, as referenced in the "HELP" menu -- which I fear might be the problem -- the DX4WIN assumes I am in the wrong time zone thus off-setting my computer's internal clock by a negative one hour??? Or, might this be a Day Light Savings Time internal problem?? (with the one hour offset -- however, if that was the case, I should be seeing the time as a PLUS one hour, not a negative???--) Any suggestions? Where do I find the UTC off-set setting in the preferences menus?? Thanks for any help -- suggestions -- Dick, K9APW, since 1960, Madison (area of) Wisconsin

Paul wrote this in February 2002. Did it make it into 6.02? Pete, K2PS -- For the next release I added a command to change the time/date of a group of QSOs by a given amount. But wouldn't it make better sense to have it be some different color BEFORE you stop it, rather than after? I like to be reminded when I haven't done something I should. I suppose you can get into the habit of always clicking the time field and then back to RSTS when someone answers your call, but it would be nice to be reminded, and even nicer to have an alt-Fx combination you could click to freeze the clock without having to tab or click back and forth. Maybe I'm missing something that's already there, in which case I'm sure somebody will enlighten us both. 73, Pete N4ZR The World HF Contest Station Database has just been updated. I have on several occasions forgotten to click or tab on the time field = to stop the clock. Then ,several hours latter, you find that you have not logged the time = correctly. Would be nice if the time field would flash or change color after it is = set. Any suggestions? PRICE B. Have read your suggestion to Pete k2PS on his time problem. I wonder if you could help me. I discovered recently that in my 2000 IARU (July) contest (only 100 qsl's but some good ones! ) an error was made somewhere that moved the qso times exactly 15 hours off. My son also a Pete ad4l has offered to work on it for me. I wondered if you would be kind enough to send me a copy of the formula file for changing time and date . It might be just the thing for him too. I have made a copy of your letter on the subject and could forward that to him. I would also have to send out some qsl's late as it is, but it is worth a try. However, if I am asking a bit much - that's o.k. Margaret

Pete, K2PS This may not be the easiest way but it will work. MAKE A BACK UP COPY OF YOUR LOG. In Dx4win go to window and logbook. Right click on log book any where and in the popup window go to write to coma separate value file. Be sure to note where the file will be saved. Open the file with excel (will have to tell excel to look for all files *.*). You will need to add 3 columns to the right. I am attaching a short file that contains formulas that will change the time and date. After you get the correct times and dates copy that column and paste special, values only over the Old ones. Save and then import back into Dx4win. I suggest yu give it a new name. Hope this works for you. If I can help give me a call at 800-46-379. [Dx4win] Time Fixing Problem
I discovered recently, to my chagrin, that an ARRL DX test log, imported last March, put the wrong time in each of about 1500 QSO's. Too late now to undo, although I could manually delete each. But before I do so, does anyone have any easier method of adding 7 hours to each? And that would include modifying the date as well, where necessary. Pete, K2PS
