[Elecraft] Need +12v or +5v on TX
Hi, I am adding kind of RF limiter/protector to my my K3 signal path at the ANT1 input and need to switch a small relay between TX/RX line. I would like to keep protector circuit in small box inside the radio. Where would be the easiest point to "steal" '+12v or +5v on TX only (irrespective of the power settings, with or without KPA3). I know I could use signal from Key out jack (active low) but I would rather find a point inside the radio to switch relay with positive voltage and keep Key out free. 73 Robert, S57AW __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

[Elecraft] VOX / PTT combination on k3
Hi, Simple question... Is there a way to avoid VOX delay on CW mode when PTT is used? To be more concrete: - CW and PTT signal are sent to K3 with N1MM directly from serial port (no external keyer) - external electronic keyer is connected to K3 - VOX is enabled If I want CW keyer to work without PTT / paddle then VOX has to be enabled, but VOX brings unwanted delay at the end when CW is sent from PC. 73 Robert, S57AW __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

Since I’m only 30 miles away from them it got here in a flash. On past purchases from them of other small items I have been satisfied as well. On the CM500, theirs was the best price I could find. I’m definitely not a headset guy – I much prefer the open-air speaker environment when possible. Nevertheless, I like this headset overall. It is very comfortable to wear for an extended period of time, even for those with above-average hat sizes. I have used it a couple of times in phone contests. I tried, but didn’t at all care for VOX operation. I find that there is little acoustic isolation between the microphone stalk and the ear cup to which it is attached, so when you move around, the noises that the headset itself creates trigger the VOX. So I now use a footswitch and that works beautifully. No unwanted noise triggering and no having the VOX drop during a breath from a long contest exchange. With the footswitch, VOX also does not get triggered when the XYL remarks “ANOTHER rare DX station that you must work right now?!” The sound quality of the speakers in the set is just fine and the mic is hot, so no worries about inadequacy in producing appropriate voice level to the K3. The usual disclaimers apply – I have nothing to do with BH other than being a satisfied customer. 73 de Tyler, KC2LST __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

I'd be interested in the results. 73, Scott K9MA On Feb 8, 2011, at 11:49 AM, Jorge Diez - CX6VM wrote: Hello, I have both KFL3A-400 (400 Hz 8-pole) and KFL3A-1.8K (1.8 kHz 8- pole) filters in my K3. If I add a KFL3A-250 (250 Hz 8-pole) filter I will notice it better to use in contests? Or with the 400Hz is enough? Notice I am not in USA or EU with strong stations near me, I don´t have the QRM this big populations have, trying to reduce the splatters. 73, Jorge CX6VM/CW5W k3 #4077 Scott Ellington Madison, Wisconsin USA __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Re: [Elecraft] P3 Questions
From the P3 instruction manual: When used with a K3, this power may be taken from the 12VDC OUT jack on the K3 rear panel. The K3 is capable of supplying power to both the P3 and the Elecraft PR6 six-meter preamplifier at the same time if 12VDC or greater is supplied to the K3’s power connector. Lower voltages at the K3 connector will cause the total current required by the P3 and PR6 to exceed the 500 mA limit from the K3’s 12VDC outlet. P3 requirements: Power: 10-15 VDC is a standard 2.1 mm barrel connector for a 10-15 VDC supply capable of delivering up to 0.5A. 73 Robert, s57aw 2010/12/5 Mike n...@nf4l.com I don't have a P3, so I don't know what it's power requirements are, but you're going to have to have a power supply anyway for the K3.. 73, Mike NF4L On 12/5/2010 8:23 AM, pastor...@verizon.net wrote: I am condidering a purchase of a P3 with my k3. Do I understand correctly that I would need an additional power supply for the P3? Or would I be able to connect it to the power jack on back of the k3 for power? If I need an addiitonal power supply that's going to make the equipment jammed packed. But I also read on the reflector that the power jack on the back of the K3 doesn't have sufficient amps to run the K3. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
